We had dinner here the other night with some friends who had two wine flights they wanted to share with us and that quickly made them our bestest of friends. I love how the flights came out in a beautiful vertical metal stand which we all used to cheers.. because why cheers with only one glass of wine when you can cheers with three or four? We had reservations for a Friday night and they seated us right away. Our server was friendly and helpful and came over immediatley to grab drinks and review gluten free items on the menu. Our friends and I are no choice members of the ihategluten club. As celiacs, it is nice to see a menu with so many Gf designations. We tend to all be those people that have eyes bigger than our stomachs so we ordered the truffle fries, burrata, and pork belly as appetizers. Everything was really good and food presentation was on point. As couples, we each ordered a crab stuffed chicken and beef tenderloin to share with our ball n chain. The tenderloin with melted butter and whipped potatoes was excellent. The temperature of the meat was spot on. The crab stuffed chicken was also quite tasty. If I was ordering again, I’d probably go with the tenderloin. It’s definitely a pricey place with most entrees starting at 40 and going up. It helped that our friends are members here which gave us a bit of a discount. Portion quantity, food quality and presentation were all quite impressive.

McClellan’s Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 1035 S Taft Hill Rd, Fort Collins

Stopped in to McClelans last night with a small group. We bought a few flights to sample the cask beer selection before settling on one. I really enjoyed them all. I rarely (if ever) like an entire flight. The beers were really smooth and had wonderful flavor. One of the owners waited on us and she was super friendly and helpful. She went from table to table welcoming people and making sure everyone had what they needed. It definitely had a neighborhood bar feel a la Cheers, which I liked. We had the stuffed pretzel with the jalapeño mango chutney and charcuterie boards to share with the table. Everything was really good. I would pop in there for a beer anytime. Cheers McClellans for a fun Friday night.

Moxie Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2028 H St, Sacramento

We came for dinner here over 15 years ago and don’t have much memory of it. Last weekend, our friends invited us for dinner here and we were excited to try it again. This is old school Sacramento at its best -dark and romantic with lots of celebrity photos on the walls. Adam, the owner, is the perfect host. As our friends told us, don’t order from the regular menu. The daily specials are the only way to go – and listening to Adam recount the options was entertaining and like music to my ears. I ordered the scallops and that is THE thing to order here – order the scallops! You won’t regret it. The scallops were so tasty and juicy and flavorful – served with lobster meat, horseradish mashed potatoes, red cabbage and squash. Oh yes and appetizers were good too – we ordered the crab cakes, mushroom stuffed chicken, beef in phyllo pastry and caprese salad. All good. Dessert was complimentary drinking chocolate in shot glasses. We also ordered the carrot cake, which was your classic carrot cake, with cream cheese frosting and some crispy sugar bits. Wine options were chosen by Adam at our request and he made everyone happy with the glasses that he chose to match our meals. It was like visiting an old friend who knows your taste in wine and picks it out for you. All in all, it was a great night. No ego. No drama. Just friendly, warm service and delicious food done well. I would recommend it.

Catfish Willy’s Seafood & Crab Shack – Menu with Prices – 5720 E Virginia St, Evansville

My first time visiting will probably be my last. It took forever to get our food and then it was wrong. I ordered 2 lbs of snow crab with Chesapeake seasoning and no potatoes. One other in our group ordered 1 lb of snow crab with Cajun seasoning and potatoes. I ended up with 2 lbs of crab with Cajun seasoning. The other person got 1 lb of crab with Chesapeake seasoning and potatoes. We traded dishes. The manager came out and said she would bring me another lb of crab and I could keep the potatoes and they would bring the other person an order of potatoes. She also told us she wouldn’t charge him for the extra lb of crabs legs. I thought that was big of her since he didn’t order them. My husband ordered salmon that was not cooked in the middle at all. The manager said they cook their salmon al dente so it’s not dried out! I thought al dente was pasta or rice, not salmon. The fried okra was very good as was the crab dip and gator fries. It was a cute place, too bad the service was horrible. I think the problems were definitely kitchen based.

The Italian Joint – Menu with Prices – 215 Broadway, Kissimmee

I decided to just take a drive since I’m new to the area and wanted something that wasn’t a chain. This place sort of fell into my lap and it was incredible. It’s a quaint little place with a nice chill atmosphere, a good selection of beer and wine, and some good looking original creations. I had some skewers to start and was amazed by the flavor they had. So juicy. For my entree I has the Tripple B, which was two beautiful hunks of boneless braised short ribs with fingerling potatoes, carrots, and a red wine reduction. The short rib blew me away. Absolutely fork tender and yet still dripping with juice. As a chef myself to see a restaurant putting this much effort into their food gives me hope for the rest of my culinary journey in Kissimmee. I will definitely be returning to The Italian Joint, hopefully with a few newly acquired friends to share in the experience!

