Oh gosh, where to start? One of the few places open this late in the area (2:30 am), this place plays host to a who’s who of the city’s late night revelers. As stated in other reviews, this place has no menu. You show up, you get in line, you have some fun with the cashier, and you get your food. There are two options, meat dumplings or potato dumplings, that is all and they are both tasty. Personally my favorite was the meat but get both because you deserve both. They come in a little container, doused with a light spoonful of spicy cilantro sauce, a mini container of sour cream (essential), and a half piece of dark bread to sop up any residual sauce. It’s simple, it’s delicious, it’s $7 (could be cheaper). This meal will sober you up and if not, it will definitely lay a solid foundation in your stomach for the next morning. The first night we went we were a little unsure but as we confidently walked in the second night, we knew where this place stood in the pantheon of Bellingham establishments. If you happen to get their late and stay until closing, you may just get lucky and walk away with free dumplings as we did (three containers worth)!

Min’s Dumpling House – Menu with Prices – 1297 E Ontario Ave, Corona

I’m leaving my original review down below because I still think it applies. Today I decided to order a pick up order of the dumplings. I am adding another star because I do genuinely really like the chicken dumplings. My opinion on the fact that the only thing you should order from this place is the dumplings stands. I will only come to this location if I’m really craving dumplings (like i was today). But other than that, please refer to my previous opinion on this place below. The first time i tried this place, was when my family brought me a pick up order of their chicken dumplings. I liked them enough to dine in today with my boyfriend. We decided to get the chicken dumplings and pork dumplings. We also decided to mix it up and get some non dumpling entrees… this is where we made our mistake. We got this beef wrap thing because the picture looked good and let me tel you, they STUFF that with cilantro and the beef ratio is outweighed by the other items. We also ordered the kung pao chicken. Again, the meat was outweighed by other items. I’m literally only giving this two starts because the dumplings. The only reason I’d go back is for the dumplings. Disappointed and I wanted a refund but i didn’t wanna be mean to the really nice employees. Edit: I didn’t post this edit the same day because I thought I would be a little harsh if I did. But after posting the review, both me and my boyfriend were having the worst stomach problems. Not to be TMI, but we got food poising just to say the least. Because of this, i don’t see myself coming back to this place.

Joojak Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3337 Kingsway, Vancouver

It’s been a year or two since my first visit to Joojak Restaurant. Been back twice recently. They’re a Northern Chinese hole in the wall spot right next door to Sushi Aji. The inside is small with only 5 tables but service is sweet and run by two ladies who run the front. Nice that they bring you out water and hot tea. The menu is split into Xian specialties, noodle soups, boiled/fried dumplings, wonton soup, soup, vegetables, main dishes, congee and special combos. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 7:00pm) and it was busy. – Xian pork burger (#1) ($5.50) – pork was moist and tender. Dip in vinegar sauce for some extra flavour. – Xian lamb burger (#2) ($5.95) – lamb had a decent cumin rub on it. – Xian cold noodle (#3) ($8.50) – with gluten, bean sprouts and sliced cucumbers. This is legit! Love the springy bite from the noodles. Everyone had a bowl of li piang on their table. – Beef & noodle soup (#10) ($9.95) – broth is plain and simple. Beef slices were thin and tasty. – Dumplings in spicy sour soup (#23) ($11.99) – you choose from four different dumplings; we opted for the pork and chive. You get a dozen dumplings with a solid meat to skin ratio. The wrapper was excellent, broth was well balanced and seaweed was a welcome addition. – Steamed chicken with chili sauce (#36) ($10.99) – this is their best (aka. signature) dish. The chicken is incredibly tender, moist and flavourful. Love the sauce underneath. There’s even bits of pickled vegetable. Wish they gave you a bowl of rice to soak up all the sauce. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Saturday (around noon) and were the only ones there. – Xian pork burger (#1)( $5.50) – our friends ordered one to share. – Green onion pancake (#9) ($4.50) – it’s cut into 8 pieces. A little small but tasty. – Xian cold noodle (#4) ($8.95) – this one is with gluten, sliced cucumbers, bean sprouts and sesame paste. Solid. – Hand pulled noodle with hot chili oil (#13) ($8.95) – first time trying their Biang Biang noodles; good bite but there weren’t a ton of noodles. – Boiled dumpling with pork & bok choy (#19) ($9.95 for 12) – we opted for ours to be boiled. Dumplings are homemade and the pork filling is excellent. – Steamed chicken with chili sauce (#36) ($10.99) – always a must order. Their chicken still reigns supreme. Another solid Northern Chinese spot. Will be back to try their larger main dishes next time.

