I will begin with saying I have been to PBS a few times. Most times the drinks, staff, and food are good. OK, so why the 1 star rating? I went there recently with some friends. We work an early shift and by 2pm we have worked a full day and are ready for a few drinks. All sounds good, right? A few people ready for drinks at a place that has alcohol, pool, darts, arcade games, and a ridiculously big version or foosball… well, it all started so quickly… friends went to the bar and I made a quick trip to the restroom. Isaac, the bartender helped everyone, and when I walked up it was my turn. Well, at least it should have been. Isaac instead of helping me walked around the otherwise empty bar and didn’t help me. I stood there for several minutes waiting, then another group walked up. He helped them and not me. Odd… since I was there still waiting. After helping the other group, he walked around the bar again with no real purpose. He finally came to help me. I made the mistake of asking for something off menu for a drink. Wow! Was that a bad idea! It was SO bad, but I decided that since I had asked for something special I would drink this nasty drink. Did I mention that Isaac seemed like he would rather have his nails pulled out with pliers than help anyone? No? So weird. His super downer attitude was a real turn off. So we left the bar. We went to play games, and again made the mistake of talking to a staff member for something else. The waitress there also seemed like she would rather be anyplace else than at the bar and ANYTHING other than helping us. Again, what a downer. Since I work in a customer service environment, I thought it would be helpful to fill out a customer comment. Again, mistake…. oh boy! What a mistake! A manager came up and spoke to me. I don’t remember his name, but he was not the GM. He did not introduce himself when he walked up. Did not ask how he could help. He just walked up and stood there till we spoke to him. (Weird) I told him about our experience, and that we were leaving quickly due to the bummer attitude we were getting from the staff. I should mention at this point I had already paid my tab. I was not asking for anything for free. I was not asking for a discount for next time. I was simply trying to help. If I was getting this vibe, I can’t be the only one. I’m sure other people had this experience and they just left and would not return. So, the manager said all the right things like, oh I’m sorry, and I will talk with him, but his attitude was very condescending. I know he was just saying what he was saying to get us to leave. What a dick. I know I will not be back to PBS. I also know that I will tell everyone I talk to that this place doesn’t give a flying fuck about their customers happiness. They just want your money. I know now that there are much better places for much better food and drink at the domain. Like culinary dropout. I will be there next time. **update** I received a message from the owner with an apology and request to message my name and number to contact me directly. I did so and heard nothing in return. This place is the worst!!!

The Centennial Club – Menu with Prices – 1410 Austin Ave, McAllen

We recently had an early dinner upstairs with good friends but have had several great experiences at The Centennial. We always make reservations no matter the day of the week. Suggest you call, not do online. Isaac is always the perfect host and we enjoy his company and conversation when he joins us for drinks and/or dinner. Our last two visits were our best ever because Isaac prepared a ‘tasting’ experience to die for. We experienced unique and flavorful recipes like no other restaurant in McAllen. Holy Smokes drink is amazing and fun. Good wines. Cigar box salmon fabulous. Tiny tacos are all wonderful. We loved the several course meal of small plates as opposed to one large plated entrée. The building itself has great atmosphere unique to McAllen restaurants and we enjoy the live music upstairs when it is background to our conversation. Our experience has always included attentive service. This is not Isaac’s first rodeo – we still talk about the good times we had at Espana.

Movita Juice Bar – Menu with Prices – 25906 McBean Pkwy, Santa Clarita

Unfortunately I was really disappointed with the service at this new location. I’ve payed my visits to reseda and northridge often. Never had an issue drinks always taste the same. But for some reason my meal replacement just taste off at this place. I’ve gotten it a few times and it has a taste just not completely bad but it’s not good either. I’ve asked to have it remade, got some attitude and still the drink was just off. The last time I came in I asked for the manager I mean I keep paying 6 bucks for a drink that everywhere else is so good and this place can’t get it right. When I ask to talk to the manager the kids up front looking at me confused. They go out back I guess to talk to who ever is in charge and no one comes out they just offer to remake it or refund me. Found that unprofessional. It gets busy these kids are running like chicken with out heads and no control over what’s going on. Needs better management, someone needs to over look what is being served. I’m sure the other locations are better than here for now I’m done with this place.

