Never judge a book by its cover… My family & I have been traveling across Florida for years and so far it has been quite a task trying to locate an authentic Jamaican restaurant with deep roots planted in recreating those delicious meals our grannies or parents used to make on the coal stoves back home. I must say I have now been proven wrong as People’s Choice truly passed my expectations and fulfilled every fiber of our beings. As we say back home, ‘Dem likkle but dem tallawah.’ The food tun up ’til it buck! We had a table of 8 and we all enjoyed all the variety of meals we craved for all day. Thanks to the chef, Junior and Toni for the remarkable and unforgettable experience we had. Our Sunday dinner away from home was the best Jamaican meals we’ve since coming to Florida. We will value this experience and hope that all who enter its door after we leave today will truly be as gratifying as ours. Thanks People’s Choice. Keep up the exceptional work. We wish you all the best in the upcoming months and years. Many your baskets always be full. May all your tables be filled to capacity. May your customers leave with bang guts like we all did. I writ this whole still seated at the table with the itis fully consuming our entire bodies. We love this place. We wish you all the best as you continue to embark on your journey to ensure quality foods are being made in your kitchen.

Aretha’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 118 Cambridge St, Worcester

I had heard about this new Jamaican spot so I figured I would check it out. They take credit cards which is a plus because I never carry cash. They also are spacious if you want to order and sit down to eat. They have a parking lot also. I ordered a medium curry goat dinner which was $12. I believe the small was $10. I have to say it was one of the better tasting Jamaican meals that I have had in Worcesteter and they definitely give you your money’s worth. My only constructive criticism is I wish they had warned it up a little more. It wasn’t still piping hot when I got home. I recommend it if you want quality Jamaican food and are in this part of town.

Crazy Daisies Flower Farm – Menu with Prices – 4693 Kasson Rd, Syracuse

I have never been to this nursery, but the last 2 years they have gone above and beyond to help me send hanging baskets of flowers to my mother in law. They baskets were full and gorgeous and unbelievably reasonable in price. No other nursery in the Syracuse area had hanging baskets of flowers and Crazy Daisies also delivered them for me!! I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin and hanging baskets last all summer where bouquets only last 2 weeks. Thank you so much Crazy Daisies !

Jamaican Cafe – Menu with Prices – 462 Azalea Rd, Mobile

I have been coming to the Jamaican Cafe for years!!!! Mrs. Vivian and her family has proven to be top notch for their customer service and definitely 5 stars For those awesome oxtails!!! She has proven to be very resilient as well after having to rebuild after the accident that closed her down for a couple of months. If you have an opportunity to stop by — whether it is for lunch or dinner you can experience ” superb Jamaican cuisine” and genuine Jamaican hospitality. I love the oxtails and the awesome cornbread but my husband cannot live without the jerk and brown stew chicken. The Jamaican cafe deserves this thumbs up for a job well done ….. from the first moment that I came through the doors until now – – many years later …. Mrs. Vivian and her dedicated family has still been serving up the same awesome cuisine equivalent to their awesome customer service!!!!!! ALWAYS!!!!! Thank you and may God continue to bless you always!!!

Curly’s Caribbean – Menu with Prices – 1892 Abbey Rd, West Palm Beach

I love Curly’s!! The food is readily prepared very quickly, (hardly any wait time!) the staff is friendly and outgoing. More important the food tastes like home! Authentic Jamaican food, seasoned just right, the meat is tender … they take pride in their menu. I can’t recommend anything in particular- I’ve been coming here for 4 years- EVERYTHING is delicious. Especially great because they open earlier than most Jamaican restaurants in the area. Sunday’s are cash only :/ I wish they sold *pork* stew peas, they have beef stew peas. They only negative I can find is it’s in a bad neighborhood/strip plaza, but safe as far as I can tell! Also not so much a sit down to eat place – perfect for take-out!