P&P Thai Food – Menu with Prices – 1940 N 30th Rd #130, Hollywood

Dumplings! Sign me up! As I was walking around the Yellow Green Farmers Market recently I came across a menu sign with dumplings listed at the top. Of course I paused to investigate. I had to look around for the name but found it behind the menu sign, P & P Thai. Their space was a nice size with some counter space & about six stools. The prep/cooking area was clean/organized. Their customers were enjoying (good looking & smelling) the food & the prices were inexpensive, so my husband and I decided to try them. We received quick and polite service as soon as we sat down. We ordered the shrimp dumplings (steamed only) at four pieces for $5. However since they have a $10 minimum credit card charge we decided to try their pork dumplings as well. The pork dumplings were good but the shrimp dumplings were something special. They were plump with a delicious filling in a light but flavorful Asian style sauce. Wow so good! Their menu is small with only about a handful of items but based on their dumplings I look forward to trying their other menu items. And having a few dozen more of those shrimp dumplings ?

Burritos to Go – Menu with Prices – 701 Central Ave #B, Kansas City

Open 24 hours (except on Sunday I think), this place is a great, fast spot for either late night eats or a quick bite in the KCK area. Yes, this place only sells burritos (though they do sell tamales at times), but they offer a tasty variety of burritos that all come in the 3 dollar range. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the Chicharron burrito, which is pork skin cooked in a verde chili sauce. If you want something more traditional, the puerco (red pork) burrito is solid as well. Everything is pre-prepared beforehand, and those used to the normal mexican favorites (asada, carnitas, adovada, etc.) may be disappointed, but if you’re willing to try something different for a cheap price, this place is a real underrated gem in the KCK area (and remember, there are a LOT of Mexican/Central American places in this area). They also serve a fresh-squeezed orange juice that though pricey (3.50 i believe), is quite refreshing and is worth it if you have the cash to spend. Spanish is a plus here, and depending on when you come in, the service can be either great or pretty rough (usually the late night hours the worker/cook can be pretty short with customers, but if you know what to get and aren’t a jerk/inebriated, you should be good) but I don’t think it takes away too much from the charm of the place. The only reason I don’t give this place five stars is though you get the burritos fast, I like freshly cooked/grilled meat than pre-cooked. That being said, the meat/fillings are so good that the combination of taste and speed make it overcome this shortcoming. If you have cash, and looking for a good, solid burrito for three bucks or two for six bucks (great thing too, everything is exact change…a very underrated quality considering the sales tax in Wyandotte county), then this place is great to check out, especially if you’re late night bar hopping in the Strawberry Hill area.

New Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 136-21 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing

Welcome to the neighborhood, New Kitchen! There are more than enough dumpling stalls in Flushing but they are a welcome addition. It gives the reigning favorite a run for it’s title. The menu here is simple and there are choices for everyone. There is pork, chicken, seafood and vegetarian. Each of the meat choices can be made with cabbage or chives. Each order comes with 12 dumplings so totally shareable if you choose to be nice. Or smart and then you can eat even more. We ordered the pork and chive dumplings along with the chili oil wontons. The chili oil wontons comes 10 to an order. First, be patient and wait a minute before you take a big bite. Dumplings are cooked to order and they are juicy little suckers. It’s not XLB broth but there are definitely juices in the dumplings. They will squirt and burn if not careful. The pork and chives dumplings are a nice balance of meat to chives. The flavors of each ingredient complement each other and nothing is over powering. The wrappers are homemade but they aren’t that thick which I prefer. They hold in all the juices and flavor like a precious cargo. There are side dishes available and some noodles and soups too. I am excited to try those on my next visits. The owner is super sweet and puts so much love in each dumpling. He runs a very clean stall and there are some seating available. Take a seat and watch the magic happen. You can order frozen ones to take home but I think you might have to call ahead. I would definitely visit before everyone decides to come and the wait becomes too long.

