Remix quickly became my favorite fallback restaurant. In many ways, it feels like a place made just for me. They have many of my favorite foods: Japanese katsu curry, ramen, loco moco, and Korean saltado, among others. They have tasty craft sodas, a few good coffees, and a cheery setting in which to eat. Because of their placement within the medical center, there’s almost always parking available. Their prices are slightly high, but it feels worth it for the quality and quantity of the food they provide. There are just a few things keeping us from eating there more often. First, and it’s a minor point, but they serve their food with plastic silverware, which seems wasteful, so we prefer to bring our own utensils. Secondly, it feels like there are fewer healthy options than I would like. Perhaps the healthy options are there, but I get blinded by all my favorite calorie-filled meals. They have a constantly shifting menu which is displayed on a TV screen over the counter and on various pieces of paper posted on the wall. I would be happy if they’d organize it a bit better because I always feel like there are probably options that I’m missing just because I can’t find it amongst all the pieces of paper. But mostly, this place feels like home-away-from-home. Anytime we can’t decide on a place to eat, we always know that Remix is there and we’re almost always happy to go to remix. The food is always good; they have wifi; and we always leave full and happy. It’s our favorite restaurant in Bakersfield, and you should definitely try it out.

NrGize Lifestyle Cafe – Menu with Prices – 10055 NW 41st St, Miami

Nrgize is located inside the LA Fitness. It’s very convenient. They have a lot of healthy options. They make fruit smoothies, mega smoothies, and beneficial blends. The smoothies are available in three sizes: small, medium, and large. They have the calories listed next to each size which is great if you want to keep track of calorie intake. Another reason why I love Nrgize is that they have prepared meals that you can buy to take or you can have them heat it up for you and eat it there. Each meal has calorie, carbs, and protein listed. The staff is very helpful and courteous. I’m definitely appreciative of Nrgize for days when I’m exhausted after a workout and need some protein or for days when I don’t feel like cooking when I get home.

rakki sushi – Menu with Prices – 1380 W 6th St #101, Corona

Definitely coming here again! Overall 5 but I’ll give you my nit picky thoughts Ambience 4.5 – it’s chill, not fancy, but definitely not grungy. I’m here for the food so I don’t mind at all and only take off half if comparing to the sushi restaurant feel. I wish there were full booth options for some privacy Wait 4 – I came during dinner rush on a Saturday night and was seated right away. This pick up time was pretty instant to get our paper however waiting for our sushi was a lit longer. A good thing was even if they took a while to bring our food they brought within a good timeframe in bulk Food: Raw: one of my favorite places to eat nigiri! Albacore is my favorite and yellowtail. Definitely no slime and melted in my Mouth! Rice portion was very small which I like! I got to enjoy the actual sashimi Rolls – I will probably update later my detailed favorite rolls but I absolutely love how instead of the traditional thick 8 pieces, it is 4 thinner pieces and quality! Which allows you to actually try more dishes!!!! Idk if it’s just because it’s new but the fish was very close to texture in Hawaii. I will return for sure and hope they keep it up!!!

Tropical Smoothie Cafe – Menu with Prices – 9524 Antioch Rd, Overland Park

This spot has been several things just in the decade I’ve lived behind the shopping center. I really hope this one sticks. I have been scoping out the more local healthy spots recently in preparation for the “lose weight” New Years resolution. I am super stoked that within walking distance of most of my favorite donut shops, there is now a smoothie bar. I ordered the orange ginger smoothie for some pep and I was not disappointed. One sip and my eyebrows went straight up towards my hairline. The smoothie should be renamed to Hello Ginger! But I love ginger and the ginger is why I wanted it (recent joint pain). So I am super pleased with my choice. The ladies working the counter were super nice, super fast, and my favorite part: they cleaned as they went. Nothing speaks more to my senses than people who know clean as they go. And smoothies especially because once smoothie debris starts to dry, it congeals like glue. The place still feels new so keep encouraging people to clean as they go otherwise the spiffy newness will go away real fast. I don’t want my healthy options to not feel so healthy anymore. If the restaurant and employees are not clean, then I have no reason to believe the ingredients are fresh. So…keep it up and I’ll see y’all soon!

