We have been to a number of Indian restaurants throughout Denver. A notable one at Anschutz medical campus is Chai and Chai. However, after several takeout episodes Star of India, we have formally voted this into our number one spot for Indian food in Denver. The rice portions are generous and delicious, the pakora and papadam is great, the flavors are consistent and delicious. Some of our favorites: chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, and just about all the vegetarian dishes. In fact we have not been disappointed with ANY dish we have ordered and indeed enjoy the food for days after. Have you noticed that Indian takeout improves with refrigeration and re-heating the next day? Weird but true for us. Hey, don’t let the shopping mall location put you off. This place is terrific.

Saffron Indian Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 8868 Minnie Brown Rd, Montgomery

So I’ve had the buffet here twice and it’s been pretty good each time. Only being disappointed by one or two items. But after tonight I’d say skip the buffet all together and just order off the menu. Of course Indian food is often expensive because of all the work put into the sauces. But it’s worth it. There are items on the menu that are totally worth trying but I may never see them on the buffet because of the work involved making them or maybe they just want to put out the more popular type dishes “Americans” like. First: Malai Kofta – this is a vegetarian dish of veggie dumplings in a creamy cashew sauce. It’s so good!! My sister and I liked it even over the meat dishes. It’s rich and creamy but without feeling heavy. Second: Paneer Makhani – this dish has been on the buffet before, but of course it taste much better fresh. The tomato sauce is creamy and smooth. Third: Gobi Manchurian- this is a fried cauliflower dish that’s spicy. If ordering in house it will probably keep it’s crunch. But I ordered out so the steam from it being packed up took a bit of that away. But it was still amazing! They have some Indo-Chinese dishes and this tasted like one of them. Almost like a GeneralTso’s chicken but with cauliflower instead. Very good and just the right level of spiciness. I’m definitely going to go back and order off the menu again. Definitely worth the price and I’d like to see if the dishes that I was disappointed by on the buffet are better off menu.

The Indian Bistro Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 671 Ohio Pike H, Cincinnati

Indian Bistro offer authentic Indian food. Diners may enjoy their food ordered off menu, during their lunch buffer, or three nights a week from their dinner buffet. That’s right. Indian Bistro is one of the few Indian restaurants offering a dinner buffet. We got there as they opened. Everything on the buffet was hot and either looked fresh, or was sufficiently stewed. Nanna was fresh. Flavors were balanced. I enjoyed the variety offered. Several vegetarian options with protien from either chickpeas or tofu were available. I did not feel that anything was too spicy. The spiciest dish I tried was the fish. It had a slow burn. My youngest did not have much on his plate. They noticed, and brought a plate of chicken not offered on the buffet for him. It was a kind and appreciated gestures. Several people were picking up to-go orders. One order was even being picked up Doordash.

Punjab Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 5479 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee

Sometimes trying out a new Indian restaurant can be a Gamble. You never know what region the kooks maybe from or how they will prepare their food. I had a strong desire today for my favorite Indian appetizer Gobi Manchurian. I looked up on Google Punjab kitchen to be close enough and they had the food I was looking for. The restaurant from the outside looks kind of plai. it is in a strip mall.I have learned from previous encounters at restaurants to never judge a book by its cover and never judge a restaurant based on its location when I went in the atmosphere was comforting they had good upbeat Indian music on and I was helped immediately the service was very good there were two very nice women who were very attentive and at the same time never overbearing. I placed my order knowing already what I had wanted I got the Gobi Manchurian I got chicken tikka masala spicy and an order of garlic naan. The food came out quickly. Everything tasted very good. The Gobi Manchurian was cooked just right, the garlic naan was cooked great and had just the right amount of garlic. The chicken tikka masala was on point. I ordered it spicy but it was in no way overwhelming. of course it comes with white rice and what I enjoyed was they gave just enough rice to enjoy the meal with I’ve been to a lot of places that over do the rice as if they’re trying to fill you up on it but this was the perfect amount.sometimes when I’m having a good meal like this I look and try to find if there is actually any down points to my experience. There was none at this restaurant everything was either exactly what I expected or above and beyond. I would recommend this restaurant and if I lived closer I would come here more often!

