We were scouring yelp looking for a new place to go to and found the Park Tavern. Wasn’t sure since it was apart of the Ice Arena but it was actually pretty nice and you really didn’t notice (unless you went and looked) that they were together. The location is nice and the inside is modern and updated. They have a decent size patio with the fancy garage doors that open up to the bar where you can also sit. While we were there there was a live band outside. The band was pretty good and the type of music was enjoyable, HOWEVER it was WAY TOO LOUD! We were sitting at the bar, inside, and as far from the music as you could get and kept saying how it wasn’t even worth trying to have a conversation with how loud it was. Even the staff was having difficulty talking without asking again. We initially wanted to sit outside but were glad there weren’t seats with how loud it was. We went just to get some beers but also got the chips and dips appetizer. The pita was really good and we LOVED the hummus! It was on point. They also had an olive tapenade dip that was great. The tzatziki was good but nothing special, especially after it got warm. The regular menu was outdated the waitress said, so most the drinks on it they didn’t have as listed. So that was kind of weird. Someone down the bar got chicken fingers from the kids menu and they looked so good and were also the largest kids portion I’ve ever seen! (That’s what I’d get if we went again!) Overall, we were surprised with how nice the location was and it didn’t feel like you were at the ice arena. There was a big park nearby and it is dog friendly here. We just had beer and one appetizer but were happy with both. They had live music on this Saturday, however it was WAY to loud. The music being to loud and the menu being outdated were a bit disappointing because we couldn’t hang out as friends without yelling and didn’t know what they actually had. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming here again in the future and giving it another shot. This is a good family atmosphere and there were a few family’s there with the kids tagging along with a Shirley temple or two ?

The Cold Brew Rock Bar – Menu with Prices – 920 Iturbide St Suite A, Laredo

The Cold Brew is where I got my beginning in the live music scene. I used to play here with my band nearly ten years ago. Itâ??s stays true to it being a Rock Bar offering live music, comedy, and karaoke. Highly recommend to come visit this welcoming place.

Bistro Nomad – Menu with Prices – 1430 Locust St, Des Moines

This place has a perfect spot with a perfect view of the Sculpture Park and with it’s huge windows, it’s perfect to do a little people watching safe inside the restaurant. They have the perfect decor and live music playing so that definitely zhoosh it up a little. The drinks we ordered came out just perfect and not greedy with the alcohol and our waitress greeted right as we sat down. We ordered a few appetizers, Fries with Aioli sauce and some Hummus. I’ll say this… the fries were on the “To Share” section of the menu and let’s be real they definitely weren’t. I could probably get 2 orders and still wouldn’t be enough for me. I won’t knock off any points as I think the aioli was great but come on… a little more on the plate would be nice too. If you love mediterranean you’ll love this place. I got the Tomato Roasted Cod and it was perfectly tomato-y. Of course I’m that guy at our table who has to taste all my friends’ food so going around I think the Salmon is where it’s at. It was cooked perfectly with tons of flavor. Also the marinated leg of lamb was something I really enjoyed and almost had food envy, not that my food was not great but that lamb was juicy. Next time I come back, I really want to try to the octopus. Don’t mean to brag but I’ve been to Greece and that’s pretty much all I ate when I was there so I have pretty high standards for it. I say this place is nice to even just go for drinks and live music. I don’t know if they actually have a live band every night but I’ve been there twice and they did those two nights.

Forte Jazz Lounge – Menu with Prices – 477 King St #475, Charleston

I looked online for live jazz in Charleston and came across this gem! I knew it was recently opened but didn’t know their soft opening was only 3 days old! They currently only serve craft beer and a few wines and hopefully this will expand as they flourish. The concessions were limited to chips and water from what I could see. The chips could get loud for those who don’t know how to chew properly â?. The decor is nice in blues on the walls and even the floor. They have a small art gallery as you go into the room where the live music is. Inside the live music room is where that beautiful mural is that is posted online. It’s even more amazing in person as you get to see the shimmer and bling the student artists of Charleston School of the Arts included in the design. The seating has various levels in price. The couches, which are closest to the stage are the more expensive, then the next level of seating is the tables, followed by general admission seating, which includes tables lined along the wall behind each other. If you plan to purchase the general admission seats and you’re with your partner or date, just know you won’t be sitting next to each other but behind each other. Saturday we arrived about 7:40 to hear Rochelle Whitley Green. She was good as well as the band (piano, Richard Wright, Jr, bass, Roman Picar, & drums, Mary, forgot her last name) who was with her. I think at times the bass player seemed to struggle to keep up as he read the music but otherwise the show was good. They performed many standards and she even danced during the show. There is room to dance up front near the stage and behind the seating area. She will be performing again the end of the month. The owner’s big band will be performing for the grand opening weekend September 5th. I look forward to supporting them each time I’m in Charleston and hope they do well.

