Great little restaurant tucked in between the FBO and the flight school! The friendly staff always take your order with a smile, and the food is delicious. The interior is decorated in classic 50’s/60’s chrome diner style, with four tables on an airside patio (perfect for plane watching). They even have a small shop selling t-shirts, headsets, oil, etc. Of the 12 entrees, the Bellanca (Cheeseburger) is pretty good but the Robin’s Nest (Classic Cuban) is on point! For dessert, grab a cup, cone, or bowl of Hershey’s Ice Cream in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and flavor of the month. They also serve sundaes, milkshakes, and floats (you choose from among a variety of Coca-Cola and Dominion sodas). All that, and free popcorn to boot! I’ve lived in Fredericksburg my whole life, and the Robin’s Nest is the finishing touch to Shannon Airport’s comeback!

Green Man Twist – Menu with Prices – 770 E McMillan St, Cincinnati

Green Man Twist is nice little stop for soft serve ice cream in Walnut Hills neighborhood, right of McMillan – you can’t miss the trailer its bright green & blue, but if you’re driving too fast, could pass it right up, just turn on the side street, park and walk up to the trailer. They have your standard vanilla, chocolate, twist plus a special flavor which changes, it was strawberry during my visit. I’m a sucker for just good old chocolate, so that was my selection a small chocolate twist in a cake cone. Others in line before me ordered sundaes, soft serve in cup and an icee. The team was very friendly & took care of several orders in minutes. Stop by the next time you’re in the area for a delicious ice cold treat!

Buzzed Bull Creamery – Wilmington, NC – Menu with Prices – 3224 N College Rd Suite B, Wilmington

Tried this new dessert franchise on their official opening day. They offer ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and milkshakes, which are all made with liquid nitrogen and served in a cup or bowl. You have an option of non-alcoholic or adding some alcohol for an additional price (21yrs+). This dessert place is located inside Roll On In. They have signs of how to order on their menu board. You can either make your own ice cream or choose one of their specialty ice creams/milkshakes. The specialties outlined in a box are the most popular/favorites. Essentially, first pick your flavor, then size, either ice cream/yogurt/sorbet, alcohol, and finally mix-ins or toppings. One of the staff said a small size cup would equate to about one beer. I ordered a small Death by Chocolate ($5.39), which was one of the best ice creams I have ever had. The ice cream was wonderfully thick and sweet. The base is your usual cream, milk, and sugar with the liquid nitrogen. Then it’s mixed with chocolate chips and laid on top of small pieces of chocolate brownies. To finish it off, it’s drizzled with a generous amount of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Death by Chocolate really is chocolate heaven and hit the spot oh so right. It was cool to watch the ice cream being made. It took a few minutes for it to come together, but wasn’t that long. You could grab a meal at Roll On In, then hit this spot for dessert right after, all in the same building.

Lock & Dam Dog Shop – Menu with Prices – 7331 Butler St, Pittsburgh

We came here on a Sunday because it was so freaking hot that we needed ice cream stat. The Lock and Dam had a sign out that said ice cream only which was fine since all that we wanted was ice cream. So my review really has nothing to do with anything else other than their ice cream. The first thing that I will say is that the staff was pretty quick at getting people their orders. There was a slight line when we got there and we got served very fast compared to some other ice cream places that I’ve been to. The Lock and Dam now has the option for an orange twist along with their vanilla, chocolate, and chocolate twist cones. They also have concrete’s which are blizzard like ice cream desserts sundaes and other ice cream choices. I was at first looking at the vanilla twist with some nut toppings but got swayed into getting the orange and vanilla twist. I will have to stay that their sizes are pretty large. Even when you get a medium it looks like a large, it feels like a large, and part of it is still in my freezer because the medium was a large for me. My partner thought that the orange and vanilla twist tasted exactly like a push-up. But I thought that both the flavors kind of tasted like vanilla. The orange didn’t have that orange twist punch that I am used to. The orange flavor was just a little too faint for me. But the vanilla was very good. This shop is just down the street from us so we will probably come again. I look forward to just trying the vanilla cone and some of those concrete’s. Reese’s cup is my favorite and I saw that on the menu. I’m going to give this place four stars until I go back to try more things on the menu.

