I love coming to Sirena for my gelato needs! I’ve been coming for a few years now, and have a great experience every time. I absolutely love the milkshakes they do with their gelato – they’re super creamy and thick and well worth the price. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with their staff, and love that they sell gelato for dogs there now too! I recently attended a friend’s wedding who had Sirena’s gelato served there, and could instantly tell it was theirs. This place is as good as it gets, and I couldn’t recommend it enough, especially when walking around Fairhaven on a nice summer day!

Sorella Gelateria – Menu with Prices – 219 N Limestone, Lexington

Over the summer, I read a book called “Love & Gelato.” It’s about a teenager who lost her mother to cancer and went to live with her unknown father in Italy — there’s a summer romance mixed in there. (I recommend this quick read if that’s your thing, otherwise, feel free to ignore the book recommendation.) Well. After I read the book, I realized it had been a good ten years or so since I last had some gelato — the one and only time I’ve ever had *real* gelato before. And. I absolutely had to get some gelato in my stomach sometime soon. Now, I’ve never had gelato in Italy, but know there is a lot of ‘gelato’ out there (I’ve eaten in the ten years since) that isn’t really gelato at all. To find something real, or as close to real as possible, is kind of hard. Did a quick search online and…. Lexington has a place with gelato!! Later that week, after a visit to the Arboretum, I dragged my husband and toddler to Sorella to cool us off, satisfy my gelato craving, and introduce my husband to gelato. Sorella is a beautiful shop in a fun neighborhood of Lexington. We spoke with the store owner and she mentioned that she (or was it her sister?) learned how to make gelato in Italy and brought that knowledge to this gelateria. Delighted, I sampled a variety of amazing flavors before deciding to get the Forest Berry gelato to share with my son, who was going through a berry phrase at the time. My husband picked a chocolate flavor. Friends, this is *REAL* gelato. The flavorful, light & fluffy, delicious gelato that sets it apart from ice cream and similar desserts. And my son, who didn’t like ice cream (I know, right!?) devoured his portion of my berry gelato. My husband, however, who is set in his ways and loves his chocolate ice cream, liked it but was a bit unsure about the gelato texture. Don’t worry… I’ll work with him on that. LOVE, love, love Sorella!!

That’s Amore Gelato – Menu with Prices – 7605 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Scottsdale

This is the greatest gelato I have ever tasted!! I’ve tried sooooo many and they were always ….. meh. But holy cow this is GREAT!!!! Just excellent. It’s busy a lot (as it should be!) and it’s nice how they’re open later in the evenings since it can get so hot in AZ. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I think they’re a family business. It’s always nice to support small business!! There are plaques all over the walls with their awards. They’ve won A TON!! Well deserved!! They take gelato to a whole new level. It’s clean. It’s bright. I just love it. You can get coffee and sodas as well. They have candies and desserts to eat too. I haven’t tried those yet. But their display is really nice!! Every time I get the opportunity to bring friends here, I do. Love love love this place!!!!! Best gelato hands down!!!

Dolci Paradiso – Menu with Prices – 10740 S May Ave #116, Oklahoma City

I decided to come and try this place out after hearing so many good things about it! I’m always down for some gelato! Upon walking in, I noticed that the decorations are quite nice, creating a cute and classy ambiance for a gelato shop. The service, however, does leave something to be desired. Maybe I came during a bad time, maybe the owner wasn’t feeling the hospitality that day. Whatever it is, it was a little off-putting. I’m never one to care if the service is okay, but the food makes up for it. However, in this case, it did not. The lady seemed short and impatient as soon as we walked in, before we even said anything. She asked us if we wanted samples, and when we said yes, looked like she’d rather we had said no. It felt like we were being rushed to order, and she had a scowl on her face the entire time. I didn’t feel welcomed.I got the brioche sandwich with the chocolate hazelnut gelato. It looked sad and deflated, nothing like the picture. It really was just a scoop of gelato between two pieces of toasted bread buns. I had really high hopes for it, too. My sister got the gelato with 2 flavors. It tasted good, but nothing that amazed me. When we were done and as we stood up to leave, the lady who served us finally cracked a smile and told us to have a nice day. Maybe she realized that she was in a bad mood in the beginning and tried to fix it, who knows. Overall, decent gelato, do not get the brioche, and lukewarm service.