music and spirits – Menu with Prices – 2215 Plank Rd, Fredericksburg

Here to see music. Its set up like a theatre and not a music venue. Made for a poor experience. There is the stage with live music which was most excellent. Then in prime real estate are folding chairs set up in rows perfect for quiet viewing and we’ll mannered zombie audience as the band plays. Hemming in the space with the chairs are church pews emphasizing the ‘be quite’ behavior of the crowd. Behind this set up are tables for dining from the food truck. Nice but bad placement. There is a food truck who will bring you your orders which is good. Any dancing or moving to the live music has to happen on the fringes or behind the people having dinner. Nothing about this set up let’s you enjoy a crowd, to dance, or to get close to some really good live music. Such a shame. such a waste. Then after the first set the house lights got turned on. Totally killed any good vibes

Six Springs Tavern – Menu with Prices – 147 N Plano Rd, Richardson

Last night me and my husband went to hear live music. $15.00 cover for each of us. That would of been ok if the music was decent. The Nathan Perry Band was incredibly slow and horrible!! The second band, we listened to a half of the first song and left. The bartender asked what kind of tequila we wanted in the margarita, not letting us know it was going to be a $5.00 up charge for Jose AND the cost of the margarita. We paid $7.00 for a small solo cup of watered down sweet and sour. Needless to say….. we won’t be visiting again. I hope the other 16 people that were there had a better experience than we did.

Mariscos Ixtapa – Menu with Prices – 4093 University Ave, Riverside

I had fried tilapia and a michelada. The food was good and came out on time, as did the drink. No complaints about the kitchen staff. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. The service, however, was sub-par and not what I expected. It was Friday, so they had a live band. That is a big draw and the music is nice. We just weren’t expecting it to be so loud. We came in with a 1 year old baby and were seated at a booth directly in front of the speakers before we realized a band was going to play. We received our drinks and put a food order in when they started playing. The volume out of the speakers was so loud that you could not speak without shouting. And the volume could not have been good for the baby. I brought it up to the waitress, eventually, that “we weren’t expecting it to be this loud when we sat down”, but she just stared at my like I was an idiot, walked away and did nothing about it. When we finished our food, the plates sat there empty for about ten minutes. Our server made eye contact with me three times before she came over so we could be bussed and given our check. With the check, came the manager. I shared with him exactly what I said to the server and he, at first, thought we just didn’t like the music, saying “people request this type of music”. I repeated “we didn’t expect to be seated in front of the loud speaker with a baby” and that it was “too loud for his ears”. He only said sorry and that was the end of his complaint resolution. I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years in all positions of the restaurant. Even at small places I worked at, our complaint resolution was never just a half-hearted apology with an excuse, but offered incentive to return through problem solving (offering to move us earlier or turning the volume of the speaker down just a bit so that we might stay for another drink or a dessert) or a small monetary incentive to come back (offering a discount). Based off of my experience and my unbiased first impression of the restaurant, their servers and managers are not skilled at complaint resolution or problem solving. They need more consideration and overall desire for encouraging repeat business.

Commonwealth Brewing – Menu with Prices – 2444 Pleasure House Rd, Virginia Beach

This place is pretty awesome! We came on a holiday afternoon and they were pretty packed. It was hard to find a parking lot but after waiting a bit we were able to find one in the back. They had live music playing that entertained the crowd. They also had a couple pop up companies present: The Coop food truck, which I didn’t get a chance to try but am now dying to. (I looked at the menu on the way out.). Smores Amore was also there with their PistachiOMG is a signature blend chocolate brownie leaded with pistachios and covered in chocolate ganache…topped with pistachiosso beer marshmallow. We of course indulged on all 3 they had available today. We went in to check out the scene and it was just “fun!” Live music and plenty of seating makes for a great day! They had a good assortment of house made beers all infused with everything from sea salt, pistachios, cacao, fruits of all kind including kumquats and calamansi. I am not a beer expert by any means, but I will say their Marmalade was delicious (& stout). For those also not much into beer, they do have non alcoholic drinks available such as Kombucha, la Croix, root beer, and sodas. So awesome they allow dogs inside. The inside was a bit loud with the music playing. I like music like the next person, but it was too loud for my little one, my husband had to take him for a walk. I’d definitely come back sometime, without my little one, and try another drink. I’d also be looking for who else they have as a pop up!

