Frets & Friends – Menu with Prices – 2105 University Ave, Green Bay

This is a small, dive bar that is always bringing some decent local music. They have a good selection of craft beers, as the owner also owns Ned Kelly’s, and they know their beer. You can also get some pretty cheap beer like $3 tall boys of Hamm’s! The stage is perfect for a four or five piece band. I’ve seen a variety of genres like rock, country and bluegrass bands and usually will enjoy the music. There’s plenty of seating through out the bar. I think that kind of hurts them when having concerts as people tend to just sit and not go up near the bands to dance and enjoy the music. Check out this bar if you’re ever in the mood for music on the weekends.

Lindberg’s Tavern – Menu with Prices – 318 W Commercial St, Springfield

I love Lindbergh’s! This is my home away from home. I moved here from St. Louis 5 years ago and this place reminds me of a St. Louis tavern. The people are awesome and the food is amazing. If you want to hear the best low key bands that come to town or great local bands than this is the spot. The decor is eclectic, antique, warm and inviting. When bands aren’t playing the background music is terrific too and it’s a different vibe everytime I come in. It’s one of my favorite spots in Springfield. Come to historic C street and check it out!!!!

The Atlantic Nightspot – Menu with Prices – 15 N Main St, Gainesville

***goth night***I just have to say that the ‘goth’ night was lacking in quality club music. The DJ claims to have tons of music but yet played 3 sisters of Mercy songs, 2 Christian death (one was followed by the Smiths… Who does that??!!) And 3 depeche mode songs in less than 2 hours. Now I must also mention the 3 second pause between every single song that leaves the people standing there looking confused and hopeful that something better would play next. Does the equipment he use lack a fade in and out button? I understand this is a once in a while type night therefore it can’t compare to other goth clubs within a 2 hour driving radius, but I heard better goth/industrial music on 80s night the previous week. For those who really truly love the music, there should be a wider variety of music in the DJs set. We like to go out and dance, not breathe in the fog and stare at the lights…***80s night***Music variety was all over the place. Pixies, The cure, wham, Whitney Huston, ah-ha, nitzer ebb, the Ramones… It got about every type of 80s except the hair bands. It gave people time to rest when the crappy 80s muzak came on (although you’d have to wait at least 5 songs to get back to the fun stuff) but the floor was pretty busy with people dancing. I would go back to this night but if I missed it, I wouldn’t be heartbroken. I guess through the years of going to clubs, I’ve gotten very spoiled and maybe in just to picky.

Ghost Runners Brewery and Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 4216 NE Minnehaha St #108, Vancouver

Nice small local brewery! The gentleman manning the bar was helpful in answering our questions about their offerings and making suggestions, plus you can have a little sample before committing to buy a pint. They have a really good variety of beers as well and at least one cider when we visited. They have a few picnic tables outside, along with a few tables & hightops inside, in addition to seating at the counter bar. For entertainment, they have some board games to play, a ping pong table and a dart board. There may have been a TV as well, but I don’t recall for certain. The inside was immaculately clean, too. They don’t have their own food, but there was a food truck there on the Friday night we visited. I’d check with the location or their website to see when a food truck is there & which one it will be, if that really matters to you. The only negative the Hubs and I had with the place is their choice in music. It was a bit too millennial-pop for us…does that mean we are getting old?? ? We like a huge variety of music, but we were not fans of the stuff they had on that Friday night. And based on the other patrons that were there that night (and yes, their ages, as half were definitely older than us and the others were much younger), I don’t think it was their kind of tunes either. But maybe it was just that night, or maybe we are really just getting old.

Embassy Suites by Hilton McAllen Convention Center – Menu with Prices – 800 Convention, C St, McAllen

This is the second time we come to this restaurant. It was recommended by one of my co-workers specifically because there is a group that plays salsa, bachata, cha cha cha, and merengue music on Friday nights. Though many restaurants and bars play that kind of music here in the valley, this one starts the live music at 7:00 pm. For us who have things to do early Saturday morning, this is great because we can come and enjoy live music and dancing Early and be home by 10:30 if we wanted to. Though the music does keep going well past 10:30, at early sleepers can call it a night after enjoying a good 3 hours of dancing and dining. The only plate I’ve had so far is the Alfredo pasta with chicken. Though it is good, it had a lot of oil. I drained the oil out, though, and enjoyed the rest of the pasta. I shall update this review after we have a second plate.

