We were visiting boise for vacation and decided to give this place a try as we were craving for indian food that had dosa options in Boise. Being from the bay area, we are used to plenty of good indian food choices and were not expecting much in boise. However, this place turned out to be a big hit. We ordered masala dosa, goat biriyani, mullagawatny soup and paper roast. All of them turned out to be better than our expectations and best part of it was our daughters who don’t eat much asked for more after tasting those dosas. The location, cleanliness, ambience, quality and service were all excellent. The hotel is located inside an upscale hotel in a nice big room with plenty of space. The utensils and food were of high quality and service excellent with quick response to our needs. KK was the one helping us and he made sure we were happy with the experience. We will definitely go back here while visiting Boise. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting indian food in boise

Nellai Banana Leaf – Menu with Prices – 4303 Transit Rd, Buffalo

This place will satisfy you if you know what to order. It is run by South Indians so unfortunately the regular north Indian dishes like paneer curries and naan won’t be very impressive (IMHO). Instead, go for the traditional south Indian food that you don’t get very often – appam, uthappam, dosas, vada. Appam hails from the state of Kerala in India and is one of the rare things I have been able to find in the Indian restaurants in the US. So this was a good opportunity for me to try it and I wasn’t disappointed. It is essentially a crepe made from ground up rice. It is made with coconut milk so that gives it a little bit of sweetness which I really enjoy. It’ll come with a kind of dip so you can mix up the slightly sweet and salty appam with the more flavorful chutney. We also got a set of 5 uthappams and a rava dosa both of which were pretty good. Uthappam is like a pancake (quite thick compared to dosa) and has different additions like coconut, tomatoes etc depending on what you order. Rava dosa is thinner and crispier than regular dosa, so go for it if that’s your style. They all came with 5 different types of chutneys and the service staff was kind enough to refill a couple for free when I asked for more. The ambience was pleasant and the service was good ( in and out in an hour) for a weekday dinner. It was nice to eat south Indian food outside for a change and the I would probably go back next time I crave an appam.

Minerva Express Menu with Prices 4815 Lee Hwy, Arlington

Good hole-in-the-wall. It’s a small counter restaurant inside of an Indian grocery store. I saw shoppers both times, so it has community support. Tables are tiny and not the most inviting, but you don’t seek out these places for ambience. You seek it out for a shot at well-priced, authentic Indian food and this place delivers: The Good -All flavors and spices on point. I did medium spice for everything, and it had the proper Indian style heat with the spices and chili heat cooked into the food throughout the process. Tastes great, the kind of built-in spiced heat that wrecks my stomach every time. Worth it once in a while ? -20 min. to cook for a large order, no complaints on time -Biryani is very good -Chiken tikka masala and chili chicken are very good -Samosa chaat is EXCELLENT -Naan and rotis were good, but I could see how they might not be unless super fresh. Mine always were. -Dosa was large, fresh, and well made. The Bad -The little man behind the counter is helpful enough…but, ahem, picks himself in various places casually. I get its a cultural thing that I’ve seen in other parts of the world, but kind of gross when he’s handling your food and what not. -Dosa was good and large, but could have been just a bit more crispy to my liking. I’m nitpicking, but that’s only because the quality was so good. An Indian friend mentioned the butter chicken is also great here and I believe it. Worth the 10 min. drive for me when I’m craving no-frills Indian!

Hyderabad Biryani House Rochester – Menu with Prices – 1100 Jefferson Rd, Rochester