Antney’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1316 Poplar St, Pittsburgh

Here in Western PA we have the privilege of occasionally experiencing unseasonably hot (and cold) weather through the month of October. A couple weeks ago, we had a stretch of hot days that were perfect days for ice cream. I’m a year round ice cream eater, but when it’s hot there’s no better treat than a big, delicious waffle cone. My boyfriend and I live in rather close proximity to Antney’s and have driven past it saying, “We have to stop there!” more times than I can count. Finally the day came, and it was so good that I’m upset we waited so long. My favorite flavor of ice cream changes with the wind, but the strawberry eclair flavor with cake pieces was really what I was into during this particular visit. It was the perfect combo of strawberry and vanilla and had a ton of big cake pieces and real strawberries in it. Yum! My boyfriend opted for the birthday cake with golden Oreos in it in a waffle bowl, and his was equally tasty. You can’t make a bad choice here, and they do let you test samples if there’s a flavor you’re curious about. I’m not sure when Antney’s closes for the season, but I wish it was open year round. If they aren’t already closed, I certainly wouldn’t be upset at stopping by for another cone before next season comes!

Gator Bob’s Trading Post – Menu with Prices – 161 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine

We came here to Gator Bob’s Trading Post to cool down from the summer heat with some ice cream. This location was the only place we found for ice cream that wasn’t in the busy part of town. Gator Bob’s served Hershey’s ice cream which included the following flavors: Mint Chocolate Moose Tracks, Peanut Butter Cup, Unicorn, Muddy Sneakers, Strawberry Cheesecake, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Key Lime Pie. It would’ve been nice if they had more of a variety but we were ok with it. I had a scoop of the Mint Chocolate Moose Tracks which was Mint ice cream with brownie bites and chocolate caramel cups. It was really delicious especially with the brownie bites. I also had a scoop of the Unicorn ice cream which was a super sweet ice cream with sour/sweet candies. This ice cream was REALLY sweet, maybe a bit too sweet for me. My Grandfather had the Muddy Sneakers which was a vanilla and peanut butter ice cream with chocolate candies. He really enjoyed it and devoured the whole cone without a word. And lastly, my uncle had the Strawberry Cheesecake which he loved very much. Overall, I would probably come back to Gator Bob’s for ice cream.

Urban Churn – Menu with Prices – 1004 N 3rd St, Harrisburg

This is not cheap ice cream. It’s made with good things and awesome flavors. It is not made with fillers and garbage and artificial bits and pieces. This is the real deal. It’s worth every penny. We’ve been here a few times and it’s hard to recommend the specialty flavors because they change. So, I’ll start with the basics. The vanilla is a rich, creamy, mildly vanilla vanilla. Excellent flavor. Super smooth. The last time I was there, I ordered it as a cookie sandwich. It was $5 and the cookies paled in comparison to the ice cream. The cookies were hard, bland, and the chips were too small and hard. It was impossible to eat it without the ice cream squeezing out. Skip the cookies and order extra ice cream. That’s my official recommendation. As for the chocolate ice cream. People who know me know I hate almost all chocolate ice cream. HOWEVER. Not this one. The last time we were there, my son ordered three scoops of the chocolate and I had a taste. Actually, I had several tastes. ? It was really good. The same rich, smoothness of the vanilla with just enough chocolate flavor. $5 for three scoops and he couldn’t finish it (and he’s a 14-yr old who can eat an entire loaf of bread if I’m not looking). My daughter ordered the affogato (cold brew and ice cream). She was a traditionalist and chose the vanilla ice cream. My daughter loves cold brew. My daughter loves ice cream. Apparently, she’s not happy that I didn’t tell her about things like affogato dessert drinks years ago. She was hooked from the second it hit the table. Cold brew over their creamy vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream that is drizzled with honey. Worth every penny, every carb, and every calorie. All that bliss for $6. Her boyfriend had the root beer float. He liked it, but I think it was too sweet for him. My hubby ordered the smoked maple pumpkin which was a special flavor. It was fabulous. Seriously yummy. I had a bite – or two – or three – it was great. In a waffle cone. $5 for the two scoops with the homemade cone. I just checked their website. They currently have Maple Scrapple flavor and I feel I must get there before it’s gone. I love scrapple. I love ice cream. What’s not to like? Seriously – go there. In the summer, the line can get a little long and there is very limited seating. I didn’t know they had international style hot chocolate options so there’s a good reason to go there in the winter, too. Hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? Hell yeah!

