Friday night they have halibut fish and chips! Woohoo! Virtually no wait on a Friday night. Got our party of 7 a nice table semi on the patio. The back half of our table was right along the bar inside. Which was fine for viewing NBA, NHL, baseball games on the 3 screens. I must say for $14 you get a nice light side of coleslaw, an abundance of fries, and tasty beer battered halibut. I do appreciate how my little ones have a nice large kiddie menu to choose from. With fish and chips being an option too. Although it doesn’t list it on the kids menu, drinks do come with. Eating out is one of the few times my kids are allowed to get soft drinks ? They had 2 sour beers on tap. I do like a good sour! But I have to say, my hubby’s nitro cream ale was superb. Service was not spectacular despite the massive amounts of wait staff on hand. Never was offered refills on water or kid drinks. My brother-in-law waited almost 20mins for another beer he ordered. I think server only cared if we ordered the expensive alcoholic drinks to check to offer more. Not good when I can blatantly pick up on that tactic. We had very long gaps and very few check backs. I felt we had to hunt/wave her down if ever we needed anything. It was kind of loud but we could hardly hear/understand her as she never spoke up and seemed to mumble. I believe it to be important to be understandable and clear when talking to your patrons. Especially if you are busy. Not walking away, leaving the table hanging and customers wondering “Huh”? So, despite the service, the food and beer were tasty. The patio lovely. I adore the sound of their water feature and the lack of smelling cigarette smoke despite being outside. (A pet peeve of mine). They had a great selection of sports on their TVs too; with something for everyone to enjoy. Always on the hunt for good halibut in the Boise area, this fit the bill. Hence the 4 stars instead of 3 for meh service. **Another sad ending to yet another Boise establishment, as the Cole location of Sockeye has shuttered their doors ?

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8002 – Menu with Prices – 9398 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland

If you are looking for ambiance, this is not for you. But— 4 stars were earned for food, service, and value. I had the $10 for 7 butterfly shrimp which was delicious. Comes with two sides. I ordered baked potato and garden salad. Salad was run of the mill but they offer honey mustard as one dressing option. Not always easy to find. The baked potato came with butter, sour cream & cheese at no extra cost. Beer was a whole $2/bottle. The place was packed on a Friday night but we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks at the bar and carried to our table. Food took a while to come out but I’ve waited longer before. Nice place for a fish/shrimp dinner but not for a special dinner to impress since it’s just tables & chairs set up against a wall.

Sea Fish N Chips – Menu with Prices – 45 High St SE, Calgary

I just got home from a late lunch/early dinner at Sea. Fish n Chips. I’m pretty disappointed. While it wasn’t dreadful, it definitely won’t have me returning. First, the food. I ordered the “Jaws” meal, with the halibut as my choice. “Jaws” comes with 2 prawns, 2 scallops, 2 oysters, fish, slaw, and chips. Sounds great, right? Well, not so much. I received a TINY spoon of slaw, a handful of chips (honestly, about 12-15 pieces?) and the seafood. The chips tasted as if they had been fried in old oil. Not very good at all. The prawns and scallops were decent enough, the fish was a TINY portion though (i’m guessing 2 oz. TOPS, which when paying the premium for the big meal with the premium fish, I expected a bit larger) — the fish portion tasted fine, but I am dubious as to if it was actually halibut. (I used to manage a Fish n Chips place — I can identify fish by taste/texture. It was more akin to cod or a haddock — not dense like halibut usually is…hmmm…) The oysters though? There was something definitely off with them. I was actually frightened to eat them for fear of becoming ill later…. and I am not one to be persnickity usually. The “off” oysters now brings me to my next issue with Sea…. the service. The service was friendly enough, but the server was completely inattentive. We were one out of the 2 tables in there and they didn’t appear to busy with take-out service or anything. Both myself and my dining companion ordered coffee and we waited a very long time before being offered a refill. When we received our meals it was still awhile before we ever got more coffee, and she dropped our plates so fast that we couldn’t even catch her to ask for more. (where she was off to, I have no idea… like I said, we were one of two tables) We never got any sort of quality check. I was waiting, and waiting, hoping she’d come by so I could let her know about the strange/off oysters, but nothing…. I finally went to the counter and told the young man, because the server wasn’t even IN the dining area. (??) The response? “Really? Huh. That’s weird. Let me get your server.” (I would have apologized…???) The oysters were replaced with 2 other prawns, which was ok. But it was frustrating not having a check-up shortly after food was dropped. I’m in the service industry myself. I am actually VERY forgiving with less than stellar service if I can see the server is overwhelmed with tables, or appears to be in training or whatever. Our server at Sea. just seemed to not really care one way or another. When she was at our table she was “friendly” I suppose, but I felt like there was no actual SERVICE. Given the disappointment in food (value and taste), and service, I don’t think I’ll ever be back. Wouldn’t get take-out either. No wonder the place was pretty much a ghost town…. ?

