Came here on July 4th with family and was surprised to find them open! Was looking for sweets to get for my parents and my goodness I was surprised at everything they had to offer! Lots of different styles of pastries not commonly found and delicious too! I got a Walnut Nazuk, which was softer than expected, not too sweet, and delicious! A coconut cookie which was soft and perfectly sweetened , and a warmed up custard ponchik which was SOOO GOOOD. Definitely a comfort food. Also had the Lahmajun, which had a hint of spicyness, but good enough for anyone to handle, and all this for 3.79! Wow! My family ordered some other items as well! Good prices, wide selection, and really nice customer service, I can’t wait to come back and try more! Thanks for saving our independence day Pink Orchid!

Unforgettable Bakery & Cafe – Menu with Prices – 238 Eisenhower Dr, Savannah

This is my first Yelp review, so pardon me if it’s a bit romanticized. “Unforgettable, That’s what you are . . .” I found this charming (hidden gem) of a bakery on the day they were celebrating the Haitian Independence Day (January 1st) in 2019. From the moment I stepped through the door, even though this was my first time there, I was welcomed like family. The food was delicious, the service on the first visit was like I had been coming there for years, and the celebration they offered, a mix of storytelling, Haitian art, and music, made me feel like a wide-eyed child exploring a new world. Upon leaving, Belinda Baptiste, the delightful owner of Unforgettable, came over to hug me, and thank me for spending this momentous day with her family, of which I was now eternally a part of. “That’s why, darling, it’s incredible That someone so unforgettable Thinks that I am Unforgettable, too…. ” To pull a line from Dr. Suess, I walked out of the Unforgettable Bakery and Cafe in Savannah, Ga, feeling as though my heart had grown three sizes that day! Anytime I’m in Savannah, I plan to head back there, and you should go as well. Pran plezi!!!

Sanskar Maharashtrian Veg Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 406 W Grand Pkwy S # 360, Katy

Its a family run restaurant, so the service is personalized. The owner/chef walks out to talk to you and get feedback. They have a very limited ala carte menu, but the food was fresh and delicious. We pretty much tried most items on the menu and here are my thoughts: Misal Pav – Spicy (real spicy) and delicious, exactly how its supposed to be. The best I have had outside of India. (5/5) Pav Bhaaji – Pav were soft and nice. But the bhaaji was a tad more tangy. The onions on the side were not finely cut and i had huge pieces. (3/5) Vada pav – vada was very crunchy and tasty, the pav could have been softer. (4/5) Sabudana vada – Its so easy to mess this up. But the vadas were perfectly cooked. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Chutney could have been better though. So taking a point off.(4/5) Coffee – I can go back there just for the coffee. It was perfect. (5/5) Chickoo Milkshake – I didn’t taste it, but the 2 people on our table who had it were in awe of it. (5/5) Note: – If you can’t handle spicy food, this is not the place for you. I enjoyed the spice, but not everyone on our table could handle it. – The menu has just 5 or 6 items, so if you go in expecting a long menu like most Indian restaurants, you will be disappointed.

Ramen Tatsunoya – Menu with Prices – 16 N Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena

We were originally in the area with no intention of eating out for dinner but passing by Tatsunoya, we saw the line and said, “hey, this place has got to be good.” So then we decided to eat out for dinner, haha. Parking: although not so much an issue for us today, I did see that street parking was difficult to come by. I would circle around the block a few times and see if you get lucky. Wait time: There were maybe 4-5 parties in front of us waiting to be seated, but our total wait time was still only about 15 minutes or so. The line goes by pretty quickly and they try their best to accommodate your table preferences. They have bar seating, table seating, and a communal table in the center with this huge tree trunk going through the middle of it. We got seated at the bar so we didn’t get the tree experience, haha. They were quick to sit us and take our order. Our hostess gave us a basket for us to put our purses, jackets, and bags and then slid it under our table. That’s the first I’ve experienced that, but it was handy! Food: Their menu is simple, you can choose from 3 ramen options, no substitutions. I ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu, which is miso based. It came with 2 smallish pieces of mostly fat, chasu. The broth was thick and silky, delicious. Noodles were a little hard, which is how I prefer them, but some of my noodles were stuck together and a little too starchy. My main let down, was the spicyness. It was not spicy. They could’ve told me it was regular non-spicy ramen and I would’ve believed it. They do have a little jar of the spicy mix on the table for you to add to your bowl and adjust as you see fit. I guess that’s ok, but then why call it the Spicy Tonkatsu on the menu? What I also didn’t like was that the spicy mix came with pieces of ground meat. I can tolerate small amounts of pork (allergic), so my partner usually ends up getting my extra pieces of chasu, which I don’t mind. In this case, I felt like I wasn’t able to adjust the spicyness of my ramen because the spicy mix had ground meat in it, and it would just be impossible, and annoying, to sit there and try to pick out all the meat. So I ate my ramen as is, and with no real spicyness to it ? Conclusion: Glad I got to try it, it left me full, but I’m not sure I left fully ramen satisfied. I wanted spicy ramen, I ordered spicy ramen, but did not get spicy ramen.

BigBang BBQ – Menu with Prices – 449 N Salina St, Syracuse

This wasn’t what I expected, but it was still tasty. So being that I travel a lot, I was kind of hoping for a Yakatori style restaurant. This restaurant is a straight Chinese BBQ. Now I need to be very clear, this particular style is not sweet. It’s a very spicy style bbq. All of the meats are dry rubbed with spice. The menu is pretty vast and and has a wide variety of different items you can pick for your bbq. I would say there is about 20 or so. They range from beef, chicken, fish, and squid to veggies and bread. They also have chef dishes that are large and not the bbq style. The prices are kind of all over the price. While the bbq items are very reasonable, some of there other prices are strange. One of the odd ones was the 12 steamed dumplings for 12 bucks. They were tasty, but most dumplings don’t cost that much. Also some of their chef dishes were 18-30 bucks. The bbq items are only $1.50-$5 per item. They also don’t have hot tea (very odd) or iced water for free. They only have cooler drinks like bottled water, soda, etc. I think this restaurant will be very successful, but just remember their food is spicy. The guy at the counter told me at the end that I could get less spicy next time. Also some of them speak very little English, so if you have a friend or family member fluent in Mandarin it will help you a lot. I definitely recommend coming here as the food is pretty authentic and tasty.

Tippin’s Gourmet Pies – Menu with Prices – 5350 Speaker Rd, Kansas City

I miss Tippin’s so, so much. I went to the Independence location nearly once a week with my family, and everything on the menu was fantastic. My favorite was the Shepperd’s Pie. We went there often enough that all the servers knew us, and they always treated all their customers so well. I loved the Bannister location as well. And the pie? There will never be a better bakery. Bostom Cream was my favorite, followed by the Strawberry.

Around the World Cafe – Menu with Prices – 5110 Park Rd 1-K, Charlotte

We stopped by this little shop for some boba tea and was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of both the teas and ice creams. We ordered 2 Thai Milk Teas with Boba, Strawberry Milk with Boba, Milk Tea with Boba, and Hazel Nana ice cream. The Thai Milk Tea was super refreshing and the Strawberry Milk reminded me is my new favorite drink! I wish they served something similar at boba chains that are closer to me since this cafe is more local and probably isn’t a chain. The Milk Tea was also very delicious. The Hazel Nana ice cream was spectacular!! It was the best ice cream I’ve had in a while and it’s been a few days and I’m still thinking about it. It’s the best banana hazelnut flavored ice cream I’ve had in a while. Our server was also super nice and friendly while explaining menu items. The only minor complaint I have is that some of the drink menu items don’t have prices on them but their menu is written with chalk so I’m sure they could easily add the prices. Most drinks are between $3-$5 depending on the size and the drink (the pricing is similar to Starbucks). If I’m ever in the area I’m definitely stopping by again!

