Easy Eight’s – Menu with Prices – 4901 W Expy 83 #150, McAllen

First of all, this place is by The Egg & I and Aqua Tots in a plaza off Exp 83. My lovely phone navigation tried to have us do u-turns on Taylor Rd for some reason… It was pretty nice. Basically it’s lots of pool tables, a few dart boards, and lots of huge tvs on the walls showing guy sports stuff, beer, oh, and waitresses dressed in short-shorts. Not busy or intimidating at all for two people who suck at pool and don’t know what they’re doing. Would have loved if one of the screens showed the videos to the music playing. But it’s a sports bar, so I was not expecting that, it just would have been cool to see GnR on one of the screens and some other oldies that were playing. Minus one star for giving my hubby a plastic cup for his beer with a hole in the bottom of it, it was leaking out. We didn’t complain but it was not cool. Quite empty for a Friday night, hope this place is able to stay in business.

Downtown Sporting Club – Menu with Prices – 411 Broadway, Nashville

Most of the bars on Broadway have live music, open space, and a rooftop bar. Not to say that those bars aren’t awesome, but if you’re looking to play some games while having a drink, this might be a nice change of pace. After exploring some of the bars the city has to offer, we decided to check this place out. The Downtown Sporting Club is composed of four floors: First floor – In addition to a restaurant & bar, this floor offers ping pong and corn hole. They also have a picture worthy “Nashville looks good on you” wall pictured in my review. Second floor – In addition to a bar offering alcoholic slushees, this floor includes a variety of activities to choose from. They have axe throwing, which I recommend making a reservation for, arcade games, foosball, and a “lawn” area to watch several sports games simultaneously. Third floor – This floor is for “hotel” guests so we were unable to go to this floor. Pretty cool concept nonetheless. Fourth floor – More games, but outdoors on their rooftop. The rooftop offers a view of Broadway. They also have a dance floor and photo booth inside. If you’re looking for a place to chill, I recommend this fun spot!

Oddfellows Liquor Bar – Menu with Prices – 2014 Elm St, Cincinnati

The decor and layout deserves 5 stars but we didn’t make it long enough to enjoy it. 3 of us walked in for the first time to have some food, drinks and watch the NCAA National Championship game. There were 4 people total in the bar area…2 of them just eating pizza off to the corner. 2 TVs. One was playing the game but we asked if the other tv could also be changed so we could sit where we wanted and watch. The bartender responded…”Well I don’t really play sports and don’t like them so…”. Mind you…there were music videos playing on the other TV. P.M. Dawn to be exact. Was really looking forward to hanging out, watching the game…and ummm…spending $. I’ve worked in customer service and sales almost my entire career. Unfortunately the attitude of the bartender put a bad taste in our mouths and we found another spot for the night.

Thunderbird Club – Menu with Prices – 5124 Hildebrand Rd NW, Roanoke

Cliquey little place for fun, middle aged golfers and friends – TVs always on to sports events. No live music … more like a neighborhood bar. Good bottled beer and decent grill food. Hours seem to be at the owner’s whim…

Bistro Nomad – Menu with Prices – 1430 Locust St, Des Moines

This place has a perfect spot with a perfect view of the Sculpture Park and with it’s huge windows, it’s perfect to do a little people watching safe inside the restaurant. They have the perfect decor and live music playing so that definitely zhoosh it up a little. The drinks we ordered came out just perfect and not greedy with the alcohol and our waitress greeted right as we sat down. We ordered a few appetizers, Fries with Aioli sauce and some Hummus. I’ll say this… the fries were on the “To Share” section of the menu and let’s be real they definitely weren’t. I could probably get 2 orders and still wouldn’t be enough for me. I won’t knock off any points as I think the aioli was great but come on… a little more on the plate would be nice too. If you love mediterranean you’ll love this place. I got the Tomato Roasted Cod and it was perfectly tomato-y. Of course I’m that guy at our table who has to taste all my friends’ food so going around I think the Salmon is where it’s at. It was cooked perfectly with tons of flavor. Also the marinated leg of lamb was something I really enjoyed and almost had food envy, not that my food was not great but that lamb was juicy. Next time I come back, I really want to try to the octopus. Don’t mean to brag but I’ve been to Greece and that’s pretty much all I ate when I was there so I have pretty high standards for it. I say this place is nice to even just go for drinks and live music. I don’t know if they actually have a live band every night but I’ve been there twice and they did those two nights.

