I woke up at 5am this morning with my stomach bloated like a basketball and I immediately knew something was wrong. Taco flavored burbs gave way to taco vomit just as I entered bathroom. I did not leave the bathroom for the next hour. For the record I had not thrown up for over 10 years and am a pretty adventurous eater. I returned to bed but had to revisit the bathroom every 10 minutes or so. I’ll spare you any more gory details but suffice it to say that it is as sick I have ever been from a meal. Rewind to the night before around 9:00pm I was hungry and decided on tacos. I have a couple go to places but had remembered the positive reviews about Taqueria Diana. I found it it easily. It’s in the back of a convenience store / cash checking place. There’s a dining area that looked like a bomb went off. The tables had obviously not been wiped down in a while. The kitchen was worse. Various meats in random containers. Tortillas on the ground. Not a tight ship. I ordered anyway and it was average at best. The fallout of that mistake is above. Obviously I wont be back.

Taqueria Mi Guanajuato – Menu with Prices – 3909 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis

[Same as Sosa Foods profile and review] Hole in the wall taqueria counter in a convenience store. These are my favorite kind of finds. Apparently the location has changed hands a few times, with the current iteration a Mexican Taqueria. Meat choices are bountiful, and more varied than the familiar places on Lake Street: carne asada (steak), al pastor (marinated pork), carnitas (pulled pork), chorizo (sausage), lengua (beef tongue), chicken, Picadillo (seasoned beef), y Chili Negro. Additional meats available on the weekend are Cabeza (beef head meat), y Tripas (tripe). Also Menudo (tripe soup) on the weekends. I ordered tripas, cabeza, y lengua in three tacos. If you pay with card they give you a sticky note with the total and go to the checkout counter to pay. At $8.12 for three tacos it’s about right compared to the closest famous taqueria: Pineda Taco at 55 and Lake. However, I thought it was a little high for what the place is. Seriously their rent has got to be a fraction of the competition I will list below. In terms of speed of service for a taqueria they were slow. We’re used to Pineda Taco, El Riendo Taco (NE), El Taco Loco (Columbia Heights), Mercado Central (Lake St) y Maya (NE) where the tacos are immediate. They are slower than Taqueria La Hacienda (Lake St). As for food quality it was yummy. They are a little light on seasoning compared to the competition though. Overall it’s all legit and authentic. They do fill a void in Longfellow where this really is the only place. It would be a fun stop on your way to or from Minnehaha Park, and you don’t want to deal the craziness on Lake Street. Next time I’ll for sure try the Menudo. Minus one star for speed of service and price.

Taqueria Sanchez – Menu with Prices – 2609-2699 E 10th St, Sioux Falls

(thesis: eat tacos at Taqueria Sanchez.) (Point 1: Taqueria Sanchez has good tacos) First visit–knew tacos were a must because it’s a *taqueria*. Ordered Barbacoa, Steak, Chicken, Pork tacos, plus a horchata. Were the flavors worth the $5.50 total? Many times over. Excellent simplicity. Meat + Diced onions + Cilantro. Lime & pickled veggies on the side for extra zing. I, a respecter of deliciousness, utilized the lime and enjoyed the pickled veggies’ cool complimenting bites in between tacos–which were the stars of the show. I’m partial to the spicier red salsa, but you’ll want to try the salsa verde as well. It’s really not complicated at all. These tacos are good. (Point 2: you need tacos) Do you have problems in your life? We all do, so take no shame in that reality. Follow-up question: Are you currently holding and/or consuming a taco? You’ll be shocked at how related those two answers can be. (in no particular order) Air, Water, Tacos, Shelter, and Music are prerequisites for basic human needs. There’s no avoiding it: you need tacos. (Point 3: Taqueria Sanchez will sell you tacos) They only take cash, so visit an ATM if you’re typically a plastic-only customer. (Point 4: you will enjoy these tacos) Here’s how it’ll go down… It’s a taco truck, so you’ll endure the open Oklahoma environment, but rest assured it’ll be worth it. You’ll stand in front of a blue truck with several other people who are also waiting to bless their lives with these delicious tacos. You’ll order, wait a few minutes while they prepare fresh tacos for your pleasure. (supposedly you can call ahead, I’ve never tried this because I enjoy the ritual of ordering truckside) They’ll call your number, hand you a discrete container. Assuming you don’t eat them right then and there in the parking lot–which I’m seriously not judging at all–you’ll eat in your car or somewhere nearby. You’ll open the container, releasing a heavenly fragrance, and behold those perfect tacos. You’ll eat them. You will find them both delicious and life-fulfilling. (Conclusion: Taqueria Sanchez’s tacos are the solution for most problems in your life) Those problems in your life, they don’t exist while you’re consuming tacos. Most items on this menu are probably delicious, but (seeing as it’s a *taqueria*) I’ve only ever had the tacos. Again, I encourage anyone to eat the tacos at Taqueria Sanchez. tl/dr: Quality tacos. Eat them.

