This is quite the place! They run tours all day Saturday but they also have their “Ready Room” available on Friday evenings. I wish they were open other days (the bartender explained that it is difficult for their operation to be open on Sundays but they have looked into it). The inside is industrial-chic. Like many swanky businesses in Baltimore, it makes use of an old factory but they’ve somehow made it warm and inviting. Seriously, where did they find those super comfy couches?! Drinks – Old Line specializes in two spirits: rum and whiskey. Don’t be fooled; they have varieties of those two options in terms of aging and blending process for a grand total of five products. When I went, $15 got us a flight of every spirit they produce – and they don’t skimp! I thought it would be a little 1/2 oz tasting, but this was just shy of a full shot each, so I ended up sharing with my companions. Speaking of flights, they also offer flights by style. For example, if you are more of a rum person, they have a flight of their rums as well as some from other local distilleries. Ditto for the whiskeys. A nice touch promoting competitors in the spirit of… well, spirits! The cocktails were great. I got a daiquiri – a proper daiquiri with lime and rum. Not to hate on a spiked strawberry smoothie, but this is the OG daiquiri (and the better one, IMHO). I also split the Liberty Risk, made with their Navy Strength cask rum, with my companions. They limit you to one because it is STRONG. Suffice it to say I ended up staying a little longer than originally planned. Overall, they have six regular cocktails and one or two specials. They also offer a couple of local beers on tap, but we came for the spirits. They sell all of their spirits on site as well as some bar tool knick knacks; I walked out with a bottle of their Single Malt whiskey. The prices aren’t too bad for what it is and service is fast and friendly. I look forward to coming back!

The Ready Room Cocktail Bar Menu with Prices 200 S Janney St, Baltimore

This is quite the place! The Ready Room is located inside of Old Line Distillery and as of this writing, open Fridays and Saturdays. Whether sitting at the bar or at their super comfy couches, it’s very inviting to stay awhile. Drinks – Old Line specializes in two spirits: rum and whiskey. Don’t be fooled; they have varieties of those two options in terms of aging and blending process for a grand total of five products. When I went, $15 got us a flight of every spirit they produce – and they don’t skimp! The prices aren’t too bad for what it is and service is fast and friendly. I look forward to coming back!

Cork & Cask – Menu with Prices – 60 E Moreno Ave, Colorado Springs

Holy options, omg! We went here for some whiskey, of course, and to be honest it was a little overwhelming! Good thing we live close and can come back to try more! First of all – the decor! It’s reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland, with gorgeous chandeliers and high ceilings. There are fun chairs with high backs that make you look and feel like royalty (seriously, see pictures for proof). Our waitress was timely, though someone who appeared to be a manager had checked in on us right after we got seated. Since there are so many options, it was super helpful that our server gave us a few recommendations, and I appreciated that one was a local Colorado rec! I ended up going with that one, and I was not disappointed. Boyfriend had one from Kentucky that was also really good. One word of caution – if you like your whiskey or Scotch with a little bit of ice, I’d ask for it in a separate glass. One of the drinks was served with ice and it was lot, more than just enough to open up the flavor profile a little bit. It ended up watering down the whiskey too much unless he would have chugged it, which of course is not what you want to do with a nice whiskey. I’m excited to go back to try some of their cocktails in the future!

Odd Society Spirits – Menu with Prices – 1725 Powell St, Vancouver

I’ll admit I’m typically more of a beer guy and lesser into the gins and vodkas, but luckily I’m open minded with my intoxicants so we stopped in during an afternoon of various local brewery tap room visits. I personally had The Carnivore ($11), which is a cocktail made with pork fat washed mongrel, vermouth, amaretto, and some kind of tea infused mongrel. I admit I ordered it based on my love for all things pork related, not even knowing what mongrel is. Turns out mongrel is basically somewhere between moonshine and what whisky would be without barrel aging. This drink was not the smoothest or tastiest cocktail I’ve ever had, but it did pack a nice punch. My tasting companions tried the liquor flights (literally 3 glasses of straight booze) and a couple of other cocktails. Everyone was pretty satisfied with them and I’ll give this place the 4 stars simply based on being a unique destination making their name off of locally made spirits. Plus you can stare at the various liquor stills in the back while look a lot more oldschool and refined than a bunch of beer conicals, so cool points for that.

