In a nutshell: food does not match the environment. If you are only going for drinks and the atmosphere, it should be fine, but I will say this: I know they recently opened and are holding a job fair today, so they are obviously working out some kinks. We will definitely give it another try. I’ll start out with the positives: atmosphere/decor/environment is great. It’s a cool space with lots of potential. We went for my daughter’s 18th birthday last night with a party of 12 without a prior reservation. Hostess was extremely nice and accommodating. We went upstairs to play ping pong while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. You can rent these tables by the hour and it was fun. The bowling lanes on Tuesday nights are by a first come, first serve basis for $10 per hour for up to 6 people. We put our names on the waiting list and were able to head down to our table to wait for a text telling us when the lane was available. Easy process; just have to navigate your expectations for when you want to eat versus bowl, etc. Our server was Courtney and she was very sweet, personable, and attentative. She did not hesitate to separate our checks, which is always a plus. Drinks came timely and the delivery of food was also managed well. Next, the negatives: The biggest problem here, in my opinion, is that you cannot open a single tab and then have everything you buy go onto that one tab. It is a 5-story building with items/activities for sale on each floor. I opened a tab at the bar on the first floor but then had to open another tab for ping pong and bowling on the upper floors, etc. While we played ping pong, it would have been nice to have a server check on us for refills instead of needing to walk back down to the first floor bar (or open another tab at the bar on that floor). Maybe when more staff is hired, this will be remedied? Another comment is that it was kinda warm in there, regardless of the floor we were on. My last comment, and the second biggest problem, is the food. We ordered pork rinds and chips with queso, skillet cornbread, burgers, nachos, chicken club, flatbread, and fried cauliflower. The corn bread was inedible. Tasted like a cheap, store bought mix and was soaked in grease. It was not good. This is the first time in my life I can say that I did not like pork rinds. They had absolutely no taste. The burgers, chicken club, and flatbreads were average. My son’s burger did not arrive until the rest of us were finished eating and the fried cauliflower never came. The cauliflower was taken off the bill but it would have been nice for the burger to have been comped to make up for its delay and the absent cauliflower. A complimentary dessert for the birthday girl was not offered (and it was obvious it was a birthday dinner with giant gold balloons). Hopefully, the tab situation gets fixed and the quality of food increases, but the place could be amazing.

Downtown Sporting Club – Menu with Prices – 411 Broadway, Nashville

Most of the bars on Broadway have live music, open space, and a rooftop bar. Not to say that those bars aren’t awesome, but if you’re looking to play some games while having a drink, this might be a nice change of pace. After exploring some of the bars the city has to offer, we decided to check this place out. The Downtown Sporting Club is composed of four floors: First floor – In addition to a restaurant & bar, this floor offers ping pong and corn hole. They also have a picture worthy “Nashville looks good on you” wall pictured in my review. Second floor – In addition to a bar offering alcoholic slushees, this floor includes a variety of activities to choose from. They have axe throwing, which I recommend making a reservation for, arcade games, foosball, and a “lawn” area to watch several sports games simultaneously. Third floor – This floor is for “hotel” guests so we were unable to go to this floor. Pretty cool concept nonetheless. Fourth floor – More games, but outdoors on their rooftop. The rooftop offers a view of Broadway. They also have a dance floor and photo booth inside. If you’re looking for a place to chill, I recommend this fun spot!

Toss Pizzeria & Pub Menu with Prices 11905 Bee Caves Rd #100, Austin

I haven’t been to the other location so I’m pretty new to Toss. We came in and walked through to the cashier at the far end, completely missing the host stand. No one was there and no sign so we went back to the front after being told we have to wait to be seated. We were seated quickly on a Thursday evening. My kids ran to the side where there’s ping pong, corn hole, and some other games. Even for pizza, my kids didn’t want to come in. I can’t remember the name of my pizza but I think there were feta crumbles on it. My sons got cheese pizzas and one sausage pizza. I also asked for the cauliflower crust. It was crunchy and at times way too crunchy. My pizza was a little too dry too. The kids pizzas looked and tasted great and staff was busy. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Maria was our waitress and we saw her maybe every 5 minutes filling our glasses and asking if we needed anything. She even checked in the back and would give us heads up on how much longer our pizzas would take. The gluten free crusts take a little longer to bake so keep that in mind. She was always making sure we were okay. Very kind and would love to be seated at her table again. The menu isn’t really too unique. You’ll find regular flavors and build your own. You can even order a beer for the staff in the back working hard which is another way of tipping them if you’d like. For the sports lovers, there’s a few TVs on for you. There’s also longer tables for groups as well as booths for smaller groups. Seating outside too. A little bit of advice for the restaurant: the ping pong balls tend to roll under the wall or over. You might want a tall screen above and below so the balls stay in the yard. Kids were running into the parking lot to go get them back.

