I like coming to this place because the chicken is good & I absolutely love the jalapeno poppers. I’ve gone at least 3 times and had good service. However I was there less than a week ago with my son & my father & though the food was good one of girls that works there was refilling the drink cooler and had her phone out blasting rap music really loud. Its a small restaurant & I couldn’t wait for her to be done so she would go back behind the counter and turn the music down. Normally I wouldn’t care but it was really loud and not something I let my young son listen to so it was upsetting that there was no consideration for the customers. This restaurant located in Downtown Dayton on 3rd street has a lot of potential to be a great place to eat & the other staff were very friendly. I just wish that would extend to all the employees towards making the dining experience pleasant. My son was pretty upset with the whole experience this last time and though he loves to go here for shrimp & fish I don’t know if I would take him back again.

The Protein Source Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 7060 South Durango Drive, #115, Las Vegas

As far as food goes, I have no complaints. Food has been tasty so far. I’ve enjoyed the protein shakes (Signature is my favorite.) Recommendations: Female employee at the counter looked like she didn’t want to be there. It makes a big difference to look approachable. Body language is speaking loudly when customers come in. Speaking of loud, the employees behind the counter were talking on top of each other as if they were screaming. One cause could be the LOUD club music blasting on the loud speakers in this small space. Please turn down that music or change music selection. This has been consistent every time I’ve been there. Customers are there for a healthy meal. Meanwhile, the loud music is grating on the nerves which defeats the purpose. This will drive people away quickly.

Lit Cigar Lounge – Menu with Prices – 258 Dauphin St, Mobile

Lit is located in downtown Mobile, in the midst of it all, and possess a great, super friendly staff. The man who brought us into the humidor was knowledgeable of cigars and helped guide us through their selection. The hip hop music that night was a bit loud, but the people in there were enjoying it and we went and sat at one of the tables outside to enjoy our cigars and beers. The staff kept coming out to check on us and engage in conversation. One gentleman from New Orleans who worked there talked to us at length about the differences between the two cities and gave us insight between the two. I would return, gladly, but I would enter knowing the environment and music volume. They seem to offer nightly specials, a welcome addition.

Mariscos Ixtapa – Menu with Prices – 4093 University Ave, Riverside

I had fried tilapia and a michelada. The food was good and came out on time, as did the drink. No complaints about the kitchen staff. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. The service, however, was sub-par and not what I expected. It was Friday, so they had a live band. That is a big draw and the music is nice. We just weren’t expecting it to be so loud. We came in with a 1 year old baby and were seated at a booth directly in front of the speakers before we realized a band was going to play. We received our drinks and put a food order in when they started playing. The volume out of the speakers was so loud that you could not speak without shouting. And the volume could not have been good for the baby. I brought it up to the waitress, eventually, that “we weren’t expecting it to be this loud when we sat down”, but she just stared at my like I was an idiot, walked away and did nothing about it. When we finished our food, the plates sat there empty for about ten minutes. Our server made eye contact with me three times before she came over so we could be bussed and given our check. With the check, came the manager. I shared with him exactly what I said to the server and he, at first, thought we just didn’t like the music, saying “people request this type of music”. I repeated “we didn’t expect to be seated in front of the loud speaker with a baby” and that it was “too loud for his ears”. He only said sorry and that was the end of his complaint resolution. I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years in all positions of the restaurant. Even at small places I worked at, our complaint resolution was never just a half-hearted apology with an excuse, but offered incentive to return through problem solving (offering to move us earlier or turning the volume of the speaker down just a bit so that we might stay for another drink or a dessert) or a small monetary incentive to come back (offering a discount). Based off of my experience and my unbiased first impression of the restaurant, their servers and managers are not skilled at complaint resolution or problem solving. They need more consideration and overall desire for encouraging repeat business.