Sabbatical Spirits – Menu with Prices – 606 Rayford Rd Suite 642, Spring

What a fantastic little whiskey “speakeasy”-esque find! This place is connected to Hop Scholar (just follow the signs) and it a literal whiskey/whisky mecca! They have an entire apothecarian wall (complete w/ladder) to satisfy any whiskey novice to enthusiast! Their selection is just epic and borders on biblical…I discovered so many new and delightful bourbons alone! They offer half and full pours and their pricing is very competitive, especially compared to other whiskey bars I’ve frequented around the state and country. The staff here is beyond excellent! Knowledgeable, engaging, and can chat about everything and anything whiskey. They are thoroughly versed in all of their offerings and can make excellent selections based on tastes and interests. They not only do neat pours (they also have droppers to cut your pours accordingly, as any whiskey bar worth their ware should), but make an excellent assortment of cocktails. I was so impressed and instantly in love with this place! I cannot wait to come back next time I am in town!

Missouri Spirits – Menu with Prices – 507 W Walnut St, Springfield

What a major find. Our party had two MSU students who knew nothing about this place. They’ve been to Springfield Brewery around the corner dozens of times, but they never paid attention to the nondescript gray box up the street. Wow, what a mistake. Missouri Spirits is incredible.First and foremost, this is a distillery and not a restaurant or bar. They make their own bourbon, corn whiskey, and vodka. Like a craft brewery, they have added a drinking room where they serve their products. An extensive drink menu has been assembled, and it’s awesome. While they have the three base spirits listed above, they have created several infused versions that have set for weeks and some cases months. The straight spirits and infused spirits are used to create a cornucopia of mixed drinks. What I loved the most about our visit was Ashley & Carl. They worked the bar. They knew their spirits inside and out. Sitting at the bar talking with them about each drink and infusion was wonderful. They often gave little tastes to support their claim. We tried several mixed drinks and straight samples over the course of the night. I really loved everything about it.The interior look of this place is great. The wide open room has gray walls, rough board tables, whiskey barrels, and a brick bar. Lights are strung here and there to give it character. You’ll love the look of this place. They do offer a bit of food. The handmade guacamole and chips were perfect for us. I think they have a sandwich offering, but I might be wrong.Carl and Ashely told us this place is very popular for events. Sometimes they have live music. When that happens it packs the place. This is a place to visit to learn and enjoy spirits. The employees are excited to share their knowledge. Ask lots of questions and they get more and more engaged as you explore their offerings. This place rocks!

Loaded Cannon Distillery – Menu with Prices – 3115 Lakewood Ranch Blvd Suite 110, Bradenton

WOW!!! What a great find. My wife took me here as the beginning of my birthday celebration and I’m so glad she did! We started out with a tour of the distillery by its founder & owner Steve. It was a very interesting tour full of great information about not only liquor in general but specifically everything about his concept. It was sooo great to know that ALL of the ingredients that he’s using are ALL sourced locally. After a very interesting tour by an incredibly interesting and proud master distiller we went back to the ‘Bar’ area and had a flight of all their distilled spirits. In my entire life, there are VERY few liquors I don’t drink, and that is due primarily to my ‘Over Indulging’ on them at one point in my life (college). The one spirit I have never developed a taste for is Gin. Then adding the nasty taste of Tonic to it, made it a ‘no can do’ for me. Well, after tasting THEIR Gin, I have completely changed my mind. Such a great ‘floral’ taste without that HEAVY Juniper Berry taste. I drank it straight with NO awkward face manipulations and then our ‘Tour Guide’ added their homemade ‘Shrubs’ to my gin and took it to another delicious level. I am now a Gin fan but ONLY for their “Margoza” Gin. I am not a loyal vodka drinker but if I do have a vodka, I enjoy Tito’s. Tito’s claim to fame is the fact that they are filtered six times and to my surprise at this distillery, they normally filter 7 times AND have the capability of doing it 17 times!!! As with the gin I tasted, their vodka was extremely delicious and is now my favorite vodka. We also sampled the dark rum which was good and then the spiced rum and toasted coconut rum. In my opinion the spiced rum and toasted coconut rum were amazingly awesome and I enjoyed them more than the dark rum. This distillery has only been open for eight weeks so they are still on some of their first batch spirits. Being an amazing entrepreneur, they take feedback from all of their guests and change the ingredients based on what is being more expected. After everyone in our party enjoyed our flight of spirits, we began purchasing various bottles for our own home enjoyment! They also sell an amazing (which we tasted) pre-made Bloody Mary Mix In 3 spicy levels. I then spoke to Michelle, who handles just about every additional aspect outside of Steve’s responsibilities of creating amazingly delicious spirits about bringing in a group of friends to take advantage of their “Pyrate Hour” which is PERFECT for small groups! Not only is it a good thing to support A local business, but a local business that produces such a high quality product is an easy decision to make. I can’t recommend enough to anyone reading this review that you should make a point of going there and trying out their different spirits and buy as much as you possibly can. They have an enormous amount of events that they are participating in as well as events that will be at their location. I strongly suggest everyone check out their website and be part of their growth. And YES, I bought a t-shirt!!!!

