It’s the first rainy weekend after summer so we were looking for something fun to do indoors. Kids 10 & 12. Both like games. We remembered driving by a place called Portal VR Lounge where the old tack shop used to be. We had been kinda curious and were feeling up for a new adventure – so off we went! We didn’t tell the kids where we were going so it would be a surprise. They are prevailing guess was that we were going swimming… When we pulled up, and the kids figured out what we were about to do, they were both over the moon! And Wow! This was such a good call! What a cool place! I was a little worried it would be a den of super geek techy gamers and I would feel out of place. But it was totally the opposite. There were definitely some serious gamers in there, but there were also people in their 60s, several kids as young as 8, a birthday party for kids around 12, a few dads and kiddos playing together… It was all ages, family friendly and it was set up to be accessible and easy to learn for everyone. We booked a 90 minute session so all four of us could share the booth to get our feet wet and learn how the system worked. But time blew by so quickly that we grownups just let the kids split the time and take 45 minutes each. I’m glad we did it that way. It would have been pretty short to try and learn the controls of a game (3-5 min) and play it for 15-20 minutes and then have to switch. So definitely 45-min per person is the shortest session I would book if you are new to it and need any time for learning curve. With that said, next time, we would get two booths because the kids each got bored watching the other play. I think two booths for 90 minutes would allow four players to take turns and each get 45 minutes and that should be pretty fun. Ultimately once you get into these games, 90 minutes would blow by like nothing! Time flies when you’re having fun! Our son got to play Spider-Man Far From Home and our daughter got to play Job Simulator. We got to see what they were seeing in their VR headset on a screen right outside the booth. There was reasonably comfortable seating and a bit of a concession stand set up. Each kid got some ice cream while the other played. The staff did a great job helping us get set up. They were very attentive and rushed over whenever we needed help with a control or got stuck on anything. The kids had a blast. We all yelled things like “web him!” And “throw the slurpee!” Really fun. At the end, all of us took turns doing both the plank and the glider experiences. Those are little add-ons that I would highly recommend! The plank is absolutely terrifying! If you don’t like heights, be prepared to weep like a baby. :-). Honestly it was so scary only three out of our four made it the whole way through. I’m not going to say who chickened out but my thumbs are pointing at her right now. I challenge you to do better! The glider was amazing and both my husband and I said we could fly around on that thing all day. I must be honest, though. I get a little bit motion sick and the glider definitely flipped that switch for me. I felt a bit woozy for about 45 minutes. Very worth it though. Truly felt like I was flying. They set you on a suspended platform lying as if you are in a hang-glider, and they blow a fan on your face so there is some very realistic air-rush sensation happening in that ride. The best part of the day was as we walked out, our son said, “This was so much better then going swimming. This was actually a dream come true!” The owner overheard him say this and beamed at us as we walked out. Definitely a sign of a great business and a great business owner – – true joy at the sight of your customers having an amazing experience. The entire experience (about 2.5 hours) cost about the same as the four of us going to a movie and getting all the dumb snacks that you pay for there. But VR was longer, more interactive for us all, and more participation in the a

DIGI SKOPE Cyber Lounge – Menu with Prices – 5944 Warner Ave, Huntington Beach

New place, the place is extremely nice! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a gaming store like this. Gamers in the area can socialize and bring friends to play in the same place which can create a much better atmosphere for gamers. Rates are very reasonable for the area and for the type of computers. Computers are very high end and which makes a huge difference and a lots of since for gamers. You can literally play whatever you like on these high end computers.

Reboot Retrocade & Bar – Menu with Prices – 566 Cherry St, Macon

Cool place. Great collection of arcade games from the 80s with the soundtrack playing in the background. And they sell alcohol! We took our kids here on a Saturday afternoon (I think it goes to 21 and over after 6pm). It was not crowded. The games run on arcade tokens and most games are 1 token play. My kids, 7 and 12, had a blast learning how to play “real” video games where you have a joystick, a fire button and not much else. And my wife and SIL got into a Frogger competition. My only complaint…I couldn’t find Tempest.

Café Au Plait – Menu with Prices – 10405 E McDowell Mountain Ranch Rd Suite 100, Scottsdale

Anyone who knows me knows I love supporting great local businesses and it PAINS me to write a bad review but I have to share my feelings. First off, this cafe is adorable. It’s clean. It’s pretty. But I came here because of the play place. I thought, hey this is great! I’ll grab coffee and let my kids play for a little bit before moving on to our next activity. Until I walked in and saw the prices. It’s $5 PER child to go inside a small play area. But if you buy a coffee and food, the play area has got to be free right?! Wrong! It’s still $5 per child even after you’ve spent $4-$6 on coffee, $6.25 on overnight oats and $2 per apple pouch that you buy at Costco for $9.99. Listen, I love the idea. I love the thought. But it’s ridiculous to charge parents this much per child for the 10-20 minutes the kids will actually play in the area because it’s small. A child who can entertain themselves will be over it fast and a child who’s younger won’t let Mommy get anything done if they are in eyesight. I’m super disappointed because I have been so excited to go here. As a Mom who has her own business and two kids 3 and under, I dream for a place like this. Wish for a place like this. But I’m not paying $10 plus food and drink for it. If they were supportive to Moms, they would do it as two options. Spend $10 on food and drink and your kids get in free OR charge for kids to play if you aren’t buying any food or drink. Not both! This isn’t a play place. This is a coffee shop. They have to decide which direction to take otherwise no one will go there.