El Taco express #1 10th St – Menu with Prices – 4912 NW 10th St, Oklahoma City

You have to be pretty bold to park your taco truck just down the street from the iconic and outstanding Taqueria Sanchez. I’ve driven past several times, but decided today that it was time to stop by. I’m so glad I did. El Taco Express offers the standard taqueria truck fare: street tacos, burritos, tortas, etc. Most tacos are $0.99, with lengua and tripa tacking on another $0.50. They have some soft drinks, water and several varieties of Jarritos. I didn’t see any mention of horchata or aqua frescos. Per my typical first visit, I ordered carnitas, barbacoa and lengua tacos. All of the meats were tender and juicy. The carnitas had a good flavor, as did the barbacoa. I added a little green sauce to the pork, and red sauce to the beef tacos. Both were better than most, and within reach of the best. And while I’m thinking of it, the pickled carrot was nicely flavored. I don’t know what you do to make one pickled carrot better than others, but they need to keep doing what they’re doing. What really stood out was the lengua. It was perfect, and as much as I love the lengua at Taqueria Sanchez and Taqueria El Dolar, this edges them both. The texture and taste is amazing, and is well worth the extra change. So please give this place a try. I can’t imagine you would leave disappointed.

Taqueria El Nuevo Perico #2 – Menu with Prices – 3702 E Chapman Ave, Orange

This taqueria is definitely delicious and authentic. The Carne Asada taco was very juicy and well seasoned and they use flour tortillas. The street tacos come with cilantro and onion on top with a side of grilled onion and radishes. I also bought the taco combo with carne asada (picture) which comes with rice, beans, and the onions. The Al Pastor taco (in the picture) was really tasty and juicy. The best part of this restaurant is that none of the meats were dry, but they’re a bit overpriced. However, the tacos are a bit larger than small corn tortilla tacos. There are definitely tastier tacos for cheaper if you’re willing to drive further out of Orange, but for a local, fast service taco, this is an excellent choice. There is also a lot of seating here and the place is large and clean, including a restroom.

Taco Bamba Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 10629 Braddock Rd, Fairfax

Finally a decent taco place that wont have me going back to taco bell for my fix of tacos! Walking in, first thing to note is the blaring metal music. Not really a conversation friendly environment, but maybe that was the vibe they were going for? Tacos. I’m here to talk about the tacos. Had the taco bamba and chicharron and both of them had soft texture tortillas with healthy servings of meat inside each taco. The tacos were not salty at all, and they provide sauces on the side to spice up the experience depending on how daring you are! (You can ask for their hottest sauce) Bonus points for me were that no juices leaked out of the taco while I was eating it, which I dont know if it was intentional or not. Overall the tacos were good, but nothing amazing. Definitely could be a common taco stop for me due to convenience. ON A SIDE NOTE: My friend ordered their churros, and as soon as she took the first bite her face warped… Apparently she said it was WAY too sweet, so be careful if you are not fond of sweets!

