This friendly, very casual eatery serves inexpensive, authentic Mexican fare. We had tacos, which are on the small side, but at $1.50 each, who’s complaining? They’re soft tortilla tacos containing the meat of your choice, topped with perfectly diced onion and cilantro, and lime on the side. Regardless of your order, they bring bottles of hot green and red salsa to your table with the food. For affordable Mexican food, this place might be the best in Everett.

Taqueria Paracuaro – Menu with Prices – 726 N 13th St, San Jose

OMG…. These guys seriously have THE best tacos in town! I have never had tacos like this in the US, only in Mexico. They are super nice and fast and will have you eating some pretty delicious tacos in just 5 minutes. We tried the asada, cabeza, chorizo and pastor and they were all to die for! They serve them plain with just the meat and add a little bit of grilled onion to your plate, and you add the works. They have radish, onion, cilantro, grilled chiles and salsa. The salsa is super good but spicy, so don’t get all crazy! I didn’t try the red, just the green. They set up right in front of Checos restaurant every weekend, I believe he said from around 6pm until 12-1am. These tacos are legit!

Antojitos Mexicanos Celaya – Menu with Prices – 6075 Winchester Rd, Memphis

BEST CHICKEN TACOS EVER! Seriously tho, that seasoning. Family run and awesome, this food truck, located outside Hickory Ridge Mall, doesn’t look much different from other food trucks around Memphis. But it’s so much better. I often see the mom of this Mom and Pop place in Kroger buying groceries for the food truck. She’s the reason we came- she encouraged me to come try their food since our favorite place closed. Hubby and I consider ourselves authentic Mexican food connoisseurs so we had to try some stuff from here. We ordered two chicken tacos, one chorizo taco, and a chille relleno. We were incredibly impressed with both the quality of the meat and the tortillas for the tacos. The chicken was wonderful. I am not sure if she used rotisserie chicken or spiced it herself, but it wasn’t the usual plain, grilled chicken that you usually get in other places. Here thar be FLAVOR! Also it tastes even more amazing with guacamole- which you can request on any taco. In keeping with their already set precedent of awesomeness, their chorizo taco was a whole new wooooooorld. I usually don’t like chorizo and actually told hubby not to bother giving me a bite unless it was extraordinary. And of course, it was. It wasn’t greasy or gross, but rather well-spiced and flavorful. Hubby only permitted me one sample bite before gobbling it all down himself. We ate our delicacies at the fold-out tables right outside the place and used the accouterments on the table. There is a plastic box of limes and a plastic box of onion and cilantro diced up into little pieces as well as napkins and salsa verde and salsa rojo. As normal, the salsa rojo was the spicier of the two, but for once it was also the tastier. I used both salsas on my tacos to try both and loved it. The chille relleno was also unique. Usually you get a whole green bell pepper (or whatever type of pepper they use) halved with the filling stuffed into each side. It’s usually pretty messy to eat. However, this one was fried in batter so everything stayed neatly inside and was easy to eat. It came with Mexican rice and lettuce but I requested some salsa verde (my fav with everything), threw on some cilantro and onion mix, and grabbed a lime. I loved eating the chile relleno by itself but also enjoyed dipping it into the salsa verde. There was actually a man from Michigan in town visiting relatives who was eating there same time as us. He told us it’d been his second visit and he would definitely be back next time he was in town. We couldn’t agree more. Luckily we live much, much closer. To Try: Torta de pollo Loved: – Arroz (Mexican Rice) – Carnitas – Chile Relleno – Guacamole – Salsa Rojo – Salsa Verde – Taco de Pollo (chicken) – Taco de Chorizo Liked: – Enchiladas de Pollo – Panbazo de Picadillo – Ribs – Taco de Steak – Torta del Pastor Disliked: – Caldo de Pescado – Chicharron – Frijoles del Charro – Taco de Borrego (Sheep) – Taco del Pastor – Taco de Pollo con Mole

Mariscos Acapulco – Menu with Prices – 3301 Singleton Blvd, Dallas

Finally authentic Mexican food in Dallas, with corn tortilla soft tacos, served with cilantro, onions, and fresh lime. I had the El Pastor taco plate. The meat was very flavorful, tender, and had a little kick. The fajita meat tacos were perfect. Rice and beans were good. Loved the fresh chips and salsa. Don’t let the outside fool you, it is the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in Dallas.

Los Agavez Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 3166 N High St, Columbus

This is a taco truck in the parking lot of a convenience mart on Pacemont and High St. When I first turned on Pacemont, I didn’t see it at first and thought maybe it was no longer parked in that parking lot and I got sad (I LOVE my Mexican food trucks!) then I turned around and saw it, went in the parking lot, but then thought it was closed and again, sadness, but alas, it was open and all was well!! So onto the important news, the food!!!. Tacos – $2 each which is great. This was all I got because street tacos are my FAVORITE in life right now. I got…pollo, asada, lengua, al pastor, and a horchata to drink. I asked for mild sauce and I expected the green salsa that you get from some Mexican restaurants, but it was actually a green mixed sauce, that looked similar to the sauce you get at Arepazo. I believe it is cilantro based. Anywho, all were GREAT! The meat was really juicy and tender. The sauce added a nice flavor combined with the fresh squeezed lime that you just HAVE to put on street tacos. I look for street tacos pretty much anywhere I go, and I’m glad to add this one to the list for Clintonville. I also met Elvia who wanted to make sure I enjoyed my meal and was super nice ? Go there please!

