Hawaiian Kitchen | Catering Service | Catering Duluth | Corporate Party Catering – Menu with Prices – 3920 Peachtree Industrial Blvd #1, Duluth

So, I recently saw this pop up on my Yelp list when looking for food in Duluth, and I’ve always wanted to try Hawaiian food. I drove 40 minutes (I don’t live in the area) to MEAT up with a friend (hah, get it? meat? lokomoko?) to have lunch there. It’s fairly new and somewhat small. I think there were 2-3 tables of families enjoying lunch, so there were only the high table seats (4-5 of them) on the left side that were left. However, we were warmly welcomed by the owner — bro, she is so so so kind. We ordered the Waikiki Special (there are a couple) that had the fried chicken cutlet and garlic shrimp w/ fried rice, glass noodles, and macaroni salad and the Loko Moko, which I was the most excited about trying. It’s a dish that consists of sunny side up eggs over a layer of gravy which is sitting on top of a hamburger patty which was sitting on top of a mound of steamed white rice. The prices are absolutely phenomenal for the amount of food you’re getting! The service was super awesome, shout out to you, mam! I’d definitely say that the Loko Moko was my favorite of the two. The patty was seasoned really well, the gravy tasted great, and there was so much rice I was ready to take a nap. The Special was okay. The shrimp were good, the cutlet was crispy (a little dry), noodles were okay, mac salad was good, but the fried rice didn’t seem.. fried, tasted pretty similar to the steamed rice besides the bits of fried garlic (which were bomb). Overall, small place, great service, with good portions for the prices. I definitely recommend the Loko Moko. I’m gonna ask for extra gravy next time cause it was fiiiiiire.

Big Island | Kona Mix Plate Menu with Prices 680 SW Powerhouse Dr #1004, Bend

I LOVE Hawaii and LOVE Hawaiian food. We spend every summer in the islands, so I’d consider myself a Hawaiian food snob. I know my Hawaiian food. When I saw this place and read the yelp reviews, I figured we should try it. I was craving a good loco moco. Unfortunately I was hugely disappointed. I will say, the the ladies working behind the counter that evening were the epitome of Hawaiian hospitality. They were welcoming, friendly and patient with our group as we pondered the menu and made our selections. Their service was quick, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Those other Yelpers claiming this is authentic Hawaiian food that taste likes your in the islands obvious don’t know what they’re talking about. Loco Moco: the portion size was good. Unfortunately the hamburger patty lacked flavor, was over cooked and tasted burnt. The gravy (which makes or breaks a good loco moco) was just okay and there definitely was not enough of it smothering my rice and eggs and tasteless burger. Chicken Katsu: Decent portion size, but it tasted like fish. They must’ve fried it in the same oil they fry their fish in and/ or the oil must’ve been old. Chicken teriyaki–the chicken was dry and over cooked. The teriyaki sauce, nothing special, tasted like it was out of a store bought jar. The Mac salad-bleh. And what Hawaiian restaurant doesn’t serve spam musubi!?!?!? No spam, can’t really be Hawaiian. If you’re looking for authentic, yummy Hawaiian food and local plates in Bend, you should look elsewhere, as you will be disappointed. (Though you’ll be disappointed in a friendly Hawaiian atmosphere.)

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue – Menu with Prices – 1900 Fulton Ave, Sacramento

Mahalo to the owners for opening up an L&L in the Arden-Arcade area! The food is so good and the portions are generous for the price. Nothing fancy, but just an authentic Hawaiian “plate lunch,” made up of grilled meats or panko fried shrimp and chicken, mac salad (heavy on the mayo, of course), and lots of white rice (although, I sub steamed veggies). This recent visit, I got the “seafood combo” with bbq chicken. Loved the fried shrimp that were plump, hot, not oily, and crispy. Chicken was flavorful and tender. The one piece of fried fish was very thin. I would not order again. The steamed carrots and broccoli were fresh and plentiful. The mac salad is my one guilty carb pleasure! It’s oh-so-sinful, if you like that Hawaiian-style of macaroni salad (PRO TIP: They do offer a “low carb” plate of just grilled meats and eggs, no rice and no mac salad.) Boyfriend had the loco moco, and finished it all with no complaints. Staff was friendly and efficient, as our food came up in a timely manner. The place is pretty small, with maybe 6 or so tables, one of which was being used to store boxes of containers. There is a cute little outside patio in the parking lot. Restroom access is from outside too. When we left, I noticed another Hawaiian restaurant in the strip mall right around the corner. Brave of them to open within walking distance of a known chain with similar food! I’m willing to try them, but my loyalty will always be with L&L!