Osaka Sushi – Menu with Prices – 3685 W Henrietta Rd, Rochester

This place used to be good. Now please just avoid it! 1. As a buffet restaurant, this place tries to fill you up with rice, noodle and water, not in a subtle way. I ordered avocado sushi with a smear of avocado, seafood ramen with tons of noodles and two tiny pieces of imitation crab, eel rolls with a paper thin eel on a giant rice ball, etc. They don’t want to sell good food. They are trying to make you feel full. 2. The service is terrible as well. I ordered tempura that I never got. When I tried to order some more, the server told me that I needed to finish the rice bowl. For god sake, I couldn’t finish the eel rice bowl because it’s just a full bowl of rice with two pieces of paper thin eels on it. At least let me order some other food to go with the rice! 3. The worst part is that the food tastes not fresh. The teriyaki eel has gone sour. Again, I left two pieces because I can’t force myself to eat stale food! Overall, I had a lettuce salad, two shrimps, four avocado rolls, eel rice bowl, seafood ramen, four eel rolls. I paid $16 and a stomachache later that day.

Juuuicy: Market, Vegan Food, Event Venue & More – Menu with Prices – 540 Northwood Rd, West Palm Beach

Fantastic food!!! I did not give five stars as I am not a big fan of going out for dinner and being served on paper plates and plastic utensils! My husband was clearly not happy with eating off paper plates, said he was not at a picnic or barbecue! I ordered a “bowl” which was served on a flat paper plate! When I asked I was told it was suppose to be a grab and go concept, odd this clearly does not look or feel like a grab and go. The menu is also just paper. They have a full service liquor bar and they need help with service. The place itself was dark I think I would have waited to open until they figured things out a little better. I hope they change some things up as I would love to return.

Domestique Coffee – Satellite (Saturn) Menu with Prices 200 41st St S, Birmingham

They were wonderful, the atmosphere was very laid back and inviting. Would be a great place to grab a coffee and study or work on a paper (many people were). The employees were stellar, and the service was awesome! A friend of mine has a strange diet due to health reasons and she asked about the drinks and opted for water. After she paid he asked her what she was hoping and looking for concerning drinks so that they could better serve people later. I absolutely love that, and so did she because often she feels judged for things of that sort, or feels like a bother, so it meant a lot. We both got a ham and cheese croissant and had them warmed up, and I had an iced coffee. The bread was amazing and the coffee was where I didn’t even need sugar or anything. The drink menu was full of options. But the food menu wasn’t, (which I didn’t mind because that’s not the real goal of a coffee shop) however, we went for a early lunch so I don’t know about later.

Hayride Scandal Menu with Prices 5110 Corporate Blvd B, Baton Rouge

We came here a few years ago when it was Lock and Key, we liked it ok then but Hayride Scandal has totally improved upon the last idea. Like a remix that made a song even better. First, it wasn’t overly loud, which for whatever reason seems hard to do in a bar around here. The decor was moody and eclectic. People from all walks of life in there and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. We sat at the bar and the service was prompt and friendly. The bartenders really know how to mix a good drink. I don’t even like bourbon but I tried my husbands old fashioned and actually enjoyed it! And it was with Buffalo Trace so not an extremely pricey brand. I had a Moscow mule off the happy hour menu and it was excellent, and also a Dark and Stormy on the recommendation of the nice guy sitting next to us at the bar. I was happy to see options for food, we tried the toast with goat cheese and it was pretty good, not something I’m going to crave later but a good option for a small bite. They had some really interesting small plates we didn’t try because we had reservations for dinner elsewhere. My husband was impressed with the liquor selection, especially the multiple options from Orphan Barrel which we have had a hard time finding just about anywhere. We will be back for sure!

