Same menu, same ingredients – can’t go wrong. My usual is the roast turkey breast. About identical to the other locations, though a little dry. Asked for extra mayo in a cup and that made all the difference – then it became the sandwich I’ve eaten for years. We like this location and glad to have a Sequoia a bit closer to us, but the dry sandwich is just one little thing to nitpick about. Another is how freakin’ cold the place is. Bakersfield is a hot place but I could store a stash of ice cream anywhere in this restaurant. It is FREEZING COLD in there. I mean… a hot summer day and my wife packed jackets for her and my boy knowing how cold it gets in this restaurant. Hey, Sequoia, can you adjust that thermostat to some something other than Arctic Blast? Yeah, this is not major… but I don’t like sitting in ice anymore than molten rock and lava. There’s got to be a happy medium. And we’re finding that the cookies tend to be a bit overcooked. Compare, say, a Rainbow Sugar at Buena Vista to any other location; a bit more crumbly and hard-edged. Downtown location is near-perfect every time (outta be after all these years) – Ming Avenue is almost as good. Rosedale is mostly on, though they stumbled many times on more than just cookies… but Buena Vista needs to cook ’em a few minutes less. Sequoia cookies traditionally haven’t been hard around the edge… always soft and almost doughy. Yeah, another thing you may say is nitpicking. But Sequoia Sandwich as a brand has, in general, been excellent overall. I enjoy the Buena Vista location and don’t want to see these little things add up to make it the one failing Sequoia. The ratings for this location are a bit lower than the others and probably justifiably so. We’ll keep going back, though, because we love the product and know they’re new at this location and still learning and looking to improve. They have big shoes to fill but I have faith they’ll get there… they don’t have very far to go…

Saltgrass Steak House – Menu with Prices – 8440 International Dr, Orlando

The first time we went, right after they opened, it was ok. My steak was decent; though not cooked correctly. Service was just ok. Having been to their Lake Buena Vista location – which was great – we went back to this location and give it a second shot. Unfortunate idea. It was 7:45 and the place was fairly slow. We were the only people sitting at the bar. Bartender took our drink order and got them out fast. Placed our order, and that was the last we saw of the bartender for awhile. We both needed refills and he was no where to be found. Our fried mushrooms came out and were good. Little did we know they would be the best part of the meal. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the Nashville Hot sandwich. I have previously had it at the another location, and it was fantastic. It took a solid 20+ minutes after the app for the two sandwiches to come out. The first thing I noticed was my side of mac and cheese was just mac. There was no cheese on the noodles. The bar manager overheard me pointing it out to my boyfriend, and offered to get me something else. I declined, figuring the sandwich was really enough. We bite into our sandwiches, and the chicken was room temperature at best, teetering on cold. Our “Nashville hot” had no hot sauce on it. It was the most bland sandwich ever. I asked the bartender about the sauce and he leaned in for a closer look at our sandwiches and said that if they put sauce on it, it was way too little. He went to get more. By this time, the sandwiches were actually cold. The “Nashville hot” sauce, was not hot at all. It was honey based and runny. It had some sentiment at the bottom of the bowl that looked like pieces of burnt bread. The manager came back over and I told her that the sauce seemed off and just tasted like honey. She said it was honey sriracha – which is nothing like Nashville Hot sauce. We left the sandwiches there, paid our bill and left. We’re local, and just scratched it off the list of places we’ll be going. I will say, to her credit, the manager asked if we wanted dessert. We declined.

Manny’s Original Chophouse- Lake Buena Vista – Menu with Prices – 12124 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando

I have been to the original Manny’s Original Chophouse in Haines City, which is usually packed at around dinner time and a 35 minute/29 mile drive from my home in the Sea World Area. Then they opened one in Kissimmee (apparently the busiest one of the franchise) 27 minutes/17 miles. Today (5/28) I found out via social media that they opened a Manny’s in Lake Buena Vista about two weeks ago 16 minutes/10 miles from home. They are in week two of soft opening, so nothing is set in stone as far as hours, but based on location will probably have hours like their Kissimmee restaurant. I enjoyed the 9oz Filet Mignon, which came with bottomless salad, my favorite part of an entree that comes with it. Their rolls are really great with the honey butter. Sat at the outside bar/patio that opens into the restaurant. Service was excellent, but again it is a soft opening, so in about a month or so I will revisit and see how often I will visit when business has ramped up. Steaks, Chops, Ribs, Seafood, Chicken, Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads, and Soups, good variety on menu at reasonable chophouse prices.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Midtown – Menu with Prices – 3201 Farnam St #6111, Omaha