Back and Forth Bar – Menu with Prices – 303 Columbia St, Vancouver

The concept of this place is awesome — ping pong, darts, and boardgames. It’s a step up from board game bars and definitely a hip and bumpin’ place to bring a group of friends. We don’t have many places like this in Vancouver! We came here last night and unfortunately when we arrived at 9:30 the sign said the next time a Ping Pong Table would be free was 10:10. When we inquired how to rent the next free table, we were told it would be after midnight. Uh, update your sign. I think we wouldn’t have even purchased drinks and ducked out to a quieter place. So, yeah, we ended up buying our drinks and only then asking about the tables, unfortunately; however, drinks were pretty decently priced – 5.75 for a pint with an awesome selection of great local craft beers on tap. The place is pretty funky, lots of long tables to bring/seat big groups or to meet some strangers; though it was pretty rough trying to find a place to sit or even stand. The tunes were mid to late 2000s hip hop/rap last night which made it a good vibe. They had some cushy couches on a raised area that had darts, so we ended up chilling and playing some darts and trying to talk however it was super loud. Overall, we were disappointed the tables were all booked and that they didn’t update their sign. Yes, yes, it WAS a Saturday night and again, the concept of this bar is good. Drinks are cheap and the crowd is bumpin’ (20s/30s). I would check out this place on a week night.. and I bet I’d probably enjoy it, but last night, trying to talk, trying to play ping pong.. trying to enjoy myself seemed impossible.

The Collection – Shared Coworking Office Space – Menu with Prices – 527 W 7th St, Los Angeles

In a time and town overcrowded with coworking options, The Collection sets itself apart by maintaining a remarkable roster of businesses, entrepreneurs, and creatives, and providing them with an exceptional environment to thrive. The space is elegant but not overdone, comfortable but not loung-y, and modern-professional without falling into any of the startup, open office/ping pong table/seven different locally brewed gluten-free IPAs on tap 24/7 trappings.

Base Camp Pong + Axe Menu with Prices 815 Ann Morrison Park Dr, Boise

I’ve heard of axe throwing bars but never really considered going to one. (Me and sharp objects have never been a good pairing, I simply have the crappiest luck with them.) But GodNephew and his wife wanted to check it out. I didn’t do any axe throwing or play any Ping-Pong playing, so this review is based on the overall experience outside of that. No reservations but we made it within opening hour so our party of 8 was seated immediately. The menu didn’t take long to come through either. It also didn’t take long for us to go through it as their food selection isn’t vast. TIP: The group expedition part of the menu does NOT require a minimum order of 4 nor does each order feed a party of 4. We were all confused as to what they meant by “these dishes are designed for parties of 4 or more.” (Seriously, they should just take that statement out.) Our server said we can just order them like a regular order for one. ANYWAY! The verdict: FRIED MAC + CHEESE: I’m not really a fan of mac and cheese anything but these looked appetizing enough for me to try. Great crunch outside, nice creaminess of the cheese and macaroni was cooked perfect. For mac and cheese lovers, this is for you. WEDGE SALAD BITES: I’ve never had one of these and it’s not something I would even think about ordering. But hanger pangs started gnawing at me, so I gave it a try. Whoa, this was surprisingly good! It was refreshing with the fresh and crispy lettuce. The blue cheese dressing and crumbles were neutralized by the bacon bits. Recommending! CRISPY PORK: Crispy, they are not. Matter of fact, no part of that dish was crispy at all. But the seasoning was on point. Wrapped in warm tortilla and topped with tomatillo sauce = YUM. But really, they shouldn’t be calling these “crispy.” It’s completely misleading. BRISKET: I got to try a bite of it from someone else’s plate. DELISH. The only issue? The veggies were undercooked. All of them were soft on the outside and tough on the inside – bad enough to be inedible. (I know, we should have said something, but we really didn’t have the luxury of time for a do-over.) FOOD: 3.5. SERVICE: 3. It wasn’t busy but had hitches finding our servers. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Private lot. Not an issue. OVERALL: 3.25. I got to take a peak at the axe throwing area and learned you can have your food and drinks brought there. There was also an instructor who can show you the ropes of axe throwing. GodNephew and wife enjoyed it. They didn’t complete the full hour, though. I figure they just got tired. TIP: They highly recommend making reservations! I noticed a DJ section situated above the floor, so it makes me wonder if this place gets poppin’ at night. They do have the area to open the floor since the bar is set right dab smack in the middle. Overall experience was above par. For curious enough people, come down and check ’em out.

Sister Louisa’s Church – Athens Menu with Prices 254 W Clayton St, Athens

Great drinks, fast service, and funky vibes all around. As some other people have said, if you’re perhaps a devout religious follower and/or easily offended, this might not be the spot for you. However if you are not either of those things, or willing to try your luck, friendly bartenders, a ping-pong table and an amazing karaoke night await you here. My personal drink recommendation is one of their mules, which are well balanced, and generously served in a pint glass (miss me with a Manhattan at a spot like this). It’s always a party here and most night of the week you can find some special event ~ EASILY one of my favorite places in Athens to worship ?

