Bought the “4 Adults” Groupon package for $50 for $70 worth of food for my sister and her two kids while in town visiting and must have not read the fine print well enough. I assumed you could put a total of $70 towards good but not the case… The food was great, but service a little slow because the restaurant waits for a hibachi table to fill up before the chef will come out and prepare the meal. I ordered the NY strip and scallops, my sister ordered the filet and shrimp (roughly $35 each so we were already close to Groupon discount), and we ordered the chicken for the two kids with fried rice (note: it’s a $3.50 upcharge per person for fried rice that we discovered when we got the bill!). I told the server when she came back we had the Groupon offer and she said they would not honor unless we upgraded the kids chicken to an adult portion ($7 more each) so we sucked it up and got the adult portion even though the kids would not eat that much. Seems ridiculous especially since we already spent $70+ without their meals even included! Our chef was amazing and the kids loved the experience he brought to our table. Again, we didn’t eat that much but it was the overall experience that mattered. We got the bill and it was $130 for 4 meals and no alcohol!) and the Groupon took $70 off the total. Without looking we split the final bill and didn’t realize gratuity was included in the total even after we gave the chef a $10 tip and we both tipped $10 each on top of that. Beware of “hidden”charges when eating here and don’t order fried rice for everyone in your group especially when you can share and save money. The restaurant is beautiful but I think there should be upfront disclosures when ordering so you don’t have sticker shock when you get the bill.

The Compass Tavern – Menu with Prices – 90 Harding St, Worcester

Bought a Groupon ($50 for 4) for this restaurant and was excited to try it. Groupon was good for Sunday through Friday. Went on a Tuesday night when they have a special BOGO on appetizers. Find out you can either use the Groupon or get their BOGO special. Luckily they still gave it to us. We ordered the Large Nachos with Chicken which were mediocre, nothing you couldn’t make at home, and the fried pickles, which were good, but we had to ask for the sauce which was supposed to come with them as stated on the menu, but the waitress told us they came with no sauce. We waited about 5 minutes even though we saw our waitress talking with others at the bar. Both my sons ordered a taco pizza which was average, my other son got a burger with onion rings, which was good. My husband got the special fried seafood platter with clam bellies and scallops which was good and I got the fried scallop plate which was good, but nothing great. Would I go back? If I had a Groupon/Coupon yes, but if not, no. I can get mediocre food anywhere.

Arrivederci – Menu with Prices – 8900 E Pinnacle Peak Rd Ste D1, Scottsdale

We bought a Groupon and made a reservation for dinner. We ended up getting to the restaurant early and went to the bar for a glass of wine beforehand. Happy hour happened to be going on, which ended up being only $1 off each glass. We paid and tipped the bartender and then checked in to be seated for dinner. I believe the older woman who was our server may have been one of the owners. She was very pleasant to us during dinner but as soon as we went to use our Groupon her entire demeanor changed and she became EXTREMELY rude to us! To the point where my fiancé and I were very uncomfortable! She stated that it is against Groupon rules to partake in happy hour. We were not attempting to use the Groupon AT ALL for happy hour! That was a completely separate transaction in the bar area PRIOR to our dinner. We have done that several times at other restaurants with absolutely no problem. She made us feel like we were awful people for having a Groupon and kept telling us we were breaking Groupon rules. It was completely over the top and childish how she began acting. She then stormed off with our bill and added a 20% tip, which was not on there when she brought the original bill. We have never seen that done before! Again she stated that is Groupon policy, but we contacted Groupon and they said thatâ??s absolutely not part of their policy. We are great tippers, and tip more than 20% to each restaurant we go to. I was left shaking with how rudely we were treated. They shouldnâ??t be on Groupon if they become furious when customers attempt to redeem them. By the way, the restaurant was completely empty, besides us there was only three other tables occupied at 6-7pm on a Friday night. When we have a good Groupon experience we become return customers, this is one place we absolutely will not be returning to. The manager lacks professionalism and respect for customers. One of the worst experiences we have ever had, and we shared this with many of our friends in the neighborhood.