Blackland Distillery – Menu with Prices – 2616 Weisenberger St, Fort Worth

BLINK and you’ll MISS it, but trust me you don’t want to. Look for patio string lights, grey & oak wood decor on the covered patio in front of a garage style door and you’ve found Fort Worth’s newest & most stylish distillery. I don’t even want to review it, it’s such a fun find. All spirits are house made with local Texas grain and thoughtfully crafted. The drink menu boasts options for their signature {VODKA}, {GIN}, {BOURBON}, and {RYE}. While mixed drinks are all interestingly different, fresh and hand crafted with unique, unusual ingredients, I will say it wasn’t until I ordered the flight as a stand alone sipper that I had a taste for how unique the spirits themselves are. Be sure to chat up the bartenders for their mixology methods – ALL the ingredients aren’t listed. For instance the Old Fashioned also has orange and lemon peel garnish and the simple syrup has molasses! They won’t add a Luxardo Maraschino unless you ask – they believe the cherry influences the drink too much. Ambience is Restoration Hardware meets The Great Gatsby; chic but cozy decor, dim but ambient lighting, conversationally quiet but to the sounds of late 90s hip hop. Fort Worth finally got one right with this spot! Food menu is small but EXCELLENT from nearby Meyer & Sage – best boutique home delivery caterer in Fort Worth by a landslide. We shared a beautiful, hand crafted grazing board – a perfect enhancement to the whiskey flight. Kudos to Blackland staff for this partnership with their neighbor! http://meyerandsage.com/

The Toledo Spirits Company – Menu with Prices – 1301 N Summit St, Toledo

I first learned about Toledo Spirits when I received a bottle of Tango Foxtrot hop flavored whisky as a birthday present (It’s great turning 21, right?!?). I liked it, and, I was intrigued by it, but I wasn’t able to visit the distillery…until today. The location of Toledo Spirit’s distillery is convenient to downtown T-Town, and the parking is easy. Soooooo…I walk in and Rob Zombie’s “More Human than Human” is playing…excellent first sign. The tasting room was small and it was full of cute hipster chicks, and dorky hipster dudes. The owner and distiller were serving tasting flights of booze for 5 bucks (Catch a cool buzz for 5 bucks? You bet.) The products I tried were: Heart of Glass strawberry flavored vodka. Now, I’m not a huge fan of flavored vodkas, but my wife loves them, and this stuff is fantastic. It tastes like fresh Ohio strawberries (probably because it’s flavored with fresh Ohio strawberries), and it’s exceptionally smooth. I bought a bottle, and I know the Mrs will love it. Maumee Moonshine. Now THIS is MY cup of tea. So incredibly smooth and it’s 100 proof. It’s made with Ohio products, including apples from MacQueen’s orchard in Holland…the apple flavor actually comes though at the end. I bought a bottle. Orange Tiger is an orange flavored liqueur. This was the biggest surprise…I didn’t think I’d like it, because other than ouzo, I don’t really like liqueurs. Unexpectedly, I loved it! I bought a bottle. I’d use it in a margarita recipe, instead of Cointreau, because unlike Cointreau, Orange Tiger actually has a little kick. This stuff would be great with a cigar…that’s what I told myself as I sampled it. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot hop flavored whisky. I tried 4 different batches of WTF whisky, but I didn’t buy any, because I still have some at home. This stuff is fascinating; each batch tastes distinctly differently from the others, because each batch is made by distilling a different local beer!! I still have some original batch 6 at home, but I’ll be back next Saturday to pick up some batch 10, or maybe some batch 14. WTF is good, good stuff. WTF has a kick…each batch is about 100 proof. In the near future, Toledo Spirits will introduce an American single malt “Scotch,” called Vistula. (It’s named for the historic Toledo neighborhood in which the distillery is located). The distiller said it will be smoky. If so, and if it’s as good as Toledo Spirits’ other products, they can go ahead and sign me up for a case. They also have a gin, and a rum in the earliest stages of development. Can’t wait! If you don’t know about this place, you owe it to yourself to learn about it. If you haven’t been to the distillery on Summit street, you need to get there…in fact, you need to quit reading this review RIGHT NOW, and get your ass down there, PRONTO!! Five stars for this incredible, local, product!