Dead Poet: Beer, Cocktails, Music Menu with Prices 623 E Boyd Dr, Baton Rouge

I’ve been here a couple of times to hear some live music. While I am not a fan of paying covers, I understand part of the cover does go to the musicians. And it’s Tigerland, so I guess the college kids are used to paying covers. I love the artwork around the building – if you have not come here for the music, coming to see the walls is reason enough to come. Stunning and room for more of the “dead poets” to come. Staff was friendly, but on my first visit, the bar was out of at least four things I tried to order. I settled for a beer i drink more often. Seating was pretty limited, but i think it would have been better had a photo shoot not been taking over the entire top level. None of the locks in the bathroom worked, but there wasn’t high traffic on this night. The sound system went out a couple of times while the band was on stage, but it was a really easy-going crowd and band, so it was all good. I’ll be selective in my nights to return to to Dead Poets, but it’s a pretty good venue if you want to trek out to the LSU area.

Solid Grounds Coffee House Menu with Prices 4601-4699 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, Albuquerque

Solid Grounds Coffee House is an outreach ministry of St. Steven’s Methodist Church. Every Saturday night the doors open at 6:30 and the band starts at 7pm and plays 2 sets ending at 9pm…encores highly discouraged. There is a different band each week, a few are local, but artists drop in from all over with the Austin music scene being especially well represented. When there are 5 Saturdays in a month, one will be an open-mic night. This venue operates on a donation basis, so bring some cash to drop in the box. While good live music is the point, it is still a church. Few of the bands have a religious focus, but they will be sure to feature a Jesus tune if they have one. You can expect a 10 minute or so overtly religious message before the second set. The location is the lower level (basement with outside access) on the north side of the building.

LAS ISLAS EN PONCHOS – Menu with Prices – 4250 E 4th Plain Blvd, Vancouver

Been here a couple times. But today January 8, 2018 was the worst experience. In fact I did not even get that far. I was sat down by a waitress which I could barely here over the loud gangster rap music. I come here because it’s seafood Mexican food. I would assume there would be some sort of Mexican music playing in the background. Yes it was inappropriate loud and yes there was plenty of cussing in the song. Needless to say I would not bring my family here with my kids with that type of music playing it just kills the whole vibe you’re supposed to get from a place like this. Needless to say I probably won’t be back for a while if at all. If there was somebody in charge or a manager I suggest the look over there playlist first.

Bahia Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1476 W Buckingham Rd, Garland

Overall our experience was a mixed bag. We came here on a Saturday evening for a late dinner and drinks. We made reservations for six and when we arrived I don’t think they had any idea who we were. They initially seated us in a very cramped table that only fit four, but minutes later the hostess found us another table were we were actually able to all sit down. The restaurant was packed and very loud. So one of the main attractions to this restaurant was the live music. When we arrived there was a DJ playing. The music here is extremely loud and it makes it very difficult to speak to the waiters or to anyone else on your table. The band did come in around 11pm and they played a variety of music including salsa and merengue. Overall the music was good throughout the whole evening. They have a large open area for dancing and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. For dinner I had a mixed fajita plate and my wife had the vuela a la vida coctel. The food is just okay, but taking the price into consideration makes it a good deal. The majority of their plates are lower priced than most restaurants with a similar menu. Other than the stale chips and salsa the rest of the meal was fine. We did order a couple of buckets of beer and mixed drinks throughout the night. The mixed drinks were not a hit, all the ladies did not finish their drinks. No complaints on the buckets of beer, I think they sell at $19 for six which is not a bad price. The service was also hit or miss. The waitress took forever on the mixed drinks but had our buckets of beer delivered to our table quickly. As mentioned before it’s difficult to hear due to the music so we were constantly repeating orders. The food came out quickly with no issues. Overall I recommend this place if you are looking for a cheap dining option and/or looking for some live music where your not going to spend a ton. There is definite room for improvement throughout but for the price you can’t complain too much.