East India Company Pub & Eatery – Menu with Prices – 349 York Ave, Winnipeg

I hate to give less than stellar press to Indian restaurants because this is one of my favorite cuisines! BUT, for the first time in quite I while…I was largely unimpressed. Perhaps it’s because I ordered my meal to go? Or maybe the EIC isn’t outstanding Indian food. All I know is I payed a pretty penny and most of what I ordered was mediocre. I settled upon a vegan combination lunch for one. Salad, dessert, chana masala, rice, and aloo gobi. The salad was a little sad; just some lettuce and tomato slices. The chana was really oily. My dessert was supposed to be burfi, which is a kind of fudge, but instead I got jalebi….which I’m not particularly fond of. The aloo gobi was the best part, but is kind of difficult to screw up. It was a lot of food, don’t get me wrong. Finishing all of my food was a challenge but I succeeded. I was just left wanting something better!

NaRai Siam Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 120 E Cheyenne Mountain Blvd, Colorado Springs

We ordered take out from this restaurant. The first thing we noticed was the price of all the dishes were quite high compared to most Thai restaurants. We figured that the food must be good and perhaps the quantities would be larger. We sure were wrong. The food was mediocre and the quantity was small considering the prices we paid for each dish.We started with Chicken satay which was overcooked and dry.For the main course we ordered Shrimp Panang Curry. For a $16 dish there was hardly any shrimp (maybe five pieces). We also ordered one of the more expensive dishes ‘Lemongrass Beef Short Ribs’ which was $24. The dish was not bad tasting but for the price the quantity was very disappointing. Normally we spend about $30 for similar dishes for two people. Our bill was about $55 and we expected a lot more and were disappointed. We could have gone to a nice sit-down restaurant and had a much better meal for this price than the takeout we received. If you know Thai food, I would stay away from this overpriced restaurant with their small portions and skimping on meat and seafood in their dishes. I don’t mind paying more for a meal, but I expect to receive more either in quality, taste, or portion size. My advice is to try somewhere else. Maybe this review will cause others to post their similar experience with this restaurant.

Kurry Leaves Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 12607 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park

When I’m in an Indian market I like to ask the ladies with shopping baskets containing the most interesting Indian spices where the best Indian food can be found, other than in their own kitchens of course. Last time I did this I was not surprised by the answer I got, she said Kurry Leaves and Kulture Kurry, my two top SKC standbys. Kurry Leaves offers authentic Punjabi style food, which is often a bit more spicy than other spots in town. I’ve been to India a few times and KL’s food is still nothing like spice levels you’d find in India, but it’s closer. They serve only halal meat, which is more expensive and always tastes better to me than non-halal meat. The service is great and the owners are super nice. I always go to Chai Sai when I want India (Lahori food in the case of Chai Sai), but I’m convinced that Kurry Leaves is the best spot in SKC. Kulture Kurry has a nicer atmosphere (if you are looking for a place to take a date), but for pure flavor I’d have to put KL just a bit ahead of KK.

