This review is long over due. We started coming to Primal Cuts only about 6 months ago and since then we have been there almost every other week. Of course, from the name, you probably get that this is a MEAT place! What has surprised me the most? Their soup. Unique, DELICIOUS and they change it often. We have not been disappointed or oversalted yet! The greatest thing about this place is you can get a delicious meal (torta and turkey sandwhich are my two favorites), have a taphouse in the same location and then when you are finished, grab some great quality meat to go. During the summer the market next door is open to grab some veggies and fruits to go with that meat. They have more than just some cuts of meat, they have marinated meat, sausages, kebobs, charcuterie, etc. It is very clean. You usually bus your own table, but most of the time they will grab it and then as soon as you leave they are wiping down tables. They are amazingly consistent, nice and knowledgeable. The only negatives and they are minor are: 1. there isn’t much parking, 2. there is one lady who works there who is quite rude, but she doesn’t dampen my mood when I get their delicious food! and 3. limited waiting area if you are ordering to go. I HIGHLY suggest this place.

Barbarossa Pizza & Kebabs – Menu with Prices – 1460 Whalley Ave, New Haven

I feel like I was in the Twilight Zone tonight at Barbarossa. I was so excited to try it upon reading all of the other five star reviews! I mean, super eclectic menu: part diner, part pizza, part sandwiches, part Italian… but for me it was the Kebobs that brought me in the door. There aren’t many places in America to get a proper doner kebob. Barbarossa mushes the various terminologies together and equates the vertical seasoned meat rotisserie of doner kebob (Turkish), gyro (Greek), and shawarma (Arab). I was prepared to let that slide once I saw the glorious rotating meat from the front door. But let’s talk about the decor for a minute. Who… why… what exactly are we going for here? It may have been okay for Spooners, but can we get a style consultant in here please? And what a terrible use of floor space. What, are we supposed to dance in here or something? Back to the kebobs, without getting too personal, I’ve been to the mountaintop, eating authentic street kebobs across Europe, in Greece, and Turkey. It’s about time we got a kebob shop in the area. Here’s the thing. It takes literally 60 seconds to make a doner kebob. A kebob shop near a University at 1am on a Saturday night will serve dozens and dozens of kebobs in the same 30 minutes that my daughter and I sat in an otherwise near empty restaurant (8pm) staring at the slow turning rotisserie and waiting for someone to plop some sliced meat and salad in a pita. You’ve got a lot of great reviews, Barbarossa, and now you’ve got one bad one. I’m still rooting for you, but you messed up tonight. Not the waitress, but rather the kitchen and management. I ordered two doner kebobs in pita and you gave me wraps after a very unreasonable wait time considering the lack of customers in the restaurant. You came over and asked how it was, and I told you it tasted okay but my order was wrong and I was shocked by the long wait. You didn’t apologize, offer to remake the kebab, or even a simple gesture like comping my daughter a cookie or something. If my kebobs arrived as I ordered them and in half the time, I might’ve given you four stars, but you lost two stars for poor service tonight.

Joseph’s Finest Meats – Menu with Prices – 7101 W Addison St, Chicago

First time going here but definitely won’t be the last! Reasonable prices, homemade sausages and excellent meats tailored to your specification by knowledgeable staff, that’s just the beginning! There’s also a deli, frozen prepared foods and grocery items plus how you’re treated here. It was crowded when I arrived, yet the staff took time to greet me, converse with me, orient me to all they had to offer, and answer any and all questions. On top of that, My bags were carried for me and I was escorted to the door, despite the others waiting. You don’t see attentive, respectful, and gentlemanly behavior like this anywhere. I’d come back for that alone but the fair pricing, yummy homemade sausages, specialty items, and hand-trimmed cuts of meat?!? I have found my new favorite store! Come visit Joseph’s, you’ll be glad you did!