I prefer the La Vista location. I’m glad they took over this theater and made it an Alamo as that will keep everyone around here from flocking to the La Vista location. However, they inherited the previous tenant’s (Marcus Midtown’s) seating and the seats are just narrow. The keys in my pocket kept triggering the seat recliner switch. The fully reclining seats are nice, but mostly gimmicky. I have no desire to lay down to watch a movie in public. Service and food quality were on point for what I expect from Alamo, but I’ll stick to their La Vista location (which also has a dedicated parking lot). I’m glad to see from other reviews here that Alamo is holding true to their threat to throw you out for making noise. That’s why people love Alamo! To those upset by it, perhaps it’s time to do some soul searching and realize you’re one of those obnoxious movie goers that nobody likes and go to an AMC theater instead.

Cogburn’s Big Wings – Menu with Prices – Cooper Marketplace, 825 S Cooper Rd, Gilbert

So I visit Cogburns regularly to watch sporting. I came here on a Monday to watch the college basketball championship. So on Monday they have $3.50 Vodka call its, my girlfriend tried to place a order before happy hour was over and the bartender told her it’s 3.50 Vodka call its so you’re good.. The service from our waitress was not the best took forever, times she walked by didn’t check on us but check on others around us. When I told her I was ok on drinks right now she asked if I wanted the tab like she’s trying to rush me off,I told her we’re watching the game. I ordered 3 Moscow Mules when we get the bill it shows $9.50 each instead of $3.50. When we talked to the bartender she said she would fix it. Then the waitress comes up asks what’s going on explained what happened then she says oh they’re different Vodkas so it can be different prices so she automatically assumed it was the wells. This location is 5 minutes away from my house but this experience reminded me why I drive the extra few minutes to the Val Vista location and I will never go back to the Cooper location. The service at Val Vista is better, staff is friendly unlike the Cooper location and they don’t try to screw you to get a quick buck

Valentino’s – Menu with Prices – 4451 N 26th St, Lincoln

Dont think I’ll ever order at this location again. Was told 45 minutes ordered at 7:58PM and called at 9:14PM to check on order guy told me any second it should show up at any second. Got the pizza at 9:40PM. Asked the delivery guy what took so long and he said there was 4 other deliveries. Okay I get that he had 4 other pizzas to deliver but no one can pick up a phone and tell us they are going to be late. On top of that pizza was cold. Called and talked to manager and he gave me 25% off and wouldn’t own up to mistakes that were made. Also never did get a sincere apology or I hope you will still order with us. I normally dont write reviews but just so people know their food might be late and cold.

Crazy Fire Mongolian Grill – Menu with Prices – 1800 Skibo Rd, Fayetteville

The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is: (1) for the creativity aspect and (2) for the service. It’s an interesting concept to allow customers to create and craft their own dishes with absolute freedom. However, this is a double edged sword as most people have absolutely no idea how to prepare their own meals with this level of sophistication. Also, when busy, it’ll take up to 30 minutes before you can actually get your meal cooked for you. The service was friendly, kind, and accommodating. There is no doubt in my mind that there are health code violations all over this place. I would highly recommend against this place unless you know how to cook very well and the place is empty. Only if those 2 criteria are met should one come to this restaurant.

Roboto Tokyo Grill – Menu with Prices – 3122 Mahan Dr, Tallahassee

I’ve eaten at all of the Robotos locations numerous times and usually the food is great. However, that was not the case tonight. I called in to order the chicken hibachi and was told my food would be ready in 2 minutes. I thought it was a little odd as I assumed they usually cook the food fresh and it definitely takes longer to cook chicken. None the less, I told the woman it would take me a little longer to get there so she said she’d wait 5 minutes and then put the order in. When I got home and opened the box, I noticed the chicken was all diced up and overly covered in pepper. It looked like they had prepared it well in advanced and then just reheated it. It was over cooked, crumbly, sauceless and all I could taste was pepper. The veggies that are usually a balanced mix, was pretty much all cabbage as well. Honestly I ate a few bites and was ready to throw it away. I probably won’t be returning to this location.

RubySnap Fresh Cookies – Menu with Prices – 770 S 300 W, Salt Lake City

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sorely disappointed that the Patsy Jane (their blackberry-vanilla mascarpone cookie) was sold out by the time I got there… and on its last day, too:( However, I know that was my own fault, as I came 15 minutes before closing time. (I also forgot to use my 10% off coupon that I had on my phone… so yeah, it was one of those days, lol.) I ended up getting the Snickerdudette (their horchata-cinnamon rice milk cookie) instead. My hubby thought it was too sweet, but I thought it was divine! I’ve had other cookies from this location before, and even though they haven’t all been my favorite, they’re still (for the most part) some of the best cookies I’ve ever tasted. They’re much more soft and decedent than an average cookie… so if you’re more into crispy cookies, then this may not be the place for you (however, I would still give them a chance;) The owner and all the workers were also super sweet (no pun intended:) and very patient about letting me sample all of their yummy cookies, which is always a plus in my book! I only wish that I lived closer, so that I could come here more often (then again, I’d probably gain 10 pounds if I did, so maybe that’s for the best).

