It’s finally open! The space is cramped albeit two stories, bit well lit. It’s strange to enter off the parking garage but it’s not as strange as the old Wild Ginger when it was at the Bravern. Anyway, The place is light and bright, sterile simple decor which looked clean. A certain style didn’t jump out at me but i don’t mind that. I like savory drinks and the Thai 75 was yummy! Fresh and I could taste the booze which I like. Came in a champagne glass. Could have been colder, have they should shake the non fizzy stuff on ice first. The pour was slightly low in the glass, mauve that’s how I got the gin taste and is much rather have that than too much sparkling wine take it over, so, great! The lemongrass garnish floated with the bubbles so there was noted joy over that simple physics trick at the table. We entertain easily. See had the suggested appetizer the Tod Mun… I swear I’ve met a guy names that before. Anyway it’s a fish cake with dry curry flavor. It wasn’t in sauce, and it was spongey but pretty good. The sauce was really yummy, tasted like a vinegar sweet and spicy thing. I would have eaten the cucumbers out of the sauce but the plate for whisked away so fast without permission that I didn’t have a chance. I felt weird telling her to bring that fingertip cup of sauce back so I didn’t. But I wanted to. Had to order the Pad See Ew and Phad Thai bc that’s our baseline. Phad See Ew was the best I’ve had anywhere! The Smokey beef flavor was delicious! The meat was tender and flavorful… like dark in color too like it was marinated or simmered in something that soaked in the flavor. Just looking at it you know it’s going to be good. and cut in smaller pieces which I like, I like bites with even distribution of flavor. The portion was fine. Not huge, but no complaints about it being too small (like at Thai Ginger in Factoria). Wish it came with more Chinese broccoli. There was a small amount of broccoli and a few leaves in it. The Phad Thai has some red onion in it and that was tasty… this dish was also very good. I like spicy food and we only did three stars, glad I held back bc I would do two. The spice overwhelmed the flavor for me. I wanted to taste it. It was that delish brownish sauce, not the red ketchup taste that shows up in some cheap Thai places. The small sprinkle of peanut and red pepper flakes on the plate were appreciated, I liked to control my own flavor. We had it with tofu (not fried) and there was a lot on the plate. I’m giving it four stars bc the service was a little green. I recommend the staff not look so stressed out. Maybe they were understaffed tonight. I’d like some unique standouts on the menu, like I love that Garlic Chicken with the fried basil in it from Chantanee… mmmm! I don’t go to that place anymore bc I don’t like the location, parking is too complicated, but I sure miss that dish! Thanks to the bartender for shouting a friendly goodbye to us as we left. Since the shop doesn’t have a clear foyer to signify that feeding time is over it felt nice to have that punctuate our visit.

The Similans Thai Eatery – Menu with Prices – 13005 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax

I had my first taste of Thai food 15 years ago: Pad See Ew with Beef at a Thai chain (which will remain unnamed), and my taste buds did somersaults at the first bite. But after 15 years of trying Thai here and trying it there, it began to taste about the same. Then came Similans. The best Thai I’ve had in years! On a recent snowy day, we ordered delivery – Pad See Ew with beef (can you tell this is my standard?), Hawaiian Fried Rice, Crispy Rolls, and Party Wings. Within an hour, the food was at our door and everything tasted fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The Pad See Ew is some of the best I’ve had in years. Every ingredient – rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, egg, and beef strips – is cooked perfectly on its own and together, the dish comes together beautifully. As many times as I’ve had this dish, it’d been a long time since I’d enjoyed like that. A must! The Hawaiian Fried Rice was a really nice surprise. The curry was light, not at all overpowering, which was important for a rice dish that already has a lot going on, packed with chicken, shrimp, pineapples, cashews, and veggies. A wonderful, comfort dish. The crispy rolls were as good as any you’d find elsewhere, but the wings were pretty special – crispy skin, tender meat, slathered in a sticky sweet and spicy sauce that begs you to lick your fingers. I may have just found my new Thai obsession.

