Ordered the Otsunaaji burrito which I do not recommend to anybody. Firstly, in the entire burrito there was a total of 4 little slivers of tuna that were half the size of a traditional slice of sashimi. Then, there was SO much jalapeño, to the point where I took it all out and made a little mountain out of it. Not only that, but the jalapeño tasted weird, like expired if that’s even possible. Also, I wouldn’t recommend a hot pressed sushi burrito to sushi lovers because it doesn’t taste right warm, I’ve learned, plus making it in a flour tortilla is kinda gross. I was expecting a giant seaweed wrapped roll like most sushi burritos I’ve had. They are making so much profit off of this for about $10 for those 4 little slivers of tuna..if you get this you got finessed.

Basho Sushi – Menu with Prices – 775 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston

Of all the sushi burrito/rice bowl restaurants I’ve been to, I’d say that Basho express is just okay. The first time I was here, I ordered a sushi burrito which I thought was pretty small – it was more like a sushi roll than a burrito. I wasn’t expecting it to be thick like an actual burrito, but it was pretty thin compared to other sushi burritos I’ve had. The other times I’ve been here, I ordered a bowl because it was bigger in terms of portion size. I really enjoyed the bulgogi rice bowl and will definitely order it again! I think that’s the only thing I like here on top of the arrange of Asian drinks they sell here. I think I just need to explore the menu more. But so far, the flavors are just meh and nothing stands out to me.

Cabo Bobâ??s – Menu with Prices – 847 NE Interstate 410 Loop, San Antonio

After a couple visits to Cabo Bob’s I am sold. An outstanding burrito, I haven’t tried anything else yet, but love the burritos. They offer up burritos, tacos, salads, nachos and bowls, perhaps quesadillas as well. They have various topping and protein options, to include fish tacos, or fish anything if you like which is crispy tilapia, steak fajita, chicken fajita, shredded pork, shredded brisket, and sautéed veggies. The chicken reds and toast your tortilla to order as well which is nice. So on my most recent visit I went with the steak burrito, and asked them to make me a tortilla using all 4 flavors so they mixed buttermilk flour, ancho chili, cilantro tomatillo, and Smokey cheddar to make me a nice tie dye tortilla, filled with steak, cilantro lime rice, Baja beans(sautéed veggies mixed with pink, cargamanto, navy, and black beans) which seemed like a nice mix to me. Th that I added fresh shredded Monterey Jack cheese, sautéed poblano peppers, onions and zucchini, along with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, queso, pico de gallo, chopped onion and cilantro as well as diced fresh jalapeño, and shredded cabbage. Top all that with some fresh lime juice, tangy tomatillo salsa, hot jalapeño salsa, chipotle crema, and their hot 66 red sauce and my massive burrito was complete. I decided on no sides, and did not need them as this massive burrito should be able to fill anyone up. The burrito has great flavor from the mix of beans, so the melding of all the sauces and fillings, some citrusy tang, a bit of spice, and nice texture. Soft beans and rice, some well seared meat, and the fresh pico, plus a nice crunch from the cabbage all come together to make an amazing burrito. I highly recommend trying out Cabo Bob’s, and I am sure all their other items are amazing too, but I am in love with the burritos. A very cool little restaurant, with a nice beach, Baja surf shack feel, putting out quality food, using quality ingredients, so for around $10 you can get a pretty massive burrito that is sure to leave you satisfied. They can do gluten free corn tortillas as well, and have many veggie, and if need be dairy free options. They also don’t use any high fructose corn syrup in their drinks, so they have all specialty sodas which is pretty cool. So if you are near the airport and wanting a good west coast style burrito check it out I am sure you will enjoy the experience.