Chick-fil-A – Menu with Prices – 5001 Monroe St Ste FC10, Toledo

I normally have a a great experience with chick fil a but this time it wasn’t i came during a slow period with only a couple people ahead of me. but it still took 15 minutes to get my sandwich and fries then another 5-10 minutes to get my drink because they had to change the syrup which is ok since i work in the restaurant industry but while i was waiting my food had gotten cold. My fries were cold when i started to eat one so i only ate my sandwich which was still warm in some spots.

Burger King – Menu with Prices – 353 E Brown Rd, Mesa

PLEASE READ!!!!!! ok fast food I know! But I have been to this location six times and all six times have had cold food! Cold! Please look at all of my reviews and know that I am all about positivity. Unfortunately it got to the point that it was More than just cold Food. The second to last time I was there I stood in line in the drive-through at about 9 o’clock at night. There was one car in front of me who was already at the window and I waited about 20 minutes after I had ordered. So being very own confrontational I took the food and waited when I got it I opened each one and stuck my finger in the middle and they were cold. A whopper and a chicken sandwich. So I waited a minute or two when they finally came back to the window I got their attention. When they open the window I had simply stated that both of my sandwiches were cold and I had a feeling it was because of the long wait and without saying anything she took the bag close the window and from what it looks like brought a cook over to talk to her right in front of the window. You can tell he was talking crap. When they open the door to give me the new sandwiches I asked to speak to the manager! She said my name is DESTINY I’m the manager And I don’t believe that your burger and chicken sandwich were cold I felt them. Lol I’m all about customer service so I’m not going to dwell on this just wanted to make a point of how easy it is to make people happy yet some people find it so difficult. DESTINY I really wish you the best and hope you happiness!!!

Buena Onda Empanadas – Menu with Prices – 724 E Haley St, Santa Barbara

Very pleased with Buena Onda’s catering service and food for my 150 guest event in Goleta. First off, Matias was great to work with on this! He was great with discussing what fit best for my event such as the number of services, whether to bring the oven onsite or not, and placement. His team even came onsite once to check the venue/spacing and provided to-go boxes for our guests to take leftovers. Here’s what I ordered: Carne – my favorite empanada! All are crispy, soft, and filled with delicious filling but the carne was just extra juicy and tasty. Pollo – the seasoning on the chicken was spot on Caprese – imagine a melty cheesy pizza roll but 10x more cheese Vegan – we picked the quinoa option and it was rly filling GF – didn’t try this one Chips & guac – lots & lots of guac! Grilled veggies Salad with grilled chicken on the side – we had 3 guests on a low carb diet so Buena Onda came up with this great option Alfajores – generous dulce de leche filling sandwiched between two cookies (kind of like short bread) I wish they had powdered sugar coated on the outside but that is just me being alfajores-obsessed. Peanut butter cookies (GF) – SO DELICIOUS! It was filled with chocolate chips, moist, and had the perfect amount of peanut better. The cookie still tasted good 3 days after too. Yerba mate – they have their own special recipe! I recommend it. My guests were obsessed and went back for thirds! Buena Onda needs to expand so I can have them cater all my events (to the Bay Area especially)!!

Birrieria Don Rafa – Menu with Prices – 560 Broadway, Chula Vista

When I was a child I looked forward to the drive south to Chula Vista. My brother worked at Hom’s Teapot Inn. A few times he took me to visit and the owner would have his chef make something delicious for me. I miss Wendel Hom and his Teapot Inn. It’s been years since I’ve been in this part of Chula Vista. Sears across the street was the only location that had sandals I was looking for. I didn’t know there was a Tacos y Gordo’s on this block. Birrieria Don Rafa was fairly busy for lunch. My friend Omar invited me here to try the birria. I ordered a birria taco. Corn tortilla had a mild corn flavor while the birria had a hint of sweetness and a rich savory flavor. Birria was extremely tender and juicy. I also ordered a carne asada taco. Same mild flavored corn tortilla with delicious tender beef. I liked the char and the seasoning on the carne asada. Place has some very lovely artwork. Our server was very nice and efficient. This was my first time eating birria and I really enjoyed my tacos. 4 made for a very filling lunch. I look forward to driving south to Chula Vista again.
