Tl;DR: Interesting take on an American fusion, good bimbop, free lollipops! Nestled in between a gaming cafe and a number of tea shops is this Asian fusion shop where you can get classic Korean food like bimbop and even burgers and fries with a Korean twist. I went with the bulgogi burger which is essentially a normal burger but with the added toppings of a fried egg and bulgogi beef (on top of a beef patty). It was actually pretty good and the sweetness of the bulgogi went really well the rest of the flavors. The portions were fair for the price and it came with fries! On the other side my colleague went with the bimbop and it was hot enough that you could make the crunchy rice by sticking it the side of the walls of the pot. You’d be surprised how many Korean places don’t serve hot bimbop so our tummies were definitely happy to get the good stuff here! The service was the same quality that you would find anywhere else, not great but hey that’s America! On that note we didn’t get the batch of veggies and other goodies that Korean restaurants normally serve as a sort of appetizer. I’m not sure if we had to ask for it specifically, but I noticed no one else in the restaurant had any either. Overall it was pretty cool and I would recommend taking a risk and going with one of the Asian fusion items.

Bento Kitchen Cravings – Menu with Prices – 310 N Clippert St Suite #6, Lansing

The interior was nice and clean and the staff was really nice. Food was served quickly. So far so good. I really wanted to like this place. I got the kimchi bulgogi burrito, kimchi bulgogi “fries”, and spicy wings. I took a bite out of my burrito and all I tasted was cheese that tasted like kraft singles. I thought maybe I took a cheesy corner and I was expecting to taste more. Nope. From start to end, all I tasted was cheese. Their fries were also disappointing. It was more like thick potato wedges, more kraft tasting cheese, with a very small amount of uncooked kimchi placed on top. Kimchi fries I’ve had in the past from other mexican korean fusion restaurants usually came with a copious amount of fried kimchi on top with a bunch of other toppings like green onions, sour cream, etc..

WONJO Korean Cuisine Menu with Prices 515 W Fireweed Ln, Anchorage

Good Korean food in Anchorage! Who knew! Won Jo has a soft spot in my heart. The food served here is plain Jane, simple, Korean food that tastes like a Korean mother made in her kitchen. By no means is this anything close to haute cuisine, but the sort of food that you would get if you went to your Korean friend’s house for dinner. My parents and I came here twice to eat. In our two visits we had chicken bulgogi, beef bulgogi, bibimbap, doenjan jjigae (soybean soup), and soon tofu (tofu soup). All were very good and we had no complaints. My favorite item from Won Jo is their marinated tofu that comes as a banchan (side dish). It is oh so delicious! I could eat it up all day long. Because tofu is a bit of a luxury item in Anchorage, they couldn’t give me as much free refills as I would have liked (that you normally get in a Korean restaurant), but I was still very happy that they did give me an additional refill of marinated tofu. The service is prompt and friendly. If you’re looking for good simple Korean food because you’re tired of eating salmon, Won Jo is the place to go.

Bonchon – Downtown Greensboro – Menu with Prices – 607 S Elm St, Greensboro

Bonchon is DEFINITELY a place you’re going to want to MONCH-ON next time you’re in downtown Greensboro! They are serving up some really delicious Asian fusion style dishes, and most notably, some of the better fried chicken I have ever had (that says a lot as a born and raised southerner)! My wife and I tried it tonight, and I just had to go home and write my review while the flavor was still fresh in my mouth. We had a variety of things from the menu… a small (10 full size tenders!) order of chicken tenders halved between their sweet sauce and their soy garlic sauce, an order of parmesan seasoned fries, and also a plate of bulgogi fried rice. The chicken definitely seems to be the star of the show here, and I can see why. Each piece was tender and moist with a great crunchy batter surrounding it. The soy garlic sauce was the better of the two, I was hoping for a little more pop from the crunchy sweet variety, but it was really good dipped in Sriracha! The bulgogi beef fried rice really exceeded our expectations, awesome tender strips of beef mixed up in deliciously spiced rice and a really good portion of it as well. The seasoned fries were nice and crispy and were another good thing to dip in the Sriracha, i personally would like even more Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, but it was very good as is. We will definitely come back to Bonchon again and try some more of the great variety of dishes!

