During my college years, some 25 years ago, I would get great muffins from a place called The Mill. While visiting I looked up the place to no avail but this place, Mill Bakery and Deli, hit the spot. Their selection of muffins were great and my Blackberry choice hit all the necessary gooey and yummy notes to satiate my needs. My breakfast sandwich, croissant sausage and cheese, brought me out of my sleep mode without being overwhelming. Plus, the serverâ??s question of if I wanted ketchup â??forcedâ? me to get a side of hash browns. Great choice Bob or Don or whatever you courteous and helpful server was! My wife had â??not too eggyâ? French Toast with a side of ham that she thoroughly enjoyed. Plus a couple muffins to go. Oh, the coffee was good and hot. All in all, my new favorite Hogtowne breakfast spot.

Coffee Fixx Menu with Prices 3020 SW 6th Ave, Amarillo

Twice before I meant to go here but I kept ending up at the wrong place. Today I got it right and was sure glad I did. This is a great little spot, only open till 2 p.m. but their breakfast is great. I bet their other food is too. I got the breakfast special which was $6 for two eggs, choice of meat, hash browns and choice of toast or pancake. I’m not a big pancake fan but I had a good feeling about this place so I ordered it. The pancake was wonderful. The eggs were wonderful. I wish I had remembered to ask the guy to cook the hash browns extra crispy but they were still good flavored. Oh, and the breakfast includes coffee. Triple strength coffee. I haven’t had coffee that strong for ages. I may not sleep for a week. I forgot to ask the guy behind the counter if he was the owner (I’m pretty sure he was) or just a very good employee but he was very pleasant, welcoming, and informative when I asked questions. I thought maybe the place was new since I hadn’t heard of it before but he said they’ve been there for 2 years so maybe it just didn’t show up on my Yelp results because it’s too far from where I’m staying. Do I recommend this place to others? Absolutely!

Cook’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1300 N 66th St, Lincoln

Good breakfast at a good price with exceptional service. It’s simple, clean, and no frills. As I normally do when I’m visiting another city, I went all out. My order consisted of a half order of biscuits & gravy, sausage links, hash browns, bacon/egg/cheese omelette, and 2x blueberry pancakes. The biscuits and gravy were good (and oddly enough had enough pepper…most places never use enough pepper). The sausage links worked well with syrup. The hash browns reminded me very much of waffle house hash browns, which are also good. The omelette was fine, but didn’t really stand out. The best part of the mean was definitely the blueberry pancakes. Those monsters were terrific. Even though I gorged, my bill was still under $25. And my coffee cup never got below half full despite my beat efforts and probably drinking a pot and a half’s worth. Not sure if this joint is worth going way out of the way for, but if it’s close by and you’re wanting a nice down home breakfast; this is a great option.

Butch’s Place Family Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3330 W 26th St, Erie

Cute little diner, very busy and now I know why! We stopped in after finding this place on Yelp. What a treat. We all wanted a hearty breakfast after a rough night out. It took a few minutes to get a table and quite a while to get our food, but the coffee kept coming and the ladies working were friendly. The omelets were cooked perfectly, not over done. I’d definitely recommend Butch’s breakfast potatoes over the hash browns. The hash browns were under cooked. The breakfast potatoes were fresh cut and cooked on the grill…perfection. The pancakes were the BEST I’ve had in a long time. The batter had a nice flavor and the texture was heaven. They had a hot griddle crispness to them and were soft and fluffy in the middle. We ordered the vege omelet which came with potatoes and toast, an order of 2 chocolate chip pancakes and a breakfast combo that came with two eggs, two plain pancakes, meat and potatoes, and a coffee and the bill came to $26 before tip. Not bad pricing, but those pancakes are worth every penny. It was a good amount of food. Just what we were looking for!