The Butchery Quality Meats – Menu with Prices – 103 E 17th St, Costa Mesa

This review is solely on their cheese and cured meat. I love coming here when I’m in the mood to make my own charcuterie board. Since this place is down the street from my boyfriend’s and we’re too lazy to venture out to the nearest wholefoods, we’ll come out here. They have a wide selection of cheese and cured meat at a wide range of prices. You can pick and choose what you want and how much. I personally like coming here and getting about 3-4 different meats (1/4 pound or sometimes I’ll even ask for certa certain amount of slices ie. 15 slices etc) and like 2-3 types of cheese at about 1/8 – 1/4 pound. Kinda depends on what I’m in the mood for and which cheese I like. The workers are super patient and are totally open to helping you out as much as possible. I’ll come here and ask to have a sample of everything before I choose. I’m indecisive and trying a bunch of combinations, they’ll even recommend some of their favorite selections! I’ll leave here with a nice charcuterie board of selection. The cured meat usually will run me between ~$3 – ~$7 since we get a small portion and the cheese will go for ~$5 – ~$7, which in my opinion isn’t bad. We get to choose how much and try a bunch whole were looking.

Deli & Butcher – Menu with Prices – 4165 Corporate Square, Naples

We have been coming down to Naples during the winters for the past 3 years.Peppers offers high quality cold cuts and their home made sausages are great. The Hungarian sausage is equal to any I have had.(I am of Hungarian origin).Cold cuts are plentiful with good variety and from quality European makers.Their hot food at lunch is also excellent. From Wiener schnitzel to roasted chicken the offerings are hearty. There are a few tables in the shop where you can dine but you are basically right in the middle of the store so itâ??s not intimate dining. One thing is that their prices have increased quite a bit during the past couple of years. In particular, the imported chocolate and other dry items are somewhat pricy.Make sure you sample everything you are considering buying.I wish we had such an excellent European style deli shop in the Twin Cities.

Game Theory Board Game Lounge – Menu with Prices – 804 S Main St, Fort Worth

We found ourselves in unknown territory looking for lunch, so I whipped out my phone to see what Yelp suggested nearby. Game Theory was highly rated, not expensive, and had a menu my husband could get on board with. Yay! The trifecta of requirements had been met. I didn’t read the reviews before coming, I just looked at the star ratings, so I didn’t realize until we were in the door that this place is where you come to play board games. This was a wonderful surprise. We arrived early on Sunday, so we were seated right away and our server asked us a few questions to assess our interest in games, drink and food. Even though food was our primary purpose, we let him suggest a game for us. He explained Onitama to us, and then he quickly got us started playing while he went to fetch our drinks and food. We really enjoyed playing the game and did two rounds. I would come back just to learn more games and have fun playing. Our game Onitama was sort of a simplified version of chess, but the game fits nicely on a table for two while still allowing room for food. Drink holders are attached to the edge of the table to keep the game play area clear of accidental spills, but easily accessible for swigs. This place quickly got busy with all of the tables filling up. There is a little pager on the table that you can use to call a server, (any server) to order more stuff or cash out. Thankfully it is a small, unassuming device with NO annoying flashing advertisements like some chain restaurants (Olive Garden & Chili’s). Whichever server is available will come to your table to help you out, so you don’t have to wait until your assigned server is free. We used it to get drink refills and to pay our bill. I really liked this because it allows you to stay and play and continue to order until your ready to leave. There is a full service bar. Wine choices were limited, but several microbrewery beers were available. They also had a few specialty cocktails on the menu. If no tables are available, you can belly up to the bar and drink until something opens up. We came for the food and ended up sampling a mini pork pot pie, charcuterie plate with sausage, cheese, mustard, nuts, and berries, as well as some Thai chicken. The pot pie was hard to cut and share with only a fork and no knife. The charcuterie sausages were already sliced which made it easy to pick at during game play. The food was decent and priced right. Mostly meaty options on the menu. Vegetarians probably won’t be too happy. This place seems to be a great place to come whether you are doing date night, hanging out with friends, or visiting family. It was easy to find, and we were able to score free street parking directly in front of the establishment. I wish there was a Game Theory in my city, but I wouldn’t hesitate to stop by again the next time I’m in Ft. Worth.

