Came here to hang out with a large group on a Saturday afternoon, they have a sizable space with plenty of tables, space to stand, and games to play while you’re there. There was a lively bunch of people throughout our time there, but it never got too crowded. Their beer selection was fairly limited, but it’s understandable given they’re quite new to the area. The bartender was super helpful and let my friend and I sample a few of them. Being indecisive I still chose to have a flight after. My personal favorite beer I tried was the dry hopped wheat, but the hazy IPA and the raspberry milkshake IPA also stood out! Their menu was quite IPA heavy, so hopefully they’ll continue to branch out, but it does look like they rotate their menu quite often. There’s also a fantastic Korean food truck out back that I highly recommend checking out while you’re here. Overall, I think the combination of good space to hang out, tasty beer, and delicious food is well worth checking out.

Populuxe Brewing – Menu with Prices – 826 NW 49th St, Seattle

This was probably my least favorite brewery that I went to in Seattle – which is clearly not to say that it was bad, mostly just it was the one with the least interesting range of beers (mostly pretty traditional, and I prefer the wackier stuff.) I had this one on my list mainly because there were a couple others nearby, and because I saw they had an arcade, which I figured would be fun during a day of brewery-hopping. It’s a pretty small arcade, just a few machines, and they’re regular price, but they are there, and are in good condition, so that is pretty neat. When I was there a couple months ago (though I’m sure it’s 100% different by now), they had about 10 beers available, of which only one sounded like my kind of beer, so I got a taster of that – a raspberry wheat ale. Funny enough, I ended up trying a second one, because they gave me the wrong taster the first time. I hate IPAs, and the IPA they gave me, “Fresh Hop: Citra”, was actually surprisingly enjoyable, as far as IPAs go (more fruity than bitter). It was clearly not a raspberry wheat ale, though, so I went back and told them, they fixed their mistake without complaint, gave me the correct taster, which was also pretty enjoyable. A little lighter than I prefer, but definitely full of raspberries (and tasted like actual raspberry, not “raspberry flavoring” like a lot of raspberry beers). If you like more traditional, less experimental beers, you will probably quite like it here. (Or if you’ve been out drinking beer all day, and want to stop for a bit and play a couple games of pinball.)

Indigo Reef Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 2079 Wambaw Creek Unit #1, Charleston

I usually stay away from opening week/weekend but I’m glad I got to check out Indigo Reef when they were fresh! We sat out on the patio since a friend and I had both brought our dogs, and the lovely woman inside (whose name I’ve forgotten) kept bringing us fresh bowls of water! I wish the gravel area was fully fenced in but it was so chill that it really didn’t matter. There were 4 dogs there at one point and I can’t really see it being calm with more than that since it’s a smallish space. The inside is fresh and light and larger than it appears at first glance. I think they had 9 beers on tap. I tried the stout – very good but not really refreshing on a 90 degree day, haha, and then switched to the raspberry wheat for the rest of my visit. Not only was it my favorite beer there but it’s up there on my list of Charleston beers. It was light and had a great flavor balance. I’m a bit worried about the parking situation if they’re holding events or something but I’m sure that will be worked out in time. Otherwise, this is a great spot and I highly recommend trekking out.

At Ease Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 1825 I St, Sacramento

“At Ease Brewing” Is A Fantastic Brewery In Midtown! SITREP Or as my colleague and fellow Yelper Tammy P. likes to say, “A Tease Brewing” (It’s all in how you space your letters *cough*) ? Talk about a total win for me: there’s a new brewery only two blocks away from my front door that just went *online* over the 2019 Memorial Day Weekend. THE SETUP “At Ease Brewing” brings a lot of refreshing taste variety to enjoy – from the current menu since Memorial Day: * Buck Sergeant Brown – a Brown Porter (6.1% ABV); https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=YFvzhYoKHN7scvPkn5NTpQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * Black Hawk – a Black Saison (6.8% ABV); * Top of the Line – a Lemon Coriander Wheat (6.1% ABV); * Full Battle Rattle – a Pale Ale (5.9% ABV) * Army Brat – a Brut IPA (7.5% ABV); * Fog of War – a Hazy IPA (6.4% ABV) Each is refershing in their own way, and I enjoyed a flight with all of them. But you really put your money where your mouth is when you decide which one you want to put in a growler. “At Ease” has a wonderful contemporary 32-ounce for $30 ($40 incluidng a fill up of your fave brew). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=Hoomes50SC7jsYAt9gn64g&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w But I was also able to recycle a couple other growlers I had sitting on top of the fridge which i used: = For a fill up of the Buck Sergeant ($10); and, https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=rnYl1AEQGFf4fnQSFOGURg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w = For a fill up of the Army Brat ($10). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=AFHGWYz6rKg8pgfQnuuqdg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w I’m set for some wonderful brew tasting the rest of the week now. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=F3aG0_DnsRqERktRPlsdQw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w COOLEST TAKEAWAY: Your growlers get their own dog tags. ? https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=AFHGWYz6rKg8pgfQnuuqdg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w And speaking of dogs, this brewery is pooch-friendly and has watering stations for them on the back patio. THE LOWDOWN A enjoyable and refreshing Midtown brewery you need to check out!