Our Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 813 W 36th St, Minneapolis

I am a no frills breakfast type of girl – always ordered the all star at Waffle House, always want bacon / sausage, eggs, hash browns and toast, and an orange juice. I get the same thing at most brunch places I go to! Our kitchen is a small diner that understands the importance of doing the staple breakfast foods justice. Our kitchen is a small diner with a kitchen big enough for only two people and a few servers tops. Because of this, service can take a bit longer than other breakfast places, but they make up for the wait with food portions and a genuine and warm personality. I had the breakfast special and was STUFFED but thought everything was cooked very well. You have to add your own salt and pepper to taste but I loved the hash browns and sausage. One piece of advice, if you don’t want to be sweating and smelling like food, don’t sit at the bar by the grills! Didn’t think about it and my boyfriend was sweating after ten minutes. If you want a good and hearty breakfast after a night out, this is the place to go! There’s some outside seating but it wouldn’t be great for big groups!

Don’s Country Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1938 S Coast Hwy #6433, Oceanside

On our way to Seaworld we wanted to have a hearty breakfast to keep us full for some time. Found this place on Yelp and got there around 8:30am on a Sunday. We were two families including 4 children and they sat us immediately by offering us two separate tables next to each other which we did not mind. The breakfast menu is extensive from omelettes to pancakes, Benedicts to scrambles, B. Sandwiches to “light items” and their famous stuffed hash browns so there is something for everyone. My son wanted to have “chocolate waffle” but they did not have such a thing on their menu but our waitress offered him nicely to bring pancakes with chocolate chips which was accepted by my son without doubt, lol My husband and I decided to get a stuffed hash-brown and a Fresh Spinach Omelet and split. The kids pancakes arrived shortly as we requested because our children were very hungry and impatient. They loved their Mickey shaped pancake, that was a win! And there it came our each split in two separate plates already which was a great proactivity. The food was so tasty, we tried to eat as much as we could despite being full already. The stuffed hash-brown was something I never had before and it was fantastic! Perfect crispy hash-browns folded and filled with bacon, cheese, avocado, topped with runny sunny side up eggs and Hollandaise sauce. How great combo is that?! Anyhow it tasted as good as it sounds ? The Omelette was flavorful too. It had so much spinach and Jack cheese which we liked a lot. The portions are huge and we could totally be full by sharing just one dish. The prices are fair varying between $10-12. The service was friendly and quick. The waitress got our orders right and went above and beyond to deliver them. We were full up until 6pm that we had dinner on our way back to LA so that was another plus that we did not have to have the overpriced and mediocre food at Seaworld!

Big Eyed Fish – Menu with Prices – 1502 N Wells St, Fort Wayne

Update 7/21/19 Took my mom here for breakfast, first time, always only had lunch or dinner. First & foremost, had great service from Shanita. Beyond pleasant & some of the best service you could get. Five stars for the service. Refreshing to see such a genuine smile & attentive service. A level of service I generally see at high end restaurants, exemplary. Mom had an omelette (your choice of 3 ingredients) hash browns, raisin toast & included coffee. I had 2 eggs, toast & coffee ($2.50). Both together were under $10, including 2 cups of coffee. Can’t beat that for a hot breakfast served by a smiling face. While I like the fish here a lot, the breakfast blew me away. I wish I had tried it sooner, who knew ??