Little India (Bombay Street Food) Menu with Prices 2236 Highland Ave, Birmingham

On the recommendation of the Owner/Chef, we tried the Chili Chicken with Fried Rice. The dish came out steaming hot in a reusable to-go container. The chicken was battered and fried before being covered in “gravy”, a mildly sweet and spicy sauce. The gravy dishes are by default served with generous helpings of gravy, although they can also be ordered “dry” or “without gravy”. This dish was delicious and far superior to any Chinese takeout near the area, especially for a menial $7. We also ordered the Chicken Hakka Noodles, a dish similar to Chow Mein, although more complex. Hakka noodles are a type of boiled noodles that are tossed and mixed with vegetables, chicken and sauces. Both Hakka Noodles and chow mein are made using noodles and similar kinds of vegetables are added to it. However, there is a slight difference between the two. While Hakka noodles have their roots in Hakka Han or Han Chinese, chow mein comes from Taishan. Hakka noodles have dominant Bengali flavours but chow mein has flavours that can be closely associated with Chinese flavours. Whatever the differences in chow mein and Hakka noodles, they were certainly tasty!  This dish was served tossed with chicken and green onions and a savory sauce with a latent heat. Another win, and again, for only $7.  Perhaps inaptly titled, “Little India,” offers more Chinese-Indian fusion than they do Indian food. New names for the establishment are being tossed around. Most of the menu items sounded like Chinese dishes, however, many dishes of modern Indian Chinese cuisine bear little resemblance to traditional Chinese cuisine. Staple base options for an Indian Chinese meal include chicken, shrimp or vegetable variants of “Hakka” or “Schezwan” noodles popularly referred to as chow mein; and regular or”Schezwan” fried rice. Though the names sound similar to familiar dishes, this food stands alone.

Indu Indian fast food chaat house – Menu with Prices – 4925 W Market St Suit 1105, Greensboro

This place is pretty cool. The food is awesome and affordable. The 10 platter can feed two people and samosas are $1. This is a great place for vegan dishes (just let them you want nondairy). They have in door seating or do takeout. Overall, Indian food is great and this place does a good job of making authentic Indian food. Lastly, the restuarant is inside the Indian market and is a great place to shop for ingredients to make your own Indian cuisine. I will be back to this place for sure.

Spice N Rice – Menu with Prices – 6537 W 119th St, Overland Park

I love Indian food and have eaten at many great Indian restaurants, representing all regions, from fancy places to street food. Visiting family in the KC area, we ate at “Spice N Rice.” Both of us had eaten there before and it’s been decent but not special. So we tried it again as it’s nearby. It was a disaster mostly. I honestly don’t know how this is getting great reviews here on yelp. It’s been a 3 star at best in the past and now it was truly awful. I ordered Aloo Gobi and instead of this I got a dish of stewed tomatoes with some cauliflower and potatoes floating in it. The cauliflower and potatoes were the only correct ingredients in this dish. When first served, I asked the waitress if she brought the wrong dish as it was not supposed to be a broth of stewed tomatoes. She said that yes, this is how aloo gobi is made, “with lots of tomato sauce.” When we questioned her again later, she got the menu out and brought it to our table, and read the description of it out loud, which of course was completely different from what was prepared for me. She then looked confused and said nothing, shrugging. My sister ordered chicken makhani (butter chicken), which she had enjoyed here in the past, but this time she said she wanted the butter chicken sauce without the pieces of chicken. She was told it would cost $3 more without the chicken, as “the sauce is very expensive.” My sister agreed as she just wanted the sauce on rice. Unusual, but she’s requested this at many places and it’s always been great. When her dish was served, it was a bowl of puréed sauce the color of a bright red vindaloo sauce. It tasted like Campbell’s cream of tomato soup only with sugar added. Again, the waitress said this is how it’s made… The rice and naan were fine, the vegetable samosas were fine, but the entrees were not what we ordered and also not really representative of Indian food in any capacity. Knowing they served us both the wrong food, and it was bad, they brought the bill with no apologies. I left a 20% tip and regretted it. Can’t help myself as I know they make so little, but I do want to warn people this is not a good Indian restaurant. It’s also surprising that the wait staff is not knowledgeable about the menu or this type of cuisine.