Commonwealth Brewing – Menu with Prices – 2444 Pleasure House Rd, Virginia Beach

This place is pretty awesome! We came on a holiday afternoon and they were pretty packed. It was hard to find a parking lot but after waiting a bit we were able to find one in the back. They had live music playing that entertained the crowd. They also had a couple pop up companies present: The Coop food truck, which I didn’t get a chance to try but am now dying to. (I looked at the menu on the way out.). Smores Amore was also there with their PistachiOMG is a signature blend chocolate brownie leaded with pistachios and covered in chocolate ganache…topped with pistachiosso beer marshmallow. We of course indulged on all 3 they had available today. We went in to check out the scene and it was just “fun!” Live music and plenty of seating makes for a great day! They had a good assortment of house made beers all infused with everything from sea salt, pistachios, cacao, fruits of all kind including kumquats and calamansi. I am not a beer expert by any means, but I will say their Marmalade was delicious (& stout). For those also not much into beer, they do have non alcoholic drinks available such as Kombucha, la Croix, root beer, and sodas. So awesome they allow dogs inside. The inside was a bit loud with the music playing. I like music like the next person, but it was too loud for my little one, my husband had to take him for a walk. I’d definitely come back sometime, without my little one, and try another drink. I’d also be looking for who else they have as a pop up!

Savage Tavern – Menu with Prices – 1625 University Ave, Lubbock

My family and I have been here a few times. We ate Sunday brunch here and it was wonderful. We met one of the owners who made the rounds and checked on the customers. There was retro music videos playing on the televisions and sound system. This made the ambiance something unique along with the great service. However, we tried to eat dinner on Saturday night. It wasnâ??t very crowded and we found a seat. The retro music videos were gone and it was hard gangster rap music. This may have explained the lack of customers. We ordered an appetizer of homemade egg rolls. They were very greasy. We ordered fish and chips and these too were very greasy and not flavorful. The staff came to our table twice once to take our order and once to bring our food. We asked for silverware and they brought one set. We waited to get our check and when the waitress didnâ??t return, we paid at the bar and then left. I will say the their ice tea was good. But I doubt we will be back.

Wynwood Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 565 NW 24th St, Miami

New favorite spot! Beer here is SO good OMG, where has this place been all my life?! And what’s crazy is I’ve passed bY it before but it wasn’t until a friend invited me to hear him DJ that I actually went in and stayed for a minute playing their games, listening to the music, enjoying their amazing beer and just catching a vibe. People def should come here, it’s in wynwood close to everything, it’s a clean spacious place with their brewery behind their bar, lots of seating available and an outside area with food trucks. I love how they have live music and provide a bunch of board games. It was so much fun to just hang out with friends, catch up over an incredibly delicious beer and get a bit competitive over a good game of “sorry” or Uno. So, other than the great location and space, other than the music and games that help create such a fun & chill environment, the beer is número uno in Miami. They have your typical beers, your local miami beers (la rubia etc), and THEIR amazing beers! My fav was father Francisco, Love their menu how they give you a description of the beer & alcohol content, and appreciated the employees talking to us about their menu and even letting us taste the beer before ordering it- that was super nice! Love love love this place, can’t wait to go back!

Flying Pig Irish Pub – Menu with Prices – 3265 Brotherton Rd, Cincinnati

Great local place with friendly bartenders. They just got new owners and renovated the place and it’s an incredible upgrade. Remodeled interior and added nice windows. I think they are working on a patio which will be awesome. Great for all sports and usually run deals of some sort. Always deals for FC Cincinnati games. The owner really knows soccer so he’s great to talk to. He’s is open to ideas so anything people want, you should suggest. They have chips, pretzels and snacks, but you can bring in food to eat while you’re there. They also sometimes grill complementary hot dogs on weekends or for games. They have had a guy come BBQ great ribs too for cheap! Pretty large selection of craft beer and many on tap. Overall pretty awesome place to hang out and might be my new favorite local place. Nice to not have to pay $5+ for a beer…I’m looking at you Mad Tree.
