Amazing service and okay food. I’ll definitely be back. I came here today around 1pm for lunch. I was pretty excited to check this place out because I love Mediterranean food and there aren’t many options for good Mediterranean food in Augusta. PROS: Fantastic customer service. The whole staff welcomes customers into the restaurant. The cashier has a good grasp of the menu; he made great recommendations and answered all of the questions I had about the menu and dishes. The manager was very involved. He was walking from table to table, making sure all the customers were happy, helping the kitchen staff, and he was helping run food to tables. Reasonable prices. A street pita, which comes with the sandwich and a side, ranges from $8.45-8.95. Appetizers were also decently priced from $4.99-6.25. A street pita with its side is definitely enough food for one person. But, there are so many options that you’ll probably be ordering more than a street pita. CONS: Slow cook time. It took just over 20 minutes for my food to be prepared. The restaurant was pretty busy but I still expected my food to come out a little bit faster. I’m assuming the kitchen was backed up since the restaurant is still relatively new and trying to get into a good rhythm. The preparation of the food: I had the falafel appetizer, a side of baba ghanoush, and a the chicken shawarma street pita. For the falafel and the street pita, the flavor was all there! I really enjoyed the way those two dishes tasted. However, I took my food to go, and the falafel was plated on a bed of lettuce and other vegetables and covered with sauce. By the time I got home (an 8 minute drive) the falafel was soggy. Falafel is supposed to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also, one of my falafel was cut in half and re-fried so it was pretty over cooked. I think I would have liked the dish a lot more if the lettuce bed wasn’t so wet and if the sauce came on the side; the falafel would have stayed crispy. The chicken shawarma pita tasted great too. The chicken was well seasoned and it’s cooked on a vertical, rotating broiler which is pretty traditional for this kind of a restaurant. However, the chicken was over-cooked; it was dry and tough. Also, the side of grilled vegetables was a little small and very bland. The vegetables were zucchini and carrots but they weren’t seasoned at all. I didn’t even taste any salt which is usually the bare minimum. This dish would have been awesome if they had cooked the chicken a little less and if they had seasoned the vegetables a little bit. I will say that the baba ghanoush was awesome! I love baba ghanoush and PIta’s tasted great. Overall, I was a little bit disappointed with the quality of the food. But, their customer service is awesome and they are a new restaurant so I’m sure they are still working on finding their grove. I will definitely be back and I look forward to trying their food again.

Istanbul Grill Menu with Prices 4617 Wilson Blvd, Arlington

Update: We are now regulars, and the food is still delicious. But they have been in business a while now and we have 2 complaints that warrant deleting a star: 1. Lackluster, store bought pita bread. Surely they can find a better supplier or make their own. 2. Service is still hit or miss, and prices have gone up. I’m OK with higher prices If service is good. Food and drinks take a long time from order to table. Maybe they need help in the kitchen? We decided to try this place for lunch today. What a gem! We started with baba ganoush and falafel appetizers. The baba ganoush was excellent – creamy, smoky with a drizzle of spicy oil. Falafel and hummus also on point. The falafel cakes were light and crispy, not too dense as is often the case. My husband had a chicken wrap with fries. The chicken was delicious and the wrap had an interesting mix of veggies and spices. The fries were OK. But who comes to a Turkish restaurant for fries? I got the doner kabob and it was outstanding. Some of the best I’ve had. Flavorful, juicy and crispy at the same time. We can’t wait to go back for dinner.

Charlie’s Gyros – Menu with Prices – 200 Main St #103B, Huntington Beach

I have been wanting to check this place out for a while I do enjoy a good falafel and Charlie’s did not disappoint While I was waiting for my food, I overheard someone saying “this is the best falafel I’ve ever had” I was pretty excited to see how it tasted I ordered the falafel wrap with fries on a pita and got the hot red sauce the fries were hot and freshly made with a good amount of seasoning on them. the falafel wrap was incredible. this was probably in the ranks of the top five falafels i’ve ever had. It may even be the best falafel i’ve ever had. the pita was soft and warm. the whole thing was loaded with perfectly fried falafels. the flavor was great and i could pick out a lot of the spices popping through. there was a good amount of salad in the wrap and sauce, i couldn’t tell if it was hummus or tahini but it was awesome! the red sauce tasted like sambal olek. I think a good addition would have been some pickled beets and turnips on the side. even though there was a generous amount of falafel in my pita, i didn’t feel overstuffed after I inhaled it. usually with some falafel places the falafel sits in your stomach like a rock; this however was delicious and not heavy at all do yourself a favor and check this place out especially if you’re vegetarian! its delicious!