I have mixed opinions to give this restaurant a lower review. I had high expectations for this place but the customer service was less to be desired. I met up with a friend who is from India and from the South side so when I told her about the place, we were both excited to try the place especially since it focused on South Indian food when all the Indian restaurants here focus on the North Indian cuisine as she informed me. She has also tried their location in Buffalo and I attended one of her Indian cultural festivals where they catered the food from the Buffalo location so we knew it was quite authentic. We went there on a Thursday evening and my friend had already gotten a table so I just went right into the place, but one thing I noticed immediately was there was no host/wait staff at or near the front of the restaurant to greet me so I just went right in (not sure if they were short on staff that day?). The dining area has plenty of room and probably only a few tables were occupied. This place definitely has space to grow as they have an additional room beside the dining area which they probably use for private dining space. We ordered from the South Indian section of the menu and shared a dosa with chicken curry, while I ordered a parotta (crispy pancake) with mutton curry for myself and she had the idly (fermented rice patties with chutney, sambar and blended chili powder). For drinks, she ordered the madras coffee and I had the masala tea. The curries and dosa came out right away but she had to wait a while for the idly. This is one thing that they need better coordination with is making sure all the food comes at the right time. As well, we kept on having to remind the waiter about my masala tea and even when he was about to give us the bill, we had to ask him yet again (so probably about 3 times in total) about the tea and then he laughed it off which I thought wasn’t the best reaction when serving your customers. As well, my friend knew the coffee wasn’t Madras coffee and it tasted more like Nescafé which she also told the waiter and he sort of didn’t really have an answer. It is just unfortunate he wasn’t very apologetic which just didn’t sit well with us. With the food, we do agree with other Yelpers, the food is quite authentic and the spice level is represented of Indian curries but I would say for the price you paying, the quantity should be more. The dosa and parotta were portioned well and both were battered well with the parotta being very nice and crispy. Despite waiting a while for my friend’s idly, she did enjoy it and I tried a bit of it. It was quite tasty with the sambar. I also enjoyed the dosa with the chutney the best. But probably another big complaint that I had was the mutton curry really wasn’t mutton, it was chicken. I would have complained to the waiter but since the service wasn’t the greatest, I decided to bite my tongue and eat it. Another thing which was a pet peeve of mine was there was no extra napkins he gave us and when eating Indian food, you need napkins. My friend ended up stealing a napkin from the table next to us just because the server was nowhere to be found. It’s really unfortunate because the food is good and very flavorful here but the service needs to improve. I just probably won’t be back to try it.

Pie Life Pizza – Menu with Prices – 691 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena

Hole in the wall pizzeria located on Raymondale Avenue. Tiny and crowded parking lot. This review is strictly for their service. I had very large order (over $70) to deliver and was asked to bring plates and utensils. The guy at the counter smirked, and said I don?t need utensils. He was very arrogant and rude. I had to ask him a few times for utensils and plates that cost him almost nothing. He bluntly refused at first and the gave me only 4 after 2 minutes back and forth argument.I suggest you take your business elsewhere, there are plenty of good pizza places around.

Indian Spices & Groceries – Menu with Prices – 3265 22nd St, San Francisco

This is a solid, high-quality Indian grocery store, and an excellent addition to the neighborhood. The selection in this store focuses on the things that are best purchased directly from Indian purveyors, even in an era of online-one-click-everything. The store carries dry spices, spice mixes, lentils, rices, assorted flours, ghee, packaged namkeen and mithai, pretty much everything you’d expect to find at an Indian grocery and spice store- Including the nostalgic things that remind us of home, like biscuits and Maggi sauces and pani puris. There is also a refrigerated section, carrying idli and dosa batter, along with the usual array of frozen rotis/parathas/naans, and packaged meals. The store just opened, and they are asking all their customers for suggestions on items to carry – I have high hopes for this business, and hope they stick around!

Grand Hyatt Seattle – Menu with Prices – 721 Pine St, Seattle

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights May 16-20 in a king water view room and were very pleased with our experience. We had spoken with the manager Tim ahead of time regarding some special requests for health reasons and everything was taken care of perfectly. Front desk staff were very welcoming. Decor is very traditional (i.e. upscale, darker tones, comfy large furniture, marble) rather than a minimalistic and sometimes quirky modern design commonly found in newer hotels. Our room was very clean and in good working order. Bed was comfortable and linens were good quality. Only negative is that temperature control in the room was a little finicky. We had to make multiple adjustments to the thermostat each day/night. The bathroom was spacious with a large countertop, bathtub and a large separate marble shower stall. Maid service was excellent each day. During our stay we ordered room service for breakfast each day plus dinner 2 nights and service was always prompt. Room service staff were very pleasant and food was nicely presented, fresh and at proper temperatures. One minor complaint is that they ran out of some menu items like oatmeal and steak salad. As others have noted, this hotel is in a very convenient location and within walking distance to Pike Market, many shops and restaurants. This hotel is our first choice whenever we travel to Seattle. Highly recommend.