The Times at S&W Menu with Prices 56 Patton Ave, Asheville

The bar has a warm, inviting, chill atmosphere. I went for the first time when my dad was visiting from out of town. We were just looking for a nice place to have a drink and talk. It was perfect. It wasn’t crowded and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. My drink was delicious and didn’t taste like anything I had ever had before. I went back again a couple months later and had another excellent experience. The staff member who helped us was really nice and attentive. I like the look of the place, sort of industrial meets elegant meets eclectic. I highly recommend it.

The Market at Bonton Farms – Menu with Prices – 6907 Bexar St, Dallas

I have been to this establishment 3 times now. The other two visits here were perfect. However, every time I’ve been in this establishment there has always been one employee that seemed to have a bad attitude. I have yet to deal with her until yesterday’s visit but it was as expected from seeing her attitude the past two times I had been there. She did not greet us, when I spoke to her it was not a warm welcome indicative of this usually warm location. We ordered our food and I sat ourselves business as usual despite the attitude from the staff. About 5-7 minutes passed and we hadn’t been given our coffee or water. This was surprising as it wasn’t busy at all. Any who I kindly asked the lady if it was ok if we got our drinks and her response was “you’ll get it when I make it. That’s right.” And then she kind of started backsliding in her tone and the manager heard the lack of respect she was showing the customer and tried to come over to get my coffee but I had had it by then and walked back to the table to talk with my family while the employee continued making fun of me with another customer. When I heard her making fun of me went directly to the manager and asked for my money back. As a Marine Veteran I have never felt so unwelcome. This is definitely a case where the bad apple has spoiled the bunch. I’d love to come back and give another review but I will not be there so long as the negativity is infecting all of the positivity I have witnessed before.

Kanpai of Toyko – Menu with Prices – 533 Haywood Rd, Greenville

WORTH THE LONG READ. PLEASE SHARE. I had an awful experience at Kanpai of Tokyo on Haywood road this past Saturday. I donâ??t frequent the restaurant. I went because it was my grandsonâ??s birthday. I chose not to sit at the table because I wasnâ??t going to eat. I did however, go to the bar an ordered a drink. I asked the bartender if I could open a tab. She told me that I could just come back and back later. As I was walking back to order another drink she informed me that the assistant manager said that I needed to pay now. So, I sat down at the bar to order my drink. A different guy bartender was there. He walked back and forth for about 5-10 minutes before I finally asked him if he could help me. He told me that I had to wait for the other bartender to come back. I watched him make several drinks before I finally asked him why couldnâ??t he make my drink. He asked me very sarcastically…. what do you want? Of course, I told him. As he was bringing my drink to me I asked him for an orange slice. He then exhaled like it was his last breath. I asked for my check so that I could pay and get out of there. Meanwhile, my son came to the bar to order a drink. When he tried to get his attention, he walked away. I told my son that the guy already had an attitude with me. My son asked the guy what was the problem with serving us. He then hollered… I DONâ??T HAVE A PROBLEM. Iâ??M NOT SERVING YOU… CALL THE POLICE!…. Iâ??m like wtw. You have an attitude and you want to call the police on us! The assistant manager came over saying that they were calling the police and we need to leave because they were not going to serve us. I asked what did she witness that would warrant her to call the police. Then she hollers at me…. PAY FOR YOUR DRINKS AND LEAVE! Which I had done long before she walked up to the bar. OMG you already know that it went south after that. A lot of cursing and I am ready to go to blows with both of them. The manager came over to assess the situation and eventually served my son his drinks.. . This is one of many situations where the police are called for no apparent reason. Our situation could have played out differently. Innocent people have lost there lives to due to misuse of the police force. My money may not break them but it sure wonâ??t make them. I ask that you do the same. Despite what you think of them, recognize what they think of you. Remember that the next time could be you or your family member. #blacklivesmatter #notmymoney . MIYABI NEXT TIME!

