I had just came from Goodyoga next door and figured I’d stop in The Bad Bagel (gotta have balance, right? Lol). I arrived around 6pm, an hour before close on a Saturday. I love the wide selection of cream cheese– looks like gelato and I was tempted to ask for a scoop! The restaurant seems spacious for crowded morning lines and easy to order with a nice menu above the counter. There’s four bar stools at the window (and a bit cramped) so I imagine if it’s crowded in the mornings it may be hard to land a seat so expect to grab&go! The restaurant seems very clean and ingredients looked fresh. The nice gentleman behind the counter told me I could choose from menu options above or choose any protein and create a sandwich on a bagel, bun, hero, or wrap. I saw this attractive looking whitefish but there was no name tag on it like the other fish and protein options in the counter fridge so I asked the gentleman behind the counter what kind of fish it was. He asked someone in the kitchen and told me it was smoked sable and asked if I wanted to try it. The manager/owner came out and told me they don’t give samples. OK. He told me it was too expensive to try but was nice enough to give me a tiny, thin piece almost the size of my fingernail and then tell me I ate $3-4 worth of fish, like he was doing me a favor and I was taking too much of his precious fish. He then tells me AFTER they make the sandwich that the sablefish on a bagel is $13. (The other bagels on the menu averaged about $9 or so). I already felt ashamed for taking a sample of his oh-so-expensive fish that I didn’t even ask to try… I was offered, remember? Was feeling bad for even thinking of attempting to change my order to another menu item in the price range of the rest of the bagel sandwiches when they already made the sandwich and having to tell them I didn’t want it anymore. So I got it anyway. Side note: I would recommend them adding the sablefish to the menu or at least stick a name and price so that everyone knows it’s Smoked Sable and a different price for $13 if you want it on a bagel. If I knew the price up front and had not been given a hard sales pitch on the expensive fish, I may have bought the sandwich on my own without feeling shamed into it. Also, don’t expect the portion size of the smoked sable to be what you typically would get on a smoked salmon/lox bagel sandwich. The manager says they don’t give that much because it’s a VERY expensive brand of fish but says he’s doing me a favor and giving me extra (which wasn’t even a normal portion size) because he wants me to be happy, while still reminding me how he had to pay a lot of money for the fish. Ok dude I get it, enough already! Lol … How about just give a normal serving by weight, the same amount of fish you would for all the other fish and just charge accordingly (whatever high price it may be) so we don’t have to have these kind of conversations and I can eat sooner than later?? Anyway, their restaurant, their rules. My friend had already finished her bagel by the time the manager & I finished talking and paid for the sandwich and I felt like it took so much energy just to order– It was not easy! I asked them to toast my bagel but they forgot to do that. The bagel itself was decent just a little hard to bite into, could be because I got there an hour before close. The cream cheese was very good. I chose the cucumber dill on my bagel– yummy! However the cream cheese to protein ration didn’t work for me; too much cream cheese and not enough fish on the bagel for me. I had to pick out the fish to eat it by itself to actually taste it. My experience may have been better if I had not built my own bagel and made it easier for them and just ordered from the menu. I recommend everyone to just stick to the menu.

Fill Your Belly Deli – Menu with Prices – 282 Manor Rd, Staten Island

I was on military duties( dressed in uniform) going in for breakfast the guys made a mistake and gave someone else my sandwich and gave me his. I went back after seeing he made a mistake to get it fix. He seem annoyed. I told him what i had asked for , he said ok. Now I payed $5:25 for a bagel beef sandwich. He gave me a deef patty with no bagel . I asked wheres the bagel. He then put the beef patty on the bagel with egg that I brought back. I told him I dont eat eggs thats why I walked back to fix it. Dude started mouthing off “I dont have anymore bagels,” you change your order too much.” Went in the cash register pull the money and slap it on the counter.” ( disrespectful customer service to the ppl who support their business) if your military do not buy there. He has no respect for us who over pay for there meals.