Ono Hawaiian BBQ – Menu with Prices – 15560 N Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd, Scottsdale

Years ago, this location started out strong with many things on the menu identical to Hawaii plate lunches and other island comfort foods such as Saimin. I discovered that it is a Mainland franchise that had a goal to bring Hawaiian local food to the Mainland. It very much reminded me of a really clean Zippy’s (found in HI only) or an L&L. Went back last week and was disappointed to find that the menu has become pretty narrowly focused on chicken plate variations that will appeal to the masses (grilled with teriyaki, breaded and fried like katsu, grilled with some other sauce that is spicy, grilled with some other sauce that is sweeter, etc.) Gone is the Saimin, Hawaiian poi plate, loco moco, etc. They did have Kalua Pork but no Lau Lau or poi to go with it. They also had SPAM musubi which was serviceable but pricey ($4.25 for 2 small ones) and hastily put together. Paying that much for a slice of SPAM topping a rice rectangle wrapped in nori kind of made me die a little inside. The ingredients cost probably all of 75 cents and the labor looked like it took about 6 seconds to assemble. I was disappointed. The place is clean. The service was quick. The food I tasted wasn’t bad but the Aloha spirit is missing (service is more lunch lady strict than Island laid back), the menu selection is very focused on Mainland tastes (I supposed they are limited by supply and demand and they can really only make what they can sell to the local area palates), and there is really a lack of what I would consider classic Hawaiian drive inn style plate lunch selections. (No chili, no Saimin, no Lau Lau, no Lomi Lomi salmon, no beef stew, no sweet and sour, etc., etc.) Lastly, I think the portions could be a bit larger, especially for the steam rice and Mac salad. Both looked like they were scooped with a gelato sample scooper than a regular scoop. I know that seems petty in this day and age of obese Americans and I certainly don’t need a bigger portion but if anyone has every had an authentic plate lunch in HI, you know what I’m talking about. Ever seen a skinny Hawaiian? You know exactly what I’m talking about! The name “Ono Hawaiian” for the business would seem to be a slight misnomer since it wasn’t exceptionally ono (Hawaiian for good to eat or delicious) nor was it very Hawaiian. If they renamed it “Chicken Focused for Mainland Tastes” it would be much more accurate and perhaps I would then have a much different impression of it when I walked in the door. A simple name change would probably shoot my review up to 3+ stars for managing my expectations.

Fresh Mozzarella Pizzeria – Sarasota – Menu with Prices – 2289 Ringling Blvd, Sarasota

Family owned classic New York style pizza joint. A huge upgrade over the former establishment “Ringling Pizza”. While the slice sizes aren’t what you would expect if your coming from the Northeast the smaller slices pack all the flavors you could ask for. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. If you’re dining out they’ve got the classic pleather booths to make your booty sore if you sit for to long but there’s a pool table so get your but up and get a game in while you sip on a beer wait g for your pizza. We only ate pizza, garlic knots, and a side of broccoli but all three were A+ and the family eating behind us raves about the homestyle Italian dishes and fried calamari. Best new spot in town.

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ – Menu with Prices – 2402 W Walnut St, Garland

Ohana Hawaiian is decent food, but I’m just personally not a fan. I would probably spend my money elsewhere in the future. – Spam Musubi: An order of this comes with 2 musubis. My issue with this is that the spam was ehh (didn’t have much flavor beyond the original saltiness), sitting on top of a BED of rice (like we’re talking more than half a cup of rice lol), and then wrapped in seaweed. I love spam musubis, but this was just A-OK. + Hawaiian Fried Rice: I’d give this a 3.5 or 4*. If you like pineapple, you may like this. It has diced pineapples, diced spam, egg, and it’s tossed with rice. The rice was fairly bland, so make sure you’re picking up a piece of spam to get some flavor! / Short Rib Plate: Okay, so I saw that EVERYONE was raving about this plate. I love galbi/short ribs, so I was down. Ordered this, but the meat is cut pretty thin. Flavor was yum, though. I don’t care for macaroni salad, so I can’t speak to that much. The veggies were OK (not much flavor). It comes with white rice, or you can swap for fried rice only. Would I get this again? Prob not, lol. Overall, I just wasn’t impressed. ? But the service was nice! ?

Sunshine Café – Menu with Prices – 111 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie

I got a hamburger and hubby got the chicken fried steak, cheese grits, biscuits, gravy and 2 egs over easy. Everything was delicious. It’s great for breakfast food and good for lunch. My hamburger came with French fries.