Molly Ramen?Poke?Tea – Menu with Prices – 869 Lynnhaven Pkwy #109, Virginia Beach

This location had $1.99 Milk Tea specials on Wednesdays so this was an opportunity to try it out. When you walk in, you place your order on a tablet. It’s very user friendly and it allows you to customize your order. I was with my family that included kids so we customized their drinks to no sugar for them. Since we knew it was going to take a while to get our order, we played some board games in the waiting area that was provided. The restaurant is spacious and clean. They offer poke bowls where you can see the toppings you want through the glass (think of Subways) as well as Ramen bowls. I noticed it was one guy making the drinks as well helping customers at the counter. They seemed to be understaffed but hey we are chilling so really no rush. Finally our drinks are ready! Sooo…. this is where it went downhill. Our drinks were all mixed up! The label that said NO sugar definitely had it. The label with the taro drink had the mocha drink in it and etc. The boba amount was very stingy that one of the drinks had literally 5 boba pieces in it. Because my 2 year old niece don’t need any sugar as requested, we asked if they can remake it because it was too sweet. Even at their mistake they made us pay for a new drink. The guy was going to remake it for free but the other staff lady maybe the “owner” said something in their language and said we would need to pay…sheeesh horrible customer service at its finest! At $1.99 that is what it’s really worth. It tasted like flavored milk, no strong tea notes, bubbles were a little too hard, and just overall not good so I’m glad we didn’t pay the full amount. My sister went back the next week with her kids and their friends and the Wednesday special is now $2.99, maybe due their popularity. But since kids don’t know any better on quality and taste, it’s a cheaper way to get them boba teas.

J. Christopher’s Menu with Prices 3070 Windward Plaza, Alpharetta

Service is horrible! Don’t come here for a quick lunch. We called ahead for a group of 13 for 12:00. We got there and the restaurant was 98% empty. It took about 5 minutes for someone to come to the front and ask if we’ve been helped. We told her no but we had called ahead, she says she’ll be right back. She didn’t come back for another 5 minutes. When she came back she told us they wanted to seat us in the back room but another party had just left and they were cleaning. Another 5-10 minutes later and we were finally seated. Why couldn’t they have just moved several empty tables together? We didn’t care about being in a separate room. We were sat with no menus. Two people in the group went to ask for menus. Another 5 minutes waiting for menus and the waitress disappears without asking if we need anything or taking our drink orders. Took a while for her to come back for our drink orders. We made sure to put in our food order while we had the chance. Our drinks didn’t come for another 15 minutes. Someone in my party walked over to the manager and asked where our drinks were. His response was “one drink broke and we had to remake all of them.” ……what does that mean? At least come tell us it’s going to be a while. We didn’t get our drinks until we had been here for 35 minutes. I don’t understand why more people didn’t help the one waitress. She brought our food two plates at a time and slowly. Finally near the end the manager helped. We had to ask for refills.

HICCUPS TEA HOUSE – Menu with Prices – 2233 N Tustin St #C, Orange

This is a to-go review too. I recall in December (7 months ago) seeing a sign “Hiccups coming soon!” I thought, man.. this is a pretty good location right next to Target (or as the french say LE TAR-JEYYY). Anyways… I digress. Every month I’d pass by and think (oh I’ll go check it out..) but every month it was still under construction. 1) If you order by phone over like $25, they will need your credit card info to process your to go order (I’ve never seen this too often). My wife was caught off guard by this and was driving when she was trying to put out an order. Well, she’s part of their club group and so she received a text/email for a bogo deal on pho noodles. For Pho with (filet mignon) beef and meatballs, the order came out to be $11 something for one bowl (luckily we had a coupon). The filet mignon was very soft and tender (and juicy). The meatball and soup was alright. The popcorn chicken with fries was about $8. The popcorn chicken is a decent deal. They layered the to go container with fries on bottom (crispy string fries) and on top was a layer of popcorn chicken. It’s your standard run of the mill popcorn chicken (on the salty asian side). Taste wise it wasn’t too bad. We also ordered some boba drinks. I was surprised how much just a regular drink costs. They were already around $4.50 for a regular drink. Inflation is a big downer these days. I guess I’m aging and remember the days when a boba drink cost $3.50. To their defense, it seems you can get a large for like 25 more cents (weird). Well, I did get to try the 3 drinks we ordered: Chamoy Mango. Do not get this. It’s alot of chamoy and very salty. Maybe it was an off day but my wife ordered this for herself and was VERY disappointed. Probably a 1 star drink. The Thai Iced tea I ordered was okay. Standard drink. The boba was alright too. Not hard which is good and soft enough to enjoy.. My neice bought a taro tea slushy. That was the best drink of the 3. If I go back, I would get this for myself. I think I might go back to get popcorn chicken with fries.