Latitude Kitchen & Bar – Sunset Menu with Prices 1065 E Sunset Dr, Bellingham

My husband and I finally decided to try this new place down the street from our house last night. We showed up at around 6:30 and had some issues with parking. They share a smaller parking lot with Applebee’s so that’s understandable. We sat in the bar area, and the service was decent. The food on the other hand was just alright. Especially for the price. We started with the calamari, which we enjoyed, but it was the smallest amount of appetizer calamari I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant and the calamari pieces themselves were tiny too. It definitely did not feel like a $14 appetizer in terms of size. I would consider that amount, even at a more upscale establishment, a maximum $10 small plate. For our entrees my husband had the halibut fish and chips and I had the manicotti. The halibut fish and chips were the best between the two, although still on the more bland side of fish and chips we’ve had before. The manicotti was confusing. The menu boasts an eggplant purée and basil creme fraiche with it, but there were at least 4 different sauces on that plate. It was too much. They all ended up somewhat jumbled together when trying to eat the manicotti and all those different flavor combinations led to it just tasting “bleh.” I did not finish it and after trying it my husband elected not to take home the rest, which says a lot. And that was the most expensive dish of everything we ordered at $18. Realistically, the best thing we had was the flourless chocolate torte, and I highly doubt that’s made in house. As for the drinks, I would recommend you either order off of their elaborate menu of froo froo, sweet cocktails, or you stick to the easy, two ingredient stuff. I ordered a Manhattan, or what they would call a sweet vermouth with a dash of bourbon, and I watched a few employees (including the bartender) google on their phones the ingredients to make someone a White Russian. So….yeah.

The Settlement – Menu with Prices – 3254 Bay Settlement Rd, Green Bay

Another Wisconsin Fish Fry Winner! Quite frankly this place is not the most impressive from the outside, but you can tell by the way the people pile in on a Friday Night that they have good food! Drinks were tasty and there were some beer specials. I think the Old Fashions were $5.50. After you have a drink (or 2) a waitress come by to take your order and when it’s ready they come and get you. The food will be on the table so you can sit right down and dig in. The potions are pretty large and the “cup” of soup is bigger than most bowls you would get at other restaurants. (We tried to order a bowl of soup and they talked us out of it… glad they did!). Prices of the food were on par or even on the lower side of most area fish fry’s. Our waiter and waitress were a married couple and they worked their ass off because they took care of the whole dinning area. Even though they were very busy they both took time to make sure we had everything we need and were happy with the food. There were some drawbacks. The bartenders were not very friendly… I would say even crabby. Not a good first impression. The place is cash only and it is tropical hot in there when it’s busy. If it’s warm outside be prepared to lose some water weight in sweat while eating. Actually very uncomfortable. But let’s be honest, it’s Wisconsin…. how many warm Friday nights are there!!