Godavari Jersey City – Menu with Prices – 835 Newark Ave, Jersey City

Godavari is brand new on Newark Avenue in Jersey City. My friend and I walked by and wanted to check it out. She knew I had a dosa craving and we decided to try it. Once we took a seat, I looked at Yelp for the possibility of any reviews, and that’s when we both gasped! We saw an overall one star rating. As we skimmed the 7 reviews, most had a gripe with management or delivery timing. The interior was adorable and clean with the space filling up quickly as it was the height of lunch hour. Since we were already sitting, we were going to stay whereupon I’d write my own review afterwards. Their menu was diverse–both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, specials and an Indo-Chinese section We decided to split a dosa but kept the menu close by in case we were still hungry. We selected the Masala Dosa. In addition, water pitchers sat on every table and service of food once ordered was pretty quick. The dosa was definitely shareable for two people accompanied by the most delicious and spicy coconut & tomato chutneys. Excellent. Two sambhars were also part of the meal. The dosa itself was crispy, light and one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The filling of potatoes with peas and carrots were generous and fresh. My friend and I devoured our dosa with not one complaint. Unfortunately, we got a bit full to continue and could not order more food, but our experience was very positive. We agreed that we’ll return. Perhaps they were ironing out the kinks as a new business which could account for the reviews. Everyone’s experience is unique, but I would recommend to give this place a try. My friend and I can attest that we had a delicious lunch. I’ll be back.

John J Jeffries Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 300 Harrisburg Ave, Lancaster

One of my husband’s favorite restaurants. Even an hour away from our house we still try to make it once or twice a year if possible. Our biggest complaint is that they don’t take the time to update the menu online. If we are driving that far for dinner we like to make sure there is something we especially want. They have a nice house cocktail list which rotates somewhat seasonally but is more stable than the food menu. Dinner starts with an amuse bouche of soup which is typically very good, along side mini muffins and focaccia. The menu is divded into small plates and large. The small plates can be somewhat substantial though and you can easily make a meal of two. depending on what you order. One of our favorites is the “surf and turf”, beef carpaccio and scallop crudo. We have yet to try “the truth” but I imagine it is amazing. There is usually some kind of shellfish and grits which we enjoy. There is typically a pork belly small plate as well which I would recommend. Staples on the menu include tacos and jimbimbap but we haven’t really tried those. You can’t say there isn’t something for everyone though since the menu doesn’t really lean to one cuisine over another. For example, the last time we went the vegetarian dish was Indian dosa. Typically for entrees you can’t go wrong with game/red meat and a fish. I have had the trout a couple time as well as some of the other fish and they do a really excellent simple preparation. We had been told that the chef trained under Chef Wolf in Baltimore and you really see the attention to detail and the development of flavor in his cooking. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy. Enjoy the art in the hotel on your way to the restrooms. I would highly recommend making a reservation though and not trying to walk in. You can eat at the bar as well which is in a separate area from the dining room.

Hilton Orlando – Menu with Prices – 6001 Destination Pkwy, Orlando

From the moment i arrived to the hotel, the reservation desk was very nice. I was welcomed by Ben who was so friendly, informative and pleasant to talk with. Prior to arriving I requested early check in and when I got there my room was available. The hallways and the room was very clean, no dirty smells, and fresh linen and a clean bathroom. My stay was absolutely wonderful. From everyone that i encountered from check in to check out was so friendly and helpful. Everyone served with a smile. Check out was so easy and smooth. I checked out with Nikki, Her mannerism was so respectful and professional. Any questions I had on charges she explained it in a way I could understand. Excellent customer service is so hard to come by and I do not take for granted the service and support that I received from Ben and Nikki. I wish I could remember my servers name at the pool because even she was amazing (I would love for her to be acknowledged as well in this review) . Because the service I received at the Hilton Orlando was above exceptional I will absolutely choose that hotel as my first choice no matter price when staying in Orlando. Excellent Customer Service is a QUALITY AND PRIORITY for me, and that supersedes all the glitz and glamour of any hotel.. You can have a big beautiful hotel and have bad customer service. So,Thank you so much to the Hilton Orlando.

Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center – Menu with Prices – 1211 Northwest Ave, Sioux Falls

The Sheraton Sioux Falls has a great location for attending events at the Denny Sanford Center (connected to the hotel), but I found a few issues with our room and wasnâ??t overly impressed with the property overall.Location: Excellent. Itâ??s right off the freeway and easy to find, and directly attached to the Denny Sanford Center by walkway, so there is no need to even go outside. I didnâ??t see any restaurants nearby, but they have a bar and restaurant onsite. Service: Good. Check-in was extremely fast, and the employees were friendly and helpful.Room: Average. We had a two-room suite with a king bed and a pullout sofa on the 4th floor. There was plenty of room to move around, and it was relatively clean. However, there were a few issues with the room. Itâ??s kind of worn out (especially for this class of hotel). To start, we found two long hairs on one of the pillows. Thatâ??s somewhat understandable and sometimes happen, but the noise level was really bad. We were in the atrium section and could hear EVERYTHING going on in the lobby, particularly guests socializing in the lobby after the concert. Since we used the pullout couch (placed by the door), this made it very difficult to sleep. Other:- No free breakfast. Free Starbucks coffee available in the lobby though.- The atrium and public areas are absolutely beautiful. They really gave the property a modern and upscale feel.- We had a microwave and mini fridge in our suite, which I didnâ??t see on the website. Nice touch. – I also noticed a second building (Executive Wing) that did not have an atrium, so perhaps that is quieter than the atrium. This hotel is not a dump by any means, but it wasnâ??t anything outstanding. If I were to attend something at the Denny Sanford Center, I would definitely stay here again. However, I donâ??t recommend if you donâ??t have any other reason to be in this area.

Holiday Inn & Suites Waco Northwest – Menu with Prices – 1801 N Development Blvd, Waco

My friend and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Waco this last weekend for the Silo Marathon. The hotel was reasonably priced and appeared to be kept clean and up to date. I was surprised when we got to our room and the couch and chair at the desk (appears to be made with fake leather) was pealing and falling apart. The rest of the room appears to be in tip top shape, so I could not understand why the furniture was allowed to look this way without being replaced? Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of these pieces of furniture to show you what I am talking about. Other than that, the hotel staff during check-in was extremely friendly and fast. I however, did not like that the breakfast was not complimentary but room service is an option, which on the flip side, is a nice option if you want to pay a little more (we did not end up utilizing this service). We did not end up eating at the restaurant inside the hotel, even though were were offered a 10 percent off coupon because it was Cinco De Mayo so we ended up at a Mexican Restaurant near the Silos. All in all, Waco has limited choices if your ballen on a budget, so we would recommend this hotel, the hotel management just needs to review some of the furniture in the hotel and consider replacing it.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Corpus Christi – Menu with Prices – 5213 Oakhurst Dr, Corpus Christi

New, CLEAN, well-maintained, modern hotel. King-sized room had a good layout, tasteful decor and high ceilings. The room had everything you could want – love seat, writing desk, refrigerator (nice size, not the really small one), microwave and in-room coffee. The mattress was a little firmer than some, but I found it comfortable. The bathroom had a nice vanity with shelves where you could put your things and granite counter tops. The shower faucet was actually normal (seems like hotel shower faucets are always so difficult to use). The bathroom was stocked with plenty of thick, thirsty towels. A fairly substantial hot breakfast was served which included eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, a pancake machine, yogurt, fruit, cereals, cinnamon rolls, muffins, etc. Coffee/tea was available 24/7 in the breakfast room and there was a refrigerator in the lobby with additional food items for sale. The staff was very helpful. All in all an excellent hotel experience. The only drawback was the location. It was off the frontage road near Outback Steakhouse, two other hotels and right behind a sleazy-looking bar. I stayed on a Friday night and was a bit worried that there would be noise, but there wasn’t enough to bother me. However, someone who is a light sleeper might not be comfortable. Maybe asking for a room on the front side of the hotel would be the answer. I’d give the hotel itself a 5, but the location knocks it down a bit, hence the 4.