Charleston Grill – Menu with Prices – 224 King St, Charleston

If you savor each bite and enjoy the intricacies of well-executed dishes, consider one of the three tasting menus at Charleston Grill (four, six or eight courses). We splurged on the six course — $100 per person — which I believe is the best meal I’ve ever eaten. The menu is tailored to your likes and dislikes. “Yes, I love crab. No, I don’t like lamb. Well….. I would try venison.” Note that everyone at your table must be in accord, as you’re all served the same. This was our menu: ** Crab cake with creek shrimp, tomato, lime-dill vinaigrette ** Sturgeon with beurre noisette, hazelnuts, meyer lemons, leeks, marble potatoes ** Foie gras with roasted apples, feuille de bricke, bourbon-sherry reduction, cinnamon mascarpone ** Venison tenderloin with huckleberry-port reduction, carrot-ginger puree ** Prime beef tenderloin with red wine reduction, asparagus, béarnaise sauce ** Key lime cheesecake with coconut graham cracker crust, grilled pineapple, key lime curd, toasted meringue Service is impeccable without being snobby. The dining room is lovely. (Don’t be shy about asking for a better table. We did!) The wine list encompasses the two E’s: Extensive and Expensive. We brought our own, knowing in advance that the corkage fee is $40 per bottle. Not cheap. If you want to wow your date or celebrate an occasion, consider Charleston Grill. Note that one can order a la carte, if the tasters menu isn’t your thing. Reservations definitely recommended. Oh yes — there’s also live music!

Delvin’s Restaurant & Catering, LLC Menu with Prices 1300 N Hughes St, Amarillo

Hearing raven reviews about this place I decided I would give it a try for myself. I ordered the Fried Catfish & Shrimp special with a loaded potatoes and a side of macaroni. My husband ordered a stuffed potatoe with sausage. When the food was brought all looked appetizing except 1 piece of fish, which looked like it had been a left over and lukewarm compared to the other piece which was crispy, hot, and fresh out the grease. The potatoes which I thought were twice baked had this out gu of the box flavor with 3 strings of cheese I know this because they were not completely melted. The macaroni was horrible it had a weird flavor that I can not put into words. My husband’s potatoe looked really good, but the potatoe at best was lukewarm because it wouldn’t even melt the butter nor the cheese. Not sure if the cooks were having a bad day or if we had leftovers from the lunch rush, either way the food was not worth the $26.00 I spent.

Arcadia Family Restaurant & Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 125 Millers Creek Dr, Winston-Salem

We visited today for a late breakfast/early lunch thing and it was not very good. I ordered the French toast and it was pretty much just some really dry cinnamon toast. It was powdery dry on the outside with no eggy custard inside at all. The menu said it came with whipped topping but mine was just some griddle toasted dry bread with a F ton of cinnamon on it. I asked for some butter and they brought out whipped margarine spread. Let me just stop right here and say that whipped margarine spread and every yellow dyed weird molecular variation of it is a crime against food everywhere. Why why WHY would anyone spend all that time and effort making food and then serve it with oily, fake butter substitute? You’re doing your food a huge disservice. Honestly though, that poor French toast needed more than good butter to save it, but dropping off whipped margarine was a bit over the edge for me… huge pet peeve. I feel like we ordered the wrong food though and we absolutely plan to visit again to try the pizza and/or a Stromboli or something. I’ll edit this review when we do.

Bailey’s Seafood & Grill – Menu with Prices – 5520 Johnston St, Lafayette

We had reservations for Bailey’s on Saturday at 7:30. When we arrived there was no one dining there. That should have been our first clue to leave. Very strange as there was a music festival and college homecoming in town. We decided to stay since it was late. They offer free wine corkage and luckily we took note of that and brought our own bottle as the do not serve any liquor, beer, or wine. I ordered the chicken with rosemary potatoes, and artichokes with a side of broccoli. The chicken was so dry and over cooked I could hardly cut through it. almost the texture of it being left over and warmed up in a microwave. There was no rosemary on the potatoes and they were lukewarm. The broccoli was clearly out of date/old and had some brown spotted areas. The other people in our party also had issues with their dishes – no taste, mushy crab cake that was not cooked correctly. The salmon was ok, side dishes were lukewarm. We sent nothing back , nor did we tell the waiter, because it was getting late and just wanted to move on with our evening. The ONLY bright spot of the night was our waiter, Alex. He was so nice and very attentive!! We felt bad for him having to work that night with no patrons and hence not tips. Hope he finds another job that will pay him better and let him use his interpersonal skills! Thanks Alex for making a bad dining experience more pleasurable. I would give you 5 stars if I could.

Taste of Portugal – Menu with Prices – 148 Delancey Street, Newark

You’re greeted by a friendly and helpful staff as you walk in to the dining room. You could sit either at the bar area or in the dining room in the back. Both have ample seating Bread service was Portuguese bread with warm butter and olives in olive oil seasoned with garlic. The bread was delicious and warm and the butter was spreadable. The olives were seasoned with garlic and olive oil which made them very tasty and the olive oil was a nice base to dip your bread. We ordered three main courses consisted of garlic shrimp with rice and Spanish potatoes, skirt steak with french fries and rice and stuffed shrimp with crabmeat, salad and Spanish potatoes. We ordered a half pitcher of red sangria which was delicious not too strong just perfect. The garlic shrimp with tasty seasoned well with tons of garlic. The Spanish potatoes were crunchy not greasy and delicious. The dish with the stuffed shrimp with crabmeat was great. The shrimps were huge loaded with crab meat. The only thing that we had a problem with was the skirt steak. It was not seasoned well and it was a little tough. But everything else was wonderfully delicious. For dessert we ordered the seradura and tres leche. The seradura was nice and freshly made an the tres leches was also very good, loaded with sweet milk. All in all a great meal with great service on top of it. Will definitely be going back.