Sawasdee Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 7546 Garners Ferry Rd unit 280B, Columbia

This place used to be Bangkok and has been bought out by new owners. I so desperately wanted to like it because I loved Bangkok and the location is very convenient for me. That being said, I was woefully disappointed with Sawasdee Kitchen. I called and ordered the pad thai and fried wontons, I asked for my meal to be a little spicy. They were quick, it took them less than 15 min to have it ready. The fried wontons were over cooked and the pad thai was incredibly bland. I had to put a lot of soy sauce on it for it to have any flavor and I typically don’t add soy sauce to my pad thai. The dish also had no spice at all. I think I’ll give this place one more try and order something else, but honestly this is largely because of its proximity to me. If I find another Thai place just as close, I don’t think I’d return.

Lychee Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 23450 N 19th Ave, Phoenix

This review is based off of my main dish. I ordered the spicy tuna roll. Which is difficult to mess up. Its spicy so theres a kick present. But its ever so slight. I had to amp it by adding wasabi to each bite. I ordered the General Tsos Chicken. Which on the menu has an indicator letting you know its spicy. It wasnt. It tasting literally like maple syrup. There was no spice present. There wasnt even a smokey flavor. It was just sweet. I couldnt eat another bite without an adjustment made. So i asked for a side of chili oil. Even their chili oil had literally no spice to it. And i used the entire portion of chili oil they provided me with. Probably because its very old or just poorly made. It didnt even make my chicken any better. I picked at the veggies at the plate, requested my check and left. The service was prompt, courteous and friendly. But I guess I feel that I dont go to a resturant for service necessarily but instead i go for the food. But thats just me. I dont believe I will be going back unless its for their Thai Iced Tea. Which I hate to say it was the only tasty thing I ordered. Disappointing considering its a new spot. But Im hoping they make adjustments to their menu otherwise they may not last. Especially since Panda Express is just up the street with better flavors.

Krungthep Thai – Menu with Prices – 1141 Rice St, St Paul

The restaurant itself had excellent décor and was extremely neat and clean. It’s a very well decorated Thai restaurant with your traditional gold embossed pots, statues, and paintings and a very nice stone flooring. The service was also decently good.! The menu was expansive (maybe too many items actually)… so great variety! I came here with a friend to catch up and just hang out.. I ordered the Seafood Hot Plate which was like a collection of oven baked then pan grilled calamari, snow crab legs (shell on), mussels, and shrimp on top of napa cabbage and glass noodles.. All mixed and cooked with a a red sauce that tasted a lot like kimchi. It was interesting.. I’m not a kimchi fan, but it wasn’t bad.. Served on a fajita-like cast iron plate. My buddy ordered their Nam Tok?; it’s like a Thai fried rice with ginger.. it wasn’t bad, but wasn’t very good. It was a bit chunky and I totally did not taste the love. No lime flavor, not much nam flavor, a bare taste of ginger… We also ordered another dish that was like stir fried chicken in a tomato/red/chili sauce… light sauce a but liquidy, but not really stand-out good either… A friend though (the one who recommended Krungthep) did recommend their currys as “Go-to”. A nice hang-out spot with good food variety, but I’d be hesitant to go back.. :/

MaDee Thai Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 401 E 17th St, Costa Mesa

What Grace N. said… Best Thai food in OC. I’ve been exploring Thai food for the past 20 years. Thai food used to be authentic and hard to find. Now it’s everywhere and completely Americanized. I’ll use one of my favorite dishes as an example, Pad Krapow. Pad Krapow consists of meat such as pork, chicken, beef, and seafood stir fried with Thai holy basil and garlic. It is served with rice and topped up (optional) with fried eggs . The main seasonings are soy sauce, Thai fish sauce, oyster sauce, cane sugar, and bird’s eye chili. This dish is typically somewhat spicy due to the bird chilies. When it’s done authentically, the flavor of the basil and the garlic are dominant. Lastly the flavor works best when the pork or chicken is ground. In almost any Thai restaurant in OC this dish is sliced chicken breast in oyster sauce with no chilies and some bell pepper. If that sounds bland, it is. The food at Ma Dee is authentic Bangkok street food. Everything from the noodle dishes to the soups are amazing. It’s a hole in the wall but so good.

