The food isn’t awful. The salad was fresh, the beef Shawarma has a nice taste and my favorite is the garlic sauce. The meat was not nearly tender or flavorful enough and especially for the price. I usually come in for a salad since I am trying to avoid consuming too many carbs. I still want my protein. For $11, and it’s 90% salad and 10% meat. For $11 I’d expect to have more protein. I have gotten the sandwich for $9 and they put more meat in that. Which I don’t understand…. but I only come back because it’s close to my house and the only Mediterranean spot next to me. So I settle for the convenience. I would’ve probably been giving this place more of a 3 star rating except service sucks and everybody looks miserable while doing their job , on top of being so shiest with my protein ! But I will say their garlic sauce is amazing

Yamas Mediterranean Street Food – Menu with Prices – 624 W 4th St, Winston-Salem

(4.75 stars) Courtesy of the Michael family (Mama Zoe Michael’s, Waldo’s Wings, CinCin Buger Bar), the Chipotlefication of Mediterranean has arrived in Winston-Salem. It is, thankfully, far more than just a gimmick, offering quality ingredients and bold flavors to complement the expected versatility. Yamas’ approach is simple: start with a prefab favorite (such as a gyro or a falafel salad) or build a pita wrap, salad, grain bowl, or half salad/half grain bowl to your liking. Should you go the latter route, plenty of possibilities await. You can add up to three spreads (including a white chocolate babaganoush), a protein (there are both meat and vegetarian options), toppings (everything from feta to fries to marinated vegetables), and a sauce. Mild or spicy, vegan or meaty, it’s all fair game, and it’s all (unless you upgrade your protein to lamb for $3 more) only $8.99. For my first time out, I went the half salad/half grain bowl route, starting with arugula and freekeh wheat and topped with hummus, babaganoush, tzaiki, gyro meat, tomato cucumber salad, feta, and toum garlic cream (!). The garlic cream was rather strong and something I might think twice about repeating, but everything else was delicious. The white chocolate babaganoush added a touch of sweetness while the fresh vegetables balanced the saltier spreads and protein. The portion was plentiful as well, and it was prepared promptly by patient counter staff who made ordering easy. Though Yamas can get a bit loud when busy, it is absolutely worth braving a line (it will move quickly) and hunting for a table (or a spot at a long communal table). Tasty and flexible, the restaurant presents a winning concept that will hopefully endure.

PokeBowl Cafe – Menu with Prices – 12001 S Cleveland Ave Ste 4, Fort Myers

Being from Ca, I was in search of a poke bowl in Florida. Actually surprised I found one. I’m biased to mine, that is why I rated it 3. However, I drove 1 hour to find it. Glad to know they have this food in other places. (If you have nothing to compare these to, you will be fine. I’m surrounded by Asian food choices and know what I like) This a cute little spot off the road and you will miss it completely if you don’t gps the address or know what to look for. Nice to see how other places do their bowl. Everything is clean and organized on the board with steps 1-4 what to do. Choose your base (rice) salad, protein, toppings etc. There is a whole bar to choose from with sauces and toppings. I’m glad to know they have veggie options like tofu for protein. I chose to do my base with brown rice with soy sauce on top, mixed greens, edamame, cucumber, carrot, avocado, tofu, crunchy noodles, seaweed salad topped with House sauce. It was good, just a bit too garlicky for my taste. I don’t like garlic. Might have been the House dressing I chose, not sure. A sweeter sauce may have been better for me. There are several options to choose from. Go support your local mom and pop. Thanks for the good service.

Grill Kabob – Menu with Prices – 27653 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita

This is home made food, not restaurant quality. It makes sense why it’s cheaper than its competitions. We ordered the gyro and shawarma, neither tasted like what it’s supposed to be. It felt like the meats were cooked in an oven at home. They were not cooked in a rotisserie spit like traditional shawarma and gyros are. I could have made these at home myself. When we order out from a place, we expect restaurant quality. Not to mention the portion of the protein is very meager The rice that came with the gyro and shawarma were neither greek or arabic rice, instead they tasted like South Asian polao, usually cooked in a Pakistani/Bengali/Indian home. The owner of this food establishment must be South Asian who thinks they can cook Greek/Arab/Persian. I’m sorry they cannot. Finally, the garlic sauce was NOWHERE near skordalia (greek garlic sauce) or thoum (lebanese garlic sauce). Instead it tasted like mayo with a lot of garlic juice in it. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because it was cheap and fresh. But it is definitely not restaurant quality food. If you are looking for mediterranean – greek/arab food cooked by someone most likely south asian and clueless about such cuisines, this is it.