Fresh Start Market and Espresso – Menu with Prices – 3020 Center St NE, Salem

I used to love going to this place for a quick breakfast. But we went today without having gone for awhile and the quality has gone waaaaaaaay down hill. We ordered a plain bagel, toasted, with cream cheese and a bagel sausage breakfast sandwich. The biggest issue was the breakfast sandwich. What we got, was a microwaved Jimmy Dean biscuit sandwich. This is obviously not a bagel sandwich. Also, even if I had been okay with a biscuit sandwich, I definitely don’t want a gross, greasy, msg filled, microwaved sandwich. But even the plain bagel with cream cheese was a failure. The bagel itself was terrible. It was thin, dense and very dry. When they toasted it, it got even drier and was burnt in places. And the tiny serving of cream cheese they provided barely covered one side of the bagel. This was a huge let down. However! I do have to say, I went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and got a black bean burger that was very good. So, go ahead and give it a shot for lunch, but for breakfast, you are better off just buying something in the frozen section and microwaving it yourself. It would probably be cheaper and you’d at least be able to pick out something you actually want.

East Coast Bagel – Menu with Prices – 14370 Culver Dr, Irvine

This is by far the best bagel shop in Orange County. As a NJ native and a total bagel snob I can tell you that most bagels out here are just rolls with holes in them. They don’t have to correct texture, chewiness, or flavor. East Coast Bagels is the best bagel you are going to find out here! I’ve done the leg work! On a Sunday morning expect a line out the door, but it moves pretty quickly so don’t let that discourage you. Know what you want ASAP, because their system is to call you up from the line to the center of the counter, order, then get back on the line to pay. And they want to get your order quickly to keep their system moving, so there is definitely a rushed east coast feel going on (which I personally don’t mind at all). If you order to eat in they give you some paper plates on the top of your bag, most people opt for to-go orders. I’ve had plain, egg, everything, etc, all bagels were great. Their croissants are a little too greasy for my taste, but are delicious with and egg and cheese sandwich if your heart can take it! My one complaint if I had one would be that when they are in a rush they can get a little skimpy with the cream cheese, and it may not get evenly spread over your whole bagel. Some may not care about this, but I do. Usually the beauty of ordering a bagel with cream cheese is the generosity of the serving and the convenience of being ready to eat as your drive off. If the bagel needs to be taken apart and reconstructed (or else half the bagel will be plain) or you got cheated on your cream cheese these benefits for paying a premium for a bagel with cream cheese disappears. You might as well pay for a side of cream cheese and do it yourself. The cream cheese issue is most certainly not enough of a deterrent to keep me from coming back to the only real bagels in OC. If you want the real deal, you MUST COME TO EAST COAST BAGELS!!

The Press Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2079 Compton Ave # 106, Corona

I’m convinced that I’ve never had a bagel w/ cream cheese this tasty. The bagel is a good size and the cream cheese is fresh. This isn’t a bagel you get from a grocery store, very soft and crunchy in the right places being that it was toasted. I also ordered a hot chocolate , so tasty. More than enough hot chocolate (medium sized) . I can say that I was taken aback at the price but after receiving my food it was a little (a little) more understandable. For a hot chocolate and bagel with cream cheese I spent $10 and some change. The lady at the counter was very nice, the music is perfect. There isn’t a lot of seating , like two chairs and this seems more like the place for people on the go, but I’m not complaining.