Taqueria El Lugar – Menu with Prices – E 5th St, Tyler

Very surprising that people are actually giving this place over a 1 star rating. I came here visiting from California and this place looked very similar to a taqueria down in Cali so i thought id try it out. The atmosphere very basic nothing to crazy going on. The most disappointing thing was there menu with only 3 options of meat (very depressing considering its labeled a “taqueria” like where is the pork, tongue, chorizo etc.) anyways there is not much to choose from at all. I decided to go with the #7 because thats literally the only appealing item on the menu, and my other friends ordered there single tacos. Anyways the lady who took our order was being very impatient and gave an attitude when we asked about the menu so that turned me off alot. Waited about 4-5 minutes for our food to come out. When our plates came the #7 looked more like a really small burrito which I ended up finishing in 4 bites. The meat was fairly dry and im positive they leave the meat out because when we first walked in i noticed there was just a huge pile of meat stacked on the grill looking fairly discolored and just dry. The tacos my friends got were equally disappointing barely any meat with a dry tortilla. Overall will i ever cone back to this place ? Never again you’re better off making tacos at home (:!

Bomb Azz Tacos – Menu with Prices – 2300 E 7th St, Long Beach

First things first …..if you’re driving along 7th street looking for this place at night and accidentally drive right by it…. you’re not the only one lmao. Once you find a parking spot somewhere in front of the liquor store and make your way to the taco truck you’ll notice a couple tables and chairs out side for people to eat after you get your meal. I ordered their well known “Bomb Azz street taco” with Carne Asada for two and two Al Pastor ones after seeing the Al Pastor being freshly cooked on a spit with a half cut pineapple on top. Waited for about 7 minutes before my order came out. The tacos came out fresh on a corn tortilla with some melted cheese and some guacamole on them as well. The next step was to sauce them up at the small little sauce bar they had to the left of the truck. They had the usual green chili verde sauce and the infamous red sauce. I stuck to the green sauce. Upon first bite you get a little bit of everything in one bite. Not to mention these tacos are a little big, similar to the authentic tacos you’d find in Mexico. The tacos had a lot of flavor and definitely hits the spot after a long day at work. Washed it all down with some horchata and called it a night. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend trying this spot out and let me know what you think.

Carlos Que Pasa – Menu with Prices – 3137 Central Ave, Toledo

Update: As of a few days ago, the topping bar has changed…for the worse. The choices of taco toppings have decreased, the the allowable amounts per taco have also decreased. Still, Carlos has a great product, and is still a good value, but not AS good as before. I’ve noticed that people don’t care/notice as much if prices increase so long as the product remains the same. But we do care/notice when the product takes a turn for the worse, no matter how slight. And now, back to the ORIGINAL REVIEW… Que pasa? Another great Carlos restaurant, that’s what. These tacos may not be the most authentic in town (you need to hit up Taqueria La Autentica Michoacana in the Old South End for those) but these tacos are delicious, and unlike other places that charge 3 bucks for a taco, CQP actually gives you enough meat! Walk in the door and at the kiosk, you place your order and pay (cards only…but you can order and pay with cash at the main counter). For example, if you’re getting tacos, you choose your meat and tortilla type (corn vs flour vs none). What kind of meat should you try? I’d suggest the kind that comes from dead animals, but there IS some vegan shit, such as cactus and jackfruit, available too. I’ve had the barbacoa, the carne asada, and the chorizo. (To be fair, I’ve actually eaten the cactus at one of Carlos’s other places, and it was really good). After you place your order and pay at the ki, you head over to the main counter and wait for a few moments until the server brings your food. You then use the topping bar to dress up your taco as you see fit. The location of CQP is fantastic…it’s in Cricket West, on the front side, in the dead center of the Toledo metro area. I think this is primarily a “take out” joint, but like Calvino’s a few doors down, there’s a dining room upstairs. No booze, but there’s a decent selection of American and Mexican pop. If this place plays its cards right, it’s going to do very well.