IX-CHEL Frozen Delights – Menu with Prices – 4968 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago

Absolutely amazing! The place is clean, the decor is inviting but not overbearing, and the options aren’t overwhelming but enough. As soon as you walk in you feel as though you are about to eat fancy gelato with insane price tags but nothing can be further than the truth. The gelato is amazing because it’s fresh and homemade. Flavors that are usually too sweet (birthday cake) are perfect and refreshing. Let me backtrack a bit, I ordered two scoops in a cup, hazelnut and Mexican vanilla. Both were delicious but the vanilla was out of this world (I should have tasted it before). The Mexican vanilla bursts with flavor but none overpower the other. The owner say me and my kiddos enjoying the gelato so he offered us a small portion (for free) of birthday cake. My kids instantly wanted it. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and a great place to make summer memories. I highly recommend this place!

Biggins’ Big Dip Menu with Prices 197 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron

I stopped at Biggins Big Dip a couple times last year. They have a large selection of things to order. I have never seen so many cool ice cream creations before. I havent tried one of them but I will this summer. I had bought a bunch of coney dogs for my coworkers and we all loved them. They took time to make them up in separate containers so they wouldnt get soggy for me. I also had a large banana split on another visit. That thing was huge and I couldnt finish it. It was amazing though.

Decadent Dessert Bar Macon – Downtown – Menu with Prices – 530 Poplar St, Macon

Went here after hearing so much about it from other people. Walking in, the decor is similar to what you’d find after a Fixer Upper episode. Very big area with a few tables. Decorated with a Christmas tree fitting for the holidays. We were greeted as we walked in. The gentleman asked if it was our first time and we said yes. So, he came from behind the table to tell us about the plethora of desserts and hot drinks they had. After speaking with him, we decided we’d have some desserts there and some to-go. We ordered a slice of wedding cake, the donut holes skillet w vanilla gelato, a donut snowman for my wife, and a cannoli for myself. The last two items were to-go. We were super excited about all the choices we made. Especially the skillet. It normally takes about 10 minutes for the skillet to be made, so be patient. The donut holes were warm, gooey and fresh out of the oven… or fryer? The gelato was perfect! Just the right amount of sweet and very creamy. The star of the show was the wedding cake! Very delicious all around cake that brought my wife and I back to the day of our own wedding. The two other items we have yet to taste, but I’m sure we’ll get to them soon! All in all a great experience with great service. We’ll be sure to come back soon.

Sweetaly Gelato – Menu with Prices – 1527 S 1500 E, Salt Lake City

Discovered this amazing shop a couple years ago when my husband and I sampled some of their gelato at Fest Italia in SLC. I live in Utah County but I come here 2-3 times per month because I love it so much. The owners are a couple from Italy and are so amazing to talk to. I wish I knew their names but the husband told us he went to the university of gelato in Italy (yes, it is real. Look it up if you don’t believe me.) They are both so friendly and I love coming in when they are there. Now, on to the actual gelato. Let me start by saying that I am a chocolate girl. Chocolate desserts are my favorite but here, salted caramel is where it’s at. Their dark chocolate is absolutely incredible but there is just something about the salted caramel that makes it so special. Every flavor I have had is delicious (and trust me, I have had quite a few.) The gelato is so soft and creamy without any crystallization. They even have a chocolate fountain to drizzle chocolate on your gelato for free!

The Dog Bar – Menu with Prices – 2300 Central Ave, St. Petersburg

Love this place! If you love dogs, you will too!! There is a double gate upon first entering. This helps to ensure that dogs do not run out. After walking in, you must check in. It is $50 for an annual membership, $30 for 10 visits or $5 for a single day visit. If you come in and buy a visitor pass to try it out, they will let you apply that to your annual membership if you purchase it within 30 days of your first visit. This helps to form an exclusivity for the dogs and also helps to make sure that dogs are up to dates on shots and rabies. I was impressed by this. I wouldn’t want my dog to become ill after a play date. To the right, there is a small yard that is more calm for smaller dogs to play in. It has a single gate which a push latch. As mentioned, it is a small area and there usually are not too many dogs in that area. (They recently re-did the big yard and used this until it was finished for all dogs. It is big enough to have a good number of dogs running around in.) To the left, there is a big yard for dogs to play in. There are two entrances/exits. Both have a double gate, again to prevent dogs from getting out. This is the main area for dogs to play. They have various structures for dogs to climb on, jump on and just enjoy themselves. There is plenty of room to sit down and watch all the dogs. They are allowed to pee anywhere. When it comes to poop, owners, in my opinion, are always really good about cleaning it up. They have plenty of poop bags. They also have a lot of water bowls out, trust me, your dog will need water. There is usually a ruferee in this area to fill water dishes, make sure all dogs are behaving and people are having fun. It is an open air bar, so be mindful, during the day it can be hot! So now, let’s talk about the bar. If you walk straight ahead after coming, you will walk right into it. There are two bars in the main area. They do carried a few drafts, a lot of canned beer and seltzer and have full liquor service. There is also an area in the big yard that has a bar as well. The drinks are reasonable. They are definitely cheaper than downtown. I was actually impressed that they were. They also have a number of daily specials (some are on the Facebook page.) They almost always have a food truck that is outside of the bar. There no food sold inside. You can also order food to be delivered. They do not allow people to eat inside the play area, which should be expected. The bartenders and staff are all super nice and very informative. They just want you to enjoy your time there as well as your pup. They have a DJ on the weekend and always play music or have a game going. Check the Facebook page for events. There is always something going on.