URBAN, Restaurante – Menu with Prices – 18505 NW 75th Pl, Hialeah

So my review is a bit mixed, but ill keep it short. The place: A Wynwood in Miami lakes, modern, clean and cute. The food: When we speak of the food itself, just that, the food is great and worth going back for. HOWEVER: The service we received was terrible and the reason why we haven’t returned in the past 2 years, and probably never will. I would like to think the waiter was new, but based on how the night went, I can tell it was the waiter and the management. First we ordered beer, it was HOT, who serves/drinks HOT beer? Upon complaining, they said there was nothing they could do…. ok.. I guess? Then we ordered our food. I ordered a hamburger and my boyfriend said that he wanted a chicken sandwich, which the girl said “oh youd like XYZ sandwich then” and he agreed to her “chicken sandwich” suggestion. We wait for our food about 30-40mins, which is quite a while considering they were simple foods. My burger was great, I had a mushroom and cheese hamburger. This came with waffle fries which were surprisingly great (I dont like waffle fries) and it was all very good with me. My boyfriends “chicken sandwich” ended up being a FISH sandwich, which he cannot eat. We asked our waiter if we could please return it as we had not ordered this sandwich. Instead of comprehending and moving on, she decided to argue with us and tell us that we had given her the wrong name of the dish… like really? we told you the type of food and YOU suggested the name, yet its our fault? really? after arguing with us, she took it back and got his order (all with an attitude). I was almost done with my meal when he received his. AGAIN! she took his order wrong! AGAIN, we ask for it to be returned. This time we did not want to replace our order. Instead we asked to speak to the manager. After arguing with us AGAIN, she ran off to her manager. The manager comes back, and we expected some form of apology, not a free meal nor anything else, just an apology. NOPE, the manager was just as difficult to speak too and didnt take responsibility for the experience nor his employee. In the end, my boyfriend didnt get eat and we were charged for my food and the beers.

Big City Bagels & Deli – Menu with Prices – 15681 N Hayden Rd E-1, Scottsdale

After many visits, I’m disappointed that prices have been raised, yet portions are getting smaller. Loyal customers like me will not be returning. I ordered a bagel sandwich, and the deli meat was barely visible. Aftereards, the manager told me they used 2.5 oz of meat, which explains why I could barely identify the 2 slices on the bagel. That’s pitiful. At nearly $7, I feel ripped off. The price would be fine, as long as they give you enough meat to justify it. Even Subway uses more meat on a 6 inch sub. I can’t imagine the cost to this bagel shop is more than a few quarters, for another ounce of meat. I’m sure their response would be to order the “Skyscraper”, which is listed as twice the meat, for a higher price. But let’s be honest, why should I pay nearly $10 for more meat, for a still underwhelming bagel sandwich. and really is the name Skyscraper even accurate, for 4 small slices? My point is, please don’t take advantage of your customers, as the smart ones will realize they’re being ripped off, and not come back. The bagels are good, but nothing else is worth the money.

The Bagelry – Menu with Prices – 1401 Walnut St, Cincinnati

Cute little shop in an area of OTR that I hope continues to grow. I’ve had their bagels at Rooted, and had heard rave reviews about their lox bagel, which is one of my favorite foods of all time (+ haven’t found a place in Cincinnati that can do a lox bagel correctly yet). After finally making it to the brick & mortar location, I opted to try a few other things on my first visit. I got an egg sandwich + wheat bagel to eat right away, and a rosemary bagel with the vegan cheddar cheese spread for later. The egg sandwich was phenomenal. The bagel was great (very obviously boiled! yay!) + the perfect mix of crunchy and chewy. Lots of egg, and wrapped perfectly so that I could eat it on the go. The rosemary bagel was also delicious – I liked it better than the wheat bagel. I was so excited they had 3 vegan cream cheese flavors when I visited – such a rarity for Cincy! – but the cheddar cashew cream cheese was just okay. I probably did it wrong by pairing it with the rosemary bagel, but it did nothing for me, and wasn’t as good as other cashew cheese I’ve tried. Bummer. Definitely coming back for the lox bagel when I’m back in Cincy next. What a great addition to OTR!