Le Sainte-Ã?lisabeth – Menu with Prices – 1412 Rue Sainte Élisabeth, Montréal

Great atmosphere, good music, good beer selection, and just a super chill and chic place to hang out with a date or some friends! The main attraction is the huge outdoor space in the back of the bar. There is alike a 12-foot wall surrounding the entire space with beautiful mossy and leafy plants that grew all over the walls that just add to the majesty of the space. We went when it was starting to get a bit colder no worries because between every few tables was a heater that helped to keep the patrons warm while we drank to our heart’s content! At the bar, we tried the Snack Bite – which was a pleasantly surprising and delicious concoction. I would definitely come back for either brunch or some food next time and hang out potentially during the day time! Would definitely recommend!

Keefnerâ??s – Menu with Prices – 1941 W Iles Ave, Springfield

Our sandwiches were served on stale Kaiser buns. My chocolate milkshake was made with a thin consistency, with almost no ice cream, and served in a very small glass (with no milkshake mixing container). I asked for extra chocolate and was willing to pay an upcharge, but I could barely taste the chocolate. When we were asked by the waitress what we thought about the meal and milkshake, we reported the facts and we were told that we we had to inform her earlier for her to do something about it. Concerning the milkshake, the waitress told me that it is a good thing that it only costs about three dollars. We’re not going back.

Larder of East End – Menu with Prices – 147 Julius St, Pittsburgh

Pittsburghâ??s beer scene is impressive and I was quite pleased with the different breweries I experienced when I visited the city in support of my Great Beer Now beer blog. Each had its own appeals and one of many memorable breweries I visited was East End Brewing. At East End Brewing, guests are treated to about 14 different beers on tap. I tried many of them and rated the Green Giant IPA and Rescueberry Shake, a milkshake IPA, as my three favorites. They put a good deal of effort into brewing the finest beer possible and the craftsmanship shows in every serving.East End Brewing features a large taproom with assorted seating, a pinball machine, and other extras. They have outdoor picnic tables for use when the weather is favorable and itâ??s common to find food trucks on site and itâ??s easy to find parking. Oh, and if you want beer to go, you can get a growler of draft beer or grab packaged beer from the fridge. They are kid and dog friendly, too. East End Brewing is a cool place to hang out and it once again proves something that is obvious when you visit: Pittsburghâ??s craft beer scene is on the rise, and it can now easily compete with some of the best beer cities in the nation. So be sure to swing by East End Brewing when you visit Pittsburgh. Youâ??ll be glad you did.

Hoi Polloi Brewing Taproom and Beat Lounge Menu with Prices 1763 Alcatraz Ave, Berkeley

