I’m not a big fried food person but my friend recommended I try this place. I’m shocked at all the bad reviews idk why black ppl are way tougher on other black owned business like so what they joke & talk behind the register? Y’all petty. Anyway I ordered the tilapia fish and chips with shrimp. These were literally the largest shrimp I’ve ever seen in my life! I legit never knew shrimp grew this big! & the seasoning was amazing they have the best fish fry seasoning I’ve ever had anywhere Even the fish places in LA. I loved the big cut fries. I will say this though very very minor..they could stand to cut back on the salt just a little ! But still good & I can’t wait to go back for lunch today. The bad thing was my wait. I understand it’s fresh so it’s not quick but I ordered my food & after 30 minutes I noticed everyone who ordered after me getting their food first. After I finally said something the girl up front finally asked “what was your order again?” Smh MY ORDER WAS NEVER MADE OR PUT THROUGH ! after another 15 minutes it was ready but the shocker is no one said anything or offered anything complimentary for the bad service they just tried to act like it didn’t happen ! But only after she noticed my attitude she finally mumbled under her breath “oh sorry they had lost your ticket” (eye roll) I’m assuming she whispered it because it was really her fought & she got so busy she forgot to send my order to the kitchen. The staff gotta get that professionalism & customer service together. But honestly I was so pleased by the food I STILL won’t take away a star because it was outstanding & that’s what it’s about, the food. Lastly I typically HATE tarter sauce but they have THE BEST TARTAR SAUCE IN THE WORLD ! Do not leave without it ! Really great clean place!

LA Hot Food – Menu with Prices – 1414 Moss St, Lafayette

Finally got to try this place out, perfect spot to go during lent season! Place is pretty small, and it gets pretty packed! Its a to-go place, so there is no seating, but they get you in and out quick! Food is cooked to order, so the you food is always fresh. The people here is friendly and helpful! We had the following: – Shrimp – huge butterflied shrimp, not too much breading! Delicious! – Fish – strips of crispy fried fish, cooked to perfection! This is probably the only time I would choose fish over shrimp! Must get the house made sauces! Tartar sauce well went really well with the seafood, but I also had the honey mustard, which was also good. I cannot wait to come back to try out their other items!

T’s Seafood – Menu with Prices – 3200 Tait Terrace, Norfolk

I was wandering around norfolk with a crazy hankering for steamed shrimp & stumbled across Ts! It’s a basic takeout seafood market, I came in ordered a 1/2 lb of steamed. I almost said “heavy seasoning” but stopped myself for some reason & im glad I did bc the shrimp was (imo) super spicy! I’ve never had steamed shrimp with that much KICK! I really enjoyed it & the shrimp were super plump! If you’re not a fan of spicy food I would definitely let them know to go ez on the seasoning prior to completing the order.

Hunting Island Fish Market Menu with Prices 2664 Barton Chapel Rd, Augusta

This restaurant seems to be a local favorite in the area. The cuisine is a mixture of Asian/Chinese food with southern fried seafood. Apparently this is a major concept in the Augusta area for fish markets and Chinese/Korean restaurants. Nonetheless, the food is good. I have dined here several times. You can call in and place an order or place one in person. It also offers fish, uncooked seafood for sale as well. The fried rice is good and a fan favorite. The egg rolls I ordered was made fresh with nice crisp cabbage. The fried fish is ok. The steamed shrimp is great to order especially the spicy steamed shrimp. The fried shrimp is good. Preferably I prefer the steamed seafood than the fried because of the seasoning. I really cannot rate the customer service because I normally try to get my order and get out. Good decent takeout food to grab.

Kelly’s Cajun Grill – Menu with Prices – 1 Mills Cir, Ontario

I ordered their shrimp and fish plate. First of all i did not get my fish. This wasn’t a big deal they did get me a giant piece of fish which they put on my plate. The real problem occurred when i was taking the shell off the shrimp after eating my fish. There i saw the colon was still in there. This indicates that the shrimp was not cooked properly thus this could of lead to severe food poisoning due to the obvious diseases found in the unclean colon of any animal. The manager refused to give me a refund because i ate the fish which is ridiculous since the fish was so big it would be the first thing anyone would eat before the shrimp. I urge you to avoid this place unless you are a fan of uncooked/improperly prepared food