Moe’s Southwest Grill – Menu with Prices – 161 Granby St, Norfolk

“Welcome to Moe’s!” How did we ever survive the days before popular, chain, Tex-Mex restaurants came to town? It’s a mysterious matter that we may never know the answer too (Taco Bell, you’re not included here.) Well, I’m glad we get the perks of Chipotle, Qdoba, and Moe’s in our area – and to those who don’t, may you one day know the greatness that is cheap, Tex-Mex. Moe’s definitely takes the number one spot when it comes to fresh, not-quite-authentic, Mexican takeout. This new location is such a treat to Downtown Norfolk. Since everyone was so excited about going once it opened, I figured I’d jump on the bandwagon too (my office is LITERALLY directly across the street.) So, it was packed when we visited, as is all of Downtown Norfolk when a new restaurant opens. Upon entering, we were greeted with the signature “Welcome to Moe’s.” The location has a pretty industrial ambiance, but that’s more than likely due to the recent construction. I ordered the veggie nachos and the prep team was awesome and thorough. It was a little difficult making our way through the line though with all the busyness, loud chatter, and loud music – more than a little overwhelming but again, that’s the con of being a new restaurant Downtown. My party and I decided to eat upstairs and it was cool despite the obvious insulation in plain sight that was a little grotesque. But again, new construction. Overall, the food was fresh, really fresh and delicious. I will return again to see if there’s more progress with the building and to try them after a few weeks (when it’s less busy). Hopefully the quality and service doesn’t decline after the grand opening season, like so many restaurants do.

Bahia Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1476 W Buckingham Rd, Garland

Overall our experience was a mixed bag. We came here on a Saturday evening for a late dinner and drinks. We made reservations for six and when we arrived I don’t think they had any idea who we were. They initially seated us in a very cramped table that only fit four, but minutes later the hostess found us another table were we were actually able to all sit down. The restaurant was packed and very loud. So one of the main attractions to this restaurant was the live music. When we arrived there was a DJ playing. The music here is extremely loud and it makes it very difficult to speak to the waiters or to anyone else on your table. The band did come in around 11pm and they played a variety of music including salsa and merengue. Overall the music was good throughout the whole evening. They have a large open area for dancing and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. For dinner I had a mixed fajita plate and my wife had the vuela a la vida coctel. The food is just okay, but taking the price into consideration makes it a good deal. The majority of their plates are lower priced than most restaurants with a similar menu. Other than the stale chips and salsa the rest of the meal was fine. We did order a couple of buckets of beer and mixed drinks throughout the night. The mixed drinks were not a hit, all the ladies did not finish their drinks. No complaints on the buckets of beer, I think they sell at $19 for six which is not a bad price. The service was also hit or miss. The waitress took forever on the mixed drinks but had our buckets of beer delivered to our table quickly. As mentioned before it’s difficult to hear due to the music so we were constantly repeating orders. The food came out quickly with no issues. Overall I recommend this place if you are looking for a cheap dining option and/or looking for some live music where your not going to spend a ton. There is definite room for improvement throughout but for the price you can’t complain too much.

Blue Sky Hookah Lounge – BYOB – Menu with Prices – 9001 Louetta Rd #9003, Spring

My experience at this lounge was a bit awkward. There was actually a small crowd in both inside and outside seating for a Tuesday night. The prices are slightly higher on the actual menu than what’s on their Yelp page. The strangest thing of all was that there was no music or anything playing so all that is heard is the conversations of the other customers. I noticed previous yelp reviews complained of how loud was being played so the owners probably went the opposite direction and turned off any music and resorted to awkward silence. The melon hookah flavor tasted great but this was probably a “try this place once just to check it out” experience.

Rio Bravo Restaurant Seafood – Menu with Prices – 4300 Town Center Dr Suite 1980, Fort Worth

My dish was good, but most of what my family ordered was great. Big plates, good presentation and good taste. Service was good too. What I couldn’t stand about the place is the loud music. It’s a restaurant/bar and my visit was on a Wednesday afternoon, but the music was like a Friday night. We had a big table celebrating a birthday with my family but the music was so loud the waitress had trouble hearing us and of course we couldn’t even talk. I had to talk to someone and they finally lowered the volume. Other than that, I recommend the place.

