I stopped in hear on Saturday night after reading the 23 reviews that have been posted in the past 2 months. This is a new Japanese Fusion restaurant that has been open a few months. It’s more of a family place with booths as the majority of the seating. There is a larger table and spots at the sushi bar to sit. They do not have a liquor license yet so for now it’s BYOB. No complaints here. I was not expecting much it terms of ambience and I was pleasantly surprised with the service and the food. I would agree that the sushi is the best I’ve had in Bayridge and it stands up to some high end restaurants in Manhattan. I would say this is the best overall experience I’ve had in Bayridge besides Tanoreen in 76 st and 3 ave. Everyone showed that they cared about their customers and were extremely polite. The manager was our waiter and the other person waiting tables was very accommodating. They worked together as a team, filling the water glasses, cleaning the tables and floor as needed and showed caring. The service was top notch and is something that is lacking in other restaurants, especially those in Sheepshead Bay. The food was great!! Everything was super fresh! The menu is extensive. Started with the Shumi and Avocado salad. All the rolls had 8 generous pieces.Shared the Lobster King Roll, the Isa Fantastic Roll and the Chicken Soba which was with thin noodles and great flavor. For desert had the Red Bean ice cream and Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse. They have a 15% Grand Opening Special when you dine in which does not hurt. They also gave me a $5 off coupon that does not expire on future visits. I would highly recommend Tairyo for anyone who wants to experience some of the best food and service. I will definitely go back again.

Mikado sushi & grill – Menu with Prices – 920 American Rd, Lansing

We tried Mikado sushi before going to see Hamilton and thought it was about average. I would have rated 3.5, and since Yelp requires whole numbers, I am in the habit of rounding down. When we arrived, we noticed the building looked like it was previously a fast food restaurant as it had one way in, one way out, and a drive through window. When we got inside, it looked like they might have kept the original seating, but added some decor to spruce it up and remodeled the counter where you would normally order into a sushi bar area. We felt the menu was pretty traditional, and while some of the sushi roll names might have been unique, the contents were similar to what we have seen in other sushi restaurants. I was looking for something unique and different, so I ordered the green monster roll as this was only the second time I’ve seen a roll like that, and thought it was good but it didn’t blow me away. All of the other rolls we ordered were LOADED with sauce. I think a nice sauce drizzle is good on specialty rolls, but they added a little too much for my liking here. I did like that they use paper straws here, and thought the salad was pretty good despite the fact that soup and/or salad do not come with your sushi rolls. (Paying for soup/salad at a sushi restaurant is a pet peeve of mine. When some places offer one or both with a single sushi roll, and you buy six pricey specialty rolls, the least they can do is give you a complimentary soup or salad with it.) We thought the prices were comparable to other sushi restaurants in town, and we didn’t NOT like it, but we still have other favorite spots in the Greater Lansing area.

Wasabi Factory – Menu with Prices – 7415 Hardeson Rd #A, Everett

I used to frequent Wasabi factory when I was living at home a few years ago. Now I wanted to go back and try it again as it’s been a while. I remembered liking their Lion King and Volcano roll and I was craving sushi that was flame seared. I went to the place on a Friday night. It wasn’t full or packed, probably a few people at the bar and another party of 2. Their menu changed a little bit but I was craving a volcano roll and a bento box. I think they are known for their boxes as they are relatively cheap compared to other Japanese restaurants and comes with a lot of food. They have a deluxe and a regular bento box, depending on how much sushi you want and if you want a side of gyoza. I ordered the regular bento box with spicy tuna roll (comes with 8 rolls) and chicken katsu. They have other options you can order with it such as teriyaki, pork katsu, sushi, tempura; etc. On top of picking two things, you get miso soup, salad, and 4 pieces of California roll. I also got a volcano roll to share, which is a California roll seared with spicy tuna on the top. From what I could remember a few years ago, the roll was similar. I enjoyed eating the sushi as it leaves a little bit of a burnt taste. I recommend this along with Lion King if you want seared salmon, and the katana roll which is a shrimp tempura roll wrapped with tempura. The karagee was also ordered to share – it wasn’t super great as it wasn’t as crispy. Staff was friendly and food overall was great. Bento box was great for its value and I left full and content. Will be returning next time I’m in town.