Steam it Up Seafood – Menu with Prices – 5304 Sunset Rd, Charlotte

I wanted seafood, so after work I said in the lot until I found a place to go. Steam it up came up with good reviews, close to home, we have a winner! I pulled up and a few cars were waiting on the curb for their food. I was greeted when I walked in by a friendly young lady. She explained that the fried side of the menu comes with fries, hushpuppies & slaw; and the steamed side comes with 2 sides of choice & choice of seasoning. She also pointed the flounder out on the specials board but explained flounder isn’t a special that it’s a daily menu option. I took a few minutes to review the menu and then ordered Fried flounder fried hard & shrimp with the fries, hushpuppies and slaw. Home run Steamed crab & lobster with broccoli & potatoes. A side of fried lobster. I was told it would be a 20 minute wait so I joined the others and sat in my car. After 20 minutes I went back inside but my food wasn’t quite ready. They came out and told me the steamer went down and they needed to clean it, but apologized was the longer wait and offered me one of their Fresh Squeezed Lemonades. She listed all of the flavors and I chose the tropical one I believe, she explained they have a lot of sugar then went to hand it to me before she stopped and said “wait, you’re not a diabetic are you.” This caught me way off guard so I said no. But I am & it’s not their job to regulate my sugar or ask me about my medical state. All you need to do is say it’s high sugar and then let me decide. I felt like she wasnt going to give it to me if I said yes. Now I dont think she was purposely being rude & I appreciate the concern but she did a bit much. Finally my food was ready after a 40 minute wait. I opened the bag and checked my boxes, mainly concerned that my shrimp wouldn’t be crispy. It was so after I asked for a few more tarter sauces I went on my way. So I partly blame myself for the fact that I somehow ended up with fried corn when i sat down to eat once home. There wasn’t a single hushpuppy or fry in sight. No one informed me I would receive anything different so I was super annoyed. I tried a bite of corn, didn’t wow me and I’m not a fan of fried vegetables anyway so I trashed both pieces. On to the fish, shrimp, slaw, pickled onions & tarter. The slaw and pickled onions were both good & pretty typical. The fish was seasoned very well and very crispy. Wasn’t the best quality flounder but the seasoning made up for that. I went to use my tarter, first off they put it in the tiniest of containers. I requested 2 extra to basically make a whole. They also provide some other sauce that I’m not sure what it was. The tarter sauce was quite delicious and the other sauce was pretty good though I probably would swap it out for more tarter next time. The tartar seemed homemade, different and packed a lot of flavor, but id rather have my traditional tarter for my fish pieces and use theirs on a fish sandwich, which I plan to try next time. I used the mystery sauce on a shrimp, and while it was ok, I grabbed my cocktail out the fridge and used that instead as well as for my fish which I never use cocktail for. I also ate the fried lobster. Again seasoned very well.. wouldve been better though with regular butter. I was not a fan of the butter sauce they provided, it was a weird flavor for me. I also didn’t find it necessary to have it on a kabob stick. I haven’t tried the steamed plate or lemonade yet. But I’ll update this review when I do eat it tonight. In conclusion, I received the wrong sides with my fried plate and I’m not the biggest fan of any of their sauces, but the seafood was seasoned and fried very well, and service was great, so I will definitely be returning for that.

Mariscos Los Lechugas – Menu with Prices – 5244 Huntington Dr S, Los Angeles

We buy from here at least every week if not every other week! But their fish tacos are BOMB!!! Today I actually tried their shrimp taco and that was really good as well! (I had actually order fish tacos but they gave me shrimp but no complaint because it was good.) I think they have one of the best fish tacos that you can find! Their mix tostada is really good too! I like that their salsa size to go for there tacos is really reasonable, their not stingy with it. The tostadas sauce is Smaller but I’d say it’s still enough. If your craving fish tacos I honestly recommend you to come here. They sometimes do run out of Fish for their tacos, but just call ahead of time and they’ll let you know. It’s not even summer and you’ll see this place always having people. Their friendly and not mean, I’ve never encountered bad service here so hope you don’t either. Most of all I really like that it’s a food truck because you can see what they do. I recommend you to come and try these delicious tacos!

Newt’s Crab Trap – Menu with Prices – 2420 N Dixie Hwy, Hollywood

Location- This is inside of a dirty, unorganized hole-in-the-wall bodega. It is hard to find. Find the Bodega and go in. It’s in the back. Ambiance- It is dirty. Table is dirty. Dust and splattered dried on food on the shelf just above and left of our table. Very limited seating. Mistmatched bar stools. 3 small high tops. 1 3-seat lower table with molded plastic seats. They play music in the kitchen, and you will have to listen to that. Its mostly 80s alternative and rock. Timing- They literally only cook one tables’ food at a time. They do not cook more than one thing at once, even if using different cooking methods. Most people ordered the steamed crabs and shrimp, those come out quickly and are *smothered with Old Bay Seasoning. LOTS. I had fish tacos. After about 40 minutes from the time we ordered, Newt came out and said he didn’t have the Mahi I ordered and said he could only do the snapper at that price. After an hour, we still had no food. Bf went up and asked them. The staff (Newt’s son?) was rude to him and told him “others were before you” and “we are working on it”. Again, they do not have the ability to cook more than one person’s food at a time, apparently. So prepare for a LONG wait, listening to 80’s music blasted from a boombox in the kitchen. Food- it was just ok, and definitely not my style. The fish tacos have very dry slaw and Grey Poupon on them. Everything else is smothered in Old Bay Seasoning and garlic sauce. You have to get your drinks in the bodega and pay up front, then come back to eat. They do not serve the tables. Bf waited at the bar to order. They did bring the food out at least, an hour and 10 minutes after we ordered it (…for fish tacos and shrimp & grits). ?Also, most of the meals are $25-32 each. $$$. Overall- Yelp really let us down on this one. 40-some 5-star reviews? Completely unbelievable to me based on my visit. But, apparently someone out there likes this laid-back no-frills salt-filled dirty spot. All the more power to ya. Just not my cup of tea.