Taqueria La Fogata – Menu with Prices – 4623 S 33rd St, Omaha

This place is next door to Donohue’s Pub on L street. I will give this place 3 stars because the service was fast and the food was cheap. The menu is simple: tacos, tortas, burritos, and quesadillas. Meat choices include: Carne Asada Al Pastor Lengua Chorizo Tripe Barbacoa They offer $1 tacos on Thursdays after 5 pm only. The interior is sort of dated and even a little dirty. There are quite a few tables throughout. I know, these can sometimes be the really good places, right? However, the food was only OK. I ordered carne asada and al pastor tacos. The tacos are built with two street taco-sized corn tortillas, meat, cilantro, onions. They come with lime and salsa (red or green). The green (avocado) salsa is actually spicier than the red, which is not common. Overall, stop in on Thursday after 5 pm if you are in the area or next door at the pub. Otherwise, I’d make the trip to Taqueria Tijuana for tacos.

Tortillería El Comal – Menu with Prices – 13184 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston

First time. Wanted barbacoa and tortillas. Barbacoa was very good, not greasy. Tortillas were very good, warm just made. Salsas, cilantro and onion came with order of barbacoa. Also picked up extra container of green and red salsa. All salsas were very good. The salsa that came with barbacoa was the spiciest ( spicy but tolerable). The green salsa purchased was creamier and had bits of cilantro. Also had carnitas, was pleasantly surprised, not greasy and not dry. Glad found this place!

La Poblanita Deli Menu with Prices 767 St John St, Allentown

Small, family owned business restaurant/ bodega type of setting. I have been in so many Mexican restaurants in Allentown and Bethlehem and this one stands out. I ordered Carnitas and chorizo tacos, and chicken flautas with a side lf Guacamole. The meat was well cooked, with a delicious taste while the tacos had the right amount of meat, fresh cilantro and onion also their green sauce was absolutely tatsty and medium hot. Their Flautas were fresh, crunchy but soft at the same time, full of chicken topped with fresh lettuce, onion, tomatoes, avocados and white sauce. Lastly their guacamole was also fresh and delicious, I truly felt like in heaven while eating there. Thanks so much! Best Mexican food In the Lehigh Valley Area!

El Pollo Palenque Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 1400 La Salle Ave, Waco

Now this is authentic Mexican food. I ordered chicharron tacos, but you can get tacos with just about anything in them. They are the small tacos like you would get in Mexico, so a plate consist of five small tacos. Don’t worry about their being small tacos, because a plate of five is quite filling. They were excellent by the way, and my order included all the extras: onions, jalapeños, lime slices, and cilantro. Just for fun, I ordered a real Mexican soda, and out came a bottle of Coca-Cola made in Mexico with real sugar. This is a great place. It is an outdoor venue, so come prepared to sit outside at one of the picnic tables or to take it home.

Taqueria Sanchez – Menu with Prices – 2609-2699 E 10th St, Sioux Falls

(thesis: eat tacos at Taqueria Sanchez.) (Point 1: Taqueria Sanchez has good tacos) First visit–knew tacos were a must because it’s a *taqueria*. Ordered Barbacoa, Steak, Chicken, Pork tacos, plus a horchata. Were the flavors worth the $5.50 total? Many times over. Excellent simplicity. Meat + Diced onions + Cilantro. Lime & pickled veggies on the side for extra zing. I, a respecter of deliciousness, utilized the lime and enjoyed the pickled veggies’ cool complimenting bites in between tacos–which were the stars of the show. I’m partial to the spicier red salsa, but you’ll want to try the salsa verde as well. It’s really not complicated at all. These tacos are good. (Point 2: you need tacos) Do you have problems in your life? We all do, so take no shame in that reality. Follow-up question: Are you currently holding and/or consuming a taco? You’ll be shocked at how related those two answers can be. (in no particular order) Air, Water, Tacos, Shelter, and Music are prerequisites for basic human needs. There’s no avoiding it: you need tacos. (Point 3: Taqueria Sanchez will sell you tacos) They only take cash, so visit an ATM if you’re typically a plastic-only customer. (Point 4: you will enjoy these tacos) Here’s how it’ll go down… It’s a taco truck, so you’ll endure the open Oklahoma environment, but rest assured it’ll be worth it. You’ll stand in front of a blue truck with several other people who are also waiting to bless their lives with these delicious tacos. You’ll order, wait a few minutes while they prepare fresh tacos for your pleasure. (supposedly you can call ahead, I’ve never tried this because I enjoy the ritual of ordering truckside) They’ll call your number, hand you a discrete container. Assuming you don’t eat them right then and there in the parking lot–which I’m seriously not judging at all–you’ll eat in your car or somewhere nearby. You’ll open the container, releasing a heavenly fragrance, and behold those perfect tacos. You’ll eat them. You will find them both delicious and life-fulfilling. (Conclusion: Taqueria Sanchez’s tacos are the solution for most problems in your life) Those problems in your life, they don’t exist while you’re consuming tacos. Most items on this menu are probably delicious, but (seeing as it’s a *taqueria*) I’ve only ever had the tacos. Again, I encourage anyone to eat the tacos at Taqueria Sanchez. tl/dr: Quality tacos. Eat them.