Ichiban Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – # 1054, 3019, 3701 McKinley Pkwy, Buffalo

Whenever I am in Hamburg and want sushi I go to Fuji San, that’s been an easy go to spot. So this past time I decided to give another place a shot. I looked up sushi restaurants in the area and Ichiban came up. It had great reviews so I called in and place my order. I got a tuna avocado roll, salmon cucumber roll, yellowtail scallion roll and spicy tuna roll all with brown rice. I also ordered shrimp tempura, a small green salad and miso soup. I think the total came to $40, which was a fair price. I used my GPS to get to the restaurant and was surprised when I saw the outside, it was in a small strip mall and didn’t look that appealing from the outside. Parked, went inside and was surprised again because the inside was really nice, the outside was very deceiving and the restaurant was much larger once stepping inside. The food was just about ready when we got there. The rolls were awesome, they were enormous! Sushi really doesn’t fill me up, my boyfriend and I always joke that whenever we go out for sushi we leave and want to go for another dinner. These rolls definitely filled me up. I was impressed. They only serve low sodium soy, which is great, not sure if they offered gluten free soy or not, I didn’t ask. The miso soup was delicious and the ginger salad dressing was awesome. Overall my first take out experience here was really good and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again the next time I am in town and the mood strikes for sushi!

Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse – Lexington – Menu with Prices – 101 W Vine St, Lexington

Our friend made reservations at Jeff Ruby’s after not having luck at a few other places due to a busy Keeneland weekend. Upon entering, I was super amazed at the bar, with the piano player on top. Super cool ambience and right behind me, Chihuly jellyfish lights over yummy King Crab legs. We were promptly seated into our dining room, which had an impressive Louis XV marble fireplace on which two beautiful dog statues sat. As a group of 6, we decided to start with sushi. Honestly, the whole sushi menu looks amazing, and upon retrospect, perhaps I should have just had sushi for my entire meal. We quickly selected the Palumbo Press and the UK Roll. I HIGHLY recommend both rolls. The Palumbo Press featured a fried rice cake base, something I have only seen a couple other times at sushi restaurants. Its like a little hash brown made out of rice. On top, the mixture of the pineapple and tuna poke was brilliant. I could have happily eaten the whole roll by myself, but sharing with 6 others was perfect as there were only 6 pieces (please keep in mind if you’re a group of 4 and you think there will be 8 pieces of sushi like most other places in the world – both rolls we ordered had 6 pieces only). The UK Roll was extremely fresh and I think would be a perfect entrée for someone siting on the patio in the summer alongside a glass of bubbles. Delicious. The cucumber wrap was a bit hard to maneuver on some of the pieces, but well worth trying. Use a fork if you’ve got to. For salad, hubby and I split a Caesar and there was plenty to go around. I thought the sauce way too tangy; I didn’t finish mine since I knew other food was coming. Our friends were happy with their Freddie salad so maybe try that… For main course, I decided to take advantage of the 4 oz King Crab leg special. My hubby cooks amazing steak and I had just had an awesome steak at Dudley’s on Short the night before (not realizing we were going to a steak house the next night). I love King Crab more than any other food so when its on offer, I get it. 4 oz were $25 so I ordered 8 oz, as $50 seems comparable to every other steak. For sides, we ordered the brussel sprouts, French fries, mac and cheese, and mushrooms. I adored the brussel sprouts, although they are extremely flavorful and would be better (in my opinion) alongside a pork tenderloin and sweet potato than mac and cheese and steak. But they are really great! I thought the French fries were fine but others in my group LOVED them. I thought the mac and cheese was great but others in our group thought it was just okay (its really cheesy y’all – like thick, goopy cheesy so if that ain’t your thing, don’t get it). As always, I love mushrooms and their blend was terrific. Three members of our group got the steak & lobster thermidor. One of the lobsters had no meat in it compared to the other 2 at our table. It was whisked away and replaced with a new lobster that I didn’t even notice it had happened. That’s great customer service y’all. The barrel cut filet is absolutely incredible. Fork tender with a delicious crust on the meat from the broiler. Highly recommend. And when I opened my second King Crab Leg, I saw blue. Like, a crap ton of blue all along the sides of the leg. I have never ever seen anything like it, but it looked like my King Crab leg had molded on the inside. I think the look of horror on my face must have been readily apparent across the dining room, as the manager swiftly walked up and asked what was wrong. I showed her the King Crab and she was like, “I’ve never seen that but I don’t want you to eat that – let me talk to the chef.” She returned with a brand new freshly steamed piece of King Crab, double the size of the one she took away. She explained that the chef told her the blue was from bruising within the crab, most likely from being bit by a shark. I have zero clue if this is true or not, but I appreciated her swift