Hoi Polloi has been on my radar for quite a while, and WHAT A FEELING when you finally get to check out a spot that has been on the list for two years. Let’s talk service. OMG, Jorge was the man. Right when my boyfriend and I walked in, he was on it with the greetings, charisma, and knowledge. I’d go back for him! They don’t sell taster options, but you can get a full or half pint–whoot. Their beer list is extensive, so I’d suggest going half-size-style until you taste the rainbow that is Hoi Polloi’s selection. Jorge explained that the history of Hoi Polloi’s brewing started right in their Berkeley tasting room. But demands kept increasing, forcing them to move their brewing efforts outside of their taproom to meet the needs of the beer-lovin’-people! So when you visit the taproom, there aren’t any tanks or production tools out. We tried their POG sour ale (very juicy, awesome mouthfeel–I hate sours with a passion, and I’d drink this. Not a lemon-puckery taste at all), Red N Black hazy IPA (my favorite!), Bernia IPA, Fundraiser IPA, People’s Park PA, Helles Lager (for my people who don’t want something strong, but are also looking for crisp and refreshing), Scotch Ale (quite good! go for it if you want something different), and nitro stout. MAN are they killin’ it with the hazy IPA’s–giving Barebottle and Fieldwork a run for their money. They have such a list for the millennial drinker, with all of the things that are “trendy” from hazy IPA’s to sours and a solid nitro. Thanks for the yummy flavors, Hoi Polloi. Plus, they have strong wifi, consistent themes, a clean unisex restroom, and USB chargers–just bring your cable! What’s better is that Jorge the GOAT serves up a hot bowl of truffle oil popcorn (AND free refills without you having to ask) once you get your drink on. Everybody knows popcorn and beer are such a great combo. Live beats don’t spin as often anymore, but they spin on “party nights” like Friday/Saturdays I believe.

Cypress & Grove Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 1001 NW 4th St, Gainesville

Visited Cypress & Grove Brewing Company on Saturday afternoon. Went with two Flights to try eight of the beers on the wall. Quality Cypress & Grove Brewing Company just felt boring to me. Each of their beers were fine, but in the golden age of beer innovation, creativity is key and I just did not see it. No funky names, no unique additives, and in the end nothing worth trying again. I ordered two Flights, the first with Pumpkin Ale, Dry Stout, Pecan Brown Ale, and 2×2 IPA and the second with American Wheat Ale, Hefeweizen, American Golden Ale, and Porter. My favorite was probably the American Wheat Ale, which balanced fruitiness and bitterness well. The Pecan Brown Ale was interesting as well, but in the end fell too much on the sweet side to be enjoyable in a larger pour. The rest were unremarkable with the Dry Stout being the only beer I truly did not like. Quantity Fair pours and an easy to transport holder for your Flight. Value Flights are $8 if you stick to the flagship beers or $10 if you select any seasonal or limited release beers. Ambiance Cypress & Grove Brewing Company is located in Gainesville. It occupies a relatively large factory building. It was a nice day so they pulled up the garage doors and let a breeze push through the space. For a beat up factory building, the immediate entrance is very nice. They have a beautiful bar front and center, which is surrounded by high-tops and tables. As you walk to the side of the bar, it quickly transforms into work space, with equipment and a musty feel. A few televisions can be found in odd places, but they were showing the top games. In the background alternative rock music played. What I did not understand is why they hadn’t utilized the outdoor space more. It seemed like a missed opportunity, though it may be related to permits. Crowd There was a small crowd of folks hanging out at the brewery. It seemed like a younger crowd, but that is not too surprising in a college town. Expect to see a lot of Gators gear and quite a few Greek letters. However, don’t expect to see any dogs, because they are quite adamant about the no pets policy. I even watched them escort a couple and their pup out. Service I had come to just hang out and enjoy some beers, but I still found myself frustrated with how slow this place operates. There were a few people working, but it only seemed like one was actually doing anything. Luckily it was not too busy, because I don’t know if they could handle a large crowd. Parking They have a very small parking lot, that was made even smaller by the presence of a food truck. Expect to park along the street if it is busy. Extra With todays beer culture even in a small town like Gainesville, expectations are high for each and every brewery. Unfortunately Cypress & Grove Brewing Company just did not hit the mark.