Ice Cream Club – Menu with Prices – 3799 Guess Rd, Durham

So Ice Cream Club is in a building where you can also get Subway, Coffee, and Donuts. I have a feeling if this building would pick a theme and stick with it, things would be a lot better. Stoners must love this place to no end. I went in wanting a frozen latte like drink. When I saw the options of ice cream available I just ordered a milkshake. I got two flavors blended and overall i was pleased with my milkshake. It was a bit expensive (like $4+ for a small) but I guess with the milk, ice cream and perhaps other ingredients I didn’t see, it’s worth it. A couple in front of me were out celebrating something. I have no idea what celebration warrants a trip to the Ice Cream Club, but they were there celebrating anyway. They both got ice cream in a cup, even though he ordered it in a cone…they literally put it in a cup and put the cone on top of it. Very bizarre but easier to travel with I suppose. The staff there was nice and you could see they were working fast & hard to get orders made, but these things just take some time. At one point the Subway person came over to help the coffee/ice cream people because they were swamped. (I mean, c’mon, who is going to walk into a place and choose Subway over donuts & ice cream?) The teamwork there is apparent. Again, milkshakes and sundaes and stuff just take time to make. I’ll go back but I really wish this spot would pick and work at being good at one genre of food.

City Center Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 707 Mariners Row #106, Newport News

If I could give them 4.5 stars, I would. This was our first time here and they have a decent amount of flavors to choose from, nothing too exciting or unique, but the typical flavors most people would be looking for. I got chocolate, the toddler got vanilla (less mess and stains), and my husband got a strawberry with a waffle cone. The chocolate had a nice richness to it and the strawberry was soft and light. They also had a decent selection of toppings. I got sno-caps on mine and they went great with my ice cream. The prices were fair for a small mom and pop shop. They have to make money. We noticed lots of people going in and out of the shop while we were there, so it appears to be popular. I also enjoyed the root beer they sold there, which was a brand I didn’t recognize. I also appreciated the outdoor tables.

Gunther’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 2801 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento

Gunther’s was my first ice cream love when I moved to Sacramento. I was dazzled by the neon sign that lights up the exterior of the building with a cone being filled with a scoop of ice cream, and impressed by the longevity of this family owned ice cream shop. They have a case of ice cream treats from chocolate covered bananas, cherries, ice cream sandwiches, and even clown decorated ice cream cones. The shakes are divine. All made to order, and with the ice cream made on premises. If you’re a purist like I am, you’re there for the amazing ice cream! Gunther’s has been a family owned and operated creamery for over 60 years. The creamy delights range from basic flavors like chocolate, butter pecan, strawberry, to seasonal flavors that are sure to delight. I love that you can order either kiddie scoops, regular scoops, or a combo. The kiddie scoops are perfect if you’re just craving a smaller amount. The regular scoops are a tad larger, and I often mix my scoop sizes when I’m indulging in a couple of flavors. Scoops can be enjoyed in either a sugar cone, A classic Cone, waffle cone, or even in a bowl. I often will order my ice cream on a sugar cone and then asked for to be put in a cup so that if there isn’t room to sit and enjoy it there taking it with me is easier. My favorite flavors are traditionally the chocolate brownie, the mint chip, and they make a couple of different heavenly caramel ice cream flavors that depending on the season are available. Gunther’s is a great place to stop at any time of the day or evening. During the summer and warmer months of the year, it’s not uncommon to see a line out of the door and around the corner. Don’t let that deter you from enjoying premium ice cream! The line moves fairly quickly and when you get to the counter the customer service is superb. If you’re unsure of a flavor they are more than happy to let you sample then make a decision. Gunther’s is a Sacramento landmark, and definitely worth trying. I often feel like they are a hidden gem, and should be discovered, and rediscovered often.