Jennie Weller Catering – Menu with Prices – 231 N Hull St, Montgomery

If you are hosting any type of luncheon, dinner, wedding or event in the Montgomery area I cannot recommend Jennie Weller and her catering company enough! I had my wedding at the Young House a few weeks ago and Jennie and her team helped my vision for the big day come to fruition. Not only did she and her staff help me plan a wedding from Chicago, where I currently reside, they were so friendly and accommodating once I got into town. They let us set up and run a rehearsal the day before and pack up the day after. Oh, and have I mentioned their food? The presentation was breathtaking and everything was delicious. My husband and I love Italian food and Jennie created the menu for and served a three course Italian feast including a meat and cheese spread, chicken and eggplant parmesan, and a gelato station. She even had her staff prepare alfredo-using my mother in laws’ recipe! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the whole wedding-they even took us back to a room where they had prepared plates for us so we could have an intimate and relaxing dinner before the first dance. Jennie and her team don’t just make amazing food but they provide amazing service and they do so with care. I cannot thank you enough Jennie, you and your team truly made my wedding day!

Gorgeous Gelato – Menu with Prices – 434 Fore St, Portland

I love Gelato and this is a great place. (Please know that I also LOVE Gelato Fiasco, across the street – Like a parent says to a kid – I love you both equally and appreciate, your different qualities) The selection is decent and very unique – if you would like to sample, they will provide you with one, although not as enthusiastically as their competition – probably because they are usually busy? Anyway… I have sampled from my friends and what they ordered vs. asking at the counter and everything I have tried has been unique and delicious – very decadent, a little goes a long way. One stand out for me….they have so many non-gelato desserts – baked goods galore!!! I want to come back for more treats, I just didn’t plan well in the last visits. Great location if you are eating/shopping around Old Port, otherwise it will take some effort to find parking and walk to this location. I highly recommend this place for a sweet cool treat that isn’t ice cream.

Ella’s Cakes – Menu with Prices – 4110 Enterprise Ave # 105 # 105, Naples

Ella’s Cakes was so flexible and accommodating for our daughter’s wedding. We contacted her only three weeks before the wedding date. She came highly recommended by some recently married friends who were thrilled with their wedding cake. Daniella had a wealth of knowledge and expertise and presented several options after seeing my daughter’s ideas. The end result was far better than we had imagined! Not only was it a show stopper, but the cake was deliciously perfect from the butter cream icing, to the white chocolate mousse filling to the moist vanilla layers! It was heaven in our mouths!

Velebit Gelato & Café – Menu with Prices – 716 10th Ave, New York

Affogato is my summer treat, and I had the most excellent, delicious, balanced, affogato last night at this adorable new place in the neighborhood! We’d seen it walking by, but finally the weather and the time aligned perfectly. Hubby had a small cup of mint chocolate chip gelato, while I chose stracciatella for my affogato. The owner is a chatty gentleman of international descent, Philip (perhaps Felipe or Philippe, not sure how he spells it!), who told us about his start-up process, tasting gelatos and coffees all over the City until he and his family chose what they considered best – certainly my decaf espresso and both flavors of gelato were excellent! Interestingly, Velebit (next time I go in, I’ll ask the provenance of the name of the store!) carries several non-dairy gelato/ice cream flavors as well. There are also some French pastries (some random morning, if I’m up early…). And you’ll find some giftie things (& some religious also, not my thing) to peruse and purchase. We will go in again (I like at least a weekly affogato fix in warm weather!) for the food and the conversation!
