Marcus Bonilla is OPEN for business at the Vista location as of 12/09/18! Although it is true the estimated time to move from the old downtown location on Capitol Boulevard and re-open on the Bench was off by almost nine months (original ETA mid March 2018). It takes time to birth a remodel of former Blimpie store in an old strip mall space and in particular when one of the contractors flakes out with $20K of paid for work left undone. Star rating “I’m a fan” 4 is based on experience as his customer at the old location and first visit to this one. Selection is not as robust as it was at the old site but Marcus is working hard to get it there as customers discover he is here. The name remains the same for Reel Foods as before although the “& Oyster Bar” piece is not so much evident. And there is no hot food or prepared take out being done here as was so at the other location, simply because there is no kitchen at which to do it on this site. But Marcus is not only enthusiastic and skilled buyer of all things seafood, he is also a Chef and he is hoping once he settles in at this location and gets his processes and fish inventory where he wants them to be that he’ll be able to find an additional location offering hot food. During our brief time in the new store, at least three other shoppers came in asking about hot dishes that were served at the other store. Marcus says that is a common request so he hopes to find a space to provide what customers want. As has always been so for the fish Marcus sells, he can tell you where it came from and when it came in. He “walks the talk” of transparency in sourcing. He is still getting processes and stocks into the mode of new normal for this location, but on the day of our Monday holiday – when he was open visit – he had things like fresh halibut, Dungeness crab, sashimi grade tuna, Ecuadorian wild shrimp harvested that were large – 12 ct/lb size, rockfish, Atlantic salmon, steelhead and petrale. Open six days a week (closed Sunday) with fresh deliveries daily, Marcus shared that his busiest days are Friday and Saturday and that is when he has the most fresh fish delivered. He is keeping a low profile for marketing for now until he gets completely rooted in here. But we’re glad he’s back and pass along the news to others. I’ve requested Yelp change the “closed” header. PARKING: Private lot. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in the and all on one floor with ample floor space. Marked accessible parking at the far end of the mall lot has no curb ramp associated but there is a ramp still further down. (Those aren’t Reel Foods’ failures but the Vista Village strip mall owner’s problem of non ADA compliance even 29 years into the law.) GOOD NEIGHBORS: Long time family owned Lee’s Candies is near the other end of this same strip mall. A good place to pick up some sweet treats.

Surf & Turf Food Co – Menu with Prices – 5740 Old Cheney Rd, Lincoln

This place is in a small strip mall just off of Old Cheney road. They regularly update their Facebook page and website with information about what they are getting in or have in. When you first walk in you will probably notice the high prices, but recognize that there’s a good reason why this fish costs more than what you’re getting at the grocery store. The flavor that you get from flown in fresh, never frozen, troll caught fish that is expertly fileted is amazing. I’ve only tasted similar quality fish when eating fresh caught fish just off the sea. You will also find many kinds of fish that you can’t get at the grocery store. For example, we recently had their Ivory King Salmon-a white filet with a buttery, silky taste. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try and should be considered whenever you are in the mood for high quality seafood.

The Crypt Haunted Attraction – Menu with Prices – 1445 W Southern Ave, Mesa

I used to come to this mall all the time for store pick ups from Hot Topic as well as Best Buy. First Best Buy closed so there went my usual entrance into the mall and one of the big reasons I’d stop by. Now I went a week or two ago through a second floor entrance with no issues. Came back yesterday to go shop at Torrid only to find the same exact entrance suddenly closed for no good reason. Now there are only two (first floor) entrances into the mall that are open (I believe only entrances 2 and 4). The Sears doesn’t even allow an entrance into the mall anymore. The mall sucks now though the deals are good at the stores left that I like. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon though due to the annoyance of having to navigate entrances and the fact one of the stores I like will be closed before the end of October anyway.

