In the food court and not sure what I wanted to decided on Thai Express for the Pad Sew. I have had it a few times from Thai Express and it can be greasy and not much protein but it was what I craved when left with food court choices. I ordered my food to go and was waiting for it. The customer in front of me ordered and the gave it to her on a plate but she wanted it to go. I saw them put it into a box and then the staff rinses the plate with water to reuse. Ewww, they can’t afford to throw out a ten cent plate even though they charge more than $10 a meal? What if the next person had an allergy to what was on the plate previously? They gave me my meal in a larger container and not their usual take out box. The food tasted ok when I was eating it but in the middle of the night I woke up sick. Will definitely stay away from Thai Express in the future.

Tapioca Express – Menu with Prices – 1480 Eastlake Pkwy Ste.903, Chula Vista

3 stars because I have high expectations from tapioca express. I love my thai tea with boba. I had a craving for a cup last night but the usual tapioca express I go to was closed. So with the help of Google I found this one. Filled with relief and joy I gladly drove the 16 minutes to this restaurant. I ordered my usual drink. Except this drink did not taste like the drink I desired. It tasted like heavy cream or condensation milk. I couldn’t taste the black tea.I understand the aspects of milk tea but it was to much milk…. To top it off the boba was hard and unfresh as if they were left out to dry and the effort to salvage them was useless. Overall the customer service was great the atmosphere was nice too. I just wont visit this place again at 10pm. Lesson learned

Thai Express – Menu with Prices – South Edmonton Common, 1921 98 St NW, Edmonton

I have frequented this Thai Express on a few occasions and I was pleasantly surprised by both the interior decor and the quality of the food. Just as I have learned not to go to a Chopped Leaf that is not the Sherwood Park location, I have learned that Thai Express South Edmonton Common is definitely a cut above the other locations here in Edmonton, Alberta. When you walk into this TE, you are greeted with clean modern styles, with a mural on the wall, a nice wood back splash, beautiful oversize floor tiles, and an overall welcoming feel. The large TV helps keep you distracted while you’re waiting in line to make your order. Food wise, the employees are skilled, and the food is prepared with good “wok hay”. I experienced this place once, and I couldn’t justify going to some of the other food court locations afterwards unless I was desperate. Expansion and quality control are always issues, but this Thai Express is keeping standards high. Of course, you do get the odd new employee who doesn’t quite have the skills quite yet, but they clearly look like they’re trying.

Sushi Joint – Menu with Prices – 600 S Harbor Blvd, Fullerton

I really wanted to rate this establishment higher. They are very nice and would be a great place to make a hang out. If you have food allergies, I do not recommend this place. Our group came in a few weeks ago. We told the waitress that one had an onion allergy, including green onion (me) and another had an allergy to peppers. They use fried onions to garnish everything. I was able to ask for it on the side. They complied. Green onions were on two of the rolls. I tried hard to pick it off. They also put chili in the garlic edamame. That ingredient was not mentioned in the menu. We told the waitress, she did not attempt to rectify the situation. We ended up ordering regular edamame so the chili allergy person could still enjoy. The next came chili oil. We asked to not have chili oil in any roll and reminded the waitress of the chili allergy. Yet the chili oil 2/3rds of our order. We ended leaving with tons of GI issues. Even with that being said, we wanted to like this place. I came back a week later to for a second chance. They were pretty negligent on the food allergy. But I thought with one person, one allergy it might be a little more manageable. I sat at the bar area and had direct contact with my chef. I explained to him no onions. I ordered a sashimi plate specifically to not have a chance to have food contamination. I got a plate with a third of it covered in the fried onions. I told him I was allergic, he “remade” my dish fast. I found out he replaced the top layer of fish and not the bottom layer. I found bits a pieces of onions well into my layers. I went home and was sick for the rest of the night. For the restaurant, please pay attention to your customers needs. I spent two of my days off miserably sick. Had you have listened, it could have been prevented. Your desire to make the food in your specific manner does not trump what your customers want. If you do not like to ask for changes, this would he a good place to try.