LAS ISLAS EN PONCHOS – Menu with Prices – 4250 E 4th Plain Blvd, Vancouver

Been here a couple times. But today January 8, 2018 was the worst experience. In fact I did not even get that far. I was sat down by a waitress which I could barely here over the loud gangster rap music. I come here because it’s seafood Mexican food. I would assume there would be some sort of Mexican music playing in the background. Yes it was inappropriate loud and yes there was plenty of cussing in the song. Needless to say I would not bring my family here with my kids with that type of music playing it just kills the whole vibe you’re supposed to get from a place like this. Needless to say I probably won’t be back for a while if at all. If there was somebody in charge or a manager I suggest the look over there playlist first.

Kitchen Downtown – Menu with Prices – 234 5th Ave N, Nashville

This newer gem has not yet received nearly as much praise as it deserves. It’s located in a pocket spot that is easily overlooked by some of its well-known restaurant neighbors. But I am here to tell you this is NOT a place to be passed up! My experience has been limited to brunch time only, but that’s the best time, right!? As someone who is always looking for new things to try, Kitchen Downtown is a great place for a fellow foodie like myself. I tried the brisket hash, and I don’t know about you, but where I come from this is not a common dish, but it surely ought to be! The brisket was incredibly tender and the potatoes were seasoned nicely. As a whole it was bursting with flavor! The staff was also quite lovely. The woman working the front taking orders was very enthusiastic and helpful. The cooks were great at accommodating customers by offering to make sauces that catered to people’s specific tastes. All in all, my experience at Kitchen Downtown is one that will surely keep me coming back.

National Bakery – Menu with Prices – 520 S Stanton St, El Paso

Come here for authentic Mexican pastries and bread. The bread and pastries are made daily and baked fresh with love and care for its customers. Friendly service and located in downtown El Paso. You might even see a game of dominos going on with some of the regular customers. Great coffee and cold drinks are also available! Simply an awesome destination!

The Pony Inn – Menu with Prices – 1638 W Belmont Ave, Chicago

A sports bar in the whole sense of the word; small enough to feel intimate, but large enough to accommodate a large groups of friends. With 22 tv’s screens there is no blind spot for sport watching. The place has a narrow front giving the appearance to be smaller than it is, but it is long to the rear. There are a few tables at the front, that gives the appearance of being at a patio with the opening store front windows. The long bar covers about half the length of the place, seating over 20 customers while providing enough space for the number of bartenders the place requires. On the opposite wall from the bar is a row of booths, each for 4  ppl per table (or 6 If you must). At the rear is a table for 8 or 10 customers and a few more booths I stopped in on the Kentucky derby day. They were having a special offering unlimited, selected drinks and food for 3 hours for a set price. A good deal, and for heavy drinkers, a great deal. A DJ played music constantly, alternating with  a one person live act, playing guitar, and singing with pre recording music. The food is decent for sport bar, and I have no complaints about the service; it was friendly and cordial. Although, a little understaffed for the day. About my only complaint, and this is a matter of taste, is that the music was too loud; In a narrow space, loud music and people screaming trying to hold a conversation, this is literally a place where you can not hear yourself think.

Peixoto Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 11 W Boston St Suit #6, Chandler

TL;DR: Playlist was fire 5/5. I normally don’t venture to coffee shops much but I decided to come out of my cage and check this place out. Low key coffee spot with a lot of seating and outlets available. I’m not a coffee aficionado but I enjoyed my latte and I really liked the atmosphere. It was a great environment to whip out a laptop and focus or relax. After about an hour I was doing just fine. The music selection was very fitting for a coffee shop. Lots of Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and the greatest song of all time – Mr. Brightside – came on while I was there. Seemed like they had it on the same playlist I normally listen to. The pastries looked good, too, although I just had a cookie sandwich (buckeye cookie). They also had macarons, scones, and gelato. Parking is all street parking in the downtown Chandler area. There was a lot of construction going on when I went, so parking looked difficult, but I didn’t drive so I did not have to worry about it. However, it seemed like there was a lot available in the area. Besides, that’s just the price you pay to have a recently thriving downtown area with plentiful shops, restaurants, and cafes.