Kingston Tropical Bakery – Menu with Prices – 4000 White Plains Rd, The Bronx

Love the Jamaican Beef Patties from here. This is one of the top five patties I have ever had. This includes the ones from Jamaica…the real one, not the one in Queens. Was going on a patty hunt a few years ago and made hubby drive me to several places that serve beef patties. Found this one that we both like. Made the kids try them and they also love the beef patty. We are not big on chicken patties so we gave it a go the first time around. It was good but, it is not our thing. So we usually do not buy them. Most of the patrons are Jamaican American. They know good beef patties so, it is a good sign. Sometimes I get a look or two from the people because I am not Jamaican Chinese. I guess they may wonder how I know about their secret patty place…. Research baby…research.

Yeh Mon Caribbean Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1345 Lockland Ave, Winston-Salem

My 1st time here will adjust review as visit go. I love Jamaican food usually eat it 3 or more times a week. It’s just in me. Moved from NY & so far the food is ok here certainly not Jamaica or NY. I was going to another Jamaican place not far from Hey Mon. The food is pretty good for NC. However the service is mehhhhh & for the price portions are SMALL! Got oh mighty they are cheap with the food. So I been driving to Greensboro but mannnnn thats gas. So I did another search online & found this place. Reviews were not so good but I said that was years let me see for myself. Decor: Love it! Looks good for a Jamaican restaurant. Where I been you can great food but place is rundown. Hospitality: Lady was nice. Not warm or very welcooming but atleast not rude. If you been around you know my people can be dry. Food: Had curry chicken. It was good enough that I won’t be going 30 miles out. Portions more than fair. Flavor was definitely there. The vegetable howevwr was a lil lacking I’ve had much better. But I love veggies so Ill eat it. Definitely will be back. Next time Oxtails & they better not be just bones & fatty. Oxtails not cheap I know but I don’t pay for rice n bones.

Reggae Pit Stop Jamaican Grill – Menu with Prices – 5355 Dallas Pkwy #600, Frisco

I love Jamaican food and Due to all the rave reviews I was excited to try this place out! Not to mention the proximity to my home made it especially appealing. I arrived to a very clean, modern aesthetic so I was impressed and proud, althiygh nit Jamaican so nit sure where that oride stemmed from, I digress. The area would suggest such an ambience however anyone that is an adamant Jamaican cuisine lover, such as self, is aware that such impeccable aesthetics is a RARE find. At this point I am pumped to try this food. I must admit the aura of pessimism did come over me. This is too good to be true…this does not look authentic enough…my mind wandered. Once I saw the older Jamaican cashier with “good eating” hips, my mind felt a bit more at ease. I decided to go with a classic to play it safe I ordered Ox Tails it came with two suggested sides or I had the option to choose from anything from the sides menu. I selected rice and peas and cabbage, the Jamaican staples once again. I was told rice and peas would be extra. Which surprised me since that is the staple that typically comes with Jamaican food. Not to mention rice and peas are some of the most cost efficient foods that one can prepare. None the less I paid the $18+ for the meal with high hopes. I went to the ladies room which was simple and clean. When I exited the ladies room, the cashier mentioned she was looking for me and that my food was ready. Speedy service…was that too fast, I thought. In true Jamaican fashion my food was shown to me prior to leaving. I looked up and that’s when I saw her….a WHITE or HISPANIC cook!!!! My stomach flipped. The race is not a factor yet the authenticity of the Jamaican fare certainly was called into question. So you mean to telk me this is a recipe based kitchen? Not a Jamaican taste tested, home, scratch cooked restaurant. That was my second clue of what was to come. I get home still trying to hang onto my optimism since I did pay $20 for this meal. I am all in at this point. Wellllll…I opened the box and saw that there was a “scoop” of rice. Not a healthy distribution of rice and peas under your ox tails that i have become accustomed to expect from Jamaican cuisine. This is what I was upcharged for?! The rice was overcooked and stuck together with pea mush and had no flavor. The cabbage was not Jamaican style with onions and carrots. The cabbage had zero flavor or seasoning. The ox tails were tender yet too salty and I only had three ox tails. The ox tails had fat trimmed which was nice however they were on the smaller side. I was disappointed to say the least! Given the area the reviews make sense. The customers are not very knowledgeable on what good Jamaican cuisine is. I will be driving all the way to the Dallas fair ground area next time I am in need of good Jamaican cusine. It atleast is worth the crappy location and long wait for food. The two stars is for the modern clean decor Jamaican restaurants TAKE NOTE! But since the main point of restaurant is the FOOD 2 stars was the most i could give. I wanted to love this spot yet it fell short