Vaquero Tacos and Tequila Menu with Prices 2300 Bell St #9, Amarillo

This place was open for about a month before I even heard about it. Since it’s right across the freeway from where I’m staying I was surprised I hadn’t noticed it yet. I decided to stop by one day and was disappointed that they didn’t have all day breakfast so I could try their breakfast tacos. Then when I ordered one kind of tacos they said they were out of it so I ordered another kind. They were very good. The complimentary chips were good and the salsa was nice also. I went back a week or two later and made sure I got there before 10:30 a.m. so I could try their breakfast tacos. I ordered 2 for starters and they were both so good I ordered a third to finish off my meal. They were very reasonably priced and delicious but on both occasions I felt like the food took quite a while to arrive. Long enough that you start to wonder if they’d forgotten all about you even though you’re the only one in there or maybe one other table occupied. It looked like they made their own tortillas in a back room with a large window. Everything was very delicious but it’s a good thing I wasn’t on a time schedule. I was told that they were going to start serving the breakfast tacos later, like until 11am instead of just 10:30. I want to go back again and try some more of them. Of the times I was there I felt like they needed to work some opening bugs out so maybe by the next time I go back things will be a bit more organized. The servers have certainly been nice and that coffee was excellent! I don’t order coffee in restaurants much as a cost-saving gesture but their coffee is well worth ordering.

Casa Borinquen – Menu with Prices – 6519 Taft St, Hollywood

Puerto Rican home cooking at its best. Fresh comfort food deliciousness in a casual atmosphere with friendly attentive service. It’s located in a stand alone building off of Taft St. It’s has a small parking lot. The outside of the building looks like it could use freshening up. The inside is bright and clean with about a dozen tables. You order at the counter/pay at the counter, are given are number to place on your table and your food is brought out to you. The presentation was nice, unexpected for a causal spot like this. I ordered the camarones en salsa (shrimp in creole sauce) with mofongo (seasoned smashed plantains). It came with a simple side of greens and a slice of tomato. The dressing traditionally used for this type of salad is a good Spanish olive oil and white vinegar which was already on the table. The shrimp were plump, cleaned, deveined and cooked perfectly in a wonderfully seasoned sauce. The mofongo was fantastic. Not at all dry and served with a side of broth to moisten to your liking. I highly recommend Casablanca Borinquen. It’s delicious homemade Puerto Rican comfort food, in a nice family atmosphere, with affordable prices and friendly service. Make sure to check out there weekday lunch menu specials and their recently opened 150 person, full service, full bar location in West Palm Beach.

Mark of the Beastro – Menu with Prices – 666 State St, Salt Lake City

A vegan comfort food spot? Yesssss please! This great new find is housed in the old Bar Deluxe, currently the Beehive Social Club. Picnic style tables and a few four tops have taken over the front half of the space, and then a curtain separates the restaurant from the back half where the stage is (the social club still had live music and events). Looking for a menu? It’s on a board hanging on the pole in the center of the space. It’s not a fixed menu, so they write on the chalkboard the options available that day. There are breakfast items, appetizers, sandwiches, drinks, etc. And yes, everything is vegan. It says burger?…that’s vegan. It says chicken wings?…that’s vegan. Seriously, it’s all vegan. And I am in heaven. I don’t have to check and double check and ask. It’s all food I can have. I came today with my food adventure crew for lunch. A small group of co-workers and former co-workers gather together every month, and sometimes several times a month, to try out new restaurants and challenge our food comfort zones. So today this Beastro was our spot. We all ordered the burgers and fries (highly recommended by the host/server), and I just got mine with no cheese. The burger was falling apart as you got into it (a sign it’s not just a frozen patty) and it was totally fine with me! The bun was nice and soft and the lettuce, tomatoes and pickles were fresh and crisp. The burger had a nice smoky flavor to it (like a hint of BBQ) but it wasn’t overpowering or spicy. The fries…uh yummm!! Crisp outside chewy center and so flavorful. Garlic, salt and parsley seasoning but it wasn’t too strong. I was able to go back to work without having super garlicky breath. I ordered 5 buffalo wings to go for the hubby to try. He loved the buffalo sauce and said it packed a nice punch. The “wings” had a stick through the center (think corn dog style) but with the batter, the chicken actually looked like a drumstick. He said you could tell it’s not chicken, but he still enjoyed it and devoured every bite. I am so excited this place opened and that they have such a vast menu. I definitely need to come back and try all the other items!! Service was great, food was delicious. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because they didn’t have any music playing, and the space just felt hollow. There was only one other person there when we were seated and it felt like we were shouting in our convos because it was so quiet and echoey in the space. Also, the bathrooms. Still the same as it was with Bar Deluxe, and I just prefer to have restrooms that are suited for a food establishment, not a bar. But it’s not anything to keep me from coming back!