Umi Kitchen and Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 1309 W Summit Pkwy, Spokane

Showed up during the dinner rush with a reservation and we were instantly shown to the only empty table in the restaurant, no waiting as has been the case with other places I have made reservations. As others have said the service was a little slow at first, and the amount of noise along with the close proximity of tables made a soft spoken conversation between me and my party all but impossible. Once our order was taken the service was great and consistent, and our first rolls of sushi showed up within 5 minutes of ordering. The fish was fantastic, each roll I tried had a unique flair and their sashimi and nigiri “chefs choice” combo was an awesome selection of fish, not just all the cheap cuts as I have seen at other restaurants. My only real complaint is that it wasn’t entirely clear looking at the menu what was and wasn’t spicy, and I accidentally ordered a roll that was much too hot for me. If you have a medical condition that requires you not eat anything spicy make sure you ask before you order!

Temari Fine Japanese Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 919 N Val Vista Dr, Gilbert

I didn’t feel it was bad, but it didn’t meet my expectations. I’ll feel this out as I write. First impressions: very crowded, small feeling place. For seating, there are maybe 7? tables that are almost touching one another that have 4 seats each, although I felt very self conscious for my party of two. The tables are a few feet in front of a bar, and that’s the entire restaurant. It’s very small; this is not bad in itself, as some prefer this type of experience. However, it was not comfortable for me and each of the tables in the restaurant save two had people seated at them when I arrived. Cluttered and very full looking walls. Our server was very kind and attentive; she definitely knew what she doing. She gave us our menus and some water to start off with. The menu is several pages long to read – there’s a lot on there. However, it did not include everything on the sushi order we were provided with, and not everything on the menu seemed to be on the sushi order form; either that, or the menu was very bloated and spread out, because the sushi order form was relatively small. We ordered the spicy tuna (regular) roll, lobster tempura roll, and tootsie roll. Now, I’m not sure what the real difference is between the spicy tuna regular and special – those aren’t listed on the menu, just the order form. They’re also up there on prices, $6 + some and $7.25. Our server told us that the special was crab and tuna blended while the regular was just tuna; that sounds like a lot of rolls to me. And that’s just what it tasted like: a regular roll. Our spicy tuna roll was very mundane and was pretty much a spicy tuna roll. Some have suggested that it was “spicy” in a unique way; I’m not sure where these people get sushi at normally, but it was spicy just like I’m accustomed to, which is pleasantly warm and balanced to flavor (I enjoy spicy foods). It seemed to have a little bit more rice than I preferred, but it was almost not noticeable; overall, I didn’t feel it merited the cost as it was just a normal spicy tuna roll. The lobster tempera was also good, but slightly bland; it did come with a wonderful little dipping oil sauce. Surprising crunchy. Overall okay. The tootsie roll was very interesting. It was very ornate and had eel sauce drizzled on it; it was pretty good, but be aware that it does have a tiny hint of that “tootsie” flavor, which I wasn’t expecting (my wife ordered it). Overall good. The service was great while I personally did not enjoy the atmosphere; the food was pretty standard, with specialty rolls being a little extra special (as expected). Not a wasted experience, but not one I’ll likely repeat. However, food is very subjective and perhaps you will enjoy the warm bar and small feeling here while eating some regular sushi more than I. Hopefully the experience is what you feel you’re paying for and not the food.

Yellowfinn Grill & Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 1166 E 2100 S, Salt Lake City

I work in the service industry as a server and bartender so I understand how crazy working in a restaurant can be. I won?t be coming back to this establishment anytime soon. My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday night and after ordering our 4 rolls, we waited 35 minutes for the first roll. It was good sushi but other tables were being serviced before our two top. It took another 10 minutes for us to see the second roll. Maybe don?t come in on a Sunday night? The sushi chefs were more interested in telling their life stories to the patrons at the sushi bar rather than making the sushi rolls. The server also defined the term ?bare minimum? in my mind. Never told us what was going on or explained why the wait was so long. We came in at 5pm on a Sunday night. The sushi was delicious, but served one roll at a time and in 5+ minute intervals.