Rheas Hot Links – Menu with Prices – 201-229 South Oakland Avenue, 204 S Fannin Ave, Tyler

Well today, I went to hot link place for my husband to take to his job. Normally the ladies are great always. But, we have noticed the last 3 visits havnt been that plesant from just (1) employee. But, we will still speak but her attitude us nonchalant. Anyway, today she came to window, didnt speak, and I ordered. Then came back gave me price and I gave her my card. Told her the chip doesn’t work as I handed to her. She looked at me, and still took it. About 5mins later, she comes back and says, my card dont work. Well, 1st of all, it works fine but the reason I told her in advance is for her to do it as credit or without chip usage. Anyway, i told her, I will give her cash. She handed her hand out for my cash, but still had my debit card. I told her to give my card 1st, then I gave her a $50 bill. She took a min and came back with $26 change. I looked at her funny and asked where my receipt she said since I didnt pay with card, I cant get a receipt. I asked how much was it again, she looked at me with a attitude and said, its right. $13 from $50 is $26 and I told her its incorrect and then she shut window on me and started talking to other worker. I bought 14 links, which she gave him the smallest links in there and a strawberry fanta, no ice. Maybe she gaving a bad day. But, lately she has acted this way. Idk way, i haven’t done anything to her and idk her either well. I drove around to front door, went in with food and money. Told the smaller dark lady, who is always sweet and she asked what i bought, told her and still that lady tried to say, 50-13=26, and thats what i gave you. Well, im not dumb, but I know how to count. So instead of arguing, i pulled out my phn to calculator, then she hurried up and said, or yea..I owe you $10. Laid it on counter and walked away. I told my hubby when i took him the food and he tut old me to report it. He said, he was proud of me, cause normally i goes off about my money. But, I have grown alot and tries to be better. She still had a attutude, vut you tried to CHEAT ME, but mad at me. I dont get that. How many people does, she do like this daily that she THINKS, DONT COUNT THEIR MONEY. My husband is bad about not counting his, but I DONT PLAY LIKE THAT. He eats at Rheas at least weekly, and before he had his seizures last yr. He ate 3 times a week faithfully on lunch break of after work. Smh at her.

Pendleton Carryout Co. Menu with Prices 807 Pendleton St, Alexandria

really sad to be posting this because I loved all of their food offerings when they first opened. However, over the last few months the staff has changed, the hours have changed, and so has the food quality. My boyfriend and I loved coming in in the mornings for the breakfast sandwiches. Last week, the woman at the counter yelled at my boyfriend for walking into the open door at 10:55 am because they weren’t open for another five minutes, and then curtly told him they don’t have breakfast sandwiches in, speaking as if it was his fault that he had asked. today the people at the counter had their headphones in and didnt even fully take them out to take our order. Over the past month, they didn’t have the ingredients several times, and today they gave us a sandwich that not only didn’t have the fluffy scrambled eggs we were used to, but the egg was chopped up and not fully cooked through, the cheese wasn’t melted and they were overall soggy. As for the hours, they now dont open until 11, so for breakfast we’ve been hitting up McDonalds again, because in my book, 11am is a little for a breakfast sandwich and I dont want to be walking around midday to pick up lunch in 90 degree heat. Not going back here until they get their act together and turn back into the restaurant they were when they first opened.

Moe’s Broadway Bagel – Menu with Prices – 3267 28th St, Boulder

Spent $5 on salty water. Bought a medium iced Americano, asked for minimal water, and an extra shot. She put two shots (should be 4) into an overflowing cup of lukewarm water with two ice cubes. Had to pour out after trying. While I don’t mind their bagels, they charge an extra $1.50 for plain cream cheese per bagel. The cream cheese costs more than the bagel itself. So I bought half a dozen, then bought my own cheese at Safeway and saved enough for next months rent. They also charge $10 for a mediocre bagel breakfast sandwich. Not worth it. Buy the bagels made fresh at CU market’s, cheaper and comes with free cream cheese.