Starship Billiards Parlor – Menu with Prices – 2301 Adlai Stevenson Dr, Springfield

Starship Billiards is a dimly lit billiards parlor which is a hidden gem for its BBQ wings. Their bar area is tucked into a corner of the establishment and is by no means expansive. They probably have 6-7 small tables on a platform around the bar. Their menu has some variety, with typical bar food and other options like tacos. The menu items are described with Star Trek-themed monikers. The wings that come from their little kitchen, however, are probably the best I have ever had. Far, far better than Buffalo Wild Wings- these are probably double the size. They’re sauces are much better in my opinion because of their better flavor profile, thicker consistency, and more generous lathering of each wing. They have a wide variety of options, from Honey BBQ to Hot Honey Lime to Starburst (mustard-based with citrus) to “Vulcan hot” and more. I’ve listed just my family’s favorites. A dozen large wings will run about $10. We like to order 5-6 dozen and share family-style. I’m not surprised more people haven’t ventured in for their food- it’s not advertised as a restaurant. But it’s my go-to for any wing cravings. You can order for carry out as well. They also have billiards, darts, and some arcade games, but I’ve never played there.

The Wheelhouse – Menu with Prices – 7220 Central Ave, St. Petersburg

Stumbling on to The Wheelhouse was, by far, the highlight of this past weekend. From the moment we walked in the vibe was charged by the dynamic patrons and the employees. Welcomed almost immediately by one of the staff we found a seat. I ordered the Dirty Bird, which was over the top with it’s perfectly fried, juicy chicken breast dowsed in their own Buffalo seasoning, topped with red onion, lettuce and tomato. The Bird was rounded off with a scrumpus blue cheese dressing. On to my drink of choice…their Sangria…the glass was massive…the wine sweet with that mild hint of cinnamon sneaking up on you. There is a wide variety of craft beers to choose from. Ladies, make sure you take a trip to the restroom, you will be pleasantly surprised! All in all, The Wheelhouse gets a AAA from me and I will definitely be heading back and taking friends along for the ride. Oh, and if you are in the mood for a board game, take your choice from Checkers to Payday and everything in between. Pink Sushi

Main St. Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 127 W Main St, Mesa

Nice atmosphere, good drinks and decent food. Dj was on point and i like that it’s in a local setting. Down falls were once you find a seat there was nobody to great you. We sat for atleast 10min before deciding to ask a “bartender” how to go about ordering as they just stared at us from the bar. To then get an answer of you have to order on the opposite side. Which was fine, but it would be nice to have known that maybe by a menu with that statement on it? Two male bartenders stayed behind the bar only acknowledging who sat at the bar. I asked for a water cup which was the size of a thimble and had to serve the water myself. The only attention we received was from a staff member who seemed to have her eyes on I am assuming her children which was nice to see family was involved, but would of been nicer if we had some type of service other than hers as she was back and forth from the bar and kitchen I am assuming she is the only one who works there as the bartenders sat back and watched it all happen. I thought this was sad as they are a new place and I specifically went due to my Facebook blowing up with advertisement. Will I go back? Good question it would definitely not be my first choice for an evening out. I could get what I got by staying home and saving my money. Def a place to improve in service if they expect to survive the countless overturned businesses of downtown mesa as it up is an up and coming downtown area. What a great place to be at once they figure out how to handle customer service. Especially the 2 bartenders who obviously thought thier job only consisted of handing a drink out to who they chose was good enough to have a drink.
