Erika M I couldn’t have said it better. The dj Had a small table of 6 ppl he knew and only played what they wanted to hear which was music my grandparents would dance to. Nobody was dancing until my group of 9 got there thinking music would change and what we requested would be played. Nope didn’t happen even when a few crowds of people came in had one drink and left shortly after. We still tried to make the best of it and danced while one of his grandparents ( at least 50 something) kept giving us dirty looks and bumping us on the dance floor mind you we are in our late 30’s. The dj was laughing at what she was doing and continued with boring music. So instead of catching a case we decided to leave. If their goal was to clear out the place and entertain their few guest they succeeded. Oh yeah and one of them were eating at the bar.

K M Karaoke And D. J Services – Menu with Prices – 1005 Coloma Way, Roseville

I recently got married and Kenne was our DJ for the event. He was a true professional throughout the experience. He called us multiple times leading up to the event to make sure everything was in order and to the specifics we requested. The biggest request was that we wanted our wedding to be a blast for everyone attending. Our families like to get on the dance floor and Kenne made sure they were not disappointed. From the first song everyone hit the dance floor and didn’t leave until the last song, but Kenne played three or four more songs after he had said last dance just because we were all having such a great time. Kenne made our wedding the party that we wanted it to be. Even our wedding planners and photographers commented multiple times on what an amazing job he did! Kenne was super helpful, very easy to work with, and just fun to be around. You will not be disappointed with him at your event!!

International Dance Club Inc – Menu with Prices – 2422 Busch Ave, Colorado Springs

Great variety of dance music ! Great dance floor! Big place, friendly people. If you like to “couples” dance, or just to enjoy good live music and dance a few line dances, this is the place for you. The music is everything from Country and Western, Polka, Swing, ballroom and latin. People of all ages come and even bring their kids sometimes! You don’t have to be a great dancer, because there are dancers of all levels, from “never-ever” to accomplished ball room dancers. You don’t have to dress up, although extremely casual attire is not allowed. Many ladies look forward for the chance to dress up for their “date-night:” with their hubby, but there are those who just go for comfort with slacks and nice tops. There is a dance almost every Saturday night from 7-10pm, except for holidays. The theme and band can vary. There are free dance lessons too-check their website. The price is inexpensive-$10 for non-members. It is a non-profit, so this is the best deal in town!

The Gentle Penguin – Menu with Prices – 289 3rd Ave, Chula Vista

I came here to the butthole of Chula Vista after a Padres game and expected to go to a bar that was dingy and disgusting! Enter: The Gentle Penguin! I was pleasantly surprised about how clean and classy this establishment was. Then, I ordered a Moscow Mule that turned out to be only $7! It was one of the best mules I’ve ever had in my life! Finally, a place with good drinks that doesn’t break the bank! 10:00 rolled up and a DJ started playing some music and everything he played was good! He was even playing good stuff I’ve never even heard of… it had me Shazaming every song! It was a good mix of hip hop and Latin music! In no time, it turned into a crazy, but fun, dance party! By the end of the night, I was getting down on the dance floor hopping to Venga Boys and doing the Macarena! If you want a sure good time, cheap drinks, and a little craziness… go to The Gentle Penguin!

PG Associates – Menu with Prices – 1900 Section Rd, Cincinnati

PG is Lit! Hosttest club hands down. The DJ played straight bangers the whole night, and the gurls were ACTIVE on the dance floor. PG Associates is a guarenteed night to remember, or not…

