There is a bunch of competition for Kebabs in the Fremont area and this is a place that sells both Kebabs and Pizza. They were out of several items on the menu when we popped by. We elected to go with the Kebabs. Service was friendly but when we went it was just a one man operation. Super friendly gentleman but the food did take a while to get out and he also was the cashier/cook. The kebabs themselves were very tender and flavorful which we enjoyed. Rice was just o.k. as was the bread that came with. The aesthetics of the place also left a lot to be desired. Some of the tables were dirty. They were missing silverware in the area where you bus your own table. Some of the tables/chairs were wobbly as well. Struggled between a 2 and 3 star review but the service was friendly albeit slower than some of it’s competitors nearby. If you like my reviews, consider “following” my profile for reviews all across the SF Bay Area . Why “follow” someone? It causes the person you follow’s reviews to tier to top when you pull up a business. I find this very handy when researching venues. Rod’s Review grading scale explained. Essentially I personally base it on the likelihood of a return visit and I try to be stingy with 5 star reviews since they should be “special” in my eyes. Price/Value also play a role obviously but there are $ and $$$$ littered across my grading scale. 5 stars – “I’ll go out of my way” (approx 6 % of my reviews) 4 stars- “If I was in the area I’d go here and would recommend”, (approx 38% of my reviews) 3 stars “Maybe if was nearby”, (approx 37% of my reviews) 2 stars -“Would likely not return, Only if you want to go”, (approx 16% of my reviews) 1 star -“No thanks, even if I was hungry”, (approx. 3 % of my reviews)

Aria Meat Market – Menu with Prices – 228 N Glenoaks Blvd, Burbank

Aria makes the best kebabs I have ever had! The spicy chicken kebabs are the best! More please!! Yum Yum!!! I’ve had these at parties, picnics, or just hanging out. One day I finally asked who made it and where they got the chicken kebabs from because the flavor was excellent and the level of spicy was undeniable. When I got the name, I immediately bookmarked it and couldn’t wait for a chance to visit Aria in Burbank. Upon my visit, I had ordered quite a few pounds of the spicy chicken kebabs. The gentleman that served me was very polite and he basically “took care of me” and my order while I was there. Very professional and polite staff. I would go back there anytime I’m in Burbank. I could have these everyday for the rest of my life and I’d be a happy man. I appreciate the recipe and the business decision to have their kebabs for sale. This is a must visit. Hats off to Aria Meat & BBQ!

Juicy Seafood – Menu with Prices – 2616 Gallatin Pike, Nashville

I almost did 3+ star, but really it felt like 2.5 to me. I came here with higher expectations than what I experienced, but then again I did come early in their opening. Having a functional bar/drink experience might have swayed my review but the food itself simply did not do it. I will give them another shot and hopefully I can revise my review, but I will give them a few months to get situated. Having a place like this nearby would certainly be nice if I could wholeheartedly recommend it to people. I appreciate small business, and I expect that I will be more impressed when I return. The decor and aesthetic are spot on, and it really is alot nicer on the inside than the front suggests. Regardless of my review you need to go here and judge for yourself, in case I am being too harsh.

Rig City Roasting Company Menu with Prices 1820 G St, Bakersfield

Finally! A true 3rd wave coffee standard in Bakersfield! Located in the downtown area, this small cafe front packs a great punch of various types of coffee beans from around the world. Stepping into the cafe, is an intimate place with some chairs and tables plus 2 places where a smaller group of 4 can sit in a living room type atmosphere with arm chairs, love seat and coffee table. It’s clean, modern, and speaks of Bakersfield’s culture. with After years of drinking second wave coffee (ie. Starbucks, etc.), there have been a couple of 3rd wave coffee roasters and cafe that have come to the scene, which I am excited about. While I travel the world, I intentionally go out of my way to hit the best coffee spots in different cities, including the most awarded coffee roaster in the US. I chemex with my own scale, burr grinder, and pour with my bona vita kettle set at 205 degrees. With saying that, Rig City does not disappoint. In fact, in my opinion, they are hands down the best roasters and serve the best coffee in town. (Please do not destroy your coffee with cream and sugar) I am totally impressed with the staff. All very friendly, and they know what they are doing. They know how to set the right ground levels along with the pull the coffee with their light, medium roast coffees. I recommend their Ethiopian or their Honduran Chichen. Here are my recommendations for the pour over that I really enjoy: – Ethiopian: grind level 12, pull at 4.5 – Honduran: grind level 12, pull at 4 (They will also grind the coffee and pull of you have your own preference) Other drinks that I have tried: – Cold Brew – excellent – Pineapple Matcha – good – Latte – excellent – Espresso – amazing They have various hot and cold teas also. I have not tried their pastries but they have a nice assortment and they always look fresh. This is my new go to spot for coffee and meetings. Here is my overall scorecard for this place: Atmosphere: 4.5 stars Service: 5 stars Coffee: 4.5 stars Overall: I give this a solid 4.5 but I will proudly score it a 5! The only suggestion I would have for this place is futile but I’ll post it anyways: 1. The place smells more like food than a coffee roaster due to the door to the business next door being opened. Again, this is just something I noticed. 2. They use the v-60… I personally wish they used a chemex, which I feel pulls better, but, again most people probably don’t even know the difference. Thanks Rig City!!!! You all rock!!!!