Juice From The Truck – Menu with Prices – 7601 N Mesa St, El Paso

I have never been to the location personally as I am only visiting El Paso, so all of my food has come via uber. I’m great full for Juice From the Truck because they have offered healthy and delicious breakfast options that I can order to go. Everything I’ve had has been delicious. Pictures is the yellow bowl-my favorite, and the cherry vanilla smoothie, which is also delicious.

Palani Drive – Menu with Prices – 401 Libbie Ave #1, Richmond

I live in walking distance. When the family is home, we sometimes come for an easy dinner. The service is always friendly, almost always fast but occasionally slow. The food quality is consistent and I feel like I have taken care of myself when I am done. Portobello and Brie quesadilla is a favorite and the home fries on the side are the only ones I eat anywhere. My kids like the smoothies and the burritos. But my most frequent visits here are when I am solo and the weather is decent enough to be outside. I bring my dog and eat on the porch. Every server offers my dog water, and Nora, who has worked here for years is our favorite. When I eat dinner here in the summer, i come nearly weekly. Gazpacho is one of my favorites. Each month the specials change and I almost always choose the entree salad. The food quality is consistent. Bottom line, I come here when I donâ??t feel like cooking but I want a healthy meal that doesnâ??t feel like going out. It feels like I took care of myself without any work. And the price doesnâ??t break the budget.

Secret Chef – Menu with Prices – 7723 Central Park Dr, Waco

I bought food from Secret Chef a few weeks ago for the first time and was very disappointed. I had originally heard about this place from a friend, and it sounded like the perfect place for a single person to pick up a healthy alternative to frozen meals. The company has a great website, and the food is advertised to be made fresh in-house with healthy ingredients and portion control and low-fat options. Everything looked amazing! When I stopped by the store front I was greeted by a very friendly lady who took time to show me all of the different food options and make recommendations. The store was clean, bright, well-organized, and well-lit, and I ended up buying a few meals and was excited to try them at home, but that’s when things turned south. The beef pot roast tasted like it had been boiled with no spices other than some canned diced tomato and the few baby carrots on top also had zero flavor. I ended up feeding the rest of the beef to my dogs until I opened the container 2 days later and smelled the spoiled meat, and I threw the rest away. The tilapia on a bed of rice with a side of roasted bell peppers sounded amazing on paper, and looked delicious in person, but once again had zero flavor, and I ended up throwing the rest away. When I tasted the scones I was expecting a buttery, flaky pastry, but the dough was dense and coarse and the jelly toppings tasted like standard Smuckers out of a can. This catering idea sounds great on paper, and they clearly have excellent customer service, but it’s all meaningless if the food isn’t edible.

Miso Good Ramen – Menu with Prices – 507 4th St, Santa Rosa

I’ve eaten here three times in less than 10 days: and I still don’t have photos! Why? Because I essentially inhale my Miso Butter Ramen before I have time to. This place is so good! I feel conflicted because I can only imagine what the calorie content is like on a “miso butter” dish but WOW I am blown away. It’s so savory and creamy, and it makes me so very happy. I think I’ve found my ultimate comfort food! The vegetarian miso butter ramen (can also be made vegan) is packed full of veggies, with several vegetarian add-in options. I like adding in the egg ($1.50 for an ENTIRE egg, versus $1.50 for half an egg at Ramen Gaijin). Also- while there is a $.50 charge for their fried garlic chili sauce, it’s worth it! So yummy. I do wish they served champagne though: I feel like it would be the perfect compliment to several of their menu items.

Granny’s Donuts Inc – Menu with Prices – 5382 Cherry Ave, Long Beach

Granny’s donuts are always the best. My favorite is the buttermilk plain loaf. The crust is nice crunchy but the inside is so soft, smooth, and tender. The strawberry flavor is so fresh tasting that I had to have two French crullers. The service here is the best. I’m so happy they are dopen so early and everything is ready. It helps when I need to pick up a dozen or four for the office. And for those of you trying to be healthy but jeopardize everyone else’s diet, try the smoothie bowls. Customizable. Healthy. Check this location out!