Spices of India Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 833 E Shady Grove Rd A, Irving

We came here after hearing that they serve food South Indian food for dinner! We walked in and were directed to their dining room – about ten tables and booths with a large mural of the Last Supper on the wall. Side note: if you’re allergic to nuts and peanuts, definitely let your waiter know! Some of the rice dishes and all of the biryanis have peanuts in them and they won’t make new rice for it. We also tried to order gobi manchurian but apparently they ran out during the day so it must be a popular dish! We ordered the beef roast and a Chana masala along with a side of Naan (comes with just one naan) and paratha (comes with two). Our waiter also suggested we get a side of rice, which I thought would be white rice. Instead he brought a fried rice that I almost started eating; but noticed a sliver of peanuts. He apologized when I addressed it and admitted he had forgotten that it had nuts but we didn’t really end up eating it. The beef roast was delicious and I would definitely recommend it! The paratha is also really good and flaky. The naan is a bit tough and the Chana masala was just okay – not enough tomato for my taste personally. I would definitely try a different vegetable next time we come! I noticed quite a few people ordering ahead of time and taking their food to go. We were one of two parties there on a Friday night. However our food only took about twenty minutes for it all to come out! Not a ton of parking, but we didn’t have any issue.

myThai Downtown Restaurant Menu with Prices 333 W 4th Ave Suite 228, Anchorage

Thai food is by far my favorite cuisine, so when I was walking around downtown Anchorage, stopping in here was a no brainer. My delight in finding a Thai restaurant only strengthened from there. . . The location is fantastic. It’s a small, cozy spot, just off the street. If you face the front window, it makes for great people-watching while you eat. If not, the decor inside is fun and inviting. . . As soon as we sat down, my partner and I were given two menus: One with meat dishes, and another with all vegetarian dishes. I usually (but not always) stick to a vegetarian diet, and it can be tough to find the vegetarian options on a menu, so it’s nice to have an all-vegetarian menu. That was a definite plus. The staff were also amazing. The women who took our orders and checked in on us were pleasant and fun to talk to us. They even remembered us when I came back 2 days later with my in-laws. Excellent service for sure.. . The food was delicious. I ordered the drunken noodle dish, which was a little mild for me, but with some of the table chili sauces, I was all set. My partner ordered the larb. He loved it so much that he ordered it again on our second visit. Fantastic flavors, fabulous service, and great location. I definitely recommend.

Turmeric Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 153 Regent St, Salt Lake City

I discovered ‘Turmeric Indian Cuisine’ via YELP!! YAY FOR YELP!!!! One if those yelp elite events that I missed….(Sad Face! :() But… Indian food gods were like ….Girl!! No worries we will be opening another location downtown which is like 400ft from my work place….And I was like THANK YOU INDIAN FOOD GODS!!!! NAHH…I didn’t even know they were gonna open one in downtown. I just happen to see the “Coming soon” sign while I was going to ice cream at the last course (Btw best ice cream …EVER!) So this was my first time there. So I figure I’ll order what I always was order when judging a GOOD INDIAN SPOT, And That is BIRYANI. In my humble opinion if the biryani is good every other dish just maybe close to BOMB. ? I have had MANY VARIATIONS of biryani, but none of them beats moms. Biryani is THE STAPLE FOODS of india. It is one of many dishes that is readily available ALMOST EVERYWHERE. What is biryani?? I am glad you asked… It is the FOOD OF INDIAN GODSSS!!! LOL It is a rice dish, it is a celebration on your tongue, all that is great about indian curry flavors with or without meat. Most likely eaten with ‘Raita’ savory yogurt sauce. (feel free to ask me more about the sauce ? ) Anyways…. So i order the ‘Chicken Vijayawada Biryani’ (no worries it’s difficult for me to pronounce it as well lol ) it was delicious. The spices were on point and chicken was tender and tasty. Raw onions and lemon just adds more taste to the dish. It came with ‘Raita’ and some funky looking yellow sauce that I didn’t care for. I was impressed at the portion. Most indian resturants are quite stingy with their portions. But this portion serves me well, lunch and dinner!!! I know most people who aren’t familiar with indian dishes are likely to stick with very few indian dishes like butter chicken, tikka masala and naan …But I encourage you to try other dishes, we have MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM … Definitely going back and trying other delicacies & will be back with an update. ?