Hot n spicy – Menu with Prices – 4602 Monona Dr, Madison

I am kicking myself for not going here sooner. Went for the first time on Sunday, came back on Friday for more! Bottom line is if you want some fantastic Lao and Thai food look no further. The first time I went, my husband and I grabbed the Third Wheel, which is a sampler of almost all the appetizer options. While everything was delicious, the chicken satay is probably the best I’ve had in Madison and didn’t even need the delicious peanut sauce that accompanied it. My husband’s favorite part was the beef meatballs, which are fried with a sweet sauce. We also got the Pad See Ewe, loaded with fresh veg and medium was perfectly spicy. Definitely don’t skip out on a sesame ball or two – these are perfectly crisp on the outside with red bean paste in the middle. Only $1 and absolutely worth it. When I went back I got the fried rice and phad Thai both with chicken. Again, totally recommend both. The portion sizes are big enough that I have leftovers to look forward to in my fridge. The happy bonus with all of this is spending some time wandering around Viet Hoa while I waited for my order. They have some fantastic produce you won’t find anywhere else. All in all I can’t recommend Hot and Spicy enough – looking forward to cooler months and indulging in their amazing looking soups.

Jasmine Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 2017 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville

My wife and I tried Jasmine Thai for the first time yesterday. Although it is close to our home, it’s not on a part of Wade Hampton that we are on frequently so we haven’t gone until now. Also and I hate to admit, the times we have driven by it just didn’t look that appealing in that small strip mall. Anyway we wanted to try something new and we are glad we did. I have to say this is by far the best Thai Cuisine we’ve had in Greenville since moving here in 2013. My wife started with the Tom Yum Kai thai spicy soup with exotic thai herbs with mushroom, lime juice, lemongrass, galangal, cilantro and added shrimp. We shared several items including Pineapple Fried Rice, stir fried jasmine rice with egg, pineapple chunks, curry powder, raisins, scallions, cashew nuts and onions, The Pad See, stir fried wide rice noodle, egg, broccoli, carrots and thai sweet soy sauce, added shrimp and Mix Vegetables with broccoli, cabbages, carrots, onions, mushroom, soy bean paste.Everything was fresh and delicious. The prices are very resonable and the service was attentive, friendly and just perfect! Jasmine Thai is now our Go to Thai place of choice!

Thai Diamond Bar.B.Q. – Menu with Prices – 9581 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

Ordered some thai food via grub hub from here. Food came in a timely fashion. I ordered the following: 1. Thai bbq pork spare ribs- these were good. Large pieces. Tender. Flavoring though was so so, wish it was bolder or spicier. But it fell more on the bland side. But I do appreciate the tenderness of it. 2. Garlic and pepper beef- thinly sliced beef. On the tender side as well. But flavors were really lacking. Couldn’t taste the garlic at all. A good amount of beef though compared to peppers. 3. Fillet of fish in mint leaves- not spicy at all. Ok size fish pieces. Fish was cooked well. 4. Coconut soup- this soup made my review go from a solid 3 star to a 4 star review. You get some thai places, where there coconut soup is just so spicy, it’ll burn your mouth. Some places are just so spicy it actually detracts from the flavor. Yes this one was about a 4/10 on my spicy level, but it really allowed me to taste all the flavors. The coconut, the lemon grass, the depths of flavors. It was a flavor explosion in my mouth!! I had it with chicken, which was tender and delicious. I can see myself ordering this soup on a cold night or if I’m under the weather. It was truly one of the best thai coconut soup I’ve ever had!!! Overall I didnt actually go in so there’s an aspect of this place I didn’t experience, but I definitely wouldn’t mind coming in to try other traditional thai dishes such as their pad thai, fried rice, and definitely their coconut soup again!!

Tibet Bowl & Sushi – Menu with Prices – 50 Main St, Salt Lake City

Sad to say this place is pretty terrible, i love nepalese food especially momo, unfortunately every component of the momo was bad, the dumpling shell was too thick and bread-y tasting, the meat filling had an offputting old tinge taste to it, and the sauce although it smelled excellent didnt have much flavor to it at all and was kinda creamy like tikka masala sauce or something, i didnt try the sushi but that should have been the red flag from the get go, sushi and nepalese food do not go together just like sushi and chinese food dont go together how do people not understand this!!!