Blue Danube Sausage House – Menu with Prices – 3090 Lenworth Dr, Mississauga

I heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to stop in over my lunch to grab some sausages for dinner. It’s located on Chauncey, which is just off Islington (south of Bloor) – an industrial-type street. They have enough parking for about five cars (I think) right at the front but there’s ample street parking as well. I was kind of surprised when I went in because it’s quite small. There were only three people working there at the time so I had to wait a little bit but, no big deal, I wasn’t in a hurry. I was served by the older lady and, honestly, I wished the blonde guy had of served me because he was so friendly that I could have asked him for some suggestions on smoked sausages – maybe next time I’ll talk to him. Anyway, I ended up getting three Double Garlic sausages and one Hot Hungarian, which, by the way, when grilled and coupled with Dimpflmeier’s hot dog buns, were out of this world – we’re definitely going to get them again as they were exceptional! Better than anything at St. Lawrence Market. Really, really that good! Since a lot of people were coming in for the schnitzel sandwich, I decided to try one too. The piece of schnitzel itself was only $5.00; however, the (small) sandwich was $7.00 and I had to pay extra for pickles but I’m not sure if I got charged extra for the garlic mayonnaise. I don’t really quite understand how they can justify charging $2.00 for a Kaiser bun and charging extra for some pickles but, anyhow, it’s not like I have Hungarian schnitzel everyday. The entire bill (four sausages and the sandwich) came to just under $20.00. As for the schnitzel sandwich, I was a little disappointed because I expected the meat to be hot (not room temperature). The small sandwich was so HUGE that I could only eat half and I was extremely full afterwards. I liked the combination of the garlic mayonnaise and the kosher dills; the Kaiser bun was nice quality – very fresh. I’m still on the fence with the schnitzel itself though – maybe because it wasn’t hot. Nevertheless, it wasn’t greasy but, not like I’m an aficionado on schnitzel, still I’ve had better. I gave my husband the other half; he ate it for “breakfast” the next morning and thought it was outstanding. He went on and on about how great it was and how quickly he ate it and wished there were more! I definitely plan to return in the near future so I can try and assortment of the smoked sausages and more of those Hot Hungarians!

Baseline Taphouse – Menu with Prices – Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Kissimmee

This was such a pleasant experience, tucked away towards the back of the park. I arrive just after 12:00 p.m. and found that there were only a few people already seated at the tables near the bar. I was able to quickly order a beer and a cheese & charcuterie plate, all reasonably priced (by Disney standards) with the entire tab being about $21. I got a nice seat at the counter looking out at the patio and people walking in the streets. The food was good, a nice snack to have while your sipping on the some beer and just re-energizing from the heat and humidity outside. Directly outside you can see goofy and the line of people queued up to take pictures with him. It’s just on the other side of the commissary and a little tough of find with the construction going on in the park right now but definitely worth it. The bar started to fill up just about 15 minutes after I sat down to start eating. They have a nice outdoor patio with several tables, one table for 8 inside, along with several “counter” seats along the windows – definitely my choice given there is air conditioning. I chose an inside counter seat in the air conditioning for obvious reasons in the dead of summer in Florida. The charcuterie plate was tasty and just the right amount of savory for the beer that I had with it. It came with some Pepperoni, salami, red grapes, small pickles, a few pieces of crostini, goat cheese, blue cheese and another hard cheese that I’m not sure what it was, perhaps Harvati? This is probably big enough for people to share but since I was traveling solo I ate it all myself. I’d definitely come back since the rest of the food options in Hollywood Studios is understatedly subpar to the food in any other park.