Thai Bistro – Menu with Prices – 4325 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh

I love Thai Food and have been to many Thai Resturants, including two stays in Thailand. I was looking for a quick place to grab a bite and noticed the Thai Bistro. While located in a shopping mall I had great hopes that I would find a gem in the food court. The store front is very appealing. The workers are very friendly. The samples of the chicken flow across the counter. The chicken over all tastes good, but not really Thai. Adding some cilantro, lemon grass, fish sauce and some Thai chilies to the mix would certainly improve upon the authenticity. The Singapore Noodles and lo mein are bland. Over all it is not that different than the Mandarin Express four spaces to the left. Bring in some of the real Thai flavors and the place might be a hit. As it stands the place sells some good stir-fried chicken, but more fast food Chinese than Thai.

Laos/Thai Foods Menu with Prices 1818 E Pioneer Pkwy #192, Arlington

Delicious food at a very reasonable price! Located inside the food court of Ben Thanh plaza, probably the main reason why it took me forever to finally give them a try. We came about 45mins before they close, but good things there were still a whole bunch of people eating and drinking in the general seating area. The staff/owner was happy to take our order instead of the usual inconvenient/annoyed reaction we would get coming to an Asian restaurant 30-45mins before they close. I was craving papaya salad, so was excited to try it. Can’t remember if they have both Laos and Thai versions, but we definitely had the Laos papaya salad with the raw crab. The flavor was good, but I would like it much more if it was more sour and less sweet. Gonna give them benefits of the doubt and definitely have to order it again. All the dishes we ordered were pretty good size. They also have fresh sugar cane juice. For a 32oz (or roughly, for sure larger than 24oz lol), it’s only $5, which is pretty darn cheap compares to other places. Our usual go to place is Nalinh all the way in Irving. This is a nice substitution for when we don’t feel like driving too far.

Ruby Thai Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 6330 Park City Center, Lancaster

Ruby Thai Kitchen is a good place to stop for fast food style Asian food, which is not really authentic Thai food, but closer to being like “Panda Express” Chinese food. They offer several Thai style meat dishes (mostly chicken choices), noodles, rice, vegetables, fried appetizers, Coke products, and bottled drinks. As for the pricing, they offer 1 Meat ($4.99 w 1 side/$5.59 w 2 sides), 2 Meats ($5.99 w 1 side/$6.59 w 2 sides), 3 Meats ($6.99 w 1 side/$7.59 w 2 sides), and Kids Meal ($4.59 with 1 meat, 1 side, & drink). Add an appetizer for $0.99 more. While shopping at Park City Center, I stopped in the food court for some dinner. I went with the 1 Meat 2 Sides ($5.59) and chose Thai Spicy Chicken with Veg Fried Rice, and Noodles and an Egg Roll ($0.99). The portion of food was good and just right. The main dish had boneless breaded cubed chicken pieces, celery, peppers, and onions, which a mild spicy taste. The noodles (lo mein) with onions was soft and oily. The fried rice had a mix of peas , carrots, and onion. The egg roll was quite good, which was filled with a dense mixture of carrot, cabbage, and soft chicken in a firm wrap shell, not greasy. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner in the food court which actually tasted pretty good, though it was similar to quick service Chinese food. (3.6 stars)

Tuk Tuk Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1132 Maunakea St, Honolulu

As I do my unofficial rounds in Chinatown as the Unofficial Honolulu Chinatown Mayor, I’ve passed Tuk Tuk Cafe (TTK) many, many times. I’ve seen many people eat the food from here and it looks promising. I’ve seen many Thai people eat here which to me is a good indicator of their authenticity. Located in the Mauka side of Maunakea Marketplace Food Court , TTC is one of two Thai food stalls in this area. It’s operated by 3 females who work in sync to deliver plates of food. The ordering process is simple. Look up at their menu of pictures with assigned numbers to each dish. Menu is limited but a decent selection to choose from. I wasn’t hungry where I needed to eat volume (plate lunch with 2 scoops rice and mac salad) I opted for #8 Pad Woon Sen. You can select your protein and for a $1 more I ended up with seafood. After paying for my meal I sat down in the dining area with AIR CONDITIONING. After many, many months of HOT and uncomfortable conditions in the Maunakea Marketplace Food Court, you can sit and enjoy a meal here now. Food is made-to-order here. It’s a 3-person crew here where one takes your order and collects money, the other preps the ingredients and the other is behind the gas stove cooking. There was a person in front of me and my waiting time was minimal. The friendly elderly lady called me when my food was ready. She asked if I wanted to add condiments and had me check my food before packing it. They have a small condiment bar where I grabbed some chili sauce and fish sauce. The verdict – – food was really good. It somewhat reminded me of the street food I had when I visited Thailand. I enjoyed the long rice cooked thoroughly and seasoned well. To be honest I wasn’t really thrilled with the seafood inside. They put processed fish balls cut in half, calamari and odd pieces of shrimp that made me wonder why. It wasn’t the full size. A large chunk of the shrimp’s body had been severed off… The very next day, I went back and this time I opted for fried chicken wings. Because this is made-to-order I was advised a 15-minute wait which was fine. While chilling in the nice AC area I was soon called upon as my wings were ready. The wings were marinated nicely as it was flavorful. They don’t use a batter coating so it was just chicken. An order gave you 4 full wings accompanied with a sweet chili sauce. To be frank, the wings were not what I was expecting but they were tasty. Overall, a very solid place if you’re looking to get Thai Food in Chinatown. With AC in the dining area you can now sit down and enjoy an authentic meal in the food court.