Moâ??s Hut Wichita – Menu with Prices – 2800 E Central Ave, Wichita

Hello everyone. Today I was able to try something new, due to a friend, Kaimi Tiny Vincent. This is a new Hawaiian eatery in central wichita. The best part of it all; they have KETO options on the menu!!! Yes you heard it here first, Keto. I had a delicious fried chicken cutlet that was encrusted in ground pork rinds and that had been dredged in egg prior to the crust being added. It was served on a bed of mixed greens and their own special Keto salad dressing which had a nice spicy kick to it. My son had a wonderful garlic shrimp served with macaroni salad and rice. Every plate is served with gently steamed cabbage. It was so good I took a Hawaiian beef burrito home toy husband which he gobbled up without haste. In it was a wonderful marinated steak with kimchi fried rice (spicy) and let me tell you, we all took a bite and decided this establishment is definitely on our short list of places to go to again! Just for added measure, they offer a Keto burger as well for all of my fellow Keto-ers. Enjoy !!!

Bernies Pizza Parlor – Menu with Prices – 13522 Cottner St, Omaha

About a week ago we were helping our parents who brought out some pizza they’d ordered. It was hamburger. The crust looked homemade, was the perfect combo of thin & thick, the meat crumbly but not too tiny & just the right amount of sauce. Took a bite, & we both said, “Mmm, yummy.” Now, normally we don’t order hamburger pizza, but this was GOOD!! They said they’d picked it up at Bernie’s. We used to love â?¥? getting garlic cheese bread there, & are pleased to hear they have relaunched, supposedly with the original Bernie himself at the helm on launch night. (?) If so, he’s cool. Think we’ll go get some more Bernie’s pizza tomorrow for dinner.

Kotta Japanese Grill – Menu with Prices – 2862 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem

I was really disappointed in this place. I may have come on a wrong night? I don’t know. We got two orders one with chicken, shrimp, fried rice, broccoli, and carrots. The other was filet, shrimp, fried rice, broccoli, and carrots. Now the meat was delicious, but there was barely any meat at all. Their sauce also was very good, and I typically don’t like sauces. Now the carrots were awful, it was like they accidentally dumped a pound of sugar on 5 slices of carrots, I could only eat two. Also, the rice was the same situation but instead of sugar they must have dumped pounds of garlic onto the rice. I never waste food, but I just could not eat this. I also love garlic, but that was disgusting, I couldn’t even taste the rice, it was just pure garlic. Neither of us were satisfied or could finish our meal. We definitely will NOT be returning. $30 for 6 pieces of small meat, no thanks.

Wing Cookout – Menu with Prices – 303 W 70th St, Shreveport

This place has quickly become my go to for wings and fried rice. They have many combos. The chicken is served bone in and you can order a number of different popular flavors and combinations. The rice is a traditional Chinese fried rice but you can order extras like chicken, shrimp and egg. They also make hamburger combos. This is a take-out/takeaway establishment but since it is located in what was once a sonic restaurant, one can eat in a parked car. The staff are pleasant and are willing to answer any questions you have about the menu items and make menu suggestions. Service is great overall and the location is generally safe. If you found this review helpful, please like it.

Food Gallery – Menu with Prices – 3702 River Dr #1104, Columbia

I’m trying to understand why the good reviews on Google but I guess to each his own. I had been told about this place by my nail tech and happened to be in the area for lunch. I ordered the meatloaf dinner with yams, Mac & potato salad. It’s very hard to describe the taste of the meatloaf but it wasn’t edible and it was not thoroughly cooked. It was almost like hamburger mush and the hamburger did not taste like real ground beef whatsoever. I spit that back out and moved on to the Mac. I could tell by looking it wasn’t going to be good but gave it a shot anyways. The cheese was like rubber. The taste of something not like real cheese and overly processed. That’s gets spat back out too. The potato salad was edible enough but the consistency is like soup and there were huge slices of egg on it but again more edible than the other two things I had already tried and I was able to finish it all. I moved on to the yams and hose were good. No excess sugary syrup so that’s a plus. Lastly the muffin/cornbread was good and semi-sweet and tasty but clearly over cooked as it was sticking to the muffin wrapper and slightly burnt where it did stick. I should’ve gone with my initial gut which was to just order a veggie plate. I am extremely glad I didn’t get the chicken as there was at least 10lbs of it sitting under a heat lamp. There is no substitute for fresh fried chicken and I’m sure people wouldn’t mind waiting for it or placing a call in order to make sure it’s fresh. I probably would visit again for some different veggies but not go out of way to this side of town for anything on the menu. I’m really starting to think South Carolina doesn’t know soul food.