Cafe Barada – Menu with Prices – 2269 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

This was my first time here. My friend is from Lebanon and says that this place has very authentic food that tastes like home. So if you’re looking for some legit Lebanese food, this would be the spot. We got the Falafil, Baba ganoush and combo #2. The Baba ganoush was really good with the bread (pita) they give you (I was able to easily eat 4-5 pieces!) And also made good dipping sauce for the Falafil (this was flavorful on his own but tasted even better with the Baba ganoush. If you’re getting any of the meats, make sure you get a side of the Toum sauce (garlic spread). The sauce is $3 but well worth it! We got the combo #2 which came with rice, mixed grilled vegetables, chicken, lamb and kafta. The Toum sauce was extra good with the rice and kafta! Really gave it the extra garlic flavor. The rice was very moist from the mixed vegetables on top of it, which made it that much easier to eat, it’s a big portion and can easily eat the entire plate. This may not seem like a lot of food but it was plenty for 2 people.

Oasis Falafel – Menu with Prices – 1620 Harney St, Omaha

Rejoice all ye who eat gluten free food!! This place is great for those who don’t eat gluten or dairy. Their menu has symbols for vegan and gluten free. Be careful though because even though, for example, the Greek salad has a vegan symbol it has cheese unless you ask otherwise. Same thing with baklava (has honey). I don’t live far from here yet for some reason never stopped in, I can’t remember how many times I’ve walked by it. Well no longer! Got there right as they opened and the ladies working the front end (one of which was being trained) were splendid. We were offered samples which we later found out was baba ganoush, hummus, and a falafel. Shockingly they were all good, including the baba ganoush, and I hate eggplant. Wanting to try a bit of it all; husband and I divided to conquer. We ordered two of the kebab plates; 2 meats with 2 sides, pita, and a falafel. I got the chicken shawarma, chicken kebab, madjadra, greek salad without feta cheese, and a gluten free pita. My husband ordered the lamb kebab, beef kofta, hummus, and baba ganoush. Also came with a falafel and he got the gluten free pita. Also when you get the gluten free pita or you ask for your food gluten free they do ask if you have celiac disease. I understand how to some people this might seem intrusive but I appreciated this because while I personally don’t have celiac, I know those that have it have to be VERY strict with what they can eat. We also ordered a 6pc falafel on the side. If I’m going to rate the meats I would say the chicken kebab would be my top winner but I did have to add some salt to the outside (currently pregnant and a salt fiend). Followed by the beef kofta, which is a round little beef patty, then the chicken shawarma, and the lamb kebab. My husband would say the lamb was the best. Honestly the lamb to me tasted like beef and it took awhile for my brain to remember it wasn’t beef which was weird. My favorite side, which husband agreed, was by far the madjadra. Madjadra is this funky mix of rice, lentils, spices, and topped with beautiful caramelized onions. I would seriously go back just for this. Followed up by the hummus, baba ganoush, and the salad. Hubby and I thought the salad had a musty moldy dirty taste to it. This could have been the spring mix they used or what we don’t know, but it wasn’t great. The dressing was very basic, although I did enjoy the olives. The gluten free pita bread was okay, but will NOT convince anyone it’s not gluten free I assure you. Very flat, crispy like a cracker, and I just wasn’t a huge fan. The falafel was okay. We had it very fresh; like right out the fryer. They were a bit greasy for my tastes and I personally prefer a finer texture. I’ll admit I’m partial to Amsterdam’s spicy falafel. That being said it wasn’t terrible, but it isn’t their best item. I think if they flattened it out more it might work better. Getting there right when they opened was fun and it filled up quickly. We took a funky seat up in the window and I’m so glad we did. One complaint though they play funky Bob Marley like music REALLY loud. Maybe it was just while we were here, I don’t know, but seriously turn the music down a tiny bit so people can talk to each other. Thankfully sitting in the window area was more quiet. Also the place was clean and when someone would leave an employee would promptly go clean the area they were eating at. Price wise it’s alright. 2 plates of food, 1 side of falafel, tax, and tip was just over $35. You could definitely go cheaper if you wanted. I think the portions are alright for the price, but husband said the portions are smaller for the price. Parking could be an issue, as it is with most of downtown. If you’re willing to walk, the cheap parking meters are on Harney just west of 20th street (the 10hr meters) or you could use the public parking garage on 19th and Harney. There are spots on Harney that are closer, b

King Falafel And Grill – Menu with Prices – 8875 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga

About five weeks ago, we (me, my wife, and her parents) stumbled across this little, family-owned restaurant on our way to watch the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes play some baseball. At that time, it was called “Let’s Falafel and Grill.” (The friendly gentleman that greeted us and cooked for us back then is the same friendly guy that still greets us and cooks for us now.) We have visited Let’s Falafel/King’s Falafel four times now. In about five weeks. That’s quite often, considering that we live in Anaheim! The chicken, the beef, and the lamb kafta kabobs are grilled as you order them, so don’t expect your food to be delivered as fast as a cup of coffee from Starbucks. (We’re normally in no rush, so we don’t mind sitting and talking, but if you order ahead you’ll have no problem.) The meats are moist, tender, and very flavorful. The rice is fluffy and delicious. You’ll love the garlic sauce, the hummus, the cucumber yogurt, the service, and the cost! When a chicken bowl from Flame Broiler (across the street) costs about $9, it’s worth paying the extra dollar at King’s to receive: more (and better tasting) chicken, rice, a salad, grilled (chunky) vegetables, humus, and pita bread! We’ll spend about $50-$55 (for four people) and have enough leftovers for lunch the next day! (Compare that to Flame Broiler: $40 for four chicken bowls with no leftovers.) If you are looking for a great meal, a great price, great service, and want to support a local business… then you need to start dining at King’s Falafel! Seriously. Go now! Why are you still reading this? My review is finished… Get to King’s Falafel NOW!!

RAWA Mediterranean Fusion, Middle Eastern Food – Menu with Prices – 838 Whalley Ave, New Haven

We have lived down the street from Rawa for just over a year and haven’t made it in until now. We have walked by and driven past often, but the restaurant doesn’t usually look busy, so we weren’t sure if it was any good. I’m disappointed we have only now experienced this restaurant, and it’s a shame they don’t get more business! We came in rather late in the evening (9:30 PM) on a Saturday and we were seated quickly. I had the Rawa cocktail (Sauza tequila, Cointreau, and hibiscus infusion), and it was delightfully fresh. We shared the baba ganoush, which came with fresh pita; we devoured it within minutes. For our entrees, we split the falafel plate and the chicken biryani; both were SO good. Seriously, it was the best falafel I’ve ever had–there was some seasoning on them that blew my mind. The chicken biryani was perfectly spicy and was magical with the cucumber mint yogurt sauce. Lastly, we had the baklava; it was super tasty, and I wanted more! Our server was terrific–she was very attentive yet not intrusive. When there was a small issue with our bill, she took care of it quickly and gave us two extra pieces or baklava for the inconvenience. Now that we know how delicious the food is and how great the service is, we are certainly disappointed we didn’t go sooner, and we will definitely be back!

Forty Thieves – Menu with Prices – 1538 Race St, Cincinnati

The food is great. Period. No issues with the food. I went here for the 4th time this past Saturday. I am leaving a 2/5 because of the service and rules that are very obscure and absurd. My friend’s girlfriend ordered some soup and she wanted a side of hummus. At first a guy helped us. He went on some rant about not being able to give people a side of hummus. He stated, “If I allow one person to order a side of hummus, then everyone will want a side of hummus and that’s just not something we do here.” After asking nicely again and stating she would pay for it, he caved and gave her a side of hummus. For yelpers reading this, just keep asking and maybe they will break corporate code as a gesture of goodwill and give you a small side of hummus. In previous visits, I have been able to order a Falafel Pita with the vegetables on the side. Never had an issue with this. Just don’t put the vegetables in the pita, pretty simple. No one quipped or said that wasn’t allowed. I tried the same thing in this visit. The guy who took my friend’s order went away and a woman came to the counter to take my order. After asking for the same thing I have done in the three previous visits, she replied, “Oh well that’s basically ordering a deconstructed sandwich, which we aren’t allowed to do. You will have to get the Falafel over hummus menu item which is $10.” You kidding me? I didn’t want the hummus as I am not a big fan of hummus in general. Instead of arguing, I just took it. Again good food, really stupid policies.

Falafel Time – Menu with Prices – 6475 W Charleston Blvd #110, Las Vegas

Falafel Time is the newest food counter to set up shop inside the CSN food court. Menu has falafel and beef shawarma, available in wraps or plates, with a selection of sides. Tight menu means good execution of everything! Came in for a falafel plate, staff were great about accommodating a couple of adjustments. Falafel was hot and fresh, soft inside and crispy outside- one of the better versions in town. Pita seemed store bought but was amply portioned. I also enjoyed the hummus and house-pickled veggies. $11 vegetarian plate filled me up for lunch with leftover pita to spare. Would love to see menu add chicken shawarma, but if that’s not an option at least offering feta, olives, and that green spicy sauce as add-ons would be awesome.

