This is the Coffee Truck at Mueller. The menu is standard for an Austin coffee truck. So how do you evaluate such a place? * * * One – location, location, location. They are right at the Mueller Sunday Farmer’s Market which is a wonderful place to be. (Ask the two hundred happy people around you.) * * * Two – try the espresso straight up. No milk. No flavorings. Theirs is pretty damm good. I can go for espresso one of two ways: either super bitter which totally wakes you up, or all out mud (the way a good Turkish coffee tastes like mud). Compass’s espresso is a happy combination of both experiences. The mud takes the edge off the bitter. The bitter cuts through the mud. No complaints from this department.

Midpoint Coffee Brewers – Menu with Prices – 248 Crown St, New Haven

Pretty decent cup of coffee. Midpoint coffee is new to the neighborhood but they’re being welcome with open arms. The coffee scene in downtown new haven just got a shot of something new as this European style Coffee House makes its way in. As Midpoint so elegantly describes; the moment you step into their establishment you enter a whole new scene, one that’s cozy/warm but completely different from the environment outside. It’s comforting, welcoming, and filled with delicious coffee aromas. They keep it simple here. Just coffee. From your cold brews to cortados, the coffee selection is short. They brew Lavazza coffee and even offer this Turkish style coffee (a mix of ground tea/ coffee). My friends and I came here to give this place a try. I ordered the Turkish coffee. It is very aromatic ; flora with a little hint of coffee. The taste was unique. It was sour and fruity, you can’t really tell you’re drinking coffee but it was worth a try (however I would probably not try it again, nothing against the taste , it’s just not for me). My friend got the cortado which is 2 shots with steamed milk and she enjoyed it. The espresso flavor was strong and not bitter. My other friend order a mocha of which she too enjoyed. Overall, midpoint’s coffee creations were well liked. I can see my self coming back here. Midpoint makes a great addition to the coffee scene in new haven

Moxie Java – Orchard Park – Menu with Prices – 7A Brendan Way, Greenville

Really smooth rich coffee. Got a double espresso shot iced chai, really hit the spot. My wife got an espresso borgia and froyo (location is also a TCBY). Owner really takes pride in her business and is a really kind person. She helped an elderly couple download an app to keep track on their rewards points, great personality! Happy place definitely worth the stop!

Baklava Coffee and Café – Menu with Prices – 3315 W Carefree Cir, Colorado Springs

So I just went here and I have to say I see why this place has 5 stars. The service was amazing, the lady who owns the place greeted me with a giant smile and a beautiful attitude. I asked questions and changed my order half way through and then decided to add on to it. I was the kind of person that that employees roll their eyes at with my indecisiveness and questions. Through all of it she was gracious and patient. What I ordered . . . If you can’t make up your mind, what do you do? Get everything!!! Lol. But really, that’s what I did. I got a Turkish coffee, Chai Tea and a Turkish Tea. The Turkish coffee was strong but not bitter at all, soft coffee notes and delicate Middle Eastern hints of flavor. The Chai Tea . . . She makes her OWN!! Yes you read that correct! She has her own special blend and it doesn’t not disappoint. Hands down the best Chai Tea I have ever had! Perfectly sweetened with wonderful aromatic chai spices and the perfect ratio of milk. Lastly the Turkish Tea with steamed milk. Beautiful hints of cardamom, lightly sweetened with a tinge of floral essence. Sooooooo good. I’m hooked and clearly sold.

Cocoa Cinnamon – Menu with Prices – 420 W Geer St, Durham

This is hands down the best coffee shop in Durham! Not only does it have great coffee, but it’s over all a great local business that I’m so happy to be supporting. The coffee menu has your typical fare- lattes, iced coffee, espresso. However, they also have some equally unique and tasty drinks like their shipping chocolates. My usual go to is their iced coffee, and I find that the coffee is always high quality. It never tastes bitter or watered down! In addition to coffee, this location sells pastries from local bakeries. The selection is always good and they even have a section of discounted pastries from the day before. This location has a small parking lot, including a few spots reserved for coffee pick up. The shop itself is small, but they have definitely optimized the seating with sofas, chairs, and tables. Heads up-this is a place where it’s likely you’ll be sharing a table with strangers. The vibe is quaint and cozy. It’s the perfect place to sit and relax for a little bit or work on the free wifi!