Charley’s Sports Grill – Menu with Prices – 8110 W Union Hills Dr Suite 350, Glendale

I have been driving past this place for a while and we finally decided to stop in there one evening for dinner and drinks. I was surprised at how busy the place was but we were able to snag a table right away. It was a Friday evening and they had a band playing that was very good. The owner came over and greeted us and had someone come and clean up the table right away. I ordered the fish fry and my husband ordered the brat with tater tot’s. The fish fry was extremely delicious, probably the best one I’ve had while living in Arizona and that says a lot from a Wisconsin girl LOL! My husband said that the brat was also very good. Simple, but tasty. We sat and had a few drinks while listening to the band and really enjoyed it there. I will absolutely be back for the fish fry and would like to come back on a Friday again because whoever was playing that evening was very good. The place had a steady crowd the whole evening which was good to see since this is a newer establishment.

Smee’s Alaskan Fish Bar & Market Place – Menu with Prices – 50 N Sierra St, Reno

We came here for dinner on a Friday night after having a warm-up at The Old Bridge Tavern next door. Our reservations were for later but we were starving so I walked over to see if they could seat us early. I was surprised that they were mostly empty around 6pm on a Friday night! That’s a shame for such a cool spot! They were kind and allowed me to change our reservation. When we came back, we were seated immediately and acknowledged by a very nice waiter. He was fast, friendly and helpful throughout the meal. We ordered a Captain’s Special (a beautiful and tasty gin drink), fried catfish, cod fish and chips and tiramisu for dessert. The catfish and cod were well cooked, flavorful and flaky. The chips weren’t chips at all but appear to have been standard frozen fries, not unlike what you buy in a bag in the frozen section of a grocery store. They weren’t bad but I had hoped for proper chips at a chip shop. You know what I’m talking about. Hand cut wedges and twice fried. I will eat here very often if they up their chip game!! The tiramisu was good (not great) but a bit dry. It may have been frozen and I am not sure they added the alcohol (Rum? Amaretto?) that is usually standard. The restaurant and bar are very clean and modern, very unlike a typical chip shop but similar to a higher-end seafood restaurant. I will pray that the Goddess of Chips smiles upon Smee’s but I’ll go back even if she doesn’t. It’s a really nice place. The oysters look amazing if you’re into that sort of thing. I am not! LOL! $$$

Village Green Golf Course – Menu with Prices – 302 Riverdale Dr, Green Bay

Grand Reopening on December 4, 2015. New Chef and new menu! We were very excited to visit the Village Green upon reading about the reopening. We were worried it would be too busy on a Friday night but we were able to get a table right away. The layout is the same but the walls are painted and there is new lighting and soft background music. Overall a very nice experience. I had much higher hopes for the service and food but understand it was the first night they were open for business. It was awkward when we walked in. There is no indication if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We went to sit down in the corner but were told that table was for a group at the bar. We were then directed to another table. No big deal. We ordered our drinks. Waitress came back for food order before our drinks arrived. Always seems odd to me… the timing must be off… drinks and then order. We ordered and then our drinks arrived. Ordered a couple of Southern Old Fashions. They were ok. We wife bit into the plastic spear as it was poking out of both of our drinks (instead of being speared down into the drink). Again, first night issues I’m sure. We had to ask for water. Our food came out. No clam chowder. I received a 6 piece perch instead of the 4 I ordered and was charged for. They were again OK. Seems like they could have been fried at a bit higher of a temperature. May have been the intent to just lightly deep fry the fish. Ordered the fresh chips. A bit cold and all remnants… no big chips… kind of like getting the bottom of the chip bag. Tarter Sauce was great. Cole Slaw was very good. Wish they were served in the small plastic diner-wear… I feel it cheapens the meal. My wife ordered a burger with no onions and no sauteed onions. The burger came with onions. Gross if you don’t like onions. We pulled them off and she really enjoyed her burger. I then asked if I had ordered a cup of clam chowder. Waitress apologized and indicated she forgot to bring it out. I declined having it at that point since I was already enjoying my fish. We didn’t see the waitress again for a while. I had to ask a different server to bring some butter out for my Rye Bread. The bread was phenomenal. Had to flag down our waitress again later for more plastic tarter sauce. Ironically, I was offered a free drink to make up for the missed Clam Chowder… but they made a whisky old fashion instead of southern. Irony. Overall food was OK and service needs to work out a few bugs. I see real potential and would encourage others to go and leave a review and let me know what you think. The other items on the menu looked good. Very limited menu but a very interesting variety of food items. Perfect for a small local establishment. I hope to see them succeed but they will need to work on a few of the items I’ve noted above. Happy dining fellow Yelpers!