Chickpeas Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 700 N 10th St, Sacramento

First time here and we got the falafel pita. The falafel itself was really good, crunchy on the outside moist and parsley green on the inside. Which paired nicely in the pita pocket with delicious humus cucumber and tomato. However I was disappointed that they ran out of tzatziki sauce, it’s part of the Mediterranean food, the tahini sauce was a good replacement but it was still not tzatziki sauce. I also tried 3 of their self-serve salads the garbanzo was my favorite! The tabbouleh salad and carrot salad were good but seemed to lack salt, tasted very lite in flavor. What I absolutely appreciated is getting to put my own toppings in my pita pocket. The Mediterranean pickles are on point, so are the seasoned onions (only foodies will understand) This place is totally worth checking out

Ohio kabob grill – Menu with Prices – 3359 W 117th St, Cleveland

Ok.. let me start with this.. When I took the first bite of the Chicken Tikka kebab, I was so excited, I called a friend to inform that I’ve finally found the best kebab in town. I had this restaurant in my bookmark for a long long time and today, I made up my mind that I’ll come here for dinner. I’m so glad I did. The detailed review is as follows: 1: Parking : They have a big dedicated parking lot for their customers right next to the restaurant. There is plenty of space in that lot. 2:; Reception : There is no reception counter as such and you will probably come across a lady who will help you get a table and will also serve you food. 3: Ambiance : not an upscale place but it has never been a deal breaker for me. The moment you are near the entrance, you will get that magnetic fragrance of kebabs being grilled. After all, I am paying for the food, not for the decor. 4: Food : This will take some time. Let me start with the dishes I had today : a: Baba ghanoush : hands down the best baba ghanoush I’ve had anywhere across the globe (so far). You get that smoky flavor from the eggplant puree which I found missing at a lot of restaurants. It came with 2 Pita breads cut into 4 each ( 8 slices in total) and is good enough for 2-3 people to share. I ate it alone by the way as it was delicious. b: Chicken Tikka kebab : “Perfect” in every way. The chicken pieces were perfectly spiced to my liking ( I love hot food) and were extremely juicy and tender. They came with a very fragrant rice (pilaf), almost like the rice that you get in biryani. The rice was very light and fluffy and had these subtle flavors of saffron and ghee. It was steaming hot when I got it ans stayed moist till I ate it completely. There was a also a salad on the side made with lettuce, purple cabbage accompanied by Raita ( yogurt, cucumber, cilantro dip ) and a very hot green chili chutney. I got some of that chutney home to eat later . I have never eaten so much food,at once, in my life LOL. Value for money : All of this and a diet coke for just $21.85… what else could I possibly ask for. I had a nice little chat with the chef before leaving and I told him that I’d give him nothing less than 5 stars on Yelp as they totally deserve it. As Yelp says for 5 star ratings : “As good as it gets”.. This place is that for Kebabs. PS : I’m already planning my next visit… ?

Pita Street – Menu with Prices – 11400 Fourth St #104, Rancho Cucamonga

Wow! Our entire food tasted amazing. Paneer kabob plate: THE BEST. It was everyone’s favorite. I would totally recommend this for anyone who is vegetarian. The paneer was not oily or greasy, it was cooked perfectly. Falafel plate: One of the best falafel I’ve had. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. They fried it perfectly. Very flavorful. Chicken shawarma plate: Tender and juicy. Lots of flavor. The chicken was cooked crispy but was still juicy and tender. Loved this! Chicken kabob plate: Yum!! Huge pieces of flavorful chicken. The portion is great and very filling. The basmati rice that came with all the plates WAS THE BEST. The rice had so much flavor and was melting in our mouths. We all agreed the rice in the meal was a huge bonus. The hummus in the plates was smooth, creamy, and did not taste bitter or overwhelming. I Best for last: The PITA BREAD!! I have had so many different places and the pita bread here was the softest and most fresh tasting. It tasted buttery and melts in your mouth. Garlic sauce: smooth and perfectly flavored. Buttery and great to dip meat in. Customer service from the older man was inviting and I truly appreciated his hospitality. Was impressed with the food! Would recommend this plate 10/10.

Pita Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1378 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester

My wife and I found PITA while walking around College Town on a Saturday, and we are so glad we did! By the time we left we had found our new favorite restaurant. We tried the falafel pita (packed with falafel patties and other good stuff), grape leaves with Greek salad, and tabouli (a salad-like dish of chopped mint, parsley, and wheat). Everything was delicious! The menu contains all our favorite middle eastern dishes, and in some cases takes them in a unique and delicious direction. The grape leaves were excellent, subtly spiced with a flavor I hadn’t tasted since eating my Lebanese grandmother’s homemade cooking decades ago. Don’t get me wrong, I like grape leaves from other restaurants, but this is “home cooking” in the best sense. Also the falafel was soft and delicious, among the best I’ve had. Highly recommended!