Duc Chuong Arlington Menu with Prices 1818 E Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington

Let me start off saying that I hate giving bad reviews. Everyone deserves a chance and you know what, we gave them openings to make up for what happened on their own but nooo it didn’t work out that way. So our party of 4 came in and ordered 3 com ga roti, and one bun bo hue. The service was okay at first with two servers attending to us and one other table. They had nice upbeat viet music playing and just a chill vibe going on. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes which was to be expected. The bun bo hue arrived first and let me say, the large bowl always looks HUGE and delicious. My sister enjoyed it. The three plates of com ga roti came a couple minutes after. At first glance everything looks so good, a beautiful fried chicken half with fried rice and a colorful mixture of veggies. Gosh we couldn’t wait to dig in. The veggies were incredibly bitter, and too lightly dressed if at all while the chicken was cooked to perfection. Honestly that’s the reason they deserve a star. The sauce that accompanies the dish was… interesting but we had to ask for soy sauce because it was just too weird for us. Now the rice.. the rice was dry but that’s okay since its fried rice. What’s not okay is finding a piece of a metal dish scrubber in your rice. My mom felt something weird in her mouth and pulled out a curly metal piece of one of those pan scrubbers. When we addressed it to the waiter he took it and just walked off with out saying anything. He never returns and just goes back to the table he was sitting at to talk and eat with the other server. My sister had to go over there and ask for another serving of rice to replace the one my mom found the metal in. Now for some reason the viet music that was playing had turned off so we can hear the mexican music playing in the kitchen and the two servers talking smack about the rice and then returning to their table again. I get up to pay and have to walk to their table to get them. The server tells me the total which was for the 3 rice dishes and 1 noodle dish. I asked if they were really going to charge us like normal seeing as though we found a piece of metal in our rice. The server huffs, makes a face, realizes my sister is walking up to the counter to back me up, and then says he’ll take off a portion of rice. Honestly we would have been okay if they had at least apologized when we brought it up instead of ignoring the whole situation. If someone finds metal or anything that’s not food in their dish you should always apologize and try to be empathetic. What if that was your mother biting into a piece of metal in her rice? Would you be okay with the establishment ignoring you and trying to avoid dealing with it? I’m deeply disappointed.

Dragon Express / Pho Vietnam Express – Menu with Prices – 678 E St, Chula Vista

I was looking for pho in the area and came across this place. The reviews all seem so great so I decided to give it a try. All everyone sayd about this place is that its in a run down ghetto place. Thats definitely not the case. I ordered orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, y eggrolls, and large pho. My total came out to $35 a bit more than what i usually pay at my regular pho place. It was good but it wasnt the best like everyone says. Rice kinda tasted like it had been cooked since the morning and just sitting under heat. Orange chicken was ehh. The egg rolls where good. The pho was a big portion but it wasnt all that tasty it was missing lots of flavor. I was extremely disappointed since I was sick and pho was the only thing I was craving. I dont think i will be giving this place a second chance. I’ll most likely stick to my original pho place even if its a bit further.

Oyshi Sushi – Menu with Prices – 6181 Saratoga Blvd Suite 109, Corpus Christi

New restaurant in town from what we were told. All NEW furnishings & interior. Very open & welcoming. We were travelling for vacation & decided to try it out. The table ordered the edamame beans & stuffed avocadoes for an app, & while the beans were fine, the stuffed avocadoes tasted “off”. The table didnt even finish the plate. For dinner my kids had the teriyaki chicken and fries rice, my mother had seared steak hibachi, and my spouse & I split a Wild Bill & a Sith roll. The Wild Bill was quite good, but the Sith roll was hardly edible. The seafood had a very fishy taste and about 15 minutes after eating I felt sick. It was a shame too, because the presentation was awesome (see photos) The server we had was so great and even after my youngest spilled his drink she was SO helpful to help us clean up and get him a new drink. All in All, it was a cool little place, still think they are working out the kinks. For all 5 of us to eat, it was $111.56 before tip, so average per person is $22.31. In my opinion, a little steep for the quality, but we’ve had worse sushi for much more expense. Do try the Wild Bill. Steer clear of the Sith Roll(no likey)