Chickpeas Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 700 N 10th St, Sacramento

First time here and we got the falafel pita. The falafel itself was really good, crunchy on the outside moist and parsley green on the inside. Which paired nicely in the pita pocket with delicious humus cucumber and tomato. However I was disappointed that they ran out of tzatziki sauce, it’s part of the Mediterranean food, the tahini sauce was a good replacement but it was still not tzatziki sauce. I also tried 3 of their self-serve salads the garbanzo was my favorite! The tabbouleh salad and carrot salad were good but seemed to lack salt, tasted very lite in flavor. What I absolutely appreciated is getting to put my own toppings in my pita pocket. The Mediterranean pickles are on point, so are the seasoned onions (only foodies will understand) This place is totally worth checking out

STONEFIRE Grill – Menu with Prices – 10680 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

Just left and the girls that helped me were incredibly rude. First I ordered a Caesar salad with my dinner order and they called to ask what type of protein I wanted. I didn’t order any protein on it but when I got there the girl that helped me said “ok so you didn’t indicate which protein you wanted on your salad because it says here on the receipt that you DID want extra meat on the salad so you wanted it. ” I don’t know why anyone would order a Caesar salad with “extra meat” but it said it on the receipt for some reason so I told her to put chicken on it. She responded “ok they’re going to make it right now.” Cool, whatever. The second girl brought the rest of my order up and said “oh they took the ticket attached so I can’t check it but it looks like we have…” then proceeds to look at the food in the bag and do her best guess as to what it “looks like.” Another associate comes by with the first girl and they review the receipt on the computer and come to find out that I didn’t order “extra meat” on my Caesar salad. The first girl then comes up and says “oh sorry I don’t know what happened that added the extra meat. ” so she gave me my order and before I walk away I ask for the receipt that was attached and the second girl goes “well they email you your receipt so you should have it.” The reason I asked is because nobody checked my order according to my receipt to make sure I got everything; I didn’t trust the second girl’s guessing game. I then replied “well I usually get it with my order” because I actually do and the second girl responds “well I don’t know why you would need it because they email it to you.” I told her “I wanted it to check my order since you didn’t and they usually do give it to me but whatever.” I don’t know what’s up with the attitude from the staff and the “extra meat” at this place but I really can’t stand poor customer service. Its not that hard to give someone a piece of paper that you’re likely not going to use. They’re usually pretty good at checking my order with the receipt but today they decided giving me attitude and guessing what I might’ve ordered would suffice.

Falafel Express – Menu with Prices – 320 E Bullard Ave, Fresno

Another great option to satisfy your crave for Mediterranean food. I came here on a whim and ordered a couple of chicken kebab plates to-go for the wife and I. Let me begin with the location: For first timers, getting is tricky because the restaurant is located on the only side street between Fresno Street and Freeway 41 in an area filled with medical offices. Great for the employees in the are but if you’re on a rush and miss the right hand turn, this is a section of Bullard avenue that isn’t so driver friendly so you might have to make two u-turns to try again. Stay in the right lane on Bullard and make the 1st right after Fresno! The restaurant looks like it’s run by family and is small. Nothing fancy by any means. The person who took my order looked like a teenager and I assumed he was probably the son of someone working in the back kitchen or office. He was more interested in the TV than taking my order and not very friendly. Not a big deal, I was kind of in a hurry and just wanted to get my food and run. The getting my food part took a lot longer than I expected. The wait felt like it was 20 plus minutes, I wasn’t watching the click and perception of time can get distorted when one is pressed for time and impatient. So to give them the benefit of the doubt, it might not have taken 20 minutes but it wasn’t fast by any reasonable estimation and I was the only customer for the duration of my wait. The food came well packed and cost 20 bucks for both plates which included pilaf, bread, and salad. The food: I thought the chicken was seasoned and cooked well. On top of that, it wasn’t overly dry as I’ve experienced a few times eating Mediterranean food. The garlic sauce was awesome! I absolutely love garlic sauce, but not all of it. Their garlic sauce was thick and bursting with a strong garlic flavor that I’ve come to live about this food. The rice pilaf was on point, cooked and seasoned just right. The salad was less than stellar mostly due to being a little dry and lacking the punch of Mediterranean flavors and consistency of salads served in restaurants just like this one. Not too big of a deal to me but my wife wouldn’t let me forget it for a day or two. Overall legit Mediterranean restaurant. Not perfect but still pretty damn good in my opinion and worth another visit should the craving overcome me again.

Di Lisio’s Italian Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 301 Brookstown Ave, Winston-Salem

I don’t live in Winston anymore, but just had to return to this spot even if I could only order it as take out (not because they didn’t have seating, but I didn’t have time to dine in). I thought I’d update my review to reflect my takeout experience. I ordered the gnocchi sorrento, which is gnocchi in meat sauce topped with mozzarella cheese. It came with a side salad (I got house with vinaigrette) and bread. I was a little bummed I didn’t get any of the delicious olive oil dip for the bread. I also ordered bruschetta, which they neatly packaged all the bruschetta topping in separate containers so that I didn’t go home to soggy bruschetta bread. The gnocchi was so delicious, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Their salad and house dressing is always amazing. I can’t get over all the great ingredients in the salad, such as olives and radish. Bruschetta was heavenly and perfectly seasoned as well… it came with a lot of delicious Parmesan to top it with! I just love this charming restaurant so much. Apparently they will be closing soon for renovations, and I’m confident things will only go up from there for Di Lisio’s. Try to get your fix in before they close!