The Barrel Of Fun Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 9421 Smyrna Pkwy, Louisville

First things first the lines are long! But they move pretty fast so dont let that deter you from trying this place. Went here for the first time tonight. Usually we go to dairy del but I was in the mood for something different. They offer soft serve in vanilla and chocolate or twist. Either a kids for 1.49 small or large which I believe is only about 50 cents difference. You can also get it dipped in chocolate. They have hand scooped icecream as well in a variety of tasty flavors. My son wanted to try a few so we got him a hand scooped banana split ($5.50) he chose the toasted coconut, chocolate and strawberry cheesecake icecreams. He loved every bite. I saw the hot fudge cake and was intrigued. Its $3.99 it’s a moist chocolate cake split in half with vanilla soft serve in the middle and then covered in rich hot fudge then topped with whipped cream!! Amazing for any chocolate lover. They also have a strawberry shortcake version. Overall my family and I cant wait to go back! Definately a must try

Emack & Bolio’s Menu with Prices 366 Delaware Ave, Albany

Oh, E+B. That was soooo good. Can I have another?? Woman wanted Ice Cream on a Saturday after a run. Always game for a cool treat after the torture of a 5k. So I did my usual. Put “Ice cream” into a yelp search, and up pops Emack and Bolio. I was like… who? Did some reading, looked at pictures, and decided this was where we were going. I do like some soft serve and froyo, especially if there’s alot of flavor selection, but I always look for a good hand packed regular ice cream also, and tend to err in that direction. In we walk. Smells like an ice cream shop. They have a chocolates case. Being on somewhat of a diet, I avoided it. I will partake one day, just not today. Nice selection of all different flavors too. It all sounded and looked very good. The selection of ice cream flavors was what you would expect. The old standbys and a mix of unique also. “Deep purple cow” and “Chunk ‘O Funk” for examples. She chose the vanilla bean speck with chocolate and peanut butter toppings. I went with cake batter with rainbow sprinkles. (Of course). Anybody who has read my reviews knows how I feel about rainbow sprinkles. I also went with a waffle cone bowl. With chocolate coating. And rainbow sprinkles. (See above). Not a fan of the cone so much. I always feel rushed to pound down the cone before it melts and ends up all over my hand and shirt. I would much rather get a bowl and take my time. Savor it at my own pace. She raved about her selection, and I am here to expound on mine. The cake batter ice cream was spectacular. Cake batter base with chunks of yellow and chocolate cake mixed in. So darn good, I am already thinking about going back again. Not overly sweet either. Very well done. And although I’m not a fan of waffle cone either, it was also spectacular. The whole combination just worked very very well. I’ll be back for more for sure. I gave you five stars because you deserve five stars. I was going to subtract one for the cost, but after some thought, I am willing to pay the extra to get a product that rings all the bells. And that’s exactly what this did. No conversation, just the two of us going “Mmmmm” and “Oh my”. For cost perspective: One single scoop coated waffle bowl with two toppings, and one double scoop coated waffle bowl with rainbow sprinkles ? It came to just over $13.00. That could be a bit much for some. As I said, I have no problem with it when the product matches the price.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Menu with Prices 800 Avalon Blvd, Alpharetta

Overall…just splendid!! Service: This place is small, but the staff is very efficient. They are quick to hand out samples and get your ice cream out to you. I mean? Why would they not be? This place can be packed especially during the summer and with the amount of foot traffic Avalon can get. The staff is used to it and they are ready for any rush. Food: delicious ice cream! Always something new to try out, but always stocked with the usuals. They have such unique flavors that you can’t find at any Baskin Robins or Brusters. Their ice cream is delicious and so light, that I never feel guilty after eating it. I recommend getting the Trio. Why? Well for $6 you get 3 half scoops and a large waffle cone chip. Why this and not just a cone? Well, I believe in optimizing what you pay for. For a cone, it’s $5 and you get one flavor. But with a Trio, you get to try 3 flavors for really only a $1 more. Sure, you don’t get to enjoy ice cream from a waffle cone, but it’s less of a mess and you get to try more flavors. The Trio was enough for both of us to share and not feel too full. 5/5 – because…I don’t always get ice cream, but when I do I always try to come to Jenni’s! I love this location because while I’m eating, I can go around window shop, and possibly burn off some calories from walking around a bit! It can get busy and it is hard to find seating around the building, but worth if you want good friendly staff and delicious ice cream!
