I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times since they opened and I’ve always had a great experience. It is located in a strip mall but don’t let the location deter you. The service is excellent and the food is DELICIOUS. The SPICY BASIL FRIED RICE is one of my favorites and I also like the BANGKOK FRIED RICE. My wife’s favorite is the SPICY EGGPLANT. Every time I go the food is fresh and tasty and the owner and staff are friendly. The place is clean, too. I can’t find any faults in all the times I have eaten there. If your looking to breakout from the usual burgers and chicken, check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

BBQ Chicken – Menu with Prices – 56 Whitney Ave, New Haven

New Haven is definitely stepping up it’s Korean fried chicken game with BBQ Chicken! I’ve previously heard about it as a popular Korean chain and am pretty thrilled at its location choice. +CHEESELING (4.5/5): Korean fried chicken is definitely a breed on its own (compared to American fried chicken). While I can’t speak for authenticity, I definitely enjoyed this take. It’s pretty crispy and there isn’t a thick batter. The cheeseling denotes the cheesy powder on the chicken, which reminds me of Kraft mac & cheese powder (not a bad thing!). It can be a bit much if this is the only thing you’re eating though. (This only comes in boneless by the way!) +KIMCHI FRIED RICE (5/5): This was a large portion, and was pretty tasty! I appreciated how the kimchi still had a crunchiness. The egg yoke was oozy and perfect on top of the not-too-spicy and spicy-enough fried rice. -SOY GARLIC (3/5): This was okay. It wasn’t memorable and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t really well coated and the sauce was a little too thick a texture for me (maybe this is normal and I’m just not used to it). I have to admit having it was a good break from the cheeseling though. While the food was good, the service isn’t quite on par. I’m used to eating pickled radish with my Korean fried chicken (love that acidity), but that’s not automatic here so be sure to ask if you’re hoping for that. It’s also just hard to get attention of the staff, whether it is to get water or the check. We also got one dish way ahead of the other, while our fried chicken sat on the counter for way too long (and wasn’t as hot when we got it). Perhaps they just need more staff. Overall, the food was quite tasty and I would return for cheeseling, which I haven’t had anywhere else before. I would also recommend coming in when you’re not in a rush!

JJ Jasmine Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 400 Walnut St, Des Moines

Spring rolls were good but on the small side. Their menu is appealing to me suggesting traditional favorites such as fried rice, lardna, pad thai and eggplant tofu. They have daily specials. The eggplant tofu dish was not very flavorful or spicy (asked for extra spicy). The eggplant, tofu and veggies were much too big and inconvenient to eat. The stars of the dish only had a few pieces and the veggies were way too undercooked. The tofu was a little dry and the eggplant was too mushy. I did get two scoops of rice which was nice. It looks like the Panda customers next door get heaping amounts of food unlike here. They do have a great help yourself hot pepper/spicy sauce bar, water and chopsticks. I may go back and give them one more try just for that. Don’t let the line scare you. Food comes out pretty fast (and undercooked). Bonus was they didn’t complain about me using a credit card for spring rolls which is unlike Gringos next door and Dooly’s.

Szechwan Chinese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 669 N Green River Rd, Evansville

This must be my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Midwest. I come down to Evansville regularly to visit and always stop by Jimmy’s for lunch. You cannot beat the lunch specials with fresh veggies and meat so tasty. The restaurant is unassuming in a strip mall. The main dining room is Asian inspired with white table clothes and comfortable. The staff and Jimmy are so friendly – always cheerful and welcoming. They make a point of remembering the favorites of the regulars. They check on you regularly to make sure your order is fine and keep drinks full. Lunch specials start at $6.50 and include soup, crab Rangoon, egg roll, entree and choice of rice. So much food! You never leave hungry and often take food home. I love the Kung Pao chicken or shrimp. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. I also like the fried eggplant dish. The hot and sour soup is smooth and flavorful. I’ll keep coming back.

Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 1515 S Vine Ave, Tyler

I stopped here for lunch. I passed by this place a few times and was curious. I love good fried chicken and cajun food. So, I got the fried chicken combo #1 and a small seafood gumbo, 16oz. The fried chicken was a pleasant surprise, crunchy crust, tender and juicy inside. It was hot and tasted fresh out of the fryer. It was also a little spicy. Not too hot but definitely spicier than most! I wanted a side of dirty rice but it was cooking and not ready yet. So I got a side of cole slaw. It was your basic cole slaw, pretty good. I also got a small gumbo. The gumbo had a dark roux base, lots of veggies, the trinity, onion, bell pepper, and celery, also with tomato and okra. It had a good amount of shrimp, chicken, and sausage. It had rice in the bottom of the container. The gumbo was a hit as well. It had a great flavor and was also a little spicy. Again not too hot that you couldn’t enjoy the flavor, but definitely got the sinuses cleared out! The atmosphere was very basic, red covered both benches, black table tops, orange painted walls. Fairly clean establishment, pretty friendly folks. Not a lot of interaction with the staff except taking your order and bringing your food. If you like fried chicken and are looking for something other than KFC, Church’s, or Popeye’s, give this place a try. You may find a new favorite.

Pollo Amigo – Menu with Prices – 2540 Main St C, Chula Vista

Was craving chicken so I decided to check out Pollo Amigo restaurant. I’ll start off with saying the place is very clean and has a lot of sitting room for it being small . The associates you who helped me were very friendly while explaining the menu and answering all my questions . Now the important part for the yelpers , how did the food taste ? I can honestly say i was not disappointed , more like extremely content . The chicken was well done and had great taste . The beans were perfect in salt and still very hot . As for the rice is was a little dry but still good . The salsa was also very good not too spicy for those who don’t like spicy salsas. They even have 5 different flavor waters your can choose from . I personally loved the watermelon one . I highly recommend this place overall to any yelpers who like chicken. Trust me you won’t be disappointed. & for those who like to know about prices I ended up paying $23 for a whole chicken (8 pieces ) , pint of rice and beans , 8 tortillas , 2 salsas , & a large watermelon water . Great meal for 4 people .

Borgfeld Bistro – Menu with Prices – 856 E Borgfeld Dr, San Antonio

Awesome staff! We had not tried this place and it was a last minute decision. Even though we walked in 40 min before closing and they were cleaning up the dining area they were very pleasant and had no issue with taking an order. The dining area was extremely clean and it was nice you could see into the kitchen as well. We placed an order of triple delight, general chicken, pan fried dumplings, fried rice and steamed rice. It did not take long and we were on our way. The triple family was excellent, it would not have hurt to add a couple more shrimp though. The generals chicken was great. We ordered extra spicy and it was pretty good ( they also threw in a side of additional sauce to make sure it was spicy enough. The dumplings were really good pan fried and perfect. The only down note was the fried rice as it seemed kinda bland. We will definitely be back!

Cafe Shambala – Menu with Prices – 382 4th Ave, Salt Lake City

I came here based on the recommendation of my friend who works next door and I was in NO way disappointed. The people are friendly and patient and the fact that they have a lunch buffet won me over immediately, I can’t wait to go back and try it(I mean come on, soy milk rice pudding?! Yes!)! I ordered the vegetarian plate and was astonished at the huge amount of food that came out for $9. Worth every penny. The spicy potatoes were fresh tasting and perfectly cooked, sliceable with a fork. The fried rice was better than any I’ve ever had and had such a unique flavor to it, I couldn’t get enough. And the fried Momos were out of this world! I put some of the spicy sauce on top and gobbled them up. My husband (a picky eater) got a large portion of beef fried rice and loved every bite of it! This place is such a fun gem right in the middle of an avenues neighborhood.

Kebabs To Go – Menu with Prices – 3662 N Belt Line Rd, Irving

I’ve been wanting to give this place a try and decided to finally do it. Everything looks to be very clean and new. The kebabs are in a cooler at the front so you can see what they look like – I always like that. They took my order relatively quickly and began working on it right away. I ordered a gyro plate with brown rice and eggplant, a beef kobida kebab plate with brown rice and spinach, and the chicken kobida. FYI-kobida means ground, I couldn’t find descriptions anywhere (owners, might be something you can add to help out). They don’t cook the meat until you order, so they came out fresh off the grill. The meats were delicious! They were perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sauces made them even better. The sides are made ahead and we’re good. The brown rice and spinach were as expected. The eggplant was a pleasant surprise! I’ve only had eggplant fried, so however they made it was excellent, I’d recommend that. I ordered the hummus as a side, which was good, but for $3.99, I was expecting more. It was about a 5-6oz serving with one pita bread, one extra pita would’ve been more in line with the price I feel. I will definitely be back to try the salmon, lamb, and ribeye. Happy dining!