Aslin Beer Company Menu with Prices 847 S Pickett St, Alexandria

Let me clarify this rating – 5 STARS – HANDS DOWN – FOR THE BEER! If I could give more I would. This brewery has a cult-like following for a reason! Best beer!! I was so excited to go drink my favorite (and hard to find) beer in their own new brewery space! Their street parking was a tad difficult (nothing that shouldn’t make you not go!) but I was lucky and scored a front row spot! Upon walking inside you can sit to the left in a giant room with giant tables, or hang a right for a smaller space or pop upstairs where there are some nice chairs and even a couch! They have SO MUCH SPACE! When you walk in there’s a space they sell their aslin swag, which was all pretty great! We made our way to the bar and I asked if I could have a sample. The guy seemed a bit put off, but I explained I couldn’t remember the unique name of the beer I was looking for and wanted to make sure before I got a whole glass. The interaction seemed awkward. We also ordered the burratta. We found seating easy. When the food came out a guy, literally, did a drive by and tossed the food in front of us! We started laughing and asked each other if that really just happened!! I saw it happen to another table too! How awkward again!! The place was SO LOUD we couldn’t talk. It was so noisy you couldn’t hear the music and had to yell to have a simple conversation. Because of how loud it was we decided to leave. It was awful. I hope they consider putting up some sound panels (make them a funky color and they’ll fit right in!) so people can enjoy themselves more. While there were some video games and basketball machines for people to play, it unfortunately contributed to the noise. We even went in other rooms and upstairs to see it if was better and sadly it was not.

Hacienda Beer Co. North Ave Taproom – Menu with Prices – 2018 E North Ave, Milwaukee

Hacienda Beer Co. is a beautiful new spot on the East Side. It’s great to see how the building has been transformed from the old BBC space – the new digs are all exposed brick, greenery, beautiful lighting, and light wood. Milwaukee is the city of beer, and Hacienda is a good addition to the East Side revival. The tap list is short for now, but the beers we tried were pleasant and the ability to take four packs to-go is always nice. A cool little feature – salsa lessons were happening on the stage, open for patrons to join. We arrived on a Saturday evening around 8PM, hoping to order some food. Unfortunately, while we were perusing the delicious-looking menu options and deciding what we wanted, an employee came around and let us know they were no longer serving food. It sounded like the kitchen had been overwhelmed all day – which is fair as they’ve only been open for two weeks – however this made us stay a shorter period of time than we would have liked to. We were hungry and a little disappointed. The beers were good, including mostly hazy/hoppy options and one stout. They were all pretty similar, but this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. The customer service was a-okay. The wait at the bar was long, but again, this is just the second Saturday they’ve been open so I’m sure they’re still working out the kinks. I hope to return to Hacienda Beer Co. to check out their food options. It’s a beautiful space and another good addition to the Milwaukee beer scene.

Deep Ellum Funkytown Fermatorium – Menu with Prices – 611 University Dr, Fort Worth

So it just occurred to me that I never wrote a review for this place, so here you go: I was here for the grand opening day/week and essentially stopped by after work every day. The free beers at the time maybe had a little something to do with my decision to visit everyday, but either way, the food & beer are amazing! Anyone that lives in Texas knows Deep Ellum Brewing so when I saw a new location was opening up minutes from my office, I had to visit. First off, the pizza here is fire. During the first week, I had tried the Calabrese, Quattro Formaggi, Piggie Smalls, Soppressata, Prosciutto, and Texas AF. If you love cheese, go for the Quattro because it hits; the mozzarella, provolone, ricotta, and parmesan give you that perfect cheesy melt in your mouth. Piggie Smalls was really good too, but Texas AF has by far been my favorite. The brisket & BBQ sauce make it, it’s just so flavorful. In regards to the appetizers, make sure to try out their Fried Goat Cheese and Loaded Mac & Cheese. If you couldn’t tell already, I like cheese. Also, their wings are delicious too (I’d pick either Buffalo or Dallas Blonde BBQ). For the main attraction – BEER. BEER. BEER. As I mentioned, they had free beer during the first week so I essentially tried out everything. My go-to is the Dream Crusher, which is a double rye IPA. It isn’t as heavy as many IPA’s normally are but the taste is on point. Also good is the Easy Peasy IPA, which is a session, or the Play Date, if you like sours. I’ve been into hazy IPA’s recently so if you’re like me, go for their in-house brew called the Manic Confidence. It’s simply amazing. I’ve heard good things from other patrons regarding the Belgian Squeeze, Chido Bandito, and Dallas Dimwit. Next time I’m in, I’ll be trying all of those…and more probably. If you’re a fan of the OG Deep Ellum, make sure to stop by here or drive from across the state to try them out, because it’s worth it. There’s nothing like a nice, cold brewski in your right hand. Or left hand.