Austin Swing Syndicate Menu with Prices 2312 San Gabriel St, Austin

The Syndicate dances are an institution of the Austin swing/lindy scene. They’ve been going since 1999, and are still growing. I started going to the Thursday night dances at The Fed almost as soon as they started, though I took a hiatus for several years when I moved away to go to college. Now that I’m back, I go out almost every week! It’s a great group of people and an easy place to make friends. There’s a fantastic system in place for processing beginner dancers… and the consistency of this system over the past 10 years is definitely a major reason why swing dancing survived its “fad” status in Austin, and continues to attract new dancers. People hear about the Thursday dance, come early for the 8:15 beginner’s lesson, get hooked, and everyone tells them to take lessons from Four on the Floor (classes are conveniently held at The Fed on Tuesday nights). There are several great options in town for learning how to dance, but Four on the Floor has been going since 1997 (yes, I took their early classes in the Starlite Gallery), and is definitely a crowd favorite. There’s also The Lindy Project, Go Dance, not to mention tons of private instructors. The Thursday night dances are all-ages, smoke and alcohol-free, set in a beautiful historic mansion. No partner necessary! Cheap to get in, especially if you pay for a yearly membership. The Fed has a small private lot on 24th St., as well as some street parking, but most people try to park across the street at the bike shop’s parking lot. There’s usually a DJ, but sometimes there’s a live band for special events. There’s also a side room for dances other than swing/lindy, usually balboa, blues, or west coast swing. Variety is the spice of life, after all! There’s a beginner lesson for these alternate dances at 8:15, at the same time as the beginner swing lesson (in another room). Austin Swing Syndicate is involved in more than just the weekly dance. Special events like The Austin Lindy Exchange, workshops, competitions, and more bring dancers from around the world to Austin. I gave them a four out of five stars primarily because the very consistency which makes them such a great avenue for getting new dancers dancing, means that it can also be a rut, and people sometimes forget that Austin is the Live Music Capitol of the World. So many people only go to the Thursday night dance, which is safe, but sometimes boring. Please, visit www.austindance.net and go dance to some live music!

Dayton Ballroom Dance Club – Menu with Prices – 2150 Arbor Blvd, Dayton

This is the best place to take Ballroom dance classes! The instructors are patient and helpful. They making learning fun! You don’t have to have a partner to take lessons. There are always just enough people to fill in as your “partner”. During dance classes, you rotate partners. This gives you a chance to learn from each other. Those who are more advance in some of the dances are always willing to help teach the dance to you. Everyone has so much fun! It is great exercise too! My family has actually noticed I have lost some weight–all do to dancing! Come on out and try dancing with us! You won’t regret it! I will be looking for YOU on the dance room floor!

Flat Iron Cafe – Menu with Prices – 561 State St, Rochester

I am surprised to see no one has written a review for this little gem in town. It is not in the best of locations, but a fantastic little get-away, with latin music, dance floor and a bar. They do have drink specials and salsa dance lessons for free on Thursdays. I used to be a frequent dancer, but have not been here for quite some time now. However, I recommend the place highly. The Cafe will help you organize your office parties – I have sponsored a few parties (grad school and office parties) at the Flat, and it turned out to be a blast.

Marriott Riverside at the Convention Center – Menu with Prices – 3400 Market Street, Riverside

I stayed here for 5 days for a business event. When I checked in, I was not given all of the information that I should have been, but I asked around and received what I needed. When I got to my room, there was a dirty used tissue at the side of one of the beds. The other bed had a used bottle cap next to it. I was rather disappointed in the housekeeping. . . The tub wouldn’t drain and the sink didn’t drain so I had to call and have those fixed. They were both fixed as I was out of the room. The cable TV stopped working and I had to call and have that fixed. They sent someone up immediately and he fixed it right away.. . There was a dance event going on, so my room was right next to a bunch of young girls who stayed up very late and were screaming and yelling and laughing. I tolerated it the first evening, but I had to call security twice the second night in order to get them to be quiet. The third night it was just as bad once again. They began to bang on the wall deliberately. I had asked for a quiet room. This was anything but quiet. I was rather disappointed. My room was also right across the exercise facility so that was noisy.. . When I stay here again, I will make sure to ask if my room is on a quiet floor.. . The food here was rather expensive and didn’t offer much selection. They had a piano in the lobby, and I wanted to play it, but it had a sign asking people not to. I had to wonder, then why is it there?. . Overall, still a good place to stay. Good outdoor pool. One of the elevators was not working, and the beds weren’t very comfortable, but not my best experience staying at a Marriott.