Daiquiri Place – Menu with Prices – 3707 General De Gaulle Dr, New Orleans

The Tulane & Broad daiquiri is lethal! That drink is truly for the very responsible. This place can mix the best daiquiris to “get ya mind right”. You can locate this place right behind the Chuckie Cheese on General DeGaulle. I really like to check out smaller, independent daiquiri shops. This location is cash only and its is located in a divey strip mall but I’ve always received great customer service and the mixed daiquiri concoctions are miracle workers on your current disposition. The inside is run down but it is clean and it has TVs on the wall. This seems to be a gathering spot for people to play pool and have just have a drink after a long day. Ample parking is available.

Thistle Finch Distillery – Menu with Prices – 417 W Grant St, Lancaster

This charming place serves some of the most unique cocktails made with hard to find rye based whiskey (made on-site). Furthermore the gin is also unique in the fact it is made in the “New American Style”. Also hard to find. This is a delightful deviation from traditional gin; which is just vodka and juniper berries. Their gin is made (on-site) with the lowest amount of juniper berries to qualify it as “gin” but with citrus and a slight mint on the pallet. Its quite refreshing. If your not a gin fan try this, it just might change your mind. The “Barrel Rested” gin, is their gin “rested” in used oak barrels that were used to age whisky so it adds vanilla, oak and slight charred flavor to it. This stuff is flat out excellent. There is nothing like it on the market. I highly recommend this place and their spirits. Finally, they share bar space with a craft brewery so if cocktails are not your thing no worries they have the best of both worlds.

The Cabinet – Menu with Prices – 649 E 9th St, New York

Visited The Cabinet after hearing that it was curated by the same people as Mace — was very impressed with the cocktails. This bar focuses on tastes of Rye, Mezcal, and Tequila, which you can sample in tastings, flights, and cocktails. The cocktail list is short and sweet, but as someone who is not a huge fan of Mezcal or Tequila, I was still able to find something tasty — The Forty Niner was a rye-based drink with hints of peanut and raspberry. It was like a mature, adult peanut butter and jelly sandwich in drink form, and it was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the Primero Beso, which was mezcal-forward but perfectly sweet with a touch of watermelon. The service was great, and the bartender, upon hearing that my favorite spirits (gin and vodka) were… entirely absent from their menu, offered to make me something else if The Forty Niner didn’t suit me. I look forward to visiting The Cabinet again when I find myself with a mezcal/tequila loving crowd.

Vapor Distillery – Menu with Prices – 5311 Western Ave #180, Boulder

TBH the first couple of times I went here (I work nearby) I wasn’t impressed. Their vodka is fine, their gin is decent, and their bourbon was ok if not overly sweet. However I was talking to a bartender about this and he’s like duh we specialize in American single malt whiskey, which is essentially the formula for scotch (except virgin oak barrels) but can’t be called scotch since it’s made in America. Their ASM whiskey is *excellent*. I have a special release bottle that was $25 with a tour that I can’t tell the difference between that and this $120 bottle of Oban 18, hey call me a plebe. They also have a peated ASM whiskey that is pretty great too. They have a sherry cask release coming soon that I can’t wait to get my hands on. 10/10 on the ASM whiskey. One other thing– great tap room. Their cocktails are tasty, prices are reasonable, it’s rarely crowded, and they have board games. I feel like they are well established and I hope that they continue to grow as a business and continue to impress.