House of Hummus Mediterranean Cafe Menu with Prices 5950 North Point Pkwy #127, Alpharetta

I randomly searched for “mediterranean restaurant” around my office, and this place populated first with the highest rating. I went over for lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. First, the platter portion is really good. I wanted to get full, so I ordered a lentil soup as well without knowing what the portion will be. I received french fries, a little bit of salad, pita bread, rice, and my choice of meat. The chicken shawarma had enough chicken, but the gyro platter had much more meat. Next time, I am going to get gyro for more meat. Chicken shawarma was savory and great and the fries were seasoned fries. They were not some blend fries, and I loved the fact that they were seasoned. The only downside might be the chicken was a little dry. I don’t know if people have tried this before, but when I eat rice at Mediterranean restaurants, eating it with soup is a great combination. So, I mixed rice with my lentil soup, and the combination was amazing here. Separately, the lentil soup was evenly flavored and savory. There are other great side options, and I am kind of excited to try other food at this restaurant. If you are in the area and want some really good and quick Mediterranean food, check out House of Hummus.

Al Bacha Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 819 E Denny Way, Seattle

Really solid, affordable option for Mediterranean food on Capitol Hill. As an added bonus for night owls, they’re open until the wee hours of the morning, which feels downright criminal in Seattle (don’t get me wrong; I’m really glad rare places like this exist for when I’m hungry at 11 PM). This isn’t the fanciest restaurant on the block, so the decor and ambience are both pretty bare bones. The menu contains your standard Mediterranean staples, consisting mostly of variations of falafel and shawarma in wrap or plate form, as well as gyros. I usually order takeout via Grubhub since I live within spitting distance, and I’ve found it to be a very painless experience. The food is always warm and fresh when I get it, which is great. Portions are generous, with healthy amounts of protein and salad in them. I overall find the food here very satisfying and perfect for quick, well-priced, reasonably healthy, filling meals. It isn’t the best Mediterranean food in the city (go to Petra for that), but it’s A-OK for the niche it fills.

The Beestro – Menu with Prices – 66 E San Francisco St Suite 21, Santa Fe

A fast-casual take on Mediterranean in Santa Fe’s Plaza district. You choose whether you want a stuffed pita sandwich, a rice plate, or a salad; you choose a protein such as lamb gyro meat or chicken shawarma; and then load up on all the freebies such as pickled beet, radish, cucumber-tomato salad, and other Mediterranean toppings and garnishes. I went with a pita stuffed with hummus, beef shawarma, with lettuce, cucumber-tomato, pickled veggies, radish, and tzatziki sauce. A nice touch are “Belgian Fries” that you can get with your meal with your drink; just make sure to mention you want them at the beginning of your order so they can cook them while they make your entree. After having adjective-Mexican cuisine throughout the week, having some tasty and quality shawarma was a welcome palate cleanser! It was a mess spilling out of the pita as I ate it, but it just shows they’ll entertain my desire to put a little bit of everything in my meals. The fries were cut and fried fresh, a welcome indulgence that you can easily split. Definitely one of the better pita sandwiches I had, if not the best, and my main detraction is the cost. It was spendy for a lunch, but given the location and options around it, it may actually be a value. And again, I can’t fault the ingredient quality: no chewy gristle or brownish greens in my dish. The 20 oz. drink is for iced tea or lemonade, and being a trash person, I was hoping to get something (more) caffeinated and carbonated. But that’s my failing, and it WAS a good Arnold Palmer I mixed for myself…

Hannah?s kitchen Menu with Prices 4822 NW 2nd Ave, Boca Raton

This place is REALLY GOOD! Food: I picked up chicken shawarma with triple the chicken to hit that high protein level! I skipped the bases of lettuce or rice and went with a plain base of hummus. I grabbed a cucumber pickles, seasoned onions, tomato & cucumber salad, tabbouleh, grilled veggies, jalapenos, and parsley along with some garlic sauce decorated on top. At first bite, I could tell this was going to be a smash hit in my book! The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned well! The hummus was delicious, the veggies were absolutely a knockout! I cleared the entire plate in what felt like 5 minutes! Absolutely incredible in every single way, healthy, delicious, perfection! (5 of 5) Service: A sweet lady took my order and captured everything perfectly. You order at the counter and sit down, they bring it all out for you and even offer up some bread! (5 of 5) Price: Sooooooo cheap! Literally $14 for triple my meat and plenty of veggies! The value here can’t be understated as this is good food for such a cheap price! Highly recommend and when I came in there weren’t too many people there! Once everyone figures this place out they will be in for a very happy surprise if you are a fan of Mediterranean!

The Southern Salad Menu with Prices 1008 Broad St, Augusta

Finally got to try The Southern Salad and I can’t believe it took me so long, this place is amazing! Ingredients were super fresh and the variety was endless. I ended up getting the Mediterranean grain bowl and my girlfriend got here Caesar Salad; didn’t realize until later that you could get protein options added of you wanted. Also had a good selection of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Salads are priced higher than what you’re used to, but the price reflects the quality you get. Can’t wait to come back and start working through the full menu!