Waffle Square – Menu with Prices – 200 Harding Blvd, Roseville

After a nearly five-year lapse, I visited Waffle Square, located on Harding Ave., shortly after the morning opening time of 0700. I came in for the current weekday special, which is “Steak and Eggs” for $6.99. I’m a lover of breakfast, and I rarely resist a bargain. As you walk in the restaurant, there is a small souvenir area, complete with a machine with a claw that will allow you to grab a stuffed animal, as you feed the beast with quarters. That’s not my “thing,” as I prefer to eat, rather than to play. As I walked through the souvenir area, I was greeted by Leanne, who would be my hostess, on this early Tuesday morning. I was the first customer of the day, and for the first half hour, I had the dining room all to myself. The dining room is squeaky clean, spacious and comfortable. There appears to have been some renovation since my last visit. The decor matches the cuisine the restaurant serves, as both are pure “Americana.” I took a peek at the breakfast menu, mostly out of curiosity, as I knew what I wanted. I placed my order and my breakfast arrived in around 15 minutes, with a smile. The only “oddity” about this fine breakfast is that toast isn’t included, but is available for on additional dollar, which isn’t a bad deal. I decided to “pass” on toast, and just enjoy the breakfast, as advertised. The main attraction is a small steak, I guess about 4-ounces, cooked any way you choose. You also get your choice of hash browns, or country potatoes, and two eggs, cooked any style. It’s definitely a “basic” breakfast, but so is the price. My steak arrived medium, just the way I ordered it, and it was tender, juicy and flavorful. I’m always tempted to add a little sauce on my steak, only at breakfast, but this steak didn’t need any enhancements, as it was great just by itself. I agonized between country or hash brown potatoes, and hash browns won. They were cooked golden crispy on the outside, and chewy tender inside, just the way I like them. The hash browns were neither salty or greasy, which is a HUGE bonus. As per my de facto standard, I ordered my eggs fried over easy, and they arrived, perfectly cooked the way I ordered them. I always judge the skill of a breakfast chef by the “eggs over easy method,” as too many chefs haven’t mastered the art of cooking eggs in this style. The chef at Waffle Square “nailed” the eggs! My breakfast was delicious, and perfectly cooked, and tasted even better, thanks to Leanne’s friendly service. When you’re in the mood for a great breakfast, and you don’t want to break the bank, stop by Waffle Square and enjoy the weekday special of steak and eggs! Say “hello” to friendly Leanne…

Carla’s Cafe Menu with Prices 9809 S Union Ave, Bakersfield

Another great breakfast! When we arrived on Saturday just after 8am, there was exactly one empty table. We grabbed it & waited for it to be cleaned. Our server was very nice, although very busy. I ordered a biscuit & gravy, two eggs scrambled with cheese, and avocado. It was perfect! The gravy was sausage-y, although it didn’t have a lot of chunky meat in it. The biscuit was soft and fell apart in the gravy. They were generous with the cheese and avo. I did note that after about 5 minutes, the dish had turned cold, so I finished it that way. It was still good. My wife had a pancake with a side of potatoes and fruit. The potatoes were nice & crunchy, but she would have liked more flavor, maybe the addition of onions or peppers. The fruit was bananas, pears, and apples, and they were all fresh and perfectly ripe. She loved that! My son had the Full Hot Mess, a plate of biscuits and gravy with hash browns and a sausage patty. He ordered the patty spicy, and really liked that. He would have preferred the hash browns on the side, but overall he said it was an 8 out of 10 breakfast. They have exactly one bathroom stall for everyone. My wife stepped in to use it, and the previous occupant had peed all over everything. It was gross, although not Carla’s fault. We told Carla, and she was instantly in there cleaning it. This is indicative of Carla’s commitment to quality. We’ll be back!

Plaza Cafe & Grill – Menu with Prices – 4041 N Central Ave, Phoenix

Staff Review: Arriving here at 7:00AM on a Friday morning, there was nobody else at this restaurant, nor was there anyone else in sight outside. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was preparing the coffee for the restaurant. This same individual also took my order, and was pleasant the entire time. Price Review: I don’t know anywhere else in the valley where an order of French Toast is $3.69. Because I also ordered a side order of Hash Browns, after tax, my total came to $5.95. That’s definitely a steal. In terms of price, this restaurant can not be beat. Price point = 5 Stars Food Quality Review: As mentioned, I ordered the French Toast with a side order of hash browns. After about 10 minutes, it arrived smelling and looking delicious. The French Toast was average. It was slightly over cooked and pretty dry. This restaurant puts the syrup on for you. I decided to not eat the forth half slice. The hash browns were decent. I ordered them well done, but they’re pretty standard. French Toast Quality = 3 stars. Overall, I’d probably come back here if I have some free time in the morning before work and try something else.

