So, today I was in the mood for a good deli sandwich. On Sundays, the selection is much smaller. I used Yelp to search for “Deli”. Sidewinder subs popped up and plenty of good reviews so I figured I’d drive the 15 mins. from Chandler and check it out. I am so glad I did! When I arrived, there was a big sign painted on the window saying “8-inch Italian sub $3.89”. What??!! Under 4 bucks??!! If I was more hungry, I would have bought two! I tried it out and ordered the combo with chips and a drink. I had the “toasted” option. Warm…yumm!! All sandwiches come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and oil and vinegar. You can also add other things like jalapenos, pepperoncinis, pickles, etc. I asked for the pepperoncinis. (they forgot to add). The bread was VERY soft and obviously fresh. I really enjoyed it and wish I could rate them 4.8 just because they forgot the pepperoncinis. ? I’ll be back!

Biordi Deli – Menu with Prices – 12802 135th Ave, Jamaica

The staff was very sweet at this cozy deli. It’s the closest to JFK so I came here to grab a few deli styled breakfast sandwiches before my day started. The staff was very sweet so I feel bad writing a bad review but the food was gross. I ordered an Italian sub and two egg sandwiches. The sub was extremely dry, everything about it was dry. The bread was hard, the meat was salty and dry, the lettuce was dry the tomatoes were ok and they didn’t add any mayo or oil and vinegar. The oregano was even dry. My two egg sandwiches were ok but they were missing the classic deli flavor. We ended up eating the sandwiches but the sub had to go to waste. It was unbearable.

First Carolina Delicatessen – Menu with Prices – 1635 Spring Garden St, Greensboro

Fabulous! I happen to live next to this hidden gem and have always wanted to try it. I ordered a takeout but the customer service made me feel like I was an old friend of the restaurant. I got a turkey club with mustard and it took maybe 2 minutes for them to make it for me! It was incredibly affordable and came with a pickle and chips. The sandwich was a triple decker with lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard and a real good amount of turkey. The bread was whole wheat and toasted to perfection. I will have to show this place to my friends soon!

Sherwood Supermarket – Menu with Prices – 111 Sherwood Dr, Ottawa

So I heard that this place has sandwiches that rival DiRienzo’s (on Beech, really close by) so I had to check it out. In terms of cleanliness, this place has DiRienzo’s beat in my opinion. Only the staff handle the bread, unlike DiRienzo’s where the bread is in open baskets and customers stick their hands in and grab the bun they want and place it on the counter and the staff take it to make the sandwich. I also didn’t see any flies at Sherwood Supermarket. You get your choice of bread (egg bread, rye, whole wheat, white, 12-grain or 7-grain). I had the egg bread. It’s sandwich slices style not bun style. I had the ham sandwich special ($3.99). It came with cheese, tomato, lettuce and your choice of mayo, regular mustard, Dijon mustard, honey mustard, or “Sherwood Sauce” which is apparently mayo, mustard and black pepper. I had the Dijon mustard and let me tell you, it is potent. My sinuses cleared up immediately! The bread was very fresh and soft. The ham was tasty and the toppings were fresh and generous. The sandwiches range in price from $3.99 to $4.99. The DiRienzo sandwiches are larger (but they are all $5, so Sherwood Supermarket is cheaper depending on what you get), but not necessarily tastier. I still really like the DiRienzo (Hot) Roast Beef Sandwich – it’s real roast beef, not deli meat, but I think for cold cut sandwiches, I will be going to Sherwood Supermarket instead. I’d say that the sandwiches at Sherwood Supermarket are similar to the sandwiches at Continental Delicatessen (in the Byward Market). They have a small parking lot in front.

Jason’s Deli – Menu with Prices – 16100 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Frisco

On Jasons deli mobile app I ordered a California club without bacon/tomato/mayo and add honey mustard. Pic below shows they did not give any honey mustard or mayo (super dry sandwhich) or guacamole, or field greens. Instead they put on some spinach leaves. Also they forgot my blue corn chips and salsa that I had ordered. I wish I could say this was my only bad experience here but it is not. Last time I ordered a white chocolate cookie but got an oatmeal cookie insted (not earth shattering, just pretty annoying). My orders have been right several times, but also wrong just as many. When I order on their mobile app it takes a long time for them get it ready. The cashier sometimes doesn’t know how to find our order when I use their mobile app. I really hope management works on these issues. The service is always friendly there, however several workers seem inept. More training is needed. And ALWAYS check your to-go order!

Whistle Stop – Menu with Prices – 5626 134th Pl SE # A, Everett

Came in here for some sandwiches after the park with the kids and wow is it a great find. Walking into the shop it reminds me of a convenience store but everywhere you look are beers and cigars. There is a little counter area for sandwiches and boy do they make a mean sandwich. They can do custom made sandwiches or you can opt for one of their menued ones. I opted for the turkey avocado and it was da bomb. Loaded with quality turkey (they use Boars Head which is good quality) and havarti with fresh lettuce, tomato and onions. The lettuce is green leafy Romain and not the cheap white iceberg variety. Do note the sandwich comes with mayo and a whole grain/Dijon mustard so let them know if you don’t want sauce. You can order a half sandwich or a whole (whole is definitely sharable). It comes with a bag of chips. My wife and I each grabbed a whole sandwich and both came out to just over $17. That is a good deal! And the quality you get beats nice sit down joints.