Lacuna Coffee Co. Menu with Prices 25511 E Smoky Hill Rd, Aurora

The first Monday of every month, East hills community church hosts a 2 hour Storytime with Daycare. It’s amazing! It’s not drop off daycare, but you leave your kids in the nursery while you have a coffee with your friends, or work etc in the coffee shop. You can’t see the coffee shop from outside because it’s inside the church building. They separate the kids according to age levels. The little kids play with toys, older kids get storytime and games. If it’s warm they play in the playground outside as well. Very well organised. The drinks are all very reasonably priced. My 16oz tea was $1.75 and the coffees are a little more. The seating area is clean and comfortable, everyone is very friendly. There was even a child safety seat in the restroom if you don’t want to leave your kid strapped to the change table! Will be back!

1-Up Lounge Menu with Prices 1121 McKenzie Ave, Bellingham

This is a place for video game lovers. Super friendly owner. They have 2200 video games, all free to play when you order a glass of alcohol beverage. After the first game, $2 for the next game and so forth (if I remember correctly). If you don’t drink alcohol, $6 (or $5?) per hour to play a game. They have Nintendo, Wii, Sega Genesis, Xbox, Play Station, etc. If you want to play longer, you may want to ask for a 1-day pass. This may be a good place to check out some games you heard about, or try out games before you decide to purchase one. Or simply get together with friends just to have fun playing games. ã??ã??ã?ªã?²ã?¼ã? ã???????ã??ã???ã??å¬?ã?ã?ã?åº???æ?ã??ã?ã?? ã??ã??ã?ªã?²ã?¼ã? ?æ?°?2200ã????å ?ã?Xboxã?ã??ã?¬ã?¤ã?¹ã??ã?¼ã?·ã?§ã?³??ã?è?²ã???ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??å?ã??æ?ã??ã??ã?ã?? ã?¢ã?«ã?³ã?¼ã?«ã??ã?ªã?³ã?¯ã??ã?ªã?¼ã??ã?¼ã?ã???ã?å?ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ?ç?¡æ??ã????ã?²ã?¼ã? ã?ã???ã?2ã??ã?«ã?ã?£ã?¼ã?¸?ã?ã?ã??ã??ã?¢ã?«ã?³ã?¼ã?«ã?????ã??å??ã?1æ??é??6ã??ã?«ï¼?5ã??ã?«ï¼?ï¼?ã??é?·æ??é??é??ã?ã??å???ã?1æ?¥ã??ã?¹??å?¥ã??è?ã???ã???ã??ã?ã?ã?ã??ã?? å???è?ã?ã?ã??ã??ã?ªã?²ã?¼ã? ã???ã???ã?ã??ã?ã???ã?²ã?¼ã? ã???å?¥ã?ã???ã????ã?ã??????ã?ã?ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ã???ã???ã??ã??ã???ã?????ã???ã?ã?å?é??ä¸?ç·??ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??ã??é?????ã????ç«??å¯?ã???ã??ã?ã?ã?ã??ã??

LFG Cybercafe – Menu with Prices – 5500 Babcock Rd Suite 118, San Antonio

The employees are gamers, and gamers aren’t known to be very social. If you’ve been to LFG more than once, nobody is going to hold your hand and take you through the motions. That being said the first time I went, one of the owners was working and he was very willing to assist me with understanding the pricing, amenities, and their computers. This was an excellent experience and I knew that the next time I went, I would definitely be upgrading to the tournament computers, bringing my own peripherals, and bring some cash for their stash of snacks and drinks. Every other time I visited LFG, 7 or so times, an employee who was not invested into the business or into my endeavour was at the desk. The two I’ve seen so far are both students at the local University which I also attend, and while they are my friends and I like to play games with them, they did not show me similar enthusiasm whenever I interacted with them. It had the same feel of the high school kid who works at Subway and is just there because it’s a job That’s not what I expected in a place made for, made by, and run by gamers. I have multiple data points showing that bringing your own food is allowed, which is awesome, especially if you’re going to be there a long time. Depending on the the time of day you’re there, and the number of customers present there can be a fun tight knit community present. They host a lot of events, competitions, and viewing parties. They have a neat rewards and ranking system that is linked to other net cafes around the country allowing you to grind for a place on the leaderboards if you so choose. Visiting LFG with friends or with a team provides something different and exciting. Similar to seeing a band live: even though the audio quality is worse, the environment is less comfortable, and there might be people you don’t want to see there, you still go because it’s different, its an experience, and it’s fun. All in all, they’ve got it figured out.