Hibachi Express Highland City – Menu with Prices – 5209 US Hwy 98 S, Lakeland

This is my favorite restaurant for sushi! The staff is always so friendly and I can order my food ahead and come straight in and pick it up. My favorite dish is the pink lady sushi roll. It is salmon, tuna, krab, cream cheese, avocado and fish eggs wrapped around the pink soy paper and under it is spicy mayo and eel sauce. The ingredients are always so fresh and delicious every time I get it, it is literally the best sushi roll I have ever had. The soy paper almost melts in your mouth. The only negative thing I could say is I wish they would wrap it a little tighter because it’s a big roll and unless you eat it in one bite it falls apart. The 2nd roll I got on this day was the crazy tuna roll. It is pretty much raw tuna on top of a spicy tuna roll. I think a lot of people would like this but I am not a huge fan and it is just because I do not care for their spicy tuna. I prefer fresh tuna and adding my own spices. The spicy tuna has an odd consistency and I don’t care for the flavor. I don’t usually get their hibachi meals anymore but I have and I get the shrimp lunch. It’s $7.25 for a huge meal with the shrimp, rice and vegetables with your drink included which is such a great deal!! Sometimes when I am on a diet I will just get the shrimp lunch with extra veggies instead of rice and it is yummy! It doesn’t quite taste as good as the hibachi you sit down and it but it is still good and WAY cheaper. I would recommend this place anytime!! I went there last week a friend and I order a sushi roll each in advance and we still had to wait 20mins which is insane. We let a nice young man up at the front know we were waiting he apologized and brought us free soup and drinks!!

Temari Fine Japanese Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 919 N Val Vista Dr, Gilbert

I didn’t feel it was bad, but it didn’t meet my expectations. I’ll feel this out as I write. First impressions: very crowded, small feeling place. For seating, there are maybe 7? tables that are almost touching one another that have 4 seats each, although I felt very self conscious for my party of two. The tables are a few feet in front of a bar, and that’s the entire restaurant. It’s very small; this is not bad in itself, as some prefer this type of experience. However, it was not comfortable for me and each of the tables in the restaurant save two had people seated at them when I arrived. Cluttered and very full looking walls. Our server was very kind and attentive; she definitely knew what she doing. She gave us our menus and some water to start off with. The menu is several pages long to read – there’s a lot on there. However, it did not include everything on the sushi order we were provided with, and not everything on the menu seemed to be on the sushi order form; either that, or the menu was very bloated and spread out, because the sushi order form was relatively small. We ordered the spicy tuna (regular) roll, lobster tempura roll, and tootsie roll. Now, I’m not sure what the real difference is between the spicy tuna regular and special – those aren’t listed on the menu, just the order form. They’re also up there on prices, $6 + some and $7.25. Our server told us that the special was crab and tuna blended while the regular was just tuna; that sounds like a lot of rolls to me. And that’s just what it tasted like: a regular roll. Our spicy tuna roll was very mundane and was pretty much a spicy tuna roll. Some have suggested that it was “spicy” in a unique way; I’m not sure where these people get sushi at normally, but it was spicy just like I’m accustomed to, which is pleasantly warm and balanced to flavor (I enjoy spicy foods). It seemed to have a little bit more rice than I preferred, but it was almost not noticeable; overall, I didn’t feel it merited the cost as it was just a normal spicy tuna roll. The lobster tempera was also good, but slightly bland; it did come with a wonderful little dipping oil sauce. Surprising crunchy. Overall okay. The tootsie roll was very interesting. It was very ornate and had eel sauce drizzled on it; it was pretty good, but be aware that it does have a tiny hint of that “tootsie” flavor, which I wasn’t expecting (my wife ordered it). Overall good. The service was great while I personally did not enjoy the atmosphere; the food was pretty standard, with specialty rolls being a little extra special (as expected). Not a wasted experience, but not one I’ll likely repeat. However, food is very subjective and perhaps you will enjoy the warm bar and small feeling here while eating some regular sushi more than I. Hopefully the experience is what you feel you’re paying for and not the food.

Las Maria’s – Menu with Prices – 4801 Outer Loop Outer Loop, Louisville

Quick serve Mexican establishment located in the Jefferson mall similar to a Qdoba style where to choose burritos, quesadillas, etc and they dress and prepare in front of you (like subways). The prices are kinda on the higher end. $9-10 for a burrito and soda. The burrito is a solid size. But compared to other establishments In that same mall food court the cost and quantity is lacking. Flavor actually isn’t bad at all. I got the queso chicken burrito and it was very soft and the cheese was almost cream like. Honestly didn’t need a knife to cut it. I will give them credit as it is a different tasting burrito compared to similar quick service Mexican places like qdoba, moe’s and chipotle. Not necessarily a better taste. Just different. Sometimes those other 3 establishments can kinda run together when it comes to taste.