Jason’s Deli – Menu with Prices – 4006 Florida Ave S, Lakeland

Jason’s Deli4006 S Florida Ave.Lakeland, FL 33813Just had lunch at Jasonâ??s Deli with our Church group. Only our second time here and we still find the menu a bit confusing. I wound up ordering a Bigger Better BLT (with Bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, fresh-cracked egg, mayo, avocado slices, on a toasted multigrain wheat bread). I didnâ??t realize it had a fried egg (which was OK); however, there was little if any tomato on the sandwich. A BLT definitely needs to have enough tomato to taste it. Overall not a great BLT IMHO. Wife had the Managers Special (1/2 sandwich with a one trip salad bar) and substituted a fruit cup for the chips. We both had drinks and the total came to just over $23.00. Thatâ??s a bit high for a sandwich and half and a trip to the salad bar.

Park Avenue Foodmarket – Menu with Prices – 7004, 105 Park Ave # 1, Newark

Came here because of the great reviews on their sandwiches & we were not disappointed. We were visiting for a conference & were staying at a nearby Airbnb. The neighborhood is a little rough for a typical out of town midwesterner, but fine during the day. The guys were really great & friendly & not just to us, but with everyone who walked in. The sandwiches & everything in store was reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches. My Cuban was big, crazy delicious & only $5. I would just say stay away from getting the veggie sandwich. It was $3, but it’s basically lettuce, tomato, cheese & mayo on toasted bread. That would be my only criticism. They have other food, a deli, non perishables, cleaning products & paper products there too if you need them. I didn’t see any OTCs, but we didn’t need any & they may have been behind the counter. They also do lottery & cigarettes. Anyhow, these are friendly locals so please support this small business if your staying close by.

Giacomo’s Italian Market – Menu with Prices – 2109 New Garden Rd E, Greensboro

My friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch last Thursday; it was peak hour at lunchtime but thankfully there were a few tables open to sit down and eat. We were lucky enough to score one outside; it was a beautiful day it was very nice to sit and enjoy the weather. I ordered the number one which is a basic Italian sub with lettuce tomato onion and oil and vinegar. Added a bag of salt & vinegar chips which were delicious! The Italian meats were very tasty on my sandwich however the sandwich overall was dry. I probably should’ve added mayo to it like I do when I order an Italian sub from Jersey Mike’s but oh well. The sub roll was a lot smaller and harder than what I am used to. I am originally from the Jersey Shore and I have experienced the best Italian markets & sub sandwiches in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia, so i’m trying to rate fairly here considering this is North Carolina. Service was friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider coming back here for lunch, however I would more than likely customize my sandwich. Thank you!

Eastside Bagel – Menu with Prices – 8 Line St D, Charleston

Tried a variety of the bagel sandwiches, and boy, did they prove to be excellent bagels! They are definitely the most legit I have found in South Carolina. The sandwiches were loaded with delicious toppings and each deserves individual attention: The Screech Powers (fried bologna, scrambled egg, and American cheese on a plain bagel): Quite possibly the most perfect breakfast sandwich ever. Salty and well-fried, yum! The Hamover Street (ham, Provolone cheese, lettuce, house mayo or mustard on a plain bagel): Piles of sweet delicious ham. Hot lettuce is yucky and I had to remove it. The Ginger Grant (turkey, bacon, cream cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a sundried tomato bagel): surprisingly kind of bland. Bacon flavor overpowered the subtle turkey and cream cheese. Hot lettuce again was yucky. Will remember to ask for none next time. The Eastside Book Club (turkey, ham, bacon, Cheddar, Dijonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on an everything bagel): the everything bagel was too much, and overwhelmed all of the flavors but the bacon. I would ask for this one on plain, and no lettuce. The World Traveller (sausage, scrambled egg, bacon jam, Cheddar, and red onion on an everything bagel): a true taste sensation. This bagel has everything! Might be the best of all. Craveable for sure. The most delicious, authentic bagels you will find! This is definitely a place I will order from again. I only wish they delivered to Goose Creek LOL