Ernie’s Pool & Darts – Menu with Prices – 815 Forest Ave, Portland

This place, like others have said, is a hidden gem in the Portland area. It’s your basic dive bar with pool, darts, ping pong, cheap beer, and classic rock. There’s nothing fancy here, but you shouldn’t be coming here if you’re looking for fancy. This place excels well in what it tries to do. This place is full of great people. I had the chance to chat with Dona for awhile. Dona is an amazing bartender. She’s down-to-earth and truly makes this place a 5-star dive bar experience. She boasts some really cheap beer ($1.50 Busch drafts) and local craft options (Gritty’s and Geary’s for $3.50). There’s also some food (pizza, meatball sub, etc) available for purchase. And they have an old-school jukebox. Dona told me she does not plan to upgrade to TouchTones, because with the old-school jukebox, you get more plays for less money. It’s full of classic rock, with a couple random country and pop albums thrown in there. And even though it’s located on Forest Ave, parking was a breeze. We got a spot literally by the front door. It beats the downtown parking scene by far. Overall, this place is great for a chill night, especially if you want to avoid the madness downtown. If you like pool, darts, ping pong, cheap beer, and classic rock, look no further!

Carom Cafe Billiards – Menu with Prices – 3402 Linden Pl, Flushing

The only problem is that there are zero girls whatsoever. JD Salinger said it best: “I like to be somewhere at least where you can see a few girls around once in a while, even if they’re only scratching their arms or blowing their noses or even just giggling or something.” Anyway, the rates here are even cheaper than they are at fat cat. This place still isn’t as good in my opinion because it doesn’t have wifi, nor the charming atmosphere. However, it is way bigger, and according to my friends, the tables are a little different (this doesn’t mean better, just different). I don’t know exactly if they serve food here, but it looks like you can get beer here? idk, i didn’t order anything. I’ve never been here at night, so I can’t comment how it is then- however during the afternoons, this place is not too busy. As I alluded to, mostly guys come here. Most of the time it’s middle aged guys, but some young ones come as well. I believe they have ping pong in the back, though I’ve never gone to go properly look. This place is probably a 15 minute walk from the 7 train, and while you can take a bus to get closer, none of the buses exactly go near it, so you’re gonna have to walk some length of the distance. Still, if you want to save money, and have business in flushing as it is, this can be a great place to go practice and have a chill hang out with friends.

Daq’s Wings & Grill Shreveport – Menu with Prices – 1935 Southern Loop, Shreveport

We stopped in at this little bar and grill while traveling from Arkansas back home to Central Louisiana. The atmosphere was nice and inviting, service was friendly. However, I only gave it 2 stars because the waitress didn’t seem to know much about the menu/food options when asked different questions, the fried pickles I ordered to go with my burger were burnt to a crisp, and the menu listed a fried egg as one of many choices to add to your burger, which I opted for but when I got my burger they had put slices of a boiled egg rather than a fried egg. The burger was good otherwise but the boiled egg in place of what should have been a fried egg, I cannot lie, was an insult! My husband ordered the open-face burger. The menu states thats all burgers are 1/2 lb patties. The open-face burger claims to be 2 patties smothered in gravy, so therefore assuming that this is going to be 2-1/2 lb patties. He even asked the waitress if it was and she said yes that all of their burgers were good size patties, showing him an example with her hands. Well just another disappointment, it must have been 1/2 a lb of meat divided into 2 patties. We were not not satisfied at all and will not likely stop in for a visit if/when passing through this area again.

GrannyWeavs Soul Food & Catering – Menu with Prices – 200 W P St, Lincoln

We stopped in tonight for the first time, though they do catering and delivery. We got the “2 Can Dine”, which is fried chicken, 3 kinds of meat and 2 sides. We got tips, brisket, pork, chicken thighs, cole slaw and mac & cheese. The tips, brisket, pork and cole slaw were all ok. There’s a lot of good bbq in town to compete with. We LOVED the mac & cheese. Where Grannyweaves shines is the fried chicken. Good looooord, that fried chicken. The chicken was juicy. The skin was crispy. It fell off the bone. Grannyweaves is worth an out of the way trip just for this fried chicken. Goodbye forever KFC. Raising Cane’s looks pathetic next to this stuff. We will be back for the chicken. We’d like to try the spicy cauliflower and a few other items on the menu we were curious about, too. They have great meal deals to choose from. We give 4 stars overall, but 5 for the chicken. Go for the chicken!!! **UPDATE on 10/11/18** This is a small, local business, and it appears lately, through the restaurant’s Facebook page, that the owner is struggling. He has been closing and opening the restaurant according to when he can make it in, so hours are not regular. I would still recommend a trip for the fried chicken, just check the restaurant Facebook page first.