Pacific Buffet – Menu with Prices – 2475 Chastain Meadows Pkwy NW, Marietta

My friend and I try to grab lunch together at least once a week, and we tend to find a buffet where we have a variety and be able to sit down, enjoy a meal, and chat. This one tops the list out of the many that we have tried in the surrounding area (believe me… we have tried a lot!!). The place is huge in comparison to some of the other ones. Tere was American cuisine (pizza, fries, wings, etc), Asian cuisine (different chk dishes, noodles. Fried rice, soups, etc), Japanese cuisine (all different kind of sushi). The fries were absolutely cooked to perfection, the pizza had a good ratio of dough to toppings, the noodles were flavorful, the soup was just ok (not my favorite, had better from other places). I didn’t try any of the sushi because it just didn’t seem fresh to me. The color of the fish was off, so I didn’t want to risk it and get a stomach ache. Then to finish our meal with delicious ice cream!! I mixed my flavors and got cookies ‘n cream with mint chocolate chip . Wish I had room for more ice cream!! The staff was attentive, always there to refill our waters and take our dirty plates. Very polite!! The place isn’t spotless, but the tables were clean and no food dropping all over the ground. However, I did find it weird that the 2 servers we had were sitting at the table next to us having lunch. It didn’t bother me that they were eating (they’re people too, but it’s the perception that bothered me)… but eating while working? Dont they get a lunch break? And do they not have a break room where they can eat in peace instead of taking a bite (more like scruffing down their food) and having to go clean tables and refill the customer’s drinks? Seems weird to me â?â?. This is probably the reason I gave it a 2 stars, you’re in the service industry; dont be scruffing down your food in front of me!! Do that in the back, out of the customer’s view!!! I just dont want to see you licking your fingers, wiping your mouth then come pour me water. At least go wash your hands first!!

Dunarea Restaurant Menu with Prices 821 N Euclid St, Anaheim

If you’re interested in trying a different cuisine, check out Dunarea, a Romanian restaurant. Some of the dishes that we ordered were: -Eggplant salad: This is an eggplant spread with onions. Overall, it was really good! I definitely recommend ordering this. However, I was disappointed in the cold bread rolls. Maybe in Romanian culture they eat their dip with cold rolls, but it would have been nice if they were warmed up. -Skinless sausages/mititei: This dish comes with 3 sausages and a side of french fries. You’re supposed to dip the sausages in mustard, a combination that I wasn’t used to. The sausages were a little too salty for my taste. Fries were good tho! -Lamb pastrami: This dish comes with marinated lamb and cornmeal. The lamb was good, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the cornmeal. 4 stars because the service was excellent and the wait staff were warm and friendly.

CAFÃ? LARA – Menu with Prices – 2347 Agricola St, Halifax

Friendly staff nice clean modern atmosphere. The big windows that open in the front make the whole place very open and bright. The coffee was legit delicious!! There were little baguette sandwiches with brie cheese that looked delicious! Quiche and a few sweet selections would make a great snack. They also seemed to have a great smoothie selection. Wifi seemed fast and consistent. There was also a selection of wine and I didn’t see what was included in the taps but there was a liquor licence posted so they at least serve wine in the evenings, I didn’t see a menu for that so I may have been there too early. It was a bit crowded when I for there at 11am but there were tables available 15 or 20 minutes in. There were several seating options. Lower dining style and comfy chairs as well as tall bar height tables and counter seating at the window and bar area. Recommended.

Veronica J. Ortega – Menu with Prices – 2311 W Burbank Blvd A, Burbank

I’ve had my hair done by Veronica several times. She is such a skilled stylist. She takes the time to really understand what you want and always goes above and beyond. She’s a perfectionist and sincerely cares about her clients. Her cuts are very modern and her color… just THE BEST. I trust her completely. She definitely tailors cuts and color to my lifestyle. I’m a lazy girl who won’t be coming in for regular touch ups and my color looks so beautiful even when it’s grown out. Apart from her skill, Veronica is hilarious and sweet. I always leave her chair in the best mood.

Umi Kitchen and Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 1309 W Summit Pkwy, Spokane

Showed up during the dinner rush with a reservation and we were instantly shown to the only empty table in the restaurant, no waiting as has been the case with other places I have made reservations. As others have said the service was a little slow at first, and the amount of noise along with the close proximity of tables made a soft spoken conversation between me and my party all but impossible. Once our order was taken the service was great and consistent, and our first rolls of sushi showed up within 5 minutes of ordering. The fish was fantastic, each roll I tried had a unique flair and their sashimi and nigiri “chefs choice” combo was an awesome selection of fish, not just all the cheap cuts as I have seen at other restaurants. My only real complaint is that it wasn’t entirely clear looking at the menu what was and wasn’t spicy, and I accidentally ordered a roll that was much too hot for me. If you have a medical condition that requires you not eat anything spicy make sure you ask before you order!