Steelhead Coffee – Menu with Prices – 3350 E Broadway, Long Beach

While visiting Long Beach I was stuck between two locations a Starbucks ( which I consider death ) or getting an espresso from one of the many Local Hipster coffee shops that Long Beach has to offer. As I was about to drive downtown from 7th street , I see what looks like a brand new shop on the corner of Redondo and Broadway. I found parking ( luckily ) went in and came across to my Surprise Steelhead coffee’s newest location . This is number 5 in a fast growing chain of pop up shops meets actual coffee cafes. I have visited steelheads location at steel craft in The northern part of Long Beach. This location takes the cake . Of course a little expensive , as most third wave coffee shops in Long Beach are. I got a single shot espresso and it ran me 3-4 dollars ( including tip). The location was spotless and baristas had an amazing attitude ( which let’s be honest , is very hard to find in third wave shops) . The espresso was fantastic , pulled at the perfect time . I did forget to find out what type of Coffee they were using on bar. I am surprised they haven’t started to roast their own. But let’s be honest , if it ain’t broke … don’t fix it. Bravo Steelhead, whenever I go to Long Beach you will be my go to on that side of Broadway for a quick coffee fix. The only downside of this location is parking , but it’s Long Beach… just Uber.

Cup – Fine Coffee & Roasters – Menu with Prices – 339 Fleming Rd B-1, Charleston

Delicious, cutting-edge coffee drinks made all the more exciting because of the freshness of the beans–they purchase raw coffee beans and roast themselves. You can taste the difference. The names of the single origin farms are clearly displayed so you know exactly where your coffee is coming from. They are doing everything locally including making their own specialty whipped cream for espresso drinks. I had their unique saffron-infused espresso, and the owner Robbie explained that the Turks used to use saffron for a coffee flavor enhancement. Go find them at the farmer’s markets and chat them up.

French Truck Coffee – Menu with Prices – 650 Poydras St Suite 102, New Orleans

I am not a â??coffee aficionado or expert, I just know what I want and what I love. Anyway, before we start walking around the beautiful Garden District, we stopped by at this coffee shop. We ordered Iced Mocha Latte, Oji drip Iced Coffee, â??and a â??muffin. Iced Mocha – This is my usual order in any new coffee shop that I visit, it becomes my baseline. For this particular location, their Mocha Latte is different from other Mocha Latte that I have tried. The combination of mocha and espresso give this sour taste, I think the roast of the bean is light to medium with fruity undertone which I don’t mind but not my favorite. They also put a lot of ice, but I think you can just ask them for less ice. Oji Drip Iced Coffee – The process of making this coffee is a separate attraction which you can see over the counter. The coffee itself tastesâ?? like a combination of some kind â??of tea and fruit flavor, truly not in my alley but it was a â??refreshing taste for the summer heat. Muffin – I totally forgot the name, but the softness and deliciousness of it stayâ?? with me. It was just a â??perfect pick-me-up muffin. Space – They do have a good amount of tables and chairs, where you can hang out with your friends, working, studying or just people watching. All in all, it was an okay experience, coffee was refreshing not my favorite but the muffin was amazing. I recommend to give them a try, you will have your coffee fix and an Instagramâ?? post.

Perk Avenue Drive Up Menu with Prices 3198 N Hwy 97, Bend

If you are like me (and I hope for your sake that you are not), you just have to have a good espresso drink first thing in the morning, every morning, or you are not happy. So wherever I go, I take the time to find the very best espresso available. When I visit my relatives in Bend, Perk Avenue is that spot. The coffee is *awesome*, you get it *super fast*, and the people there are *super nice and fun*. They even put me in a good mood *before* I get my espresso, and to be honest I didn’t think that was possible. Plus it’s a locally owned family business, which I am always glad to support. If you are staying anywhere in Bend (and especially at the Shiloh or Riverview which are very very close), this is where you should go. But even if it’s a little bit of a drive, the time you save getting your coffee quickly here vs. waiting in line somewhere else will more than make up for it. And the quality of it will make your whole day better! Get the coffee you deserve. Get it at Perk Avenue. ?

Half Pint Café – Menu with Prices – 537 SE Ash St #108, Portland

Unlike most of the food/drink establishments I visited while in Portland, this wasn’t planned at all. I dropped off our rental car pretty early and then decided I wanted some coffee, so I pulled up yelp and went to the nearest highly rated coffee shop, and I’m glad I did, because I was extremely pleased with it. There’s nothing fancy about the place, it’s just a little coffee shop, but their coffee is top notch, as is their service, as are their prices. I usually get a fancy sugary coffee drink, and they certainly have those, most notably as far as the sort of thing I particularly like drinking, they have a Mexican mocha with a cinnamon and pepper chocolate syrup they apparently make in-house, which I ordered, and then immediately changed my mind and said scratch that, I’ll just have a regular espresso instead – partially because I figured I’m in the capitol of good coffee and I should try to learn to like straight-up bean flavor, and partially because, admittedly, I’d just gone crazy spending money on foodie stuff right and left all week and I liked the idea of saving a couple bucks. The guy working there (not sure if it was the owner? I feel like it may have been) was super friendly and happy to let me do that, even though it was cheaper. Then, as I was sitting there sipping my very good espresso (though admittedly I think I’m just not a pure coffee person – I could tell it was quality, but I just can’t totally get into it), he surprised me with a mini cup of Mexican hot chocolate, because he could tell I was so conflicted and wanted to let me try both of them. Totally not necessary, but certainly appreciated. Unsurprisingly, it was totally delicious, and if I’m ever back in the area and want some coffee (likelier than you might think, given that I have now totally fallen in love with basically everything about Portland), this will be one of the first places I think of, and their Mexican mocha one of the first drinks. Was just the right amount sweet, and just the right amount spicy. So good!