The Hidden Spot – Menu with Prices – 2323 32 Ave NE #125, Calgary

This place was amazing I did play pool while I was there and was pleased to find the tables were of high quality. Also pleased to learn there are many masters and a few pro’s that play here. Anyone looking to learn how to play pool this would be the perfect place to start. Even the staff was very pleasant to speak with and acomadating as I had showed up 30 mins before closing time ( love that song closing time lol ) and she allowed me to play while she worked on closing, it had been a long night for her because it was the finals night for there league’s and I am sure she just wanted to go home and not serve anymore costumers. If I lived in Calgary I would frequently go to this place.

The Cave Gaming Center – Menu with Prices – 10621 Braddock Rd Suite B, Fairfax

Very interesting place! Very cool. I’d totally geek out here at this place! I loved all the electronics and set up here. Lots of talented gamers and people here just being them true selves and having fun in their own worlds. I really enjoyed watching people kick but on the computer in the games they were playing. It was my first time here. My family and I were eating across at Bryan’s Grill and I noticed through the door there was a interesting place across the hall because it’s all connect in a building basically. So I went to check it out and I felt like I entered into something like that Player1 Movie! Hahaha. Very cool. And Jason at the front desk was very kind and friendly. I bet since it’s right next to George mason there’s probably a lot of students that come here to Geek and kick butt after a long day of exams and classes to relax and be them true gamers that they are. I liked my experience here and would like to check this place out again when I’m back around that side of town again. ?

Krowd Kombat – Menu with Prices – 5446 1st St Suite C, Katy

My kids and I did this when they ran a sneak peak session. I’ve done traditional laser tag before and it was ok, I’m not much into gun games and I’m a grown woman. My kids needed me to play to even out the teams and I planned to just hide in a corner and pass the time thinking about my to-do list but it took a different turn. Setting up an account was fun, coming up with a “handle” they call it so I could come back and compare my stats. Already so different from laser tag. And then suiting up was exciting, made me forget I was a working mom with a growing list of things I needed to do that day. And then you get in there and receive your mission, which every 5 minutes there is a different game / mission. It was sooo much fun! I forgot I was 46 years old for an hour and even beat my 15 year old who sits around and plays video games all day :). Each game has a different strategy and you work as a team to try to beat the other team. I’ve never left old school laser tag and said “can’t wait to do that again” but I genuinely can’t wait to do this again.

Imagination Station – Menu with Prices – 1 Discovery Way, Toledo

I love imagination station! I had 5 kids ranging from 1.5-6, visited on Saturday when surprisingly they have 2 kids free with an adult and children under 2 free. Parking was just one block away which is actually fun to walk over to the riverside! I love giving the kids the idea weâ??re in the â??cityâ? which we are but we play up their imaginations it definitely make the trips more fun! Either way for under $30 we played in the little kids section which is amazing for our age group! Huge tree to climb, so much imaginative play areas from a ambulance and a hospital, a grocery store, fire truck, a huge water area over looking the river with wall to wall windows with a great view! For living in Toledo my whole life this gives me a big city adventure with a small price thatâ??s close to home! There is many things to do there but for small kids to be closed off in a great play area is enough for us! There is also a smaller baby sensory area where they can crawl around thatâ??s not with the bigger kids but parents with the older children can still watch the big kids while playing with the little ones! Hope this helps some moms visiting Toledo! Enjoy

Snack Shack KC – Menu with Prices – 3112 Strong Ave, Kansas City

This is an amazing place! It is a great place in the Argentine area for kids to go. It has several game tables pool air hockey and foosball. They also have snack foods. I went and played a board game with my youngest son and the staff was so nice a friendly. This place was create by students who saw a problem and solved it with the snack shack. If you have a chance to go just to play some games with your kid do it.

The Blurry Pixel – Menu with Prices – 201 Queen St, Ottawa

Pretty fun place. $15 minimum to stay and play (food or bar tab). I went with a group of friends and played various Mario Party, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Mortal Kombat games. The seating at the booths was awkward to say the least, craning my neck to look at the TV. We also played Rock Band 4 but could barely hear ourselves playing over the noise of the other gamers around the bar. The food was average and the drinks were okay. I ordered a lot of drinks and wasn’t even tipsy. Not sure if they’re cheating you out of some alcohol ounces or what? If you want to feel a buzz — stick to beer. That being said, the Mana and Health potion cocktails are quite cool… Now, I didn’t use the washroom, but my friend did and she said it was absolutely disgusting! I am kind of glad that I skipped it. She said that the Ladies Washroom has black mold, that pink scuzzy ring that toilets get when they haven’t been scrubbed in a while, and it was just a general shit show (pun intended). She said that she had to squat to pee so that she didn’t touch the seat. I like the nostalgia of playing old video games. I just wish that they had a better set up for doing so, the booths are fairly uncomfortable…