Sushi Gone Wild – Menu with Prices – 24004 Vista Montana, Torrance

[Review #392] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (42/100) I enjoyed a fantastic dinner with fellow Yelper, Eriko N., who is also connected to the owner, Mr. Kim. She said I had to meet this cool guy… our ritual girls night out was spent at Sushi Gone Wild. No, this isn’t “girls gone wild,” but it’s a family-friendly & easygoing establishment that makes you feel welcomed. Last night, we had 3 plates of sushi: MONSTER ROLL (in: shrimp, crab; out: spicy tuna, avocado, eel, teriyaki sauce, onion, smelt egg, sesame seed, sriracha), NINJA MAKI ROLL (5 kinds of fish & crab, mango; out: cucumber with ponzu sauce & Japanese dressing), & LOBSTER (CRAWFISH) ROLL (in: shrimp tempura roll, crab; out: baked crawfish, onion, smelt egg, teriyaki sauce, sesame seed, pepper mayo sauce). This isn’t your traditional omakase sushi restaurant with fish flown in from around-the-world’s oceans… Sushi Gone Wild serves up unique rolls that’s atypical of Urasawa, n/naka, or Nozawa Bar, they’re more mom & pop with a decent size menu of classic & specialty rolls. The Ninja Maki Roll was light & refreshing, & it reminded me of the Oishii Roll at ODS. The Monster Roll was a monster of a roll that’s just savory & spicy enough. I really liked how the pepper mayo binded the ingredients of the Crawfish Roll & the crispiness of the shrimp tempura… no, it’s not lobster; I think they should just rename the dish as Crawfish Roll. We finished the night with a ball of GREEN TEA TEMPURA ICE CREAM; I really like the taste of the batter, but it was slightly too thick. Halfway through dinner, we ran into a couple of friends & joined our tables. It was a fun night with great company, & Mr. Kim, the owner, bought a couple rounds of sake! I, Kim, even got a pic with Mr. Kim… LOLã?½(*â?¿*)ã?? I’m guessing he’s very popular & has a lot of regulars because a lot of customers were toasting him. =) If you’re looking for quality sushi rolls & a chill vibe, then look no further than Sushi Gone Wild & its friendly staff serving up delish food. For a small sushi joint, they were jam-packed all night long until closing so come early & grab a seat! Recommended: Lobster (Crawfish) Roll & Ninja Maki Roll.

Yellowtail Robata Grill & Sushi – Menu with Prices – 2509 Wilma Rudolph Blvd A, Clarksville

Sushi is my heroine and my drug of choice! Damn you my sushi addiction. You cost way too much, and I never get enough. I have been eyeing this sushi restaurant for months like a fat kid drooling over an ALL you can eat buffet. People say it is the best sushi place in Clarksville OR that it is overrated. That day my sushi addiction was definitely raging and I decided to get a superb fix. My friend suggested her favorite place Yellowtail and I secretly screamed with delight. The sushi rolls are plentiful and intriguing. I ordered the same rolls my friend ordered: Alaskan and Hot Mama. The Viagra roll was a good contender but I skipped it. Our server, Brendan Lee, was hilarious seriously in a Jesse Eisenberg/ Woody Allen/ Seinfeld-esque way. We laughed a LOT. He was great;even though, he was new. He got me my usual requests of lemon wedges and Sriracha sauce. When I asked for my drinks to be constantly refilled in the beginning with lots of ice, he was on the ball and got me a take out cup without prompting…nice. The sushi was yum and beautifully displayed. I wish the additional miso soup and salad came with it but no. I quenched my sushi fix with the lush and delicious portions. Next time Viagra and a Fire Sushi Roll. The bill was pricey BUT it was worth it. Yellowtail is one of my top three sushi places and a tie for first place with Kisoro.