Baku Delicious – Menu with Prices – 3900 Pickett Road Sue C, Fairfax

Azerbaijan is one of the more well-known Caucasus countries and has cultural heritage in both Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Never having been fortunate enough to explore this part of the world, I was excited to visit Baku Delicious in the nearby confines of Fairfax and see what type of groceries and prepared food they carried. I’ve had this placed bookmarked for a while ever since trusted Yelpers Guillaume L and Hannah H each gave an enthusiastic 5 star rating, and after my visit, I have to concur that this place is pretty awesome! While the overall facility is modest in size, the proprietors creatively cram a lot into this compact space. There is a small-ish dining area in the front of the store where you can enjoy hot entrees from the cafe/kitchen in the back, freezers with all types of frozen meats, cheeses, breads, as well as the rest of the store which is packed with canned and jarred goods from the region. Towards the rear of Baku Delicious is where you find the real treasures. There is a refrigerated “deli style” case with fresh sausage, other meats, as well as specialty frozen foods. But my favorite has to be the sections where there is a case along with their hot entrees, soups, and wonderful fresh baked pastries stuffed with cheeses and meats. There is also another area with house made salads and breads. Even though I was there for at least an hour (granted 30 minutes of that I was sitting down eating a pastry and sipping on some spiced Azerbaijani tea), I could spent longer there just going up and down the aisles discovering new exotic foods. Traffic in this part of Fairfax is dicey, especially around rush hour, and this place does share a tiny parking lot with other businesses in a strip mall. But IMHO, Baku Delicious is definitely worth a visit, and give yourself a good 45-60 minutes to linger, since there are lots of interesting finds in this store.

Pescaderia En Mesa | Pesaderia de Guaymas – Menu with Prices – 811 W University Dr #102, Mesa

This is a relatively new fish market. It is of Mexican origin. I have been watching this location for the last 1.5 months since I saw the sign when driving by on University Drive, wondering when they will open. Well, they are open now. My wife, of Vietnamese origin, and I decided to see what was up. We went in on 01/14/2017. It is a small fish market. The staff was friendly. It was a man and woman. They had some various fresh seafood and fish (octopus, snails/caracol, shrimp, and others). A lot of it looked fresh. It even impressed my wife, who knows fresh fish and seafood, coming from Vietnam. She almost wanted to purchase some of their jumbo shrimp, but decided not to. We have too much seafood at home to eat through, and now space in our fridge. We will be coming back, and this time to buy some of the shrimp if they are good. It will save us the trip to Rocky Point in Mexico. We wish this business well. We definitely want them to thrive and be successful. One of the attendants gave me their card, and told me that if we desired some kind of seafood that was not displayed, to contact them. They may have it in storage, or they can order it for us. I will consider it. Perhaps, they will eventually have more choices. Otherwise, it will be difficult competing with the Asian markets on Dobson Road, and also on Broadway Road, with their huge seafood departments. I wish them well. That shopping strip they are in never has seemed to quite recover since the Fry’s Supermarket there closed. That location needs more successes.

Gala Foods Supermarket – Menu with Prices – 664 Main St, Worcester

The price for meats and the quality is very good. It’s the best place to find the hispanic items needed for latin cooking. In addition, they have a small cafeteria and tables where you can sit and enjoy lunch like rice, beans, pork, chicken, mangú, etc. The main reason why I only give them 3 stars is because their facilities are in very bad shape. The ramp to go in and out the parking lot needs immediate attention. It’s a struggle to move the cart full of groceries down that ramp and into your car. Inside the supermarket the roof is leaking making the floor on the isles wet. Overall, they need to do a better job at maintaining the place. Oh and the bathroom…ewww

900 Degrees Pizzeria-University Parks – Menu with Prices – 315 S University Parks Dr #100, Waco

Clean, inviting, and lovely place. The staff was supper nice and helpful since it was our first time here. The pizza was delicious and ingredients were fresh. Same concept as Subway and MOD pizza. Get the pizza you like and all topings included. Located in the downtown area of Waco, very easy to find and there is plenty of parking space in the parking lot. Love that there was a handicap ramp to go inside the store. Also, they have outside seating area, nice if you want to eat and hangout outside. Love it, recommend this place, we will back.

Raw Sushi Bistro – Menu with Prices – 10742 Trinity Pkwy, Stockton

Invited here by friends for lunch…first time visit. Located in the strip mall, there’s plenty of parking. I’ve been to this strip mall before, but never noticed this place. Inside there are both a drinking bar and a small sushi bar. Decor is average and pleasant. There are a few big screen TV monitors inside too. My buddy already had our dishes picked out, so I just went with it. Servings are reasonably large and shareable…which is what we did (3 of us). We had a tempura dish (mostly vegetables and a single shrimp)…which was par in comparison to other restaurants. We also had a dish that had tonkatsu, salad, & white rice…again, par tasting (this meaning good but not exceptional). We also shared a dragon roll…now it was good but I’ve definitely had better at different restaurants. Also, they didn’t give us much ginger or wasabi…so sub-par on the roll. Our server was OK, but could have been a little more pleasant. Since my buddy picked up the tab, I cannot fairly comment on the prices…but being in the strip mall, I’m sure prices were a tick higher than average. Overall, a nice average Japanese restaurant that I’d like to try it again someday.