The Farmhouse – Menu with Prices – 11804 Indiana Ave Ste 200, Lubbock

Disappointed. The exterior makes you think this will be a nice place to dine. The atmosphere is pretty basic and on the lower end of places. The attitude of the greeter and wait staff was not welcoming. The food was nothing special at all. The French Toast was soggy. It had no “toasted” exterior to make it French Toast. The hash browns were just shredded potatoes with no crispy ness or “browning” to make them hash browns. Eggs were plain. Bacon was nothing special. Seemed to be chewy, limp, and greasy. The syrup seemed like cheap store bought syrup. The biscuits and gravy was bland. I would not recommend this place for breakfast since there are many better options nearby.

Sybil’s Omelettes – Menu with Prices – 2373 State St, Salem

TL;DR – 3.5, decent American breakfast (haven’t had their lunch), pretty good portions, very spacious and great for larger groups. Will I bring the fam here when they visit from LA? Probably not. But it’s a solid option if you live in town and you’re checking out hometown options. ____________________ CONTEXT: Over the past year, I’ve been able to come through on a few Saturdays right when they open at 6am to meet a group of guys for breakfast. It’s neat to see the other patrons who are obviously regulars strolling in at the same time. FOOD/DRINKS The food hasn’t blown me aware, and it tends to ere on the salty side for my taste. They have a MASSIVE section of omelettes (obviously, it’s in the name) and it’s almost like they laid out every combination of a build-your-own for you. But you can of course create your own, too. — #35 – omelette with sausage, onion, green pepper, cheddar: I’ve gotten this a couple of times and it’s pretty good. Plus, you can save $0.50 by taking 2 eggs instead of 3 which is nice. The hash browns are nice and crispy, so can’t complain there! — Breakfast burrito: 3 eggs, cheese, and your choice of meat wrapped in a flour tortilla and served with salsa, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and either fruit or hash browns. Went with the “tropical” fruit option which was a nice mix of fresh fruit. I’ve seen that it’s canned fruit sometimes – makes sense in the winter. — Corned Beef Hash: this is what I got the first time I came and it’s pretty much a salt block straight out of the can. Hit some nostalgia because I ate this stuff as a kid, but it’s a hard pass on that now. STAFF Excellent service! They’re friendly, help us put tables together (sorry, we’re those people), and they always come around with coffee to refill the whole time we’re there. They also don’t bat an eye when I just ask for hot water (yeah, I’m that kind of person) and they bring a pot of hot water to refill my mug too, which is great. SPACE/LOCATION They’ve got tons of seating and a variety of booths and tables. Our group size varies depending on the month, but they’re always extremely accommodating for our group that ranges from 4 to 10+.

Kane’s Catering – Menu with Prices – 1560 Payne Ave #3219, St Paul

Kane’s Catering catered our wedding social hour and reception at the Landmark Center in Saint Paul. They did an AMAZING job!!! Even from the beginning, they truly made us feel like we were top priority. They were very accommodating to our wishes and were great at answering the many questions we had throughout the planning process. The food was amazing!!! We were very picky about the food we wanted for our day and Kane’s did not disappoint. We served the champagne chicken, six pepper tenderloin tips, cheesy hash browns, rice pilaf, and a great assortment of veggies. The meat was so good and kept very well, despite us doing a buffet. We were very nervous that the meat was going to be dry, but it was far from that! The cheesy hash brown were definitely the hit of the night!! Every guest we have talked to about our wedding have raved about the hash browns. The day-of service was wonderful as well! I would HIGHLY recommend Kane’s catering for those looking for great food and for a great price!! Thanks Jerry, Beth, and the rest of the Kane’s Catering crew for the amazing experience!!