Maizuru Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5623 Alton Pkwy, Irvine

We came here on a Sunday around 1pm and it was decently crowded, but we were able to get seated right away for a table of 5. The service was quick and decent, checking in once in a while to make sure everything was ok. We ordered the seafood salad (lunch portion), 1/2 order sushi rolls, and 2 item combination bento plate with spicy tuna roll and sesame chicken. Most full entrees come with miso soup, which nicely starts the meal as it’s light and yummy! The seafood salad was large for a lunch portion and we could barely finish it. The 1/2 order sushi rolls are perfect for splitting between people and not being stuck with one large roll and having differentiation for options! The 2 item continuation bento plate hit the spot. I think the sesame chicken is good with some teriyaki sauce if you ask for it on the side and the spicy tuna is solid as well. Recommend going to this place as it’s not as costly/expensive as other sushi/Japanese restaurants and you get a good experience as well!

Blue Sushi Sake Grill – Menu with Prices – 105 Summit At Fritz Farm Ste 130, Lexington

My boyfriend and I were seated and served quickly, we came in at 5 on a Thursday. We appreciated the atmosphere and felt welcome. As far as service goes we were greeted and helped by our server named Andrew. He explained the menu to us and was attentive, they were slow so we were checked on more than normal but I wait tables and understand that making sure your few tables are happy when you aren’t busy is considerate and it was appreciated. Let’s talk about their happy hour, I’ll be honest the happy hour is a great deal… most of their rolls are discounted and drinks are too, I had a margarita for less than $4. This was one of the main highlights for us. We absolutely loved the mango crab rangoons, it was our favorite part and probably the only thing we would order again. My boyfriend really enjoys Sapporo which is a Vietnamese beer that is served in many sushi restaurants, they of course carried the beer, but they served it out of a bottle with a cold glass, which would be great if a bottle of Sapporo is as good as it is out of a can (yes I know, normally beer is better out of a glass bottle) my only reason to highlight this is the fact that Blue has an entire wall displayed of Sapporo in a can but you can’t order it? Alright, Sushi time.. I’ll be blunt here, I’ve had better Sushi which is fine, but I’ve had better Sushi right down the road in Lexington. I ordered the Lion King Roll which was sort of meh, my boyfriend ordered a roll with soft shell crab (spider something roll, we can’t remember the name) so he was really happy to see that they carried one of his favorite types of shellfish BUT this roll was pretty disappointing for the price, a few pieces of his roll didn’t even have the soft shell crab in them. Overall our sushi was average at best. I rarely have pictures to post to my yelp reviews because I make it a point to not use my phone at the dinner table, but, if you’re looking for average sushi I’d go somewhere else.

Sushi-Rama Fitzsimons Aurora Menu with Prices 13650 E Colfax Ave, Aurora

Fun and quick sushi! Sushirama is a fun and colorful restaurant with a novelty conveyer belt that allows you to try pairs of different rolls at different price points. I’ve been to Sushirama a handful of times and overall it’s a neat hang-out spot for casual sushi. The basics: There are five different colors for plates which designate the price points of $1.50, $2, $2.50, $3, and $4. On each plate the nigiri or rolls come out with 2 pieces. The plates have chips on the bottom so that when they have been out on the conveyer belt for 90 minutes, they automatically get taken off. If a roll you would like is not out, you can just ask your server for the roll, and can also order the complete full roll if you would like as well. I recommend ordering off the menu, especially when its busier and there’s less of a selection on the belt. Sometimes waiting for that perfect roll to come by takes a little longer than expected. When you order off the menu, the rest of the pieces also go on the belt. Vegetarian and gluten-free rolls are also designated on the menu. If you’re not feeling like sushi, they also offer a couple of ramen options. I’m a huge fan of sushi with fruit, so I do tend to like the sweeter rolls over the more savory. My top favorite rolls are the pineapple express, lobster tempura mango, and spider. I have tried the ramen as well, but I honestly prefer the sushi. If you are in the mood for ramen, it’s probably best to check out Osaka Ramen which is owned by the same owner of Sushirama. Cool things: If you work across the street on the medical campus, you can get 15% off with your badge. Happy hour is Mon-Fri from 3-6pm and is 25% off all rolls. Happy Hour is a great time to go because those sushi plates can really stack up! They also have a robot that prepares the rice! (While this is cool, this does seem to contribute to looser rice in the rolls which can result in pieces falling apart). The Fitzsimons location also has its own special roll called the Fitzsimons. Sometimes they will have signs out for other special rolls or appetizers. If you’re looking for fun and casual sushi to enjoy with friends or just want to try a bunch of different rolls, this is the place for you.