Nine Bar Espresso Menu with Prices 45 Bromfield St, Boston

Best coffee in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood, by far! For the six years I’ve worked in DTX this little space on Bromfield St. has hosted two coffee shops that immediately became my favorites. Boston Brewin operated here for 7 years until it suddenly closed at the end of 2018. It took a few months into 2019 for Nine Bar to open, but no disappointment at all when it did. The proprietor Erik brews Gracenote coffee and serves two blends daily, which he rotates every week. The coffee is awesome. Always fresh…always hot…never bitter…and very consistent from day to day…week to week. I’ll leave it to others to comment on the espresso and espresso drinks as I’m more of a straight up coffee drinker, but suffice it to say a coffee here with a shot of espresso (called the Red-Eye when it was Boston Brewin) is the bomb! Nine Bar also offers iced coffee, tea drinks, a variety of breakfast pastries and healthy snacks. I highly recommend Nine Bar if you need a quick caffeine fix and bite to eat on the go.

Halo Espresso Bar – Menu with Prices – 3024 Hurontario St, Mississauga

I hate doing this. As someone who works in “specialty coffee,” I don’t like rating other shops – especially negatively. I’m always on the look out for new specialty coffee shops because coffee is always a learning experience and an adventure. And I believe in supporting independent “specialty coffee” shops. I want to be at shops that not only pulls amazing espresso shots, but that the baristas show passion in their coffee. I was really excited to visit, having seen it on Instagram. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in Halo – a place that brands itself as a “specialty coffee” shop on Instagram. I have now been there twice, because I thought I’d give them another chance. While today’s visit was better, Halo has ultimately let me down. Coffee shops need to be able to dial in their espresso shots – meaning that their espresso is calibrated to bring out a balance of flavour. The first time, the shot was so bitter that I couldn’t finish it. The second time was much better, but still very sour. A shop’s espresso doesn’t have to be completely perfect – coffee is always a battle to find the perfect flavour. But this was just poor quality. The staff on my first visit was quite cold, but the barista that served me today was quite nice. They weren’t very passionate about coffee though. That love for coffee really goes a long way for a coffee shop. This was not a place that was serious about their coffee. It showed in the staff’s interactions with me, and the quality of the espresso shot. It’s ok for a shop to be mediocre in its coffee. But I expected much better from a shop that brands themselves as “Mississauga’s own independent specialty coffee shop”. I don’t like posting negative reviews, but Halo gets a thumbs down from me.

Trade Roots, Fair Trade Gift Shop, Coffee House, & Wine Bar Menu with Prices 5852 Washington Blvd, Arlington

Iâ??ve worked in and out of the Westover area for about 10 years. Iâ??ve driven and walked past where this shop is so many times. It was once a record store, then a â??trade rootsâ? shop, but I never bothered to go in because I was always pre-occupied with work. But within the past year or so, I gave myself a break and treated myself to a visit, only to be pleasantly surprised that it included a coffee shop! Browsing the store was my therapy for the day and the atmosphere was so awesome. I was really into everything and felt an excitement about the whole concept of helping others and helping myself to this treat! I remember walking out of there with a new lease on life. I knew I had to go back because it was totally up my alley and I was curious to meet the person who owned such a cool place. Anyway, I finally went back because I hadnâ??t yet tried there coffee. Turns out, they have the BEST coffee in the entire VA/DC/MD area! Who knew? I knew at that moment. Because Iâ??ve tried it all, and Illy used to be my favorite coffee (the Italian Store is literally across the street) but after I tried the espresso at Trade Roots, I was instantly hooked and have never looked back. Trust me. Try the espresso. Get a latte, an americano, you name it. I donâ??t know what it is with theirs, Iâ??ve even tried the $80 a pound Kopi Luwak coffee before and it doesnâ??t compare. (Please Google it lol) So, long story not so short, I make it my duty to go back there each week to not only take a break for myself, but to really make a difference in other peopleâ??s lives, which I believe life is all about. And, if Iâ??m going to drink coffee anyway, I would much rather be in an inviting atmosphere that makes me feel good, slow me down, and know that literally everything in the store is fair trade. Oh, and did I mention the espresso is the best Iâ??ve ever tasted? They have it all, unusual teas, real matcha, Vietnamese coffee, Turkish coffee…