Tidewater Seafood – Menu with Prices – 7483 Tidewater Dr, Norfolk

First and last time visited 4/18/2018. I order the crab cake and shrimp platter $14.00 I asked the cashier if I could get the shrimp steamed. He proceeded to tell me you are not going to like it streamed. I gave him the “kermit the frog” look. How do you know what I am going to like. I said well don’t you put Obay seasoning or something on your steamed shrimp. His response I can do that if you would like. I said never mind let me leave it as is. The smell in the place had a horrible fish smell. I guess they don’t change the grease often. I had to wait outside while they prepared it because it penetrated my clothes in less than 5 minutes. Highly disappointed. Crab cake tasted like something but it wasn’t crab. I took one bite of it. The shrimp were ok fried really hard and small. French fries were covering everything. The fries were good. The hush puppies had no taste at all. Definitely not worth 14.00 Drive a little further for a better quality.

El Dorado Authentic Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 311 Palomar St, Chula Vista

El Dorado is one of my favorites out of the many excellent under-the-radar Chula Vista Mexican restaurants that need to be getting more love than they do. They serve a fantastic “Shrimp Taco” owing mainly to their sizable shrimp, sweet and clean, battered and deep-fried until crispy. Slaw and white sauce on top are on-point and applied in reasonable ratios, and the red sauce from the salsa bar is pure fire and must be added. The “Fish Taco” is the same thing, but with fish instead of shrimp. It’s a decent fish taco, but it doesn’t work as well as the shrimp does. What you must really get here, however, are the “Camarónes a la Diabla,” a dish consisting of taut prawns in a spicy, rich, and garlicky sauce of roasted tomatoes and chipotle peppers. In San Diego, I have never eaten a superior version of this coastal classic than what is served at El Dorado with rice, refried beans, and fresh avocado to take off some of the fiery bite. I want you to love this place, so I must manage expectations appropriately: El Dorado is a low-key and quiet “mom ‘n pop” restaurant in a small strip mall, probably more ideal for lunch than dinner. Food/Décor/Service: 4.5/2.9/NA #SummerOfTastyTacos – Taco Tracker: https://bit.ly/2IHTmfY Taco Score: Shrimp Taco (92/100), Fish Taco (80/100) What to Order: Camarónes a la Diabla, Shrimp Taco

Angie’s Fish and Wings – Menu with Prices – 5015 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa

Had lunch here with a coworker today. This location used to be Sam’s Southern Eatery and while the name has changed, the menu looks very familiar. The building is old and could use some TLC as it is rather run down, but I came for the food not the ambience. I ordered the 3 Fish, 3 Shrimp platter which came with two sides. I opted for half fried, half grilled with fried okra and red beans & rice. My friend ordered a 10 piece BBQ wings with fries and okra. Being lunchtime it was rather busy and our orders came out in about 20 minutes. The portions are very generous as my fish and shrimp came on one plate, while the okra was in a basket of it’s own and the beans and rice in a small bowl. The grilled fish and shrimp was delicious and had a savory seasoning. It was so good I finished that before moving on to the fried portions. The fried….two fillets and 2 huge shrimp. Mmm good. My friends wings also looked great. He was hesitant to come here, but left satisfied. Give this place a try. While the decor is lacking, the food makes up for it……and if that’s not enough, you won’t leave hungry.

Casa Viva Mexican/Seafood – Menu with Prices – 18911 S Tamiami Trail #17, Fort Myers

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. We came in and sat down and it was at least 10 minutes before we ever even saw an employee. She finally came over and handed us some worn out dirty menus. We ordered guacamole and chips to start. It was a bowl full of some kind of soupy avocado mixture and came with a small amount of chips. It had an odd flavor and was not good. We did not receive any chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants offer. Two of us had the fish tacos which came with some fried shrimp on the side and French Fries. Not sure why tacos do not come with rice & beans. The “fish taco” was one small piece of fried fish, not even as long as the tortilla, with a little cabbage and a lot of sauce. Not good. The fried shrimp were really just some breading and a tail. The only reason I give them 2 stars is because the prices are low, our beer was cold and my husband had chicken enchiladas that he enjoyed. The service was not good and the place could use a deep cleaning.

Murdock’s Quality Seafood – Menu with Prices – 4610 Prospect Ave, Kansas City

This is a straight up fish market that carries the basic fish and seafood options that African-Americans (black folks, urban dwellers….”smh”…..there is no politically correct way) like. No they don’t have your shark or tuna but they have buffalo and catfish and my childhood favorite whiting, plus theres frog legs, shrimp and crawdads thrown in for good measure. And if you need the seasoning to use for it they have an awesome selection available in sizes from little to big to fry up a whole mess of fish and have one giant fish fry with your friends. The staff was helpful and efficient and knew what they were doing as they was cutting my fish down to size. This is one of those places that when I want to feed a group that I would come too first.