Masala Bites – Menu with Prices – 660 Eglinton Ave W #5B, Mississauga

Great little place for lunch buffet. Not a huge selection but definitely more than enough. They offer the staples like goat curry, butter chicken, paneer, eggplant, chickpeas. Not sure what all the names are but they’re all part of the buffet spread. All good and tasty. Not too oily either. There is also a small salad and dessert section. Also the staples are there like Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai. Also very well done. Whenever we feel like Indian buffet, this is our go to place. The restaurant is clean, cosy, service is excellent! Owner is very friendly. Waitresses are also very pleasant and helpful. Today, when we went for lunch, they had everything out except the eggplant, which is my fave. When I asked if they had any, she purposely brought me a small plate of it, which was more than enough to satisfy my eggplant craving. I would definitely recommend this over some of the big chains. Very comfortable, high quality food, excellent service. They also have a la carte. $14 for lunch and $16.99 for dinner buffet. Can also order a la carte from menu.

Chop Chop Rice Co. Menu with Prices 2818 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo

This place is just okay. Tried it out after traveling through Texas and wasn’t left with many options at 9 o’clock at night. When I ordered the staff was very friendly and polite. I got chicken teriyaki fried rice with pineapples and spring rolls. It was brought to my table quickly and it looked good. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside and mushy in the middle. I’m guessing they’re prepackaged frozen ones that they nuked in the microwave. Also, I wouldn’t really call what they served fried rice though. Lima beans and corn aren’t typically found in fried rice, but it didn’t taste terrible, just odd. The rice tasted like something you’d get from a box, not the jasmine or sushi rice you get with traditional Chinese dishes, and there wasn’t more than 2 or 3 ounces of chicken with the pineapples. It definitely wasn’t worth the amount I got charged. Overall, nice staff and clean interior but not somewhere I’d visit again. Skip this place and head to Panda Express if you have the option. Their teriyaki chicken and fried rice is a better deal.

Salam Halal Market & Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 999 7th St, Oakland

We found this take-out market/deli through Yelp and decided to drive over to try lunch. Parking is tight; check the other side of Filbert St. and cross 7th (carefully). Despite reports of “cheerful smiling service” we received little of either. Also, important to note the staff closes down 2x day to perform their prayers, so there’s a 15 min pause during these times. You can check http://irusa.org/prayer-times/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4dv88Lmv3QIVAS1pCh0gRw2tEAAYASAAEgLKCfD_BwE for the times for Zuhr (noon-ish) and Asr (late afternoon) prayer times, should you have any time constraints about dropping in. We arrived about 12:15 weekday. There were several chicken dishes but no lamb except for shank, so we were disappointed. Got one shank w/rice and yogurt. Okay, but somewhat dry and overcooked. Rice was excellent. Veggie Platter was a miss for us. We love tzatziki but this didn’t match up to others we enjoy from Ikaros/Oakland, Lokanta/Pleasanton, and Khyber Pass/Dublin. Generous amount of diced cucumber but seasoning seemed flat altho a nice whisper of fresh garlic to it. Falafel is coarse-textured. We like Ba-Bite’s/Oakland smoother falafel with its fresh herbs. Babaganoush and hummus were on the salty side altho eggplant made a nice addition to the fine arugula salad. No dolmas included in the platter this time. I think most customers get the wraps and sound very happy with them. If we’re back this way maybe we’ll give those a try instead. Prices very reasonable, and it’s good to see West Oakland getting a few more businesses started.

Sicilia Restaurant | Bar Pizza Pub – Menu with Prices – 3929 Bayshore Dr, Naples

Looked forward to trying this restaurant because the reviews were very favorable. We ordered rice balls to start and they were delicious. Dinners are served with a nice mixed salad and breadsticks. We werenâ??t served the breadsticks until we were almost finished with dinner. The breadsticks werenâ??t fresh. My husband ordered the special which consisted of sausage, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms over linguine. He thoroughly enjoyed this dish. I ordered eggplant parm over linguine. You couldnâ??t cut through the skin of the eggplant.i ordered the linguine and was served spaghetti. I was very disappointed. We couldnâ??t get the attention of the one server on duty. He was serving about five other tables, going back and forth into the kitchen, getting drinks from the bar and making small talk with other diners. It was impossible to get his attention. I kept the dinner even though I wasnâ??t able to bite into most of the eggplant. We finished dinner and it took about fifteen minutes to get the check. I did tell the server that the eggplant was very tough and disappointing. He said he would be sure to tell the chef. We waited another ten minutes to get the check and card back. This restaurant needs more servers. Iâ??m not sure weâ??ll go back any time soon.
