This taqueria is the best place in Texas. I used to live down the street and would visit at least once a week. Occasionally they would be off their game a bit, but even then i would give 4 stars. Best trompo tacos I’ve ever had. Currently live in Phoenix and haven’t found anything that holds a candle to them. Please check this place out. Best street tacos I’ve ever had. Even my mom, who is super critical, loved their tacos. Can’t wait to get back to D/FW to have them again.

diptyque Paris – Menu with Prices – 8687 North Central Expwy, R1-1459, Dallas

Um. $65 for a candle? + Tax? And you also charge $22 for a candle lid? *throws money* Why am I so obsessed with good smelling things? Why is Diptyque so expensive? Why did one of my bffs tell me about this bougie candle store? Wasn’t it enough that I dropped $$ on Voluspa candles?! :'( (lol) Anyway, I finally splurged after tiptoeing into this store several times in different cities. The gentleman that helped me out was super sweet and great about asking what kind of scents I preferred and recommending xyz candles. If you enjoy berry/citrus/clean scents (and aren’t really a fan of uber florals), try these: + Baies (my fav of the 3) + Oyedo + Mentheverte TIP: If you get one of these for the first time, let it burn for a good long while on the first burn. You want the entire top to be a melty pool of wax, otherwise the candle will begin to tunnel (the sides won’t melt in future burns). Then they had the audacity to offer free samples with a candle purchase. ? I had the options to choose between Do Son and L’ombre dans l’eau. Supposedly DS is a crowd fav, but it figures that the latter is essentially a copycat of baies. Def will come back. But maybe after I’ve saved for a few months… (haha jk jk it’s not THAT bad lol). Yay for pretty smells. /end bougie review.

Mama Olga’s Tamales and Fine Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 905 W Hatcher Rd, Phoenix

These are the best tamales I’ve found in Phoenix and I’m VERY picky. The Masa is excellent, moist and taste amazing! They’re filled with plenty of meat, she doesn’t skimp on the fillings! Her corn ð??½ tamales are just amazing as well, sweet tasting but not overly sweet. DELIVERY anywhere you live in Phoenix and surrounding areas!!! If you call or text she will deliver. Now it may take awhile for delivery but it is well with the wait!!!! The tamales are perfection, comfort food at it’s best! I highly recommend Mama Olgas! Buy a few dozen at a time, they stay well if you freeze them at home. Easy for quick lunch, breakfast or dinner.

Tacos Jerez – Menu with Prices – 17681 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach

$1.16 TACOS – need I say more?? It was Taco Tuesday, and not gonna lie, we had heard hole mole had good taco deals down the street, but it was soo crowded! My husband and I appreciate chains, but are more of hole-in-the-wall foodies most of the time. Tacos Jerez knocks Mexican street tacos out of the park – loads of meat, cilantro and onions for days. Their sopas ($3.00) was really good too. I want to go back and try their specials because if they are as good as their tacos are, then we will certainly become regulars. The wait was a little long, probably because we ordered a butt load of tacos, but other than that we know where to go now for Taco Tuesday!

Taqueria El Poblano – Menu with Prices – 652 Broadway, Chula Vista

Yahoo! Sí, the street tacos here are very good! Muy Bueno y Ricos. For the time being, this Taqueria Food Truck is only opened during evening hours. 6 pm till 2 am daily respectfully. I arrived opening on a Friday evening and ordered two al pastor & two beef birria double wrapped street tacos at $2.20 a piece. The beef birria tacos were great, but one has to be careful because the salsa they put on the meat packed some heat. The beef birria was very tasty and even had a very nice aromatic appeal. I loved that it was juicy and tender, and they double wrapped the tacos. The al pastor tacos were delicious. The pork meat was well marinated and they cooked it very well. I liked that it was a mix of crispy pieces and tender pieces of pork. This taco came with chopped cilantro, white onions, and creamy guacamole that’s traditional with these particular street tacos in Mexico. Great stuff indeed. There’s no seafood at this truck, just carne asada, chicken, beef birria, and pork, not that there’s anything wrong with that. There’s a tent with table available. They have salsa available at the tables, and radishes, limes, and cucumbers at the truck. Service was friendly and Claudia was super helpful. I like that they bring the food to you at the tables.