Bonchon Fairfax – Menu with Prices – 3242 Old Pickett Rd, Fairfax

OVERALL: 9.1/10 (Yelp Converted Score: 4.55/5). I came here *twice* in my four days in the city, since it was (1) a great price, and (2) ungodly high quality that I could not ignore (yes I’m addicted please don’t judge me). I’m a fan of good-tasting, high-quality food – the first time I came here, I was *hooked*! Note: They *have* non-meat options, but if you’re going to a restaurant that is *KNOWN FOR IT’S Korean Fried Chicken*, I would expect that you would at least have an open mind towards trying different styles / cultures of food. 1) VARIETY/SELECTION: 10/10. For what they’re known for (signature fried chicken), the selection is awesome. – there are two types of sauces – soy garlic and “korean spicy”; since someone in my party wasn’t able to handle spice that well, we opted for the soy garlic. – there are two “types” of pieces – wings and drumsticks. – there are three “sizes” (wings/drumsticks, respectively): Small (10/5 pieces), medium (20/10 pieces), and large (30/15 pieces) – and boy, the drumsticks are typically *huge*. I wouldn’t bother with the strips or the boneless wings (although they have those options) – YOU CAME FOR FRIED CHICKEN, RIGHT? For *everything else* that is NOT fried chicken, this place has a fairly diverse selection. They have traditional Korean dishes such as bulgogi, japchae, and bibimbap; for “Asian Fusion”, they have a large selection that varies between Salmon Avocado Ball, to Chicken Katsu, to Takoyaki, to Shrimp Shumai (… wat) to Popcorn Shrimp to Potstickers to Udon Noodle Soup. They also have side dishes like Fries, Onion Rings, Kimchi, Coleslaw, rice, Pickled Radish, and Edamame, as well as a couple of salad options. 2) FRESHNESS: 9/10. I said it at the beginning, but I guess I should reiterate – I am addicted to this fried chicken. So much so that I went to the *soft opening* of Bonchon in First Hill in Seattle earlier this month because of how much I was craving their fried chicken again. The other things we’d ordered were fresh as well; the fried chicken definitely carried the other dishes when it came to “freshness”, but I will say that I thought that the Takoyaki and then the Popcorn Shrimp (in that order), relative to the rest of the food we’d ordered, tasted the most fresh. 3) VALUE FOR MONEY: 9/10. For the Signature Fried Chicken, we ordered the large portion of the soy garlic chicken wings (15 pieces) for $36.95. This roughly comes out to $2.50 per chicken wing, so the portion size of each wing has to be fairly large, right? (check out the attached pictures for yourself) For Asian Fusion, we ordered: – Takoyaki ($7.95) – this was fantastic, there were 6 pieces, so each of us had two. – Popcorn Shrimp ($12.95) – there was SO MUCH of this we were legitimately afraid we wouldn’t have enough room in our stomachs to eat the all of fried chicken (we did). It was delicious – it wasn’t too greasy or overfried! Great appetizer for sharing. – Bibimbap ($14-$15.95) – I think we ordered either the bulgogi or the soy chicken bibimbap, but this was pretty great as a possible “main dish” on it’s own, albeit the portion size wasn’t great. Relatively speaking, we (three people) ordered a decent amount of food and felt like it was decent value for money, but I will say that some of the portion sizes of the non-fried-chicken dishes were hit or miss (relative to their respective prices). 4) SERVICE: 8/10. Note: first visit, the restaurant wasn’t all that full (we went as soon as it opened). I noticed on numerous occasions that there were a lot of staff standing around, not helping/bussing tables or preparing orders, but legit *standing idly*, as if they were waiting for something to happen. It was difficult to flag down an employee for things like paying our bill, or asking for more water, or requesting more napkins since chicken wings tend to be messy to eat. We also

Panda Libre – Menu with Prices – 748 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert

Well…… I read the reviews yet decided that I would risk it nonetheless….. I did the same thing once with girl my friend said was CRAZY….that one I almost got stabbed in the eye with a Bobby pin…. This one I just left me feeling frustrated, confused and still very hungry. I don’t even know where to begin… to say that the food lacked flavor would be a gross understatement. I ordered Bulgogi…. a dish I have ordered hundreds of times all over the world……. never have I seen it served like this. I also ordered fried rice. I received brown rice with cubes of steak that had ZERO relation to Bulgogi. I mean seriously, this could have been something special in Gilbert, but you have too be able to cook the things that you have on your menu. And cook them well. I mean if you tell me you are a beautiful woman and then we meet and you are heavyset man with one eye, I don’t think that your profile picture being great is going to stave off my rage over the real you arriving for our date. This restaurant has got to be in real trouble right now…I would give you this advice: go to Asian and Mexican restaurants and learn how to make the dishes you list on the menu. For now, Chino Bandino is the ONLY Asian/Mexican fusion restaurant you can count on…. I am literally driving to the west side right now, because I need immediate fix of Jade Red Chicken…….