New Deal Fish Market – Menu with Prices – 622 Cambridge St, Cambridge

Went here for the first time to get some sushi-grade fish so my wife and I could try making sushi. In the same boat? This is your place. The fish selection is small but good (although I felt the tuna we got wasn’t really a good choice for sushi). It’s slightly larger than your grocery store fish counter, and all of the fish looks great. The store also carries pretty much everything you need for sushi making: rice, nori, sesame, even fresh ingredients like ginger. I was impressed with how much stuff they had for sushi making here, and I expect us to come back soon. The only thing I wish is that they had more traditional sushi fish like eel and other kinds of tuna. On the other hand, they have some fish I’ve never heard of and would love to try. Recommended

Sushi Delight – Menu with Prices – 1 Keewatin St, Winnipeg

Sushi where you get the most bang for your buck! They use less rice per roll than most places I’ve been. I think a basic tuna or salmon roll was only $3.80 and a pacific roll was just over $5.50 and it’s filled with tuna, salmon and shrimp! Long waits but the wait was worth the price and quality of the food!! Cute couple run the joint, they are slow in making orders, decor is not the greatest but the quality and value of the food is worth the wait!

Domo Sushi Bar & Ramen House – Menu with Prices – 5636 Vogel Rd, Evansville

3.5 star Verdict: Worth a try When my gps took me to the address I was initially confused because I didn’t see any sushi place nearby. Turns out it’s actually inside the China Bistro building so just head on inside. The service was outstanding! Everyone was super friendly and was always making sure I had everything I needed. and the price of the lunch bento box on the menu was hard to believe- sushi AND yakisoba, terriyaki, salad, and miso soup all for $11? Sounds like an amazing deal! Sadly, the teriyaki chicken wasn’t anything to write home about and was served luke warm. The yakisoba wasn’t terrible but was a bit bland. On the upside, the miso soup was great and the spicy tuna roll wasn’t too bad. What surprised me that the spicy tuna itself was good but the rice… well, there wasn’t much of it to go around. I suppose it’s better than having a whole lot of rice and not enough tuna inside, but it was just a little strange. It wasn’t super spicy so if you like a kick but don’t want to feel the heat scorching your mouth it should feel just right. Now you can’t entirely judge a sushi place by the rolls. So I ordered the classic nigiri tuna. The tuna itself would have been fine…..except it was dry. The tamago was good but the tuna was just a huge let down. Will I return? Well, I think this place has real potential. If they can keep their teriyaki hot when it’s served and add some more flavor to their teriyaki and yakisoba I will probably drop by whenever I want some sushi but don’t want to go bankrupt. If the next time I visit the teriyaki is hot and the sushi isn’t dry, I will most definitely upgrade my review to 4 star.

Carlitos’ Way Mexican Fresh Food – Menu with Prices – 8908 Elder Creek Rd, Sacramento

I went here to excited because there were a couple reviews that said this place has the best breakfast burritos in town and when I finally started eating it was a huge disappointment. This burrito tasted like it was made for an Irishman who loves bland food – by the way I’m Irish. This burrito was stuffed, but I don’t think the chef every heard of spices because of there sure as hell wasn’t any Mexican spices in any of the burritos contents or any other spices for that matter. Whoever thinks this is the best breakfast burrito doesn’t actually like Mexican food or have a clue what it should taste like. I won’t call it the best burrito in town but the best breakfast burritos I’ve ever eaten are at La Favorita on Florin Rd – they are actually IMO mind-blowingly good especially their carnitas breakfast burrito.