The Pumping Company – Menu with Prices – 1463 W Leland Ave, Chicago

This is the sister delivery company of Chicago Grilled Cheese and Mac Factory. Ordered take out and it was fast. Placed order online at 5:35 pm and the guy was at our door at 5:55 pm. Order the following: Pulled Pork Sandwich with French Fries for Dr M – pork was really good, nice and tender. Good BBQ flavor, wasn’t swimming in sauce (which I hate). Nice size sandwich…bun was toasted. Fries were hot and seasoned. Pot Roast (Dinner) for the Heiress Apparent – this was a big entree. Lots of potatoes and gravy on the bottom and a big pile of meat on top. Again the meat was tender and potatoes were good. I am bias when it comes to potatoes, so you really have to f*ck them up for me to not like them. She also got a Cookie Skillet with ice cream. Cookie came in a separate container and was warm with a side of chocolate sauce. Ice cream was in a separate container. Standard dessert. Steak Wrap with mashed potatoes and gravy – I got this. Veggies were fresh but not a lot of meat in the wrap. It was light and had a good flavor, but I would not order this again. Overall this was a solid performance and I would definitely order from them again. I will consider upgrading the review once I try something else.

Pin-Up Bowl – Menu with Prices – 6191 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis

Great Hang in The Loop! Delmar Blvd has its share of good bar and restaurant, and if you’re a concert goer like me, you want a place to hang before big shows at The Pageant and Delmar Hall. Look no further than down the street. Pin-Up Bowl is your place. I’ve been going to Pin-Up for as long as they’ve been open, but lately it’s been more frequent because of my concert schedule. Depending on the act, I might go into Halo Bar early, but if I’m in no rush, Pin-Up is great for a few pints and a snack. And let’s not forget the bowling. You can bowl until two in the morning every night of the week! It’s a great idea for a late night hangs or even scheduling an event. Their beer selection is pretty solid. I usually don’t have any trouble finding something new to drink, and they even have a weekday hour happy from 4-7 that features $3 Schlafly beers. The service usually very good, too. Olivia was bartender last time, and she was pretty awesome! If you’re looking for a late night bar or wanting to bowl somewhere more exciting than your average alley, you should check out Pin-Up Bowl in The Loop.

Big Big Dumpling – Menu with Prices – 133-35 Roosevelt Ave #9, Flushing

Big Big Dumpling resides inside the New York Food Court and they are too big for their surroundings. They had to name it twice as ?BIG?BIG! The amount of dumplings they crank out by hand everyday belies their little food stall. For a meager amount of your wallet cabbage, you can be loaded up to the tune of 16 of the boiled pork and cabbage pockets for a mere $6.99 for the large box. I know I can’t finish that many in one sitting so I’ll get a couple of different combos to share if I can. If you’re by yourself and can’t really handle a large box, a couple of dollars less will get you a medium box. They are still great resteamed or microwaved the next day, so don’t worry about wasting. Combinations of fish, pork, shrimp, cabbage, fennel, chives or plain veggie are matched on the menu, so choose your preference. I’m willing to bet if you want a custom mix of filling and willing to buy say 50+, they will accommodate you. As I’m waiting for my order, I love watching the ladies rolling out the dough balls, stuffing them with meat and pinching them closed in the span of about 10 seconds each. Most types are boiled, but can be pan-fried for more of a flavor pop. Mix the soy dipping sauce with some hot sauce and the flavor really explodes. Other menu items such as the sesame and cucumber noodles are not bad, but I’ve had better, though not cheaper. The dumplings are what’s happening here.