El Amigo Seafood Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3955 Old Hwy 77, Brownsville

TASTY!!! Not accommodating to large groups. My family (11 of us) stopped here to eat. We had to sit near the front door because there was no larger space. The server was a sweet lady who spoke minimum English. She brought out 4 cups of water rather than 11. Two bowls of chips, so it ran out in 5 mins. She did bring a pitcher of lemonade, that filled half the tables cups. She forgot a beer that was ordered. We dropped a cup and she never came back to clean up the spot. I felt her co workers saw her struggling but no one stepped in to assist. I ordered the fish tacos, which I was told were grilled but came out tempura like. The fish soup that came with the meal was delicious but more like broth. I probably won’t come back, but if you’re a party of 2 and want fresh fish this could work.

Orchestrated Minds Brewing – Menu with Prices – 803 NW 1st St, Fort Lauderdale

Move over Ft Lauderdale, there’s a new brewery in town and if you like IPAs, Sours, Pilsners or even a Porter, you may have to visit Orchestrated Minds. It is not your typical brew house. It is housed in a loading dock kind of warehouse. The entrance is right across from CubeSmart. It is small and quaint, there literally is a bar and then seating area. There’s a rest room and a water cooler. Two bar tenders and a bunch of thirsty patrons. You can tell it’s a new spot because it still has that new spot smell. I first learned about Orchestrated Minds at another brewery’s first anniversary. There is a lot of great beer in the Ft Lauderdale area. More than is to be expected. Makes me happy to have so many great beer options. And…. Orchestrated Minds is definitely a great beer option. The beers: Little Miss Perfect… she is a perfect sour Whippin’ That Work… not my favorite Auckland to Boise… decent, don’t taste it, you have to atleast do a half poor to appreciate it, it grows on you. There were four musketeers right? This is the STAR of the show… by far the best…. every IPA lover will love this one. Cosmic Conversation… Its a Pale Ale… starts a little sour and finishes smoother. It is a beer drinker’s beer. And, got to meet the brewer/owner, … His passion will make you love his beer. All in all, it’s a new brewery and has a lot of potential. Come visit it and find a beer you like.

Saffron Indian Bar and Grill Menu with Prices 3300 S Vista Ave, Boise

We were visiting boise for vacation and decided to give this place a try as we were craving for indian food that had dosa options in Boise. Being from the bay area, we are used to plenty of good indian food choices and were not expecting much in boise. However, this place turned out to be a big hit. We ordered masala dosa, goat biriyani, mullagawatny soup and paper roast. All of them turned out to be better than our expectations and best part of it was our daughters who don’t eat much asked for more after tasting those dosas. The location, cleanliness, ambience, quality and service were all excellent. The hotel is located inside an upscale hotel in a nice big room with plenty of space. The utensils and food were of high quality and service excellent with quick response to our needs. KK was the one helping us and he made sure we were happy with the experience. We will definitely go back here while visiting Boise. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting indian food in boise

Six Car Pub & Brewery Menu with Prices 625 S Polk St, Amarillo

Six Car is AWESOME. If you’ve been to Kansas City and know what Boulevard Brewery is, imagine that, but 10 years ago before they took off. This is the next up and coming brewery in Texas (along with Brotherwell Brewery in Waco, TX). Beer is still small batches so the quality is great. If they still have it, grab a “Summer Nights” which is a Farmhouse Ale Saison (7.2% ABV) that reminds me of a lighter Tank7. They ran out of the Stoned Wheat-Hefeweizen which the waiter told me was his favorite and hope they bring back. Regardless, they have a big selection of beer, wine, and ciders. And did I mention the food? Their food is top notch bar food/BBQ. Whether it’s the ribs, or the fish n chips, I think this is my new favorite spot in Amarillo. On a Friday night in late August, they had a full band outside which is surrounded by trees, diskgolf, and an area for kids to play around. Staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is pretty sweet.