Harvest Moon Bagel Co – Menu with Prices – 47 N Queen St, Lancaster

Harvest Moon Bagel is just a few blocks down from the convention center, making it an attractive option for a quick breakfast. Interior is small with some seating, but becomes hard to access they are crowded. There is really nowhere to stand for people waiting. Menu includes bagels, sandwiches, and pastries with some vegan options. Various beverages are available in the cooler. Ordered a Classic Egg and Cheese with Bacon on a plain bagel, no cheese. The bacon immediately raises the price of the sandwich to $7. I did receive my order in a reasonable amount of time with how busy they were. This sandwich left a lot to be desired and was small. The bagel wasn’t good, had poor taste, and was too chewy with the toppings adding no flavor. I’ve had better at Burger King, McDonald’s, and my local bagel place. The orange juice while expensive was good. For over a $10 breakfast, I wouldn’t return here.

Einstein Bros. Bagels – Menu with Prices – 2900 East Airport Drive Terminal 4 – Gate 407, Ontario

Gmornin folks. So here we go already this morning… 3am wake up, turn in rental, hop shuttle to Airport, check in, navigate security and here I am…. Notice no mention of Bfast… due to hotel and its proximity to AP and the early hour, I was relegated to ONT finest… errr whatever was open at 0430…. ok, so Einstein Bros. Bagles… what could go wrong. Store, clean, bright, inviting and 8m all set for some food. The line is about a 15-min wait unless you are snooping and notice the self service Kiosks at the register… that’s a dumb place to place them as the congestion doesnt make it easy to access and there are no signs… Also, anyone who has read a few of my reviews knows I refrain from doing other people’s jobs lest I getting a discount for doing so…. I get ample time to formulate my order, rehearse in my head so i am clear for the server at the register. I notice that their POS system is having real issues with 5 of 6 folks. Damnit I get to the counter and i am greeted by a lady who just assumed the position 30-sec prior after relieving what i will assume is an off going staffer. Anyhew, I ask her for my rehearsed order as follows: “May I please have the single egg six cheese bacon and cheddar Bfast sandwich (it’s how it’s written on the menu) and an everything bagel toasted with butter and a schmear of onion and chive cream cheese.. ” Server calls back to me my order in an effort to confirm correctness… “I have a Applewood smoked bacon egg and cheese sandwich and an everything bagle………” wrong. I tell her no, and I repeat my order as previous… “May I please have the single egg six cheese bacon and cheddar Bfast sandwich (it’s how it’s written on the menu) and an everything bagel toasted with butter and a schmear of onion and chive cream cheese.. ” Server says yeah, it’s called an Applewood smoked bacon egg and cheese sandwich… Me… “maam, I want that sandwich there” as I point to the pic on the menu… I read the name off the board to her and she again repeats her Applewood smoked bacon egg and cheese sandwich and I say “May I please have the single egg six cheese bacon and cheddar Bfast sandwich” irritated by the seemingly obvious misconception communication I pay, take my receipt and go to the holding area for incorrect order delivery. Oh yeah, the POS… faithful to its initials, it is a real POS and I dont mean point of service/sale…. Finally clear and now the wait… Food comes quickly and piping hot… I peer in the bag and see my everything baggle peering back and a foil wrapped packet which I assume is my “May I please have the single egg six cheese bacon and cheddar Bfast sandwich” I depart and head out of the shop for my gate to eat, relax and prep for boarding… I figure I’ll save the everything for the flight later and eat the piping hot sammy in the foil packet…. you may recall it’s a “single egg six cheese bacon and cheddar Bfast sandwich” ****WRONG**** I got the plain bagle, bacon and egg sandwich vice what I ordered… As I pondered taking it back I look to the 15 minute line and notice it’s now likely a 20 min line as folks are lined up into the concourse now… the POS maching must really be acting up. Or the not so cordial/kind lady behind the counter is continuing to aggravate folks by changing their order… So, the good…. the plain bagle, bacon egg and cheese sammy wasn’t horrible but damn… it wasn’t what I paid for nor asked for.
