If you are like me (and I hope for your sake that you are not), you just have to have a good espresso drink first thing in the morning, every morning, or you are not happy. So wherever I go, I take the time to find the very best espresso available. When I visit my relatives in Bend, Perk Avenue is that spot. The coffee is *awesome*, you get it *super fast*, and the people there are *super nice and fun*. They even put me in a good mood *before* I get my espresso, and to be honest I didn’t think that was possible. Plus it’s a locally owned family business, which I am always glad to support. If you are staying anywhere in Bend (and especially at the Shiloh or Riverview which are very very close), this is where you should go. But even if it’s a little bit of a drive, the time you save getting your coffee quickly here vs. waiting in line somewhere else will more than make up for it. And the quality of it will make your whole day better! Get the coffee you deserve. Get it at Perk Avenue. ?

Kennedy’s Coffee House Menu with Prices 1444 NW College Way Suite 3, Bend

I love coffee. I love to support local. I prefer the best quality coffee, but if 7-11 is all that’s available, bring it on! BOM DIA is the worst coffee I have ever had in my entire life. So disgusting that I didn’t even finish it. You can tell the true quality by trying the espresso so I ordered an americano. It tasted so burnt and so stale. It was just awful. Second, I love Brazil. I studied Portuguese for years and visited Brazil several times. It really annoys me that an American opened a coffee shop and named it a Brazilian name “BOM DIA” which means “good morning” and doesn’t support Brazil in any way. The coffee isn’t from Brazil. The feel, style, products, and nothing else in the shop relate to Brazil in any way. AND they mispronounce the name! It’s pronounced like, “bon-Gia”. so annoying that they named it after such a beautiful Brazilian phrase and slaughtered it. Plus their coffee is AW-FUL. Way too much great coffee in Bend to waste your time here.

The Perk Coffee House – Menu with Prices – 5801 Schwartz Rd, Fort Wayne

The Perk has become an amazing part of our church and our area community! The best conversations always happen with a fantastic cup of coffee in hand! Whether, I am meeting for accountability with a friend, doing a Bible study or dreaming about future ideas… my conversations have always been blessed at The Perk! If you haven’t done so yet come grab a cup of coffee and invite a friend. God is doing awesome things here!

Just The Drip SATX – Menu with Prices – 24188 Boerne Stage Rd, San Antonio

If you drove by “The Point” and saw the big coffee and espresso flag signs and wondered…. Are they open. Well today I took the turn and checked it out. I pulled into the spacious parking lot on Saturday morning and walked into to side of the building. First impression was, this looks a lot like “The Perk” from “Friends”. Very warm and cozy feeling when you walk in. Denise met me at the counter and informed me that they do their own blend and have their own roaster who is also a local Physics teacher too. I loved the trinkets, lamps, and other dust collectors that cluttered the front area. All for sale. Walk in the next room and you have your selection of seating areas or if it’s cool enough out side is a quiet alternative. The coffee is smooth and tasty. Great alternative to the Local Coffee or Starbucks. This was faster and more warm environment. I will definitely come here to work. Free internet. Love this place.

Espresso Avenue – Menu with Prices – 1807 Everett Ave, Everett

OK I’ll confess to being a coffee snob, but hey, it’s the little things that make life enjoyable, and for me a good cup of espresso is high on that list. Unfortunately, once you go outside the city limits of Seattle, WA you have to be wary and patient if you’re looking for a quality cup of ‘spro. Even in San Francisco it takes a little sniffing to suss out a good cup, and what’s up with serving coffee in those cereal-bowl sized cups anyway? So I did a little google search after trying several outlets in Everett, WA and coming up disappointed, and one of the top-rated in town was a drive-up, which usually means two things: Bad coffee and reviewers with no taste buds.Wrongo: Espresso Avenue not only lived up to the hype, it exceeded it. It gets compared to another Everett shop with multiple locations that starts with a ‘B’ but I tried them and they don’t stand up. First off it’s a double window drive up, and every time I went they had two employees, which is good because trying to work two lines by yourself makes for slow service. And every time I went the staff was friendly and chatty in just the right amount. But lightening service and pleasant conversation isn’t why I spend my hard-earned dough on take-out coffee, IT’S ALL ABOUT THE COFFEE! and Espresso Ave doesn’t disappoint. They grind up Cafe D’arte, which is a good start: quality beans make screwing things up harder. Then the baristas use proper preparation methods. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched someone try to pull shots without properly tamping the grounds. And if the timing is off they dump the shots instead of trying to pass them off on unsuspecting customers. To top it off they don’t try to charge $2.50 for a short Americano, which I get too often these days…..So how’s it taste? Wonderful! The coffee taste is clean and bright, with that almost chewy texture that everyone who loves their espresso knows what I’m talking about. And they’ve learned the trick to serving an Americano without being too cool or too scalding. If I closed my eyes as I was pulling away I’d almost believe I was sipping at one of my favorite Seattle coffee shops! Thank you Espresso Avenue!

Darkshot Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1 Lake St, Reno

Litterally some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I really suggest going here even if your not staying at the renaissance. Scott is a really nice guy who takes care of his customers so definitely go support local buisness and get some amazing coffee and great service at the same time!