Tacos El Compadre – Menu with Prices – 4343 Peralta Blvd, Fremont

Initially I brought lunch but forgot to bring a fork. So I was just gonna go buy food. It was a mission coming here.. First things first…. I did not know it was a good truck until I actuallly looked at the yelp pics and reviews . Just saw good reviews for Mexican and I’m there . Lol drove around and was like where the heck is it. Ended up at the newly built homes. Read the reviews some more and someone said it moved down the street and I’m like okay….. which direction… Then I saw a truck and was like oh yay I found it.. then I saw it say cash only……. and I didn’t have any cash. Then saw next to it a store with ATM . Lol okay cool. But then I realized it wasn’t the right truck… so I left to look for it again…. and then found it parked a block away at this small private car dealership. And remembered it was cash only here too.. damn it again! Left to the original truck to get money from the store . And once I pulled out cash and went back into my car …. I saw that I had a fork in my middle console area … and I just stared at the stupid fork in disbelief.. “WHY DIDNT U MAKE YOURSELF NOTICEABLE BEFORE I PULLED OUT MONEY AND PAID THE $3 ATM FEE!?!? Whatever ! Too much time spent for this already ! gotta get tacos” Anyways ! That’s my little rant…. NOW ! For the I M P O R T A N T P A R T !! T A C O S !!! Al Pastor Tacos with Everything on it ! – man it was worth it !!! Came with a slice of pineapple , picked carrots, jalapeño, lime, little grilled baby onion. Omg . The tacos were so greasy and delicious ! So worth the trouble lol. Damn you universe .

Taqueria Isabel – Menu with Prices – 4950 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Richmond

Feeling a bit peckish and in the mood for some cheap Mexican food, I swung into the auto dealership parking lot where Taqueria Isabel is located on a whim. The unorthodox location only adds to the down-to-earth charm of Taqueria Isabel. At the counter a sweet older woman asked me what I’d like to order. With the full menu tacos painted on the side of the truck, it made selection easy. I ordered a pollo adobado and a carnitas taco. Five minutes and four dollars later my two tacos were freshly packed into an unfortunately not eco-friendly styrofoam container inside a plastic bag. I squeezed my limes and poured the green salsa over my two tacos and rapidly devoured them. I have seldom had such delicious tacos in RVA and never for this price!

taqueria alexander – Menu with Prices – 5211 15th St E, Bradenton

There is a new taco wagon in the Oneco Market’s parking lot and it is called Taqueria Alexander. I saw it a few weeks ago, and I even got a message from a Yelp friend asking if I had tried it yet. Tonight I did. There is a lot of hand printed signs in the windows, but there is also two tables under neath a new awning, which was a nice thing to see. I was thinking tacos, but then I saw they had tamales. For some reason tamales are driving a hidden hunger in me this summer. Doesn’t look like they have any carnitas but they were all happy to suggest the lengua to two gringos so you they aren’t shy. We ordered a couple of green tamales and what we thought were going to be carne asada tacos, but I screwed things up a bit and thought they were asking about the tamales. So we ended up with a lot of chicken tonight. Need to try the pastor and maybe their sopas and tortas. Another visit. We got our order to go because even though they have some nice table in the shade it is freaking florida in the summer and I was melting. The car smelled great on the way home. A good sign. When we found out about the order mistake when we opened up our food, but it looked so good and we were so hungry, we really didn’t care. The tamales were all I hoped for. These ones were wrapped in corn husks rather than the banana leaves I’ve been finding around the area. I like both so no worries. The chicken in side was tender and had just the right amount of green salsa inside. The masa was tender and had a great flavor. So big win there. The tacos were great as well. A nice spice to the chicken, shredded and tender. Cilantro and onions were perfect. The tortillas were very interesting. Thicker than most taco wagos, tender and a great flavor. Home made? Not sure but I want to know. Certainly not out of a grocery store. And even better than some of the tortillaria’s in the area typically make. A winner, just have to go back and try some of their other ones! I was taking a few photos of the wagon before we left. The owner jumped out and showed off all the different paintings on the side with pride. In my bad Spanish and his broken English we chatted a bit and I wished him success. I know I’ll be back. I just hope they don’t disappear like the last three taco wagons at this location. Go give them a try!

Taqueria Nuevo Leon – Menu with Prices – 102 E Buckingham Rd, Garland

Wow hidden gem. I’m not one that normally checks out food places inside gasoline stops, however one this day I wanted tacos and was bored of the same old ones I go to near me. Found this place on Yelp. I ordered some breakfast tacos. While I waited I looked around in the gasoline shop, it had some slit machine looking things in there. I thought was kinda cool. I also got some coffee. My order was ready and I eat in the car cuz I was not driving and I was hungry. The potato and egg tacos were so stinking delicious. I wanted more. I think there was some oil on the bottom of the to go box and I dipping some of my taco in it , it was that good. I will definitely be returning here often.