The Tin Can – Menu with Prices – 644 Migaldi Ln #7758, Lansing

Decided to meet my sisters for a drink on an afternoon. The place just opened for the day (3:00pm). We walked in with what looked like a group of 3 regulars who sat at the bar. Anyways the female bartender acted really wishy washy about drinks and prices. She wouldn’t tell us what we owed and just would say $10.00 should cover it or something to that liking. My one sister paid for her drink and never got the change. Just weird to me. Why wouldn’t she just say ‘that will be $4.50 or whatever’? Let us know the price and we can decide the tip ourselves. I always tip but don’t like it when someone is sly about the price and keeps the change without asking. Seating is only at the bar or high top tables.

Muto lzakaya Restaurant Menu with Prices 105 E Chestnut St, Bellingham

I still can’t believe what happened tonight. Our server made a mistake and brought out a wrong dish. I ordered a poke SALAD, but he brought out a poke BOWL. I didn’t noticed the error until I saw the bill. I pointed that out to the server, assuming that he would just correct the mistake (so that I would pay for what I ordered rather than when he brought out by mistake). The server was apologetic but kept saying there’s nothing they could do to fix it. His manager came out and told me the same thing but WITH AN ATTITUDE. I’m Japanese and I hate any kind of confrontation especially in public. I was with my son and his friend’s family even, but I’m not naive enough to pay extra for a mistake the server made. Anyway, it was still so embarrassing for me to “argue” with the manger. At a normal restaurant in the US, THEY will apologize for having made a mistake and promptly correct the mistake. I just could not believe why they had to make such a big deal out of a small mistake their server made. The manager finally said to me “Next time when there’s a mistake, tell us before you eat it, OK?” in a very condescending manner. He unwillingly corrected the mistake, brought back the corrected bill, STUCK it out in front of my face, and said “Are you happy now?” It then all made perfect sense to me why the server started sweating PROFUSELY when he realized he’d made a mistake. His manager is a big A**HOLE! First and foremost, I recommend that you do not work here as a server. Second, please do not support a business where the management intimidates their employees or their customers. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” so that I can improve my future reviews. Canal Lounge – Menu with Prices – 22 Atwater Ave, Montreal

I live across the canal and have come to this place on 3 separate occasions with out of town guests. Selection is minimal but it’s fine. I went in a group of 4 last night. We had finished dinner and thought it would be nice to have a nightcap so we mosied on over. The outdoor spots were taken but being a Sunday night, there was only one other couple on the boat so we took a seat inside. The boat does have an odor but it’s tolerable. My 3 other guests ordered a drink and I perused the menu but didn’t feel like ordering one at that moment. i told our server i’m ok for now. A few minutes go by and when they were ready to bring our drinks over, the bartender calls across the boat. “You aren’t ordering a drink?” I said in a bit but i’m ok for now. He responds: “Who comes to a bar and doesn’t order anything?!” This took me completely by surprise and I didn’t know if he was joking, as my back was to the bar, my brother had witnessed them discussing it and looking like they had attitude so he said. Why would you give her attitude when we’re all ordering drinks? We all thanked them and walked out. This bartender was extremely rude and i will never return to this place. I could have been a designated driver, or pregnant. It was extremely disappointing and have never been treated like this at any establishment. He clearly needs some training in customer service.

Walter Burke Catering – Menu with Prices – 1209 Calle de Comercio, Santa Fe

We used WBC for our wedding in Santa Fe this past weekend and they were nothing short of incredible. Actually, the entire planning process has been seamless. We worked with Angela Reece, and she is incredible responsive with emails, and she was great and patient with me through all of my changes! In fact, she helped immensely when I started to panic with prices, and she helped me out so much aweigh explaining and helping to craft a day that would fit our budget and still be amazing. And then on the wedding day, Walter Burke was simply amazing. At the end of the night I tried to shake every servers hand I could find to thank them for how wonderful it was and how much I appreciated their positive energy, attitude, and attentiveness! Susan, one of the captains, was incredible and made sure everything was perfect!! They also worked well with my family when setting up decor. All in all, everything turned out way better than I could have ever expected, the food was AMAZING, and it was all because of WBC. I recommend them to anyone in the area, a couple of my friends were asking if they did events in Texas!! That’s when you know it’s good. This company is amazing and make every experience personal and intimate. I can’t thank them all enough!!!