Yang’s Dumplings – Menu with Prices – 196 Quincy St, Boston

I order food for the workplace on the regular, and I have been trying to change it up lately. I didn’t know much about Yang’s Dumplings, but given that it was Chinese New Year earlier this week, I wanted dumplings bad and gave Yang’s a chance. I ordered ~300 dumplings for my colleagues, and they loved it! Many of them even asked for the restaurant afterwards. The dumplings are fresh and hot upon delivery, and they taste homemade. No surprise there, given that it’s a family business. Also, my brief interactions with them have all been very pleasant. For large parties, you can order the “Taste of Everything”, which consists of 200 steamed veggie, chicken, pork, and shrimp dumplings (50 each). There’s the “Plate of Everything Platter”, which has 420 dumplings, but if you have a smaller crowd, there’s the “Bite of Everything Platter”, which has 80 dumplings. (There are more options if you order through ezCater.com.) Delivery is prompt, punctual, and pretty cheap. Tl;dr – Switch up your catering with dumplings! Yang’s delivers in more ways than one.

Sing Wok Chinese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 353 E 204th St, The Bronx

I went on a hunt for a new Chinese store on 204th. I tried four competitors before trying this place. I’m glad I did because their food is the best in terms of flavor, freshness and presentation and delivery time. Some of my favorite dishes include, The tostones which not dry. Their fried crab Rangoon are bite sized and pack a lot of flavor. Their rib tips are tender, and I always ask for a lot of BBQ to be added. Also, the steamed pork dumplings are fresh and flavorful. The dumplings come with dipping sauce that is a little too salty for me, so I substituted the sauce for my own low sodium soy sauce to help reduce sodium intake. I’m a picky eater and this spot has earned my business. Im looking forward to the next Chinese food night.

Sam’s Gyros y Tacos – Menu with Prices – 3095 Fort Campbell Blvd H, Clarksville

I went in to get an order of fries for a friend and decided to get a Bulgogi Gyro for myself. I was going to get a Combo and let my friend, whom I was dropping off the fries for, have my fries. So I asked if they could put the fries into a separate container? Simple Enough?? Well I was told I couldnâ??t do that because my order of fries and the ones I would order separately were two different sizes. After trying to figure this reasoning out I finally said fine just give me a second order of fries. . I was a bit upset that they couldnâ??t figure out how to put the fries in a separate container, but afterwards was happy that they didnâ??t because my order was Hot, Fresh , and delicious. My Gyro was also delicious, so I have to say it worked out Okay . . I would recommend them, but a word of advice. Keep the order Simple

Dumpling Darling – Menu with Prices – 212 E 3rd St, Des Moines

I took my two adult children to lunch here as weâ??ve been hearing good things. I ordered a side of fried Brussels sprouts with Korean BBQ sauce which was an adequate portion to be shared by 3 or 4 people. I also ordered a small size (5) Leslie Lamb steamed dumplings. The Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfect consistency and the sauce for me was just right- covered without being overbearing and diminishing the crunch. The dumplings were so delicious with great flavor. My daughter had the Hoisin Pork Bao (2 large sized) and the fried Mac and Cheese dumplings and loved both. My son had a side of edamame ( choices of spicy or sea salt) and the avocado crab Rangoon fried dumplings. He enjoyed the dumplings but did say for His preference the side sweet and sour sauce lacked much flavor( he likes spicy foods). Our meal was $33 minus tip. Great value as I took home a take out box with a meal of sides and 1 steamed dumpling leftover. The door to the restaurant is left open and there was a pesky fly that visited our table throughout the meal which was a tad annoying. Service was friendly yet I could have used a return visit during the meal for more water. (I didnâ??t ask and we were checked on after our food was delivered). We all found many options we could have ordered and based on our enjoyment of todayâ??s selections we wouldnâ??t have been disappointed.