Burbank Deli & Market – Menu with Prices – 1414 W Alameda Ave, Burbank

The sign out front says Burbank Deli & Market http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burbank-deli-and-market-los-angeles?select=RaQZvUdmAovM5oFLJua5Kg#RaQZvUdmAovM5oFLJua5Kg but if you ask me it’s more of a Liquor Store than Market! but they do have a Deli section where they make Hot and Cold Sandwiches with a variety of meat and bread choices… I got a Large sandwich ToGo as they have NO tables or chairs inside the market…. Roast Beef (Cold) – http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burbank-deli-and-market-los-angeles?select=RaQZvUdmAovM5oFLJua5Kg#OawevbgbnaIQp6g06QgVug The meat was pretty good but Boars Head it’s not!, the rest was fairly disappointing, lettuce had no crispness, tomato’s… well see for yourself http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burbank-deli-and-market-los-angeles?select=RaQZvUdmAovM5oFLJua5Kg#hVNs5YEJvrj5XycDz-YyKg they also put vinegar, who put’s vinegar on roast beef? bread was not fresh and while it was a roll, it’s NOT a french roll like I asked for http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burbank-deli-and-market-los-angeles?select=RaQZvUdmAovM5oFLJua5Kg#Ifks2zmEdowh0zba26xjfQ That sign on the roof also says they Cater but I sure wouldn’t want them catering my anything!

Franky’s Deli Warehouse – Menu with Prices – 2596 W 84th St, Hialeah

So so glad we trusted Yelp’s Top 100 Locations to guide us to Franky’s Deli – Home of the Double Presses Sandwiches We ordered the two recommended sandwiches – the #1 Ham, Capicola, Salami & Provolone (an Italian on steroids) on wheat with all the fixings (lettuce, onions, tomato, pickles, oil, vinegar and more) as well as the #20 Philly Cheese Steak (thinly sliced rib eye with sweet peppers ). I was surprised at first bite because it was sweet, the peppers give it such a nice twist. Not that they were missing anything but VooDoo Chips paired perfectly with each bite. We gazed at the walls covered with 90s memorabilia that’s when I saw they also sell the Impossible Burger, they really do make something for everybody. They have 27 featured sandwiches, salads, breakfast till 11am and yes….they have croquetas! Next time I think we’d order the #16 Tuna which they make in house daily and the #25 Pan con Bistec and next time I’m definitely saving room for dessert (Tres Leches Factory!!!) This place gets packed so it helps that you call in your order or complete through Uber Eats.

Sandwich King – Menu with Prices – 17885 Sky Park N # G, Irvine

I walked into this sandwich shop the other day for lunch after a night of drinking and was immediately perplexed by the variety of menu items on the board. I counted 8 panels with about 10 items each coming out to roughly 80 different listed sandwiches Fortunately there was no-one behind me in line so i stood looking perplexed at the nice Chinese man waiting patiently to take my order. After a good 5 minutes looking crosseyed at the menu trying not to get dizzy and fall down I gave up and ordered something that i was pretty sure i would like. A tuna melt. “I’ll have the tuna melt” I said The main behind the counter immediately came back with: “What kind of bread would you like?” Oh crap, I hadn’t thought of that. Oh, wait, now where was the bread options in this sandwich matrix. I had to ask. He pointed at the bread options and after a minute of him pointing at the same spot on the menu i finally focused my eyes on the 5 or 6 different bread options. I was confused because they had something like a “Roll” and a “French Roll” and i couldn’t for the life of me figure out why you would need both options. “White Bread” i said “Toasted? ok, so now where were we. 80 options, multiplied by 6 types of bread times 2 for the toasted/not toasted. That comes out to 960! options. “Do you want everything on it?” Shrug.. “Whats everything?” “Lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado, mustard and mayo” “sure i’ll take it all” Ok, binary math now. each option doubles the original set of options. –grinding gear noise in head– We my friends are now at 61440 possible sandwich combinations! Exhausted I sat down and ate my chips and drink. When the sandwich finally came I took a big bite. The 90% of the tuna squished out the sides along with the avocado. The structurally unsound thin piece of white bread disintegrated in my hands and of course was left with the typical tasteless hard as an apple California Tomato which was cut way too thick. What kind of a moron would order this sandwich? I can’t stand avocado either, not on a sandwich anyway. If i had seen a picture of this sandwich before ordering it i would most certainly have chosen something else. And this is the problem with american society today. Everyone wants to have ALL the options, but the thing is. WE ARE ALL IDIOTS! myself included. And what about this sandwich guy. For me, it’s just another bad sandwich. But for this guy it’s his life. He wakes up in the morning and for at least 8, probably 10 hours a day all he does is makes sandwiches one after another. You would think a guy like that would have some pretty good opinions on what makes a good sandwich and what doesn’t right? If i were doing that job, i would spend years trying to construct the perfect combination of bread meat and cheese and then present ONLY THOSE OPTIONS. that way the customer is much more likely to get a good sandwich. Sure, you can show the options as well and you can offer substitutions for those few who want to order something custom but the vast majority of your clients are just going to order off the menu. But no. Who knows how many years this guy has been in business and he can’t even bother to figure out what makes a good sandwich. This is just pure laziness if you ask me. I give this place 3 stars. a mediocre score for a mediocre sandwich. Oh and i don’t have a picture. but just google “sandwich” and you pretty much get the point.