Racha Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 805 N Battlefield Blvd #117, Chesapeake

I enjoyed my experience here. I was craving a whole fried fish with tamarind sauce and they obliged. (I had a favorite dish from a Thai restaurant in NY when I lived there and this was the closest I could get to that dish.) It was a large portion of whole tilapia fish with the sauce that was tasty and had just a little spice. I ordered it with white rice. (I actually think I should have ordered it a bit more spicy, but the sauce was still sweet and had great flavor.) The restaurant is medium-sized and it wasn’t crowded the Sunday I visited. The waitress was polite and prompt. The atmosphere is casual and the location is near one of my favorite Caribbean restaurants, Cutlass Grille. I was hard-pressed to find whole fish (it just doesn’t seem to be popular in Hampton Roads, and I like my fish cooked whole with the head) but after searching online, I found Racha. I have yet to try their other Thai dishes but will surely be back.

Aroy Thai and Sushi – Menu with Prices – 5306 Seminole Blvd, St. Petersburg

As our olde post favorite Thai restaurant in Madeira Beach had closed last year (Café De Bangkok), our quest for a replacement establishment has officially ended. We have frequented Aroy Thai at least a dozen times and it is now officially our personal favorite Thai restaurant close to Madeira Beach. We’ve regularly have tried their Green and Panang Curries, Phad Thai, Garlic Pepper, Pad Kee-Mao, Pineapple Fried Rice, Thai Basil and Cashew Nut entree’s along with the “Fresh Roll” appetizer. Either we dine in or carry out occasionally and most recently tried Door Dash Delivery. The food tastes very fresh and is hot and delicious. We try to stay Plant Based eaters, almost vegan and Aroy Thai has been a great choice in our local eating establishments. The restaurant has always been clean and the service very good. Another place that I coin the phrase “Small Joint-huge on flavor!”. If you’re a Thai foodie, it’s worth a try on Seminole Blvd just south of the 54th Ave N traffic light, west side. We Love it! I Highly recommend!

Viet Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 216 Horton St E, London

This was our first time at Viet-Thai Restaurant. We (3 of us) were told to seat ourselves as soon as we walked in. The restaurant is very small with only 6 or 7 tables. It definitely has a ‘hole in the wall’ feel to it and a bit of a strange smell. Regardless, we sat down and decided to give it a try. The waitress (owner?) brought us a pot of tepid tea and then a few minutes later, glasses of ice water. We ordered (from the waitress, not by writing our own orders as is usual at Vietnamese restaurants) and the waitress asked each of us if we wanted our food spicy or not. Then we waited about 5 minutes until my soup arrived. I ordered a small brisket pho with 1/2 noodles. The soup was indeed small. It was probably half the size of a small pho at other Vietnamese restaurants. The broth tasted nothing like pho. It was very spicy (had chopped Thai bird chilies in it) but other than being spicy, it wasn’t very flavourful. I added soy sauce and a little hoisin as that’s what was available. It wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t pho. The brisket was very tough and chewy and there was maybe 1-2 oz. of it in the whole bowl of soup. Our son ordered Singapore vermicelli and it came about 5 minutes after my soup. It was nothing like the usual Singapore vermicelli as it was topped with broccoli and cauliflower. He had asked for mild and it was exactly that. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavour was good, but it was a bit sweet. The pieces of egg were also nicely cooked. The broccoli and cauliflower were lacking flavour, as if they’d been thrown in as an after thought. My husband ordered the house special rice dish. It came with grilled pork, which was tasty (if a tiny bit overcooked), egg (folded like an omelette) which was very tasty although he had expected a sunny side up egg as is usual with this dish and 3 shrimp which cooked perfectly. There was also some shredded lettuce on the plate. All in all, the food was pretty tasty (hence the 3-star review) but the main problem was that there was nothing Vietnamese or Thai about any of the dishes. Our best guess is that this is ‘Vietnamese’ food cooked by a Chinese cook. The washrooms seemed clean enough and the prices were very reasonable. Not bad if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful meal but just don’t expect it to be authentic Vietnamese or Thai food.