Jennyâ??s Jamaican Food – Menu with Prices – 7337 SE Foster Rd, Portland

Fresh and authentic and affordable Jamaican food. The menu is simple is straight forward. Iâ??ve tried most dishes, and all are very tasty. Also, great prices! (This cart does not charge for the â??cultural exchangeâ?? via the experience eating at the cart.) I would highly recommend! Located 74th and foster , with other seemingly great spots also! The Only con I can think of, is the lack of tasty beverages like teas, lunches, juices etc Also, check hours before going. Other than that, Cheers to some tasty affordable Jamaican food pdx!

Fuzzy?s Taco Shop – Menu with Prices – 3950 Florida Ave S, Lakeland

I was pretty stoked when I’d heard yet another taco spot was coming to town because hey, I like tacos. I like all kinds of tacos from anywhere. But we just got around to trying Fuzzy’s. I was mildly hesitant because a friend told me that her experience resulted in some major gastrointestinal disturbances, if you get what I’m saying. But, we tried it anyway. As much as I love tacos, for some reason I opted for the nachos. Hubs got the mahi tacos. Both were…. underwhelming. The chicken isn’t seasoned very well and if it weren’t covered with ninety pounds of various cheeses, it would’ve been seriously lacking in flavor. The fish tacos… were meh. They were just over cooked and a bit too fishy. He said the beans and rice were both fine, though. We spent $20 for both of our meals, with water to drink. By the way, the water here is like, Central Florida water; it’s not tasty. The people are friendly and they’re quick to clear dishes from the table. As far as my friend’s experience from a previous visit… she wasn’t wrong. The guts… they were unhappy.

Smokin Chikin – Menu with Prices – 1820 Tiny Town Rd Suite A, Clarksville

I really like this place. It’s too bad I don’t live near it as I would frequent it. I ate there with my wife and two children. Cashier was super nice and helpful. On top of lots of variety of sauces for your chicken, they have lots of well chosen sides that I feel would allow most to find something that suits them. My wife got pulled BBQ Chicken with Island Fried Rice and Mac & Cheese. She enjoyed everything but the rice (to be fair, she isn’t a rice fan in general). I got 1/4 White Chicken with Jamaican Jerk sauce (OMG, AWESOME!), Island Fried Rice and Loaded BBQ Chicken Fries. As a lover of rice, I was pleasantly surprised as the rice was perfectly cooked. If you like a little heat definitely get the Jamaican Jerk sauce! With that being said, we were most impressed with the kids meals. They got pulled chicken spread on top of mac and cheese on a plate. It was SUPER yummy! My wife and I each stole a bite from the kids. If I’m in the area again, that’ll definitely be one of my sides.

S & D Coffee Inc – Menu with Prices – 1711 Granby St NE, Roanoke

I worked there for 8 years. Itâ??s a great place to work and everyone is genuinely friendly. The baskets can be made to suit you or bought from our catalog selection. The coffee is outstanding as is the iced tea. Great one of a kind gifts to choose from. Whatâ??s not to love

Necessary Purveyor – Menu with Prices – 723 Lincoln Ln N, Miami Beach

The best farm to table meals I’ve had! I got to enjoy Necessary Purveyor three times during my vacation to Miami. Tyler (the owner) have a wealth of knowledge in culinary art and is a true artist of culinary. The avocado pizza is the best pizza ever, with beet hummus spread on wheat toast. The colors were vibrant and great contrast and taste was delicious and full of nutrients! I also recommend the forager sandwich, I’m not a fan of arugula but it was really good. Also recommend the avocado biscayne boat!! Mirian, who also works there, had pleasant energy like Tyler, both crafted our meals with care and beautiful presentation. If you like farm to table meals, try this place out, very creative meals compared to the usual farm to table I’ve had. If you don’t like farm to table, still, I highly recommend! So good!