Azuls Taco House – Menu with Prices – 1142 Edgewater St NW, Salem

Very underwhelming. I wouldnt call these authentic, only because I spend a great deal of time in Mexico (about every 6 weeks) and they arent even close. I could see how those who arent familer would call these “street tacos”. I Ordered the shrimp tacos. Tortilla is great and shrimp were cooked nice but wasnt very good. The shrimp is cooked in a style that I would put on a Po’boy, not in a taco. Cabbage “filler” needs some flavor, specifically a little cilantro and onions, maybe a sauce in with it. It had diced tomato that didnt add flavor and were mushy. Didn’t care for chipotle aioli sauce that came on shrimp. Ordered a side of chips and salsa and were served a tiny side of completly stale tostitos style chips and a cilantro tasting salsa that wasnt very good either. We thought it was a free sample till we realized that was the chip order. I would say slightly embarrassed that is what they are offering. I appreciate what they’re attempting but I have had better at various taco trucks around town.

Tocayo Taqueria & Tequila – Menu with Prices – 810 Ivy St, Pittsburgh

I really really really wanted to like Tocayo, Walnut is desperate for more diverse food options, and I had really high hopes for Tocayo, but after stopping in for a meal on Friday night my hopes were completely dashed. This is quite possibly the least flavorful Mexican food I have ever ordered (outside of Mad Mex, which doesn’t even earn the label of Mexican food). Let’s start with the appetizers. We went with the chips and salsa, opting for the hot salsa and the queso. I actually quite liked the queso, and while the hot salsa had a bit of a nice smokey flavor, it was most definitely *not* hot, and otherwise super bland. Ok, next up, let’s discuss the tacos. Absolutely zero flavor. We did the barbacoa and the al pastor, and while the al pastor was marginally better than the barbacoa, the barbacoa like the salsa had zero flavor. The tacos needed a serious dose of cilantro, lime, and spice, and there was zero heat to the barbacoa. Honestly, and it hurts me to say this, Chipotle’s barbacoa has more flavor. They were also way over stuffed, and why do entrees at a Mexican restaurant come with a side salad? Super weird. Finally, the drinks. We had two margaritas, and they were, as the story continues, pretty uninspired (far too sweet and syrupy, not enough savory). Only a small portion of the cups were rimmed with salt, and that barely saved them. Despite the very lackluster and disappointing food, the staff were insanely nice and the service was top notch. Shout out to the bartender who was both waiting tables and making drinks, give this man a promotion! It could be that the kitchen is still working through things or that they were just swamped the night we came in. As I love Mexican food, I’ll swing through again in a few weeks and see if the food is has improved!

Sabroso Cafe – Menu with Prices – 13121 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove

You’d think living in Southern California means a bountiful variety of authentic Mexican food on every corner. Unfortunately not. Mexican food in the south land has watered down to cheap imitation. Usually Mexican restaurants throw something with meat, rice, beans and a Pico de Gallo looking medley together in a tortilla (probably flour) and voi la, Mexican food. We’ve really done a disservice to Mexican cuisine here, but unfortunately most people will never know better. Until they visit Sabroso. Sorry, you won’t walk away with 2 tacos rice and beans for $8.99 here but you will walk away with enlightened taste buds. First of all, their corn tortillas. Home made from scratch. You can taste the corn as you bite through fluffy layers of warm, moist tortilla. I’d be willing to bet that a super majority of people of non-Mexican descent have never eaten such a delight. We also ordered their guacamole. The guacamole was pricey, but delicious. It was creamy with cilantro, lime, onion and a hint of tomato. The complimentary chips they serve are delicious too – generously salted and perfectly crispy. Finally, the main event was the chicken pozole. A hearty, hefty bowl arrived on my table with a side platter of fix ins – cabbage, cilantro, onions and limes. The broth was deep red and piping hot. Inside the hominy corn was perfectly tender and nearly melted in my mouth. This bowl, at $12.95 was piled with so much meat the value was incredible. There were mounds of marinated shredded chicken. Served with your choice of corn tortilla or chips, I shoved spoon after spoon, and bite after bite of tortilla laden or chip covered soup in my mouth. I was very pleased with the excellent service by our waitress who was so friendly and prompt. This place is amazing and well worth the price. It’s sad that quality Mexican food is so hard to find in Los Angeles of all places. But I’d gladly drive down to OC to get a taste of this food again. The table next to us got some sort of wet burrito that could easily feed two, perhaps I’ll try it next time.