Nevzat’s Espresso – Menu with Prices – 12602 Renton Ave S, Seattle

We moved to Skyway and immediately wanted to find a coffee place nearby. A neighbor suggested we go to Nevzat espresso as he was close by AND a member of the local community. We decided to check it out and I am glad we did! PROS: * Nevzat is SUPER friendly! After just a few visits he remember our names and drink orders! * The coffee is very tasty and much better priced than Starbucks. * Great selection of drinks on their menu an also will do customs! * Punch card loyalty program to reward return customers. CONS: * I am used to my coffee being VERY hot and have come to like it that way. You know, so hot it takes 10 minutes before you can take a full drink? My coffee was coming out at the perfect temperature to drink right away but that was too cold for me. I mentioned this to him and ever since then he gives me my drinks much hotter. SO started off a CON, but he fixed it! CONCLUSION: We are now LOYAL customers and go back several times a week. We prefer his coffee to Starbucks and are always sad when we are out of town and forced to go elsewhere!

Espresso! Coffee Bar – Menu with Prices – 1201 N Market St, Wilmington

Espresso is located in a business building and serves all your caffeine needs and smoothies too if you are have a sweet tooth that day. Their decorations are quite interesting in that most of the paintings are based on candy bars! The service has always been good and the prices are good for the location that we are at. I usually opt for the red eye (espresso shot in coffee) when I am looking for a boost during the day. One morning the staff were handing out samples for both the Kenyan and Dominican Republic coffee. I tried and the DR coffee with my coworker who had just moved from Australia. He mentioned that it was one of the best drip coffees that he has had since moving to the states, and he is in New York now! This has definitely turned into our daily caffeine routine and will continue to be given its convenient location and good coffee.

Coast Roast Coffee – Menu with Prices – 801 Magazine St, New Orleans

Coast Roast Coffee is located in the Auction House Market, and serves custom espresso drinks (both hot and iced) and drip coffee. This business is fast and efficient, and employs very pleasant baristas. I popped by on my way to a morning meeting, and was very pleased with my experience, until I tasted my coffee. This coffee had more body than Arnold Schwarzenegger in his hey-day. It basically leapt out of the cup, punched me in the face, and scampered off across the street to beat up an old lady. I’m all about strong coffee; I need that extra kick in the pants to get me going in the morning as much as the next girl, but Coast Roast has me beat. Almost literally.

The Harbinger Cafe & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1107 King St, Charleston

Landed in Charleston late Thursday night and was desperate for some coffee the next morning. This shop was pretty close to where I was staying, so I stopped in. The front of the coffee shop is super cute. There is a bar along the front window where you can sit and look out at the people walking by, and there is plenty of seating around the back of the restaurant. There are also a few benches outside with a nice patio. I never steer away from a good iced drink, so I ordered a 16 oz cold brew which came to $4.50 after tax. This was truly authentic cold brew and the beans had been steeped for quite some time, so it was good and strong. But, this is not like Starbucks or Dunkin’ cold brew… it had a much bolder taste. If you’re a big coffee drinker, you’ll know what I mean. Harbinger also had an extensive display of pastries, juices, and other goods. The pastries themselves looked delicious and ran anywhere from $3-5, and many of them were actually vegan/vegetarian. I’ve already planned a second trip to this coffee shop to try one, which I rarely do. Overall, I’d recommend Harbinger. It’s in a small-town setting and has a warm, homey vibe. I don’t know if the coffee is worth $4.50, but it’s worth a try if you’re in the area.

Lone Pine Coffee Roasters Menu with Prices 910 NW Harriman St, Bend

Great little coffee shop that always gets a visit when I’m in Bend. friendly, knowledgeable staff with an investment made on quality gear (Mahlkonig grinders) They usually have at least one Ethiopian roast on hand. Espresso drinks are awesome, pour over is just OK. On two visits I’ve noticed flooded beds on the pour resulting on long extraction times. (this is purely subjective, might be perfect for others)

Easy Victor Cafe – Menu with Prices – 517 W 38th St, New York

I popped in here while out for a walk early one morning. I was poking my head in the window, wondering what was going on in this new building and their restaurant space on the street level. The owner saw me gawking and smiled, waving me in. As I walked away, he came out, said hello and asked if I wanted coffee. Shocked by how friendly and welcoming the guy was, given the often surly melancholy of the usual barista types, I stepped on in. Easy Victor is inside the Legacy Records restaurant in the new Henry Hall building, just west of 10th Ave on West 38th street. It is about an avenue block from the Javits Center, so it would definitely be a nice break for convention goers. I loved the luxe art deco Legacy Records space and Easy Victor is in the front part of the restaurant by the front window. I ordered an espresso. It was served in a very nice cup (see pictures). The espresso was perfect. Very well made and the right very-warm-but-not-hot temperature. I will definitely be back.

overwinter coffee – downtown buffalo – Menu with Prices – 9 Genesee St, Buffalo

The name is what drew me in to this downtown coffee nook. It’s not December yet, but I’m already over winter. A warm cup of espresso in the morning makes all the difference, though, like a warm hug from an acquaintance you haven’t seen in a while and bumped into on the street outside the office. You go into the work day briefly forgetting about the other nuisances of life. Not too much bad I can say about this place. My iced coffee was delicious. I am glad there are a few options to buy local around the Tim Horton’s downtown. Many Buffalonians want their money going back into the small business economy, and so Overwinter’s location is perfect for those who want to grab a caffeine fix on their way to the train. Their iced coffee is also cheaper than Tim Horton’s I believe. I paid $2.18 for a small cup. You’re paying slightly more than that for a TH cup.