Time Out Sports Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1762 S Greenfield Rd Ste 111, Mesa

My fiance and I came here when it first changed to Time Out. We sat at a bar table and was assisted by the bartender. she was SO nice and told us all about the new changes and how she worked there when it was Fat Willys and we told her how we only went there once because food was gross. She assured us new owner made many changes. We were ecstatic. We ordered a burger and wings and some mixed drinks. Food came out perfect. No complaints at all. We live across the street and were excited that this place was now amazing. Ended there because every time we go in there now there is new charges. Now they charge for fries when they didnt the first time. Then after getting our bill we noticed they charge for kids drinks, they dont come with the kids meal like most places. Also they have kids eat free which is a big deal for us since we have 3, well apparently even though we paid full price for wings because it wasnt a day they were on special, they still wouldnt count it as an entree even though they cost more than the burger. At least make it a dollar amount or have it written somewhere in the place. We gad an amazing experience the first time but have been back 3 times since and been disappointed by service and by surprise charges. Wont be coming back. Havent seen that nice bartender since, unfortunately. Seems like they just want to do anything to get more money out of you but not really care about their guests. Sad to see.

Bay House Bistro – Menu with Prices – 574 Bay St, Staten Island

So because my friend loves the beef and broccoli from this restaurant I decided to come with her. I ordered the lunch special chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice, the chicken was like rubber which could not be chewed. The waiter was attentive and said he would make me a fresh portion of the chicken. The pork fried rice was very good as well as the egg roll the lunch special came with. Sadly the new portion of chicken was also like rubber. 2 days later I decided to give it another try and ordered sweet and sour chicken I was surprised to see the chicken covered in sauce considering most places put it on the side. No big deal since it was much better than the chicken with broccoli option. Very nice staff seems empty to dine it but many take out orders for delivery.

Vape Works of Birmingham Menu with Prices 5510 Crestwood Blvd, Birmingham

Is vape your thing? If it is and you live close to Avondale, this may be the place for you. Not being a connoisseur of the vape, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I was immediately drawn in by the sampling bar where you can try as many as 50 different flavors that Boxcar sells — which is really good for people who have never tried vape since they may have no idea what they are looking for. I ended up buying a standard vape setup and have been satisfied. If you do find yourself considering a purchase, check groupon/yelp for a deal. I bought a pretty standard setup and paid $35 but ten minutes after we left one of my friends found an active groupon for what I paid that included a couple of additional items and a case. I felt and feel a little burned that the guy at the store didn’t at least mention the groupon or say he’d match the groupon deal. I don’t think this will keep me from going back to this store and it shouldn’t keep you from going either — it’s a cool low-key spot and it connects directly to Wasabi Juan’s so you can have a whole dinner/vape experience if that is your thing.

Hachi Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 1724 W Newport Pike, Wilmington

What a great addition to this weird strip mall!! My partner and I tried this new place with the help of a Groupon last weekend and were very pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed it! -Food: delicious! We fully overordered, thanks to groupon and curiosity. We both got a miso soup (a must try at any new Asian place, amirite?) $2.50 gets you a really nicely sized miso, with plenty of flavor and tofu and seaweed. We tried a house and avocado salad, both served with yummy ginger dressing. Both had fresh veggies and the avocado had plenty of it. For entrees, I went with the basil stirfry and she had the orange medallion – both made with tofu. Both were delicious, good portions, (leftovers taken home of both!), and presented really beautifully. A spicy tuna roll was also ordered but i cant speak for that as I dont eat it. My partner thoroughly enjoyed it adn the critical rice ratio was good. Sometimes you get rolls at places that are just all rice and barely anything else! Hachi did not have that problem. PRO TIP for the VEGETARIANS: there is a TON of stuff to pick from! a few different rolls and just about everything on the rest of the menu – curries, stir fry, noodle dishes, tons of options. I really look forward to going back to try more. Service: Excellent. the dishes were perfectly timed, the server came by to check on us multiple times, kept glasses full, etc. overall a great experience. Ambiance: well, like everything else in DE, this place is in a strip mall. The inside of the restaurant is much nicer than the exterior….. it almost feels like it doesnt belong there, but I am glad it is. They have a nice bar area and a sizable restaurant in general. its a pretty big space and I really hope they do well there. I will definitely be back, groupon or not!o