The Iron Daisy – Menu with Prices – 507 W Gaines St, Tallahassee

My daughter and I came here for dinner tonight. The server greeted us and told us we could take menus and sit wherever we wanted but we would need to come up to the bar to order. We found a table for two and talked while looking at the menu. We were interrupted by two flies that loved that table for some reason so we let them have it! We decided to eat at the bar. I ordered a hibiscus tea and the trio of Gaines street tacos- all with beyond beef (vegetarian beef option as I’m not a huge fan of jackfruit). My daughter ordered chicken quesadillas and we also wanted to check out the chips & salsa. The food came out fast! The tea was good- very mildly sweet. I liked the red and green tacos but I was not into the orange taco. The chips were greasy and unsalted, but the salsa tasted good although it was a bit too thin- rolled right off the chips. She loved the chicken quesadillas, but the beans were flavorless. So we were kinda disappointed with the food, but the server was super sweet and the decor is cool.

Surf up Mexican grill – Menu with Prices – 200 Main St suite 114, Huntington Beach

I went with my family down to Huntington Beach on Main Street to spend Sunday. We are hungry and looking for a good Mexican place. All the places had a long wait. I had my two kids with me and they were getting tired so we weren’t able to wait a long time for a dine in restaurant. We kept walking down the street and we saw this beautiful brand New Mexican grill. We went in to check out their menu. They had a variety selections from tacos, burritos, bowls and kids meals. It was just what we needed. We decided to try their burritos and it tasted so Delicious. My husband had their tacos it was so good. The kids had the best chicken fingers ever. Everything is made fresh in front of you. Their customer service is great. Their staff is very friendly. I do recommend this place because you get a great food and no long wait like the other restaurants around. their food is made with passion and love. I will definitely be back soon since we go often to Huntington beach

Tacos Chiwas Chandler – Menu with Prices – 2160 N Alma School Rd, Chandler

I came here for the first time with my daughter to get some takeout food. Plus this is my first experience with Tacos Chiwas a small place that sits along Alma School Road, north of Warner Road. I let my daughter take over the ordering, since I am new to this place, and have never been to the one in Phoenix. On this review I am going to focus on their Gordita only. This is because in two days in a row I was reminded of my mom’s cooking as a kid growing up in the 50’s in Phoenix. There is something to say about culture food. It doesn’t matter what culture food you are eating. That little something that you eat brings back memories of a time gone by. Let me explain about the Gordita here at Tacos Chiwas. First of all my daughter did the ordering, and I didn’t know what I had ordered until we arrived back at her house to partake in eating. When I opened up my Gordita first of all I just sat there for a moment before I took a picture of it. When staring at my food I was reminded of my mom once more. There was a manner in which my mom would take it upon herself and just plainly cook with what I call pure love. I remember her making what she called the gordita tortilla like round, kind of thick and maybe 4 inches in diameter little flour tortilla. She would cut through in the center, so that you could stuff it with whatever she had made for us to eat for our dinner. Ahh, the memory of those moments of mom’s cooking. This is what the Tacos Chiwas Gordita did to me. It may be something some of you will not really understand but, that’s okay. The thing is I still can only give Tacos Chiwas 4 stars, and only because of the Gordita By the way, my taco was good but, it really is difficult to find a place where everything is exceptionally good. This is my story and partly review of my take on Tacos Chiwas.