Oh My Cupcakes! – Menu with Prices – 5015 S Western Ave Suite 290, Sioux Falls

What a beautiful store! I recently popped in to their Bridges location to grab a dozen of their delicious cupcakes for a date night in. Normally when I get a cupcake craving, I just pop over to the mall and visit their location there as it’s right by my work. This was my first visit to the main store since they were located downtown. The new store is just as beautiful as the old one….. very bright and open, beautifully decorated and welcoming. The lady that boxed up my treats was very sweet and offered recommendations on other cupcakes I might like as well. The cupcakes were boxed beautifully for my trip home as well. Their cupcakes are my favorites for a reason. They’re moist, flavorful and absolutely delicious! I’ve never had a bad one! My boyfriend had never had your cupcakes before and now he always asks when I’m going to go grab more! Keep up the awesome work! We’ll definitely be back!

Andalous Mediterranean Grill and Hookah – Menu with Prices – 6132 Merrill Rd #6, Jacksonville

I stumbled, tripped and fell when I found this great small business! This happened about six months ago or so. They have Philly cheesesteak combos for less than ten dollars, that includes fries and a canned cold drink. The cook and the Cashier(both Arabic-I think-nice men)are always fast to take the order and fast to send out the food piping hot and fresh. This place is a couple a stores down from Auto Zone. It’s located in a strip mall. We dined in for the first time two days ago. It was comfortable enough to dine there. I also bought a piece of baklava for my desert. It was delicious. They have two kind, Pistachio or pecan. I have tried both and they are equally good. If you are in the area, I recommend you stopping in for a great meal. They also have burgers, shrimp and many other foods to choose from. I like the store in the other side. P. S.-I bought a spinach pie for lunch(for the next day)& it was delicious!

Pedaler Wine & Beer – Menu with Prices – 5910 Duraleigh Rd suite 141, Raleigh

I’m still trying to figure out the name of this place? The sign outside reads ‘Beer & Wine 101’, the door read ‘Pedaler Wine & Beer’ and then the page reads ‘Wine 101’…. I’m not sure if they can’t make their mind up or if they are rebranding hoping to revamp? The shop is in an older strip mall off from Glenwood Ave. Inside the area is split up into two areas. The front space that has some seating, the bar, and wine followed by a back room that had half empty shelving for beer. The space itself just was not inviting, we stopped to check it out as we do frequent beer/wine shops. Nothing about it created an atmosphere where I would want to stay and enjoy a drink. Its just very generic. I’m kinda wondering about the other reviews since we did not have the same experience that the other reviews explained…. which also leads me to wondering if they are rebranding and the place used to be just a store and now they are making it into a bar? They did have a nice variety of wines and they labeled the areas well, however, most of it was over the $20 per bottle price point. The beer in the back did not look like anything that I haven’t seen in Harris Teeter, my husband was expecting more on the lines of Pharmacy/House of Hops selection. I’ll check back with them in a few months, maybe the place will be more than a space in a strip mall then?

Mekong Market – Menu with Prices – 747 Main St, Worcester

This is considered to be one of the most popular Vietnamese grocery store in Worcester. This grocery store has gone through many changes throughout the years. They used to be located a block away from here in a tiny store back in the 1980’s. In the 90’s they expanded the store and grew their operations into another building. The grocery store has a airport hangar type of feeling similar to going to BJ’s or Costco. You can find almost every type of Southeast Asian food here, from fresh banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) to frozen boxes of imported squid. They also have a fresh fish market in the back. They will even descale the fish for you unlike most fish markets. This place also sell various types of Asian cookware and other household needs. Parking here can be a challenge since they have a tiny off street parking lot. The parking lot is situated at a 20 degree angle so you might want to be careful of runaway shopping carts hitting your car. Street parking is also hard to find here since you are in downtown Worcester. Overall I prefer to shop here than at the other two popular Vietnamese grocery stores in Worcester since this place has a off street parking lot.

Leona Banh Mi Menu with Prices 3250 Coors Blvd NW suite h, Albuquerque

The Tofu Banh Mi was tasty. Fresh crusty Baguette, crunchy veggies, and Tofu was thinly sliced and marinated. They offer a variety of strength in the Vietnamese coffee it came out perfectly I had no need for adjustment. They offer Military Active & Veteran, First Responder 10% discount. They have Vegan and Vegetarian options. Inside is extremely clean and customer service is 5 stars. Tiny eat in with several tables. I noticed a lot of take out / delivery action. Location while easy to get a parking spot but there’s a need to avoid potholes. The strip mall seems to have had better days but don’t let that dissuade you, It adds to the charm. I wish I lived closer I’d be here all the time.