Willie Jewell’s Bar-B-Q – Menu with Prices – 105 Murabella Pkwy, St. Augustine

I have just moved into the area and have eaten here a total of 4 times including today 10/10/2019. I was so impressed the first three times being served by the same person the first 3 times. The food was good but the banana pudding was and is really good. The servers were quick to explain how to order, how to use the app and that I can call in. A manager previously let me know that I can order larger sizes of banana pudding given availability and calling ahead. I did that today to have a young lady tell me “No, you can not order the larger size without calling ahead. We can charge you for additional single sizes.” I explained that I indeed called ahead and she said, “Well the girl that answered didn’t realize you were ordering.” Although I followed directions she wanted to penalize me for their error. She then asked the other girl and someone in the back if I had called and if they had enough and said fine. (I’m standing there feeling confronted and as if I’ve done something wrong.) When my order arrived they still gave me 3 little single servings versus the pint in a one pint container that I have purchased before. I was purchasing this for a group and this was not appropriate. I will not return and cannot understand why such a stance for my order and debating with me and causing a stir. I felt set up for failure as all previous encounters were the opposite. This has demonstrated a lack of consistency in customer service and relations. So many other BBQ places to go and I will do just that. Unfortunate.

Viet Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 216 Horton St E, London

This was our first time at Viet-Thai Restaurant. We (3 of us) were told to seat ourselves as soon as we walked in. The restaurant is very small with only 6 or 7 tables. It definitely has a ‘hole in the wall’ feel to it and a bit of a strange smell. Regardless, we sat down and decided to give it a try. The waitress (owner?) brought us a pot of tepid tea and then a few minutes later, glasses of ice water. We ordered (from the waitress, not by writing our own orders as is usual at Vietnamese restaurants) and the waitress asked each of us if we wanted our food spicy or not. Then we waited about 5 minutes until my soup arrived. I ordered a small brisket pho with 1/2 noodles. The soup was indeed small. It was probably half the size of a small pho at other Vietnamese restaurants. The broth tasted nothing like pho. It was very spicy (had chopped Thai bird chilies in it) but other than being spicy, it wasn’t very flavourful. I added soy sauce and a little hoisin as that’s what was available. It wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t pho. The brisket was very tough and chewy and there was maybe 1-2 oz. of it in the whole bowl of soup. Our son ordered Singapore vermicelli and it came about 5 minutes after my soup. It was nothing like the usual Singapore vermicelli as it was topped with broccoli and cauliflower. He had asked for mild and it was exactly that. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavour was good, but it was a bit sweet. The pieces of egg were also nicely cooked. The broccoli and cauliflower were lacking flavour, as if they’d been thrown in as an after thought. My husband ordered the house special rice dish. It came with grilled pork, which was tasty (if a tiny bit overcooked), egg (folded like an omelette) which was very tasty although he had expected a sunny side up egg as is usual with this dish and 3 shrimp which cooked perfectly. There was also some shredded lettuce on the plate. All in all, the food was pretty tasty (hence the 3-star review) but the main problem was that there was nothing Vietnamese or Thai about any of the dishes. Our best guess is that this is ‘Vietnamese’ food cooked by a Chinese cook. The washrooms seemed clean enough and the prices were very reasonable. Not bad if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful meal but just don’t expect it to be authentic Vietnamese or Thai food.