Korean Garden – Menu with Prices – 2801 Vaughn Plaza Rd T, Montgomery

I went here with my sister and her friend for dinner and it was pretty good. We love Korean food so we decided to check this place out. I ordered the Bibimbop with no beef. It was good and comparable to Bibimbop from other Korean restaurants. My sister ordered the spicy squid and she said it was really good ( the veggies in the dish included green peppers, onions, and carrots). My sister’s friend ordered the bulgogi and really liked it. The side dishes were rather lacking. The kimchi and spicy cucumbers were good but the other sides weren’t nearly as good as other Korean restaurants we have been to. This restaurant has fountain drinks which is nice because some restaurants like this serve cans of soda. The service here was not terrible but not great. I had to ask for refills of water every time but that isn’t enough to say the service was bad. The waitress was nice and our food was hot when they brought it out. All in all this restaurant is pretty good but I gave it three stars because the side dishes weren’t that great.

Dae Bak ChopHouse – Menu with Prices – 1949 Fort Campbell Blvd C, Clarksville

I ordered the beef Bulgogi and it was AMAZING! The kimchi was spot on and perfectly matched the Bulgogi. The Ahjumma was so sweet! I cane in with my 1 year old and she even helped by playing with him while I tried to eat. I normally sit at home and watch my k-dramas. But it was nice to go out to eat and still be able to watch my dramas on their tv. my son even kept coming back for another bit and he’s typically a picky eater. The amount of food provided was good for me to take the rest home and still have a full meal later, even with my son eating too. The ratio of rice to beef was spot on, and there’s even a little Korean Mart next door. Best Korean food I’ve had in 5 years. I will definitely be back, and I definitely recommend! * Update: the Daebok Family has become our second family. Every time I come with my son, they have something for him with we wait for our food. Tammy is an absolute sweetheart. They’re so patient with my rambunctious almost-2 year old. I haven’t tried anything on the menu I didn’t like, and I’ve had just about everything. We go at least once a week and we’re never disappointed!

Qwik Chek Deli & Catering – Menu with Prices – 2018 Clearview Pkwy, Metairie

This place is ok. It’s a like in hole the wall place. Looks like a neighborhood convienience store. Food is alright; a bit pricey for what they serve. We order a 12 inch shrimp poboy and large cheese fries to split. The cook behind the counter was nice enough to serve the poboys on seperate plates. The cheese fries was a very big portion. We only ate a third of that. My boyfriend didnt like that the poboy was served on sesame covered french bread. I didnt mind it too much. The shrimp were nice sized but this was definitely NOT overstuffed. The lettuce and tomato were shredded and diced and sparce. It just really wasnt anything worth bragging about. It was just… ok. We left out of there full but not satisfied. We contemplated on what better options we had with the money we just wasted on this place. We couldve split a kobe beef burger at cheesecake factory for probably the same price. Im not even crazy for cheesecake factory’s atmosphere. Well, lesson learned. Always gonna be hit or miss when trying new places. I always have high hopes for small mom and pop businesses but for the most part this was somewhat of a let down.

Gangnam Korean Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 10326 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park

Pretty good food. I haven’t been to too many Korean restaurants around KC so I can’t really compare but I’m satisfied with what I got here. Service was good. Can’t complain. Received the wrong dish but promptly fixed so no problems with that. Prices are a bit high but food was tasty. We ordered the Gochujang Bulgogi which was my favorite dish because I love Bulgogi and the spicy Gochujang sauce was right up my alley. Sweet and Spicy beef basically. We also got the squid also dressed with a similar type of sauce and enjoyed it as well. We ordered the seafood pancake as an appetizer and it was sizzling and crispy yet light. In addition, we got the chicken cutlets which looked like chicken katsu. It came with a side salad on the plate which was nice because everything else was hot and spicy. The chicken itself was delicious and the sauce was a nice contrast to everything else we had. In addition, you get Banchan which is a staple at Korean restaurants. They are refillable side dishes that normally include Kimchi, Pickled Radish, Kimchi radish, and other things. Therefore, you will never leave hungry since you can get as much as you want for those. Probably won’t be back for a long time since there are other Korean restaurants to try in the Overland Park area. This place is solid though and would recommend!