La Sandwicherie Miami Beach – Menu with Prices – 229 14th St, Miami Beach

I returned here again about 8 1/2 years after posting my original review. Just as I did back then, I still give La Sandwicherie a solid 3 stars for “A-OK”, and I still don’t get the hype and the amount of 5 star reviews which, per Yelp’s rating scale, should indicate a place is “as good as it gets” and has no room for improvement. We came here at around 11:30 on a Saturday night; We were just starting our evening and wanted to get some food on our stomachs. After looking at the menu, we stood at the “Order Here” window at the far end of this eatery for several minutes, before giving up after being ignored and walked around to the other order window along the counter that’s located in the alley. After a while standing there, one of the employees finally asked if we “needed anything”, and we explained we’d been waiting to order food and beverages (for some reason I’d have thought that’d be self-explanatory since we were standing at the window marked “Order Here”?). I had the Italian, which contained ham, salami, prosciutto and provolone cheese, and when asked, I requested everything on it. I also had a Vitamin Water. All together, my sandwich and drink came to $14 before gratuity. The sandwiches here are good, but to be frank, I’ve had better Italian sandwiches with more flavor at other sandwich/sub places (including at least 1 national chain) for less $$. Also, at $10.90 for the sandwich alone, this place is definitely priced a few dollars higher than it should be. When we were here there was no more open stool seating available at the counter, but they do have flat tops covering the planters so if need be, one can have a seat there while eating.

Julian’s BBQ – Menu with Prices – 1818 Baldwin Blvd, Corpus Christi

Writing this review with 2 Stars … As a Texan, and a self proclaimed professional bbq judge, I know my bbq, so let’s see how Julian’s stands up against Mr. Texas’ Food Judging Scale … Came here with a coworker who said they had good bbq, well it’s more like fair bbq. They do have reasonable prices, but I was shocked to see they charge .60¢ for a jalapeño !!! This my friend is an “Unforgivable Texas Sin” !!! Jalapeños should be FREE !!! So minus 1 Star for charging for jalapeños. I ordered the brisket plate which came with two sides. I got green beans and potato salad, both were good. The brisket is fair, meaning it needs some help or some sauce, it’s not a stand alone eat by itself brisket, so it’s a 2 Star brisket. Folks, their brisket is nothing to get excited about, or brag about, or even rate an OMG comment. What about their bbq sauce ??? Their bbq sauce downright sucks, so it can’t help the brisket, so minus 1 Star for horrible sauce. Just a word of caution, the sauce bottles are open containers and flies can crawl into these openings, so be aware. More on flies ??? Yes … I know this is Texas, and I’m a Native Texan, bred, born, and raised, but the flies were hungry too !!! We spent more time swishing away flies between bites so we couldn’t even enjoy our meal. The dining area was about half full, and when I looked around, we were all doing the same synchronized dance, Shoo Fly Shoo !!! So minus 1 Star for the infestation of flies in the dining area. If I did my math correctly, yep I did, it’s a 2 Star review, and the 2 Stars are for serving fair brisket. If you want great Texas BBQ, this ain’t the place to get it, but if you want fair Texas BBQ while fightin’ off flies, then this is the place for you !!! That’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Main Street Mediterranean Cafe in Duluth – Menu with Prices – 3107 Main St Ste C, Duluth

Located right off Main Street, across from Pure. You enter through the side street or back of the building. We dropped by here looking for desserts, after eating dinner nearby. It’s a little shop with one room inside and a couple tables. You’re better off sitting out on the back patio if you do decide to drop by here. Thankfully, there was something everyone wanted in our group. I ordered a vanilla latte, along with the chocolate ganache cheesecake. I was so excited to dig into the cheesecake but it was not creamy like I had expected. In fact, it wasn’t even that great. Same can be said for my vanilla latte, which took them a fairly long time to make. Both very much underwhelming for a dessert. I think that was the consensus from the whole group on their drinks and dessert. In all fairness, it might be better to come back and rate them off their specialty cuisine. However, this won’t be my stop for dessert when I’m here in the future. Hate giving two star or one star reviews, so will update this review if I’m back to try an entree.