Campestre Mexican Bar and Grill – Menu with Prices – 910 Beaumont Centre Pkwy, Lexington

This restaurant has some of the nicest and accommodating staff I’ve ever met. I’ve been meaning to come here for quite a while and check out there street tacos among other things. When you first arrive as typical they will greet you and direct you to a table or a booth. Complimentary chips and salsa are also provided. They give you a creamy type of dip that is slightly sweet and really tastes great. The salsa is quite delicious and their chips are freshly made not too hard not to crunchy. My wife ordered a tamale and a lunch combo that she really enjoyed. I order street tacos and a chile relleno. Play close attention to the menu as these three tacos do come with both fresh and sauteed onions. While I absolutely love cilantro and fresh onions on my tacos I can’t say the same for sauteed onions. They have a taco sauce that they provide which is really complimentary to the tacos. Slightly spicy and a tad bit smokey. I am always one to add fresh sliced avocado to my tacos, which they obliged. My tacos came with the sauteed onions which I didn’t complain about but I did pick them out. When I saw that I picked out the onions and set one of them aside. When the staff came to check on us, our server noticed that I hadn’t eaten two the tacos and the onions I picked out. He happily offered to have two tacos made without onions. If I thanked him for his consideration and observation. These tacos were amazing to say the least! We will definitely be back to experience more of Campestre’s cuisine and get to know their amazing staff. Five Stars you guys knocked it out the park and won us over!

Tacos Culichi – Menu with Prices – 3004 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix

Even in a town like Phoenix where the standards for taco greatness are sky high, it seems there’s an endless supply of humble taquerias ready to answer the call (and often do). Whenever I’m asked to guide friends, family or acquaintances to the best taquerias, my answer is always the same. The Latino neighborhoods. There you’ll find taquerias and taco trucks who are serving their creations first and foremost to their own family, friends, and neighbors. And perhaps that’s why so many taquerias in these neighborhoods try just a little bit harder to make a great product. Tacos Culichi lies in a predominantly Latino neighborhood in east Phoenix, which had me pretty confident going into my first visit here (well, that and the 5 star Yelp reviews). The Phoenix New Times also included Culichi in their Best of 2019 list. Yup, time for a visit. And I did, on a Tuesday for an early dinner. Look for Tacos Culichi’s nondescript building on the north side of McDowell Road and 30th Street. Park in the back, enter in front. Walking inside from the unremarkable exterior, I was very pleasantly surprised with how clean and nicely outfitted this restaurant is. Seating for maybe 40 inside with beautiful wood accents and tables. Co-owners Derek Le and Adam Pulido run this operation with a tilt towards Sinaloan accented Mexican food (rather than the Sonoran brand we’re more accustomed to in this town). Tacos are the king of the menu here (obviously), but I was also interested in trying out an item the Phoenix New Times said I had to give a go. Order at the register and stare down their menu to make your picks. There are four street tacos on the menu. Carne Asada (beef), Al Pastor (pork), Birria (short rib), and Cabeza (meat from the cow’s head). I of course opted for one of all four. Additionally, I opted for a Ceviche Tostada, which the Phoenix New Times proclaimed the best ceviche in Phoenix. And of course a horchata to wash down all that goodness. Total cost for everything include tax came to $23. Food came out only a couple of minutes after I grabbed a seat. First, the tacos. Fantastic. The Al Pastor was the champion of the bunch (as it often is for me), but all four were incredibly juicy and delicious. I can’t remember the last time I had a cabeza taco, but even this was excellent. The corn tortillas were perfectly warm and soft, and held up well bite after bite. Next up, the tostada. Technically it was two tostadas, actually. The top tostada was piled high with spicy shrimp and veggies, topped with avocado, mixed with lemon and lime juices, and just a hint of mayo. Basically you just use the bottom tostada to catch whatever falls off the first tostada (okay, maybe that’s not necessarily how it works, but that’s how it worked for me). The ceviche was super juicy with generous amounts of shrimp mixed in. The avocado helped to mellow the acidic element from the citrus, though I will admit that the spice level was stronger than I anticipated. Not that it took away from the enjoyment from the ceviche at all. When they ask you up front if you want avocado on top of your ceviche, your answer should be an obvious yes, every time. Great dinner, great restaurant, great staff, great value. Absolutely worthy of its 5 star Yelp reputation. Honestly the only people that might come away disappointed with Culichi are those seeking Pollo (chicken). Sorry chicken lovers, no chicken served here. But if your taco love knows no bounds, Culichi has a menu full of options (from burritos, to vampiros, to mulas) sure to leave you coming away impressed and craving more. Hell I could crush an entire bucket of their Al Pastor. Don’t work Derek and Adam, I won’t (yet).