Ginger Thai – Menu with Prices – 27110 Cinco Ranch Blvd #1100, Katy

Decided we wanted Thai tonight and did not want to go to the usual place we almost always go to for Pad Thai. Small restaurant in a small strip mall on Cinco Ranch Boulevard. Very clean and organized. We were greeted by a young man who turned out to be our server. He was very friendly and polite. Very helpful too. We decided to get the green papaya salad. A spicy dish with green papaya shredded with carrots, peanuts, daikon, tomatoes and spices. All of the ingredients finely sliced. It was delicious. $9.95 for a large enough portion for 2 people to share. Although the menu was extensive with Thai dishes and Sushi we opted to try their version of Pad Thai. My wife ordered the chicken in a non spicy version. Her dish was $11.99. She loved it. Another huge portion. She loved how fresh all of the ingredients seemed to be. I had the shrimp Pad Thai $13.99. I ordered it by their heat scale of 2 out of three peppers. It was spicy but not overly spicy. Mine too tasted very fresh. It had 8 large grilled shrimp. Just wish they had taken the tails off before cooking or serving the dish. My wife had jasmine hot tea with her meal. $2.50. I had the iced Thai tea. $3.25. I have never had this particular drink before and probably will not ever have it again. It was way too sweet for my taste, plus had a kind of clove finish that I did not care for either. Just not my cup of tea I guess. Overall we had a very nice dining experience and will certainly return when the mood for Thai food strikes us again. Happy we found this place so close to home.

LNK Food Plaza – Menu with Prices – 3111 NW 12th St, Lincoln

With all the choices at LNK you would think we would find something we liked between the four people in our party. Below are the places we ordered from, the item ordered and the person’s reaction when I asked them: TC’s Chicken: 4 piece chicken with fries- “it’s okay.” Big Ten Subs: Italian Sub – “it’s okay.” Samui Thai and Chinese Food – General Tso’s with Crab Rangoon – “it’s okay.” Samui Thai and Chinese Food – Chicken Pad Thai with Potstickers- “the potstickers are good, the Pad Thai is okay.” So… I’m sure you noticed a trend. Everything we ordered from three of the four restaurants was “okay” (and yes, they really all said the same thing). I wouldn’t recommend trying LNK’s. There is a McDonald’s across the street that you might want to try though. Happy eating Yelpers!

Great Wraps – Menu with Prices – THE OAKS MALL, 6419 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville

I have tried just about everything else in the Oaks Mall food court, except for this place, so I figured it was time to give something new a try. Big mistake. This place is very unclean in the way that they operate. I ordered a Chipotle Chicken wrap. Now im sure we are all familiar with places like this, where they have little containers full of the ingredients places right up there in front of you for all to see. This place operates that way, but apparently not with the bean and corn salsa that they use to make the Chipotle wrap, because I watched the clerk, the person preparing my meal, get the container full of these ingredients, from the back of the sink in the back room, and proceed to scoop this salsa INTO my wrap. She did not get it from a hot holding unit, or a fridge, but from the back of a dirty sink. Now, at this point, I was pretty disgusted, but figured id let this play out, already knowing I was going somewhere else to eat, just to see how horrifying it could possibly get. So, once my bacteria ridden wrap was put together, I was asked if I wanted a drink, and figured, there was no way a smoothie could possibly be unsanitary, so I ordered a Tropicolada smoothie, with bananas, coconut, and pineapple in it. But oh was I mistaken. Now I have to give it to them, they do use fresh bananas, but whilst in the middle of making my smoothie, she proceeded to throw the left over pieces of the banana into a container of what looked like old hummus, and a mixture of scraps from other foods, which I assumed she was using as a little trash can for a moment. BUT, to my absolute horror, after blending my smoothie for a bit, she proceeded to take the left over banana pieces out of the container. Covered in whatever filth and food borne illnesses may have been inside that recepticle, she tossed those pieces INTO my smoothie. At this point, I was too disgusted to stick around any longer, so while she was finishing up my surprise filled meal, I did what any sane person would do, and turned around, and just walked away. Needless to say, I will never even glance at this place again, and if you value your health in any way, please do yourself a favor and eat anywhere else.