Sofra Kebab House – Menu with Prices – 910 W Parker Rd, Plano

The food…oh the FOOD! Absolutely incredible food!! We stopped in on Thursday evening, having changed our plans of going to the State Fair due to the president being in town and traffic predicted to be a mess, so we decided to stay close to home and try somewhere new. Enter Sofra. The reviews were so high and it was not 10mins from us, so why not? We love Mediterranean food, anyway! The place was empty (uh oh?), the news on, and the air smelled incredible. The reviews and the smells were enough to tempt us, even if there was no one there. We were greeted very warmly by the owner, Ray, as if we were old friends come back again, and asked our kebab preference (one beef, one chicken please), and told it would be about 10mins. The foods in the buffet were explained (hummus, baba ganoush, chickpea salad, a kidney bean dish [I don’t know the name], couscous, rice with orzo, lamb stew, chicken stew, wings, spiced potatoes, kofta, steamed veggies, lentil soup, and spicy chicken soup, plus chocolate pudding and an almond cake. My husband and I took a little of everything except dessert, and warm pita bread was dropped off. We were told it would be a few more minutes for our kebabs but we told him we were in no rush and set to enjoy our plates. Oh…oh so delicious. I scooped up my hummus and baba ganoush with the spiced potatoes as I can’t do bread (pity, the pita bread smelled so good and it was warm) but trust me, I was not upset with my scooping vessel. The spice on the potatoes complimented the dips nicely. The chickpea salad and kidney bean dish were very good, flavourful but not overbearing. The kofta were good, fresh and not rubbery like some I’ve had. The wings were actually juicy (I’ve had some dry ass buffet wings before) and seasoned well, but not spicy. The chicken stew was absolutely wonderful too, just the right amount of heat and flavour combined. About this time, our kebabs came out and we we’re checked on (trust me, sir, we are so good), and he turned off the news in favour of traditional sounding music. I’m all for music, but they were discussing the Democratic Debate, so we told Ray that, since we were alone (a travesty), if he’d rather watch the news, we were on board. We all agreed that the news was pretty interesting so it was put back on. It made for some great conversation between me and the hubs. The kebabs were so tender I could cut them with my fork, and they were absolutely outstanding. About this time, though, after the kebabs and another plate of this and that, we had to call it a night. Hubs had the almond cake and said it was just the right amount of sweet to round out a meal. We didn’t get coffee this time, but it’s in the plans for next time. We boxed up the remaining kebabs, paid for the two buffets, and were well pleased with everything: price, food, and experience. We shook hands again with our new friend and rolled out to the car, unbuttoning pants, groaning, and maybe limping a little the whole way. We try to be mindful of what we eat and I would venture a guess that everything (aside from the cake) was on the healthier side of the scale. If you’re watching what you eat for your health, Sofra seems to give you plenty to choose from. I try to stay lower carb, but the potatoes and dips got me. I’m not mad, though. ***The standout dish was the lamb stew.*** The lamb stew MUST be had. In a bowl, too, not on the plate, mixed with other foods. Give it its proper due. I will be ordering that from Grubhub, for sure. It has all the makings of a hangover’s bestie. Please do your taste buds and your stomach a favour and go to Sofra. You will NOT regret it. 15/10.

Plaza On Oak Lawn – Menu with Prices – 4208 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas

Carbone’s is an Italian Restaurant located on the corner of Oak Lawn and Wycliff Ave. Atmosphere: Located in a corner shop of a strip mall area, Carbone’s is elegant but not pretentious. We noted people dressed in nice suits to a few in casual jeans and crew neck sweat shirts. It has a small indoor cafe vibe, but with white table cloths and wine glasses. Very cleanly. A bit loud, but that never bothers me. 1 Star Service: The hostess was a tad standoffish but sat us quickly. Our waiter, on the other hand was, very personable even though he appeared a bit overstretched. However, he was prompt to take our orders and give refills. No complaints. 1.5 Stars Food: It is decent Italian food. Not by any means the best Italian I have had though. I felt it was just all around a bit bland. There wasn’t anything that just stood out, except for possibly the cannoli. None of the food was bad, and some people may like a more muted flavor profile, but for me I tend to like an Italian food with bold tomato, spice, pepper, or even cream based flavors. Bolognese is typically more robust than your usual meat sauce and even that was mild at best. The cannoli was the highlight of the meal. Beautiful presentation with a perfectly golden crisp pastry filled with a delectable cream stuffing. It was VERY good. I would come back solely for this. 1 Star Overall Impression: Busy place with decent service and okay food. Nothing spectacular. I would probably opt for another place if I was craving Italian fare. Only reason for me to go back would be to have the cannoli. 3.5 Stars ———————— My Rating System: Things have changed. I felt it was too easy to get 4-5 Stars so I will be giving out many more 1/2 Stars and basing my reviews on a 10 point system rather than 5. 1 Star-Wouldn’t let my dog eat here 2 Star-Below average-usually something really struck me as being bad and I doubt I would ever return. 3 Star-Average-Might come back. Might not if there are better options. 4 Star-Above average-will definitely come back and try something new. 5 Star-Phenomenal-Will definitely return for such an amazing experience.

Broadway Mart & Deli – Menu with Prices – 508 W Broadway, Glendale

Great location with enough variety of items. Very Convenient store, and has good parking space. Hours are great too. The owners are wonderful and friendly. Always have a smile on their face and every time great clients with Hello how are you? Last night I was there approx. 7-730pm picking up a few items & groceries. I bumped into an old friend right as I was leaving and exiting the store. I stopped chatted with my old friend with my hands full of grocery bags… Later than night I went to Walgreens to do my final weekend shopping when I came to pull out my ATM debit card I always use and I didn’t have it in my little ATM wallet purse. After going crazy pulling out my whole hand bag and going back to all locations looking through the parking lot and the front door to the stores, I decided to call Broadway Mart & Deli to check with them if I had left it there on the counter or dropped it in the store or outside… As soon as I said good morning it’s Anita from last night she said ‘you know what a customer found your ATM card outside our store and I remember I asked your name is Anita when I looked at your ATM card and I remembered it was yours’…. I was so thankful for her honesty and also to the customer who found it. Thank you so much. I’m not just giving 5 star review for last nights incident but in general this store is great and I totally recommend it to all people.

Walmart Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2151 Frankston Hwy, Tyler

Great location for a small-scale Walmart! Has full grocery and a small-scale pharmacy, the staff are friendly & helpful, & easier to find than in the super centers. These are a lot more friendly & personal. Restrooms also have 3 stalls, & are well-maintained, even having a disability-access stall & a changing table/station available. The parking lot is also nice & easy to access. I would come back here again!

Butters AM Eatery Ft. Collins – Menu with Prices – 1103 W Elizabeth St, Fort Collins

O star review- THIS PLACE HAD HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! We waited for over an hour with only 6 tables waiting. Others were being served before us but they came after us! Camilla was our waitress and she should be fired. She was very rude and provided subpar service. When I explained this to the â?? mangerâ? she said I donâ??t know what subpar means. We were visiting our daughter who attends college near by and we will NEVER EVER go to this SUBPAR restaurant again. My suggestion to anyone who is thinking of eating here to not bother. I was told that Lucia Morales is the manager. She should conduct training for her waitress about the importance of customer service.

TIGER SUGAR – Menu with Prices – 40-10 #A, Main St, Flushing

My coworkers are raving about this boba joint and the long lines to order these beverages are ridiculously long. I’ve ordered from Tiger Sugar recently from the Manhattan Chinatown location. At that location, I waited approx 10mins to order and another 15mins to pick up. It’s not bad of a wait for a Sunday around 1pm, especially considering my coworkers waited upwards of 45mins. I honestly didn’t find much pro about their drinks. Very average. However, drinks are more enjoyable than the powered tea bobas from other establishments. The wait time to order on a Thursday around 11am is approx 4 mins and approx 3mins to pick up. Packaging/ graphics on the drink containers are very appealing and the plastic bag they give you is definitely included in the $5.50 drink ($5.99 after taxes.) VERY expensive in my opinion for a drink with almost 1/2 a container full of ice. They ran out of the pearl toppings (mini bobas) so I had to order with tapiocas (large bobas). Again, I didn’t find anything special for me to write home to mom about. I gave these drinks two tries and I don’t feel a need to return anytime soon. I highly recommend the lava bobas beverage from CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice. Similar but tastes BETTER!