Cajun Bistro Express Menu with Prices 1515 Pearson Ave SW, Birmingham

calling all seafood lovers! if you want seafood on the go, Cajun Bistro Express is the place to go. here’s what i loved about it. 1st…butter, butter, butter! butter makes everything better and Cajun Bistro Express does not hold back. clearly, by the photos, you see there’s no lack in seasoning either! i had the crab legs and my niecey poo had the chicken and sausage quesadilla. the crab legs come with your choice of a dipping sauce; gator or swamp. you won’t go wrong with either but i prefer the gator with the crab legs as the swamp has a light sweetness to it that i think would pair well with chicken (and yes they have wings too!!!) so here’s what i liked about the quesadilla (of course i had to taste her food too ). i haven’t had many quesadillas because they’re always boring; cheese, meat, and flour tortillas (yawn). well Cajun Bistro Express quesadillas are far from boring. the tortillas are seasoned and toasted (thank you!!!) and the filling was very flavorful! my niece thoroughly enjoyed it! so again, this location is for when you’re on the go. but if you’re looking for a seafood night of sitting and dining, they have a location for that in Center Point.

Blue Adobe Santa Fe Grille – Menu with Prices – 884 E Williams Field Rd, Gilbert

After a year away since Ashley and I had been here, I wanted to have Steff enjoy a meal here. We came for a late dinner arriving about 7:00. They had a 30 Minute wait going so we decide to wait in the bar for our table. We each had a skinny margarita and the chips & salsa, which is good but needs more heat. Steff thought it was a bit watery. The wait for the table was slightly longer than 30 minutes, not bad. We sat and they brought us a new round of chips and salsa. When we ordered we shared the Raspberry Chipotle Pork Tenderloin because we were already getting filled with the C&S. We wanted to have an additional flavor so we had them bring us some guacamole and it was excellent! The meal was perfectly flavored! The red chili potatoes had a very nice heat the chipotle mango salsa wasn’t too sweet and very fresh with all the flavors coming together very well and the grilled zucchini was perfectly done! There are four 3/4″ medallions of Pork tenderloin all were beautifully seared and the over all presentation was fantastic! I wish I had taken a picture to show you. Since, we were sharing the plate, Each of us had two of the medallions as luck would have it the two Steff had were under cooked in the center of each. One more than the other, only two bites of one but about 1/2 the second were inedible. Mine on the other hand were perfectly cooked, tender juicy and well seasoned morsels! When our server came around to see how our meal was we had already finished so Steff told him about her tenderloin and showed him the inedible pieces. When he returned with our check he gave us a $10 off your next visit card. This was very nice because we will return! We had a very nice evening and sometimes even the best of times aren’t perfect, Enjoy!! Ashley and I went there Sunday night because we wanted Mexican food we didn’t have to make ourselves. They were slow when we got there so we sat right down in the dinning area and got our menus with a killer salsa and chips! Great flavor with the salsa. I had two enchiladas carne adobado one green one red and Ashley had two enchiladas that were sea food mix. I didn’t get the name but it was very good, at least the bit she let me have was flavorful. If I wasn’t so stuffed on only one of the enchiladas I would’ve eaten all of her leftovers! Great food, and I think you could have a great group event there to

Augie’s Montreal Smoke Meat Menu with Prices 875 Potter St, Berkeley

I’ve been here a few times now with my husband. The ambience and food have been great every time. Service is always with a smile and they are patient with me, especially when I can’t make up my mind what to order. Classic poutine. It is very filling and the curds are ever so squeaky as you chew. The small size is perfect for two to share. If you have a heartier appetite, order the smoked meat poutine. Sandwiches. We’ve only ordered the L’Original and CJ’s smoked meat reuben. Both were delicious with a generous portion of sliced meat. Comes with a small cup of tangy, coleslaw and a pickle spear. Another time I ordered a bowl of chicken matzo ball soup. The matzo ball was like an island in the middle of my bowl with bits of chicken and veggies. Quite tasty, but with a (shared) sandwich and small classic poutine, I ended up not finishing it all. For St. Paddy’s Day we came in for a special menu item of corned beef and cabbage. Really, really good and generous portions. Thick slices of corned beef on a bed of cabbage and boiled potatoes called to my Irish heart. The difference between having corned beef dinner at Augie’s vs. home is that I ate a reasonable portion. At home I would have eaten too much! The menu is pretty meat-centric and there are a few vegetarian options. Not sure about vegan, though, except for a salad, coleslaw and pickles. Per my husband, they have a good selection of beer on tap and bottled, while I opt for iced tea. It’s a great place to hang with friends, share a bite and a few brews. There are three screens on the wall if you want to watch hockey or whatever sport is playing.