BIBIM KITCHEN Healthy Korean Bowl – Menu with Prices – 10345 S Eastern Ave #110, Henderson

Decided to come here after needing some quality food after Memorial Day Weekend. PARKING The parking was great – There was a ton of spaces outside of the place. There aren’t any meters around this area, and the complex that BIBIM Kitchen was in had a large parking lot for their customers. I tend to always pay attention to the parking areas because if you’re from LA… Well… You know lol. FOOD It was okay. The photo looks better than the actual food itself. I ordered 2 beef bulgogi bowls and 1 Bulgogi Kimchi Fries. Honestly I was not impressed at all. The beef bulgogi could have had more flavor. It was pretty bland and on top of that, could have been marinated for much longer. I had to add so much spice to it that, by the end of it all, just tasted… Spicy. No flavor other than that. The beef bulgogi fries was the same. The beef could have been MUCH tastier. I felt like I was eating some fries that was just bland flavor. Ended up only eating the fries and tossing the rest of the food. The bowls were about $8.95/bowl and the fries was about $5.95. Total came out to about $25 for 2 people, which I personally feel was not worth it, given the lack of flavor. SERVICE I went in there, not knowing what or how to order, but it was very much like Chipotle-style. The lady that was serving me was very nice and patient. However, BEWARE: You are only limited to SIX TOPPINGS. The lady that was serving and helping me out never mentioned this at the beginning and by the time I wanted more toppings, she said “Oh you’re only allowed 6 toppings.” Granted she never forewarned me, I would have assumed that she would make an exception to the bowl, but that was not the case. I learned and applied this knowledge to the next bowl. RECOMMENDATION/OVERALL RATING Not worth it, I would say it is probably a 6.5-7/10. I’ve had much better flavor + service. If you’re in the mood for a rice bowl, you’re better off going to Chipotle itself or another fast food joint. Hope their meat becomes more flavorful + marinated for longer.

Yoon Haeundae Galbi – Menu with Prices – 8 W 36th St, New York

I have to admit that I held a high expectation for this place given the feverish reviews and 4.5 ratings. PROS: Service was top-notch, and the staff was all polite and welcoming. Pricing was very reasonable–it is pretty consistent with other Korean BBQ places, food alone would cost you 50$+/person before tax. They offer you one beer each Yelp check-in, which is very nice, considering that offers of this kind are usually one per table. The table wine I got for $7 during happy hour tastes not bad at all. Space is a lot cooler, quieter, and more stylish than other K-bbq places. Kimchi stew was delicious (But, con here: they don’t come with rice. You need to order rice separately. WHAT??? First time ever no rice coming with a jjigae…) CONS: Their meat tastes quality, but I’m not sure if I like how they prepare them and their marinade or dippings. We got the MARINATED PACKAGE for two ($95~). It consists of four different kinds of beef: galbi, belly, sirloin steak (I might be wrong), and bulgogi. All meats are over softened to my taste. Really, they are all super, super SOFT. If you like very, very tender meat, this is the place for you. But I prefer meat with at least a bit of chewiness/hardness, which makes them taste like meat! Their galbi was softer and fattier than any of the Korean galbi I’ve had in my life, of which I’m not a huge fan. Belly and bulgogi are very very similar. The bulgogi was even more fragmentary strips of beef than the belly, which looks and tastes kind of pathetic… My favorite among the four was definitely the sirloin steak. Their marinade and dippings are very very SWEET, and they don’t serve you gochujang/spicy sauce unless you ask, which is kind of weird. Also weird: there is lettuce salad among banchan/complementary side dishes, but no lettuce for wrapping… I felt sad because I love my K-bbq meat wrapped in lettuce leaves together with the banchan and rice etc.! You can add Potato noodles for $6. Don’t do it! They really taste nothing but sweet in the bulgogi sauce. Absolutely no chewiness or anything worth eating or talking about. Just pathetic soft, overcooked, muddy noodles.

Joy’s Cafe Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5157 55 Ave NW, Edmonton

I was looking for a non franchise to eat lunch and this place looked like a good bet. It is definitely a local joint, the inside looked like someones house and all the items were written in dry erase. There is definitely a language barrier, my friend tried to order soup and they said there was no soup but then we pointed to the menu and said there was soup, so he got… some sort of beef stew. I ordered the bulgogi bowl and it was really good. Everything tasted really fresh and it was served hot and tasty. Id like to explore their menu a little more. Try some of their korean fried chicken or one of their sandwich offerings. My only criticism is where is the cafe part? I didnt see coffee or tea on the menu There was a keurig in the corner… So i guess that counts?