Ken’s Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 10006 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

Where’s the TUNA?!?!?! For years I’ve passed by ken’s Japanese restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga. I swear, I think they’ve been there for at least 30 years. I figured they must be pretty good to be in business for so long. I decided to persuade Robert to finally have dinner there. The plan was that I was only going to get 1 or 2 rolls at most and Robert was just going to have ramen or a bento box. We didn’t want to do the normal AYCE. We get there and there was a decent amount of people already enjoying. So I was super excited cause I really wanted quality sushi. Got our menus. Wow! The selection was pretty limited. Only about 20 rolls and about 10 nigiri choices. Their nigiris were at least $8-10 per 2 pieces! And the tuna was at market price. Holy cow! That must be some golden tuna for the price to not even be listed. So, I looked at their rolls. I love tuna and I only found 1 that sounded appealing. It was a burrito roll. They offered two sizes, a small (2pieces) and a large (4 pieces). We decided to order the large so Robert could have a taste. Where the heck is the tuna????? It was little sliver of fish. The rest was imitation crab and shrimp tempura. It was so small that I didn’t even taste the tuna at all. That 1 roll costs $16.90!!!!!!! Wow! That is a huge mark up. I can’t believe that they actually think it’s ok to serve that and sell it for that much money. I am so disappointed and my total excitement was deflated. I didn’t order another thing. I was so insulted with that roll I just gave up. I can’t imagine how this place is actually still running. #whataletdown #sushifail I see all the raving reviews on here and maybe the fish really is fresh quality. I don’t know. I couldn’t taste any of it.

AYCE Sushi SCM – Menu with Prices – 3392 S Bristol St, Santa Ana

Brand new sushi joint that just opened up in the South Coast area! That obviously meant that I had to check it out as a fan of AYCE sushi. There was hardly a wait time when I went as it recently opened and not a lot of people know about it. The price is a little more expensive compared to other places, but I guess it’s worth it if you live in the area. I think dinner was about $29 for the weekend and if you wanted to have access to sashimi then it would be about $34. The menu itself is decent as you can choose from appetizers, rolls, sushi, and hand rolls. I tried a bunch of different items and the highlights are as follows: Beef gyoza: super crispy and has a juicy and flavorful inside Crawfish roll: pretty tasty and you get a good amount of crawfish on top of your rolls Salmon sushi: you get a good amount of salmon and not too much rice. The salmon itself didn’t taste fishy, but it didn’t have much of a taste as well. I wish they had options like seared, garlic, or even ponzu salmon. Eel sushi: highly recommend if you like eel! The sushi itself is not overloaded with sauce to the point where it is overbearing. Overall impression of the place is that it is decent, but there is definitely room for improvement. The Tokyo roll is literally just a California roll with tuna on top, which basically resembled the tuna sushi I got. Having more flavorful selections for the sushi would also help justify the price for AYCE. I don’t think they had some classical rolls like dragon roll which was surprising. Service was pretty good as the staff is attentive although some of the workers do not know how to identify or describe the rolls. It would be helpful if visitors were informed of which rolls were which as they tend to come in waves after you place your order. Check this place out if you’re in the area and craving for some sushi! My overall rating would be a 3.5 if I had that option.

Urban Cafe II – Menu with Prices – 3452 E Foothill Blvd, Pasadena

I work upstairs in the Gateway Metro building. When me or my team forgets to bring lunch, we often go downstairs to Urban Cafe to grab something. They have a fantastic selection of snacks and drinks! There’s sodas, juices, sparkling water, coffee, tea, smoothies, and soup. For snacks, there’s a bunch of healthy chips as well as unhealthy stuff like hot cheetos and kettle chips. They have gummies, candy, and trail mix. But, best of all, they have breakfast burritos! Their veggie breakfast burrito is homemade and is soooo bomb. I need the recipe. It has hashbrowns, bell peppers, onions, and scrambled egg. It’s steaming hot and when you add tapatio, it’s delicious. I’ve also tried their croissant/sausage/cheese/egg breakfast sandwich too. That’s pretty delicious and so filling. They crack the egg right then and there. I’ve also had their sushi–both the spicy tuna and the california roll. I wasn’t a huge fan of the spicy tuna but I really like their california roll. It’s fresh and tasty! Not to mention, it’s a great price for almost 10 pieces of sushi. I’m always so full. The staff is really nice–it’s owned by a husband/wife duo who make everything by hand. Anyway, please give this place a visit if you work in the building! They’re so nice and the food is fresh.