El bukanax mexfood Menu with Prices 1221 Desert Surf Cir NE, Albuquerque

I’m so glad there’s a day of week dedicated to, quite possibly, the world’s most ingenious food. There’s no Wing Wednesday, nor French Fry Friday, no, although many restauranteurs try to make Sunday Ceviche, or whatever, catch on, I think we can all agree that there’s simply no meal on the planet that should own a day of the week… besides tacos. Tacos shall always live in holy matrimony with Tuesdays, ’till death do they part, and ’till death I shall enjoy eating them, even if they do, occasionally, nearly kill me. Case in point: El Bukanax. Without going into horrific detail, just know that, while I absolutely love inhaling super spicy, burn-my-lips-off food, I am of the constitution that pays for such endeavors hours later. I bought four awesome tacos from El Bukanax, on a Tuesday, for five bucks, I slathered each one in their spicy red salsa, and went to town. Delightful meats, all of them: asada somewhat moist and salty nuggets of yum, pollo nicely moist, pastor very flavorful, but that barbacoa — whoa! Fabulous. Barbacoa usually deeply disappoints me, it’s too fatty, or even slimy, but not this stuff, it’s the real deal, get it. This food truck hurt me later that day, and into the next morning, and I’d deal with it all over again, next Tuesday.

Tacos Selene Menu with Prices 15343 E 6th Ave, Aurora

Looking for legit tacos in Aurora/East Denver area? Look no further! Tacos Selene not only has legit street tacos but it’s set at a great price. I was tipped off about Tacos Selene by a friend who has been in search of street-style tacos. She’s from LA so when she raved about this place, I knew I needed to try them out. I was finally able to try them out one afternoon and was a bit hesitant when I pulled up. As some reviewers noted, don’t judge a book by its cover! This was clearly a locals favorite spot as there was a line to order and the dining area was crowded on a late Saturday afternoon. I was able to try out three different meats: lengua, barbacoa and al pastor. My favorite was the barbacoa–lots of flavor and super tender. I enjoyed the other two tacos but not as much as the barbacoa. They provide two corn tortillas with each taco which was a bit too much for me but does help to keep them sturdy and not soggy. The other star of Tacos Selene is the salsa bar–lots of salsa to choose from as well as pickled vegetables and garnishes. I can understand if some people read this and think affordable or cheap = bad quality but that is not the case here. This place is definitely worth the drive out to the East side if you’re looking for delicious and affordable street style tacos!

Villa Del Rey Cocina Mexicana – Menu with Prices – 720 Schillinger Rd S, Mobile

Seriously the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to and I eat out to Mexican restaurants weekly. My sister tried this place first and told me how great it was so I planned my daughter’s party here on a short notice! I called about 30 minutes before we got there and asked them to reserve a table for a party. We had no wait time and made it there in timeIt was amazing our waiter was on point! Never had to wait on a refill kept our glasses filled and checked on us. Food was brought out quickly and correct. The food was great! My husband had a few margaritas and they were good and at a great price when we went. even for a party of 12 he did an amazing job and me and my sister left a large tip! Made my daughter feel so special for her birthday they genuinely was excited for her being her birthday and talked with her making her feel like the only girl in the room and she ate it up. She is a sassy 8 year old now. I would recommend this place over any others that I’ve been to! Very nice and clean comfortable setting. They even have a special candle for the birthday girl that was like fireworks or something my daughter was thrilled to say the least everyone in the restaurant loved the candle they used for her! Thanks again for making my daughter’s day so special! We will be returning very soon!!