The Atlantic Nightspot – Menu with Prices – 15 N Main St, Gainesville

***goth night***I just have to say that the ‘goth’ night was lacking in quality club music. The DJ claims to have tons of music but yet played 3 sisters of Mercy songs, 2 Christian death (one was followed by the Smiths… Who does that??!!) And 3 depeche mode songs in less than 2 hours. Now I must also mention the 3 second pause between every single song that leaves the people standing there looking confused and hopeful that something better would play next. Does the equipment he use lack a fade in and out button? I understand this is a once in a while type night therefore it can’t compare to other goth clubs within a 2 hour driving radius, but I heard better goth/industrial music on 80s night the previous week. For those who really truly love the music, there should be a wider variety of music in the DJs set. We like to go out and dance, not breathe in the fog and stare at the lights…***80s night***Music variety was all over the place. Pixies, The cure, wham, Whitney Huston, ah-ha, nitzer ebb, the Ramones… It got about every type of 80s except the hair bands. It gave people time to rest when the crappy 80s muzak came on (although you’d have to wait at least 5 songs to get back to the fun stuff) but the floor was pretty busy with people dancing. I would go back to this night but if I missed it, I wouldn’t be heartbroken. I guess through the years of going to clubs, I’ve gotten very spoiled and maybe in just to picky.

The Buzz Hookah – Menu with Prices – 8222 E 103rd St, Tulsa

The place ITSELF isn’t bad. It could be a little more cozy, but the overall atmosphere was pretty chill. The thing that kinda ruined the experience was the Dj. I don’t know if they always use him, or if it was just a one night thing or what, but the music played when I was there was pretty much only early to mid 2000s top 40 hits. Ice Cream Paint Job and Buy You A Drank, REALLY? The music played there made it uncomfortable to be there, period. If the music was more current and relatable, it could be a nice place. Step up the music game, and I’d probably come back to chill

Complexe Sky – Menu with Prices – 1478 St Catherine St E, Montreal

Woah. This place is absolutely huge. If your group cant decide on a music type for the night just come here. They have different floors and different rooms with all types of music! The first floor is a very large open space with same tables and a full bar. I was not down here very long as they were playing salsa music. Its just not something I am really a of or know much about. there were not many people down here. If you venture up the next flight there are 2 rooms on this floor. The one to the right was playing a mix of hip hop and pop. This would be the room with red lights. The room to the left (blue) was playing mixed top 40 which was pretty decent. If you venture up to the top floor, this is were you will find the massively long wait for coat check. like a super long wait. There is also a huge dance floor which was playing EDM/house. The music up here was great but there were only 3 people up here which made it feel awkward which is why I spent my time on the middle floor. I really did have a fun time here. The coast check takes a really long time and the middle floors get busy and hot! There is TONS of security which made me fell a little uncomfortable but I did not have any issues. The drinks were very cheap 3.00 for mixed drinks! cant go wrong there! I was also told this was a gay club. I went with my partner and did not feel out of place but, it di not seem like your normal gay club. I think its more of a everybody is welcome type of place.

Rock An Rye – Menu with Prices – 222 Atwells Ave, Providence

I like to go out, but you can’t go nuts every night – well I guess you can, but I don’t like to. Rock & Rye is the perfect in between low key brew night and a rowdy bar or a club, which is great when you can’t decide on a location in a group text. Rock & Rye is on Federal Hill, across from Bank of America (if you hit the fountain you have gone too far), so parking is a pain in the arse…but ever since Providence put stupid parking meters all over the city, parking anywhere is now an unnecessary, infuriating task so why not here. The ambiance of this place is nice. Low, red lighting, nice décor, good music, and board games (including a giant Jenga). Some people play at their tables, other don’t. It’s available but not at all forced on you. Sometimes it’s a fun thing to do in groups, or just something to keep you busy. You can dance, and people do late at night but they don’t have a dance floor. Bartenders are fast and wicked nice. Even when it’s busy they haul ass and get to you pretty quickly. There is some seating and I have never had a problem grabbing a table. It’s one of my go to’s. We usually go and get a Slice across the street at Sicilia’s afterwards (open ’till 2).