Pacific Street Café – Menu with Prices – 301 Lincoln St, Roseville

I’ve come here close to a dozen times for breakfast and have always ordered the sausage link and eggs which is outstanding, until today. Today I ordered chicken fried steak because I’m always on the lookout for a good one. Well, a good one is t to be had here. It was god awful. Tough as can be and has almost a burnt taste to it and it wasnt burned. To top my experience off- the bill for it was $3 more than what’s posted on their website and when I politely mentioned that to the waitress, she looked me dead in the eye and said “that’s not our website”. Wow. Really. Even after I showed her a picture on the site of the very table I was sitting at she still denied it, whipped out her phone and text “the owner” asking her if it was their site. LOL. I didnt stick around to see what the response was. I did tip an amount making up for the difference though only because of the insult to my intellect.

Joon Shabu 2 – Menu with Prices – 2453 Park Ave, Irvine

Date: Friday, December 21, 2018 – 7:30pm Location : The District, in the general area of the AMC movie theater Ambiance : Modern, Trendy However, there were stacked hot pots on the back counter, which were visible from every corner of the restaurant. What an eyesore… Food : Mediocre. My sister and I both ordered the large 8 oz portion of Joon Beef, because we prefer a more lean cut – $25 per person (dinner pricing). The black rice offered at Joon is something I usually see at a vegan restaurant. Do I want that at Shabu? NO. Sauces: Soyo : Soy, garlic, onion, and olive sauce. The sauce was on the sweeter side and had a slight kick to it. I would have preferred a less sweeter sauce, and more kick. Ninniku : Garlic emulsion sauce. Hmmm, did not like this at all. Ponzu : Soy based with a squeeze of citrus. This was the worst ponzu I’ve ever had in my life. All I tasted was citrus and this is usually my main go-to sauce when eating Shabu. This was a huge let down for me because Shabu is all about the sauce ! Dining Experience : We weren’t greeted upon entering the restaurant. Possibly, could it be busy? No. They have a host/hostess stand right at the entrance, but nobody stood there during our entire meal duration. We thought it was just us they didn’t greet, but nobody was greeted upon entering the whole night – not until 3 minutes later (which is too late) Customer Service : Poor. We constantly had to flag somebody down, my main questions: 1. What are the soup bases that were left on the counter ? The server knew it was our first time and didn’t even care to explain the two, when she left them at our table. 2. Are any hot drops available ? 3. Is there another substitute for black rice? There should be an option for white rice and a specialty rice. 4. Where is the bill? I am a tiny petite female and that 8 oz portion did nothing to fill me up. Was it really 8 oz or did I get cheated out of my portion? Who knows…. since I will definitely not be returning.

Namaste Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2101 Columbia Ave, Lancaster

I stop by this restaurant for a pick up order for my kids dinner (Veg. Biryani). And the owner told me that they were crazy busy due to long weekend rush; so much so that he didn’t even had his lunch yet. He said all the items on the menu are sold out and the only thing he can make is dumplings or Naan (the bread). None of these would have worked for my kids. But he went out of his way and offered me some rice for my kids. He said he saved it for his dinner, but since this or the kids, he decided to give me his portion of saved rice. He said, he’ll manage his dinner meal with something else. I was blown away by his sincerity, kindness and genuineness. GREAT HUMAN BEING! GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS RESTAURANT!