Cloud 99 Hookah – Menu with Prices – 3866 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena

Walk in they ask you: would you like water or anything to drink? #fire Hookah: #fire #smooth fumari white gummy and house choice. Get an ice tip rookie cause after a minute you’d need it cause you wanna keep it going. Interior: limited seating, but come one come all, this place was a gem I found on a stressful night after work. I saw people studying, I saw people enjoying it with a party of one, party of two, and even a party of 6. Couches are comfy to sit in. Sink deep, but I’m sure that doesn’t bother anyone. They don’t look worn out and torn so I THATS always a plus right? Music: music is important for a place. Doesn’t matter if it’s a place filled with 1-200 people. From classics to jamz #143 the dude had #fire Parking: came late at night, but plenty of street parking along colorado. I’m pretty sure I saw two people going out through the back, whatever they had up next must have been a choice after this place because who would want to stop the party? #noone #goodnight

The Charleston Pour House – Menu with Prices – 1977 Maybank Hwy, Charleston

We’ve lived down the street from this bar/venue for over 1 year, but had never entered. Had a handful of unfortunate experiences at the nearby Kwei Fei, perhaps that prevented us from crossing the threshold. About me & my sig other, we are from Utah, and between the 2 of us have lived in: San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Miami, and New York City. Walking into this slightly dive-y joint, was a breath of fresh air for us. Never considered to be a hipster, but live music patron; damn skippy. The space is much larger than the street preview would let on. The major interior is open air, which is awesome. Lots of tables & standing room. Bathrooms be damned, no maintenance, no soap-bring pocket sanitizer. It is refreshing to be in a space where the diversity of the patrons is celebrated. We forgot where we were, lost in the local punk bands of the night, cheering Jameson shots & enjoying a much needed release from the pollution of daily life. It is my understanding this space showcases bands nightly, locals & tourists alike, do check it out. Distraction is a necessary antidote to daily life. Cheers!

The Exchange – Menu with Prices – 314 E Michigan Ave, Lansing

For Lansing, this is a really good nightclub. Any decent city, anywhere else, this would be a minor establishment, with little to say. But for the Capital City, this is as good as it gets for anyone, man or woman, 35+. Don’t believe the reviews below, most of which are dated more than a few years ago. There are women in their mid to late 20s who have come to the Exchange and have had a blast, including bachelorette parties and birthday parties. You get a good mix of people here, most have some money in order to afford $5 beers. They dress nice, and are friendly. That alone is a huge plus. The bands play cover songs from the 80s and 90s and early 2000s … but they are usually polished, fun, and get the crowd moving! They are not wedding bands, as one kid posted below. They are good musicians who know how to sound great performing hits that everyone knows and loves … and they add new guitar solos, drum solos, and add flutes and other instruments for a new take on an old favorite! There are all kinds of people that come here. Some come to meet new people. Some come to get picked up. Some come to watch, Many women come to dance! Its a clean environment, safe (in 10 years I have never seen a fight or weird drunken scene), and parking is easy. No cover is really nice!! The upstairs is comfy, with plush couches and private areas for intimate conversation and checking out a nice fireplace. Summary: if you want to go out, the Exchange is a good choice. Start the night there at 9pm, or come back after partying somewhere else and show up for crazy dancing at 12:30am. Its close to other places, so if it happens to be dead (it can be at times, even on a Friday or Saturday, it appears random. Last Saturday night it was packed!) you can still check out other spots.

It’ll Do Saloon – Menu with Prices – 4125 Gollihar Rd, Corpus Christi

It’ll Do Saloon is an Excellent Friendly Neighborhood Bar with Live Music Thursday thru Saturday nights. Open Jam on Thursday nights is hosted by Cody Gonzalez of the Rockoholics Band. Live Music/Bands on Friday & Saturday nights. Been going there off & on for 4 years since 2014. I’m pretty much a regular patron there now days, I love good Live Music. The Old Pub – Menu with Prices – 420 S 11th St, Lincoln

I love The Old Pub! It has a ton of regulars of all ages and professions that give it a neighborhood bar feel. The bar is a long bar that seats 15-18 people. There are 5 or 6 tall top tables that seat 4 comfortably with additional seating of regular tables as well. There are 6 tv’s generally showing varous sporting events and internet radio music as well as a jukebox. Drink prices are super cheap especially for a downtown bar. They are known for their Bloody Mary’s with mix that is made in house. A favorite of Husker tailgaters! Tuesday and Friday nights are busy nights and a lot of fun to hang out and drink with anyone you happen to sit by. The bar is open 7 days a week at noon. Happy hour is 3-7 Monday through Friday and they have $2.50 domestics and wells. After 7 each night has it’s own drink special. Friday night the owner provides some sort of food around 5 that’s free. During football season home game days there is also food for tailgaters. The bar is probably the cleanest bar I have ever been in. It is obvious the owner cares about the bar and it’s business.

Oasis Fresh – Menu with Prices – 500 W Diversey Pkwy, Chicago

I have to be honest, I try to not get attached to restaurants that take over this space. Because I remember Panini Republic, and that was my spot. And I remember that lobster place in name only, because I never went. But one day I was walking home from the lakefront and the kid was feeling famished. I stopped long enough to read the Oasis menu and when I saw vegetarian/vegan offerings, I said “what the hey.” Since that day, I’ve been in Oasis an obscene amount of times. I love their falafel bowl. I love the amount of veggies I’m able to pile on there. I’ll usually get a large and that it’s so big that I have half for lunch and half for dinner. I’d say it’s reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. But the last star is for the service, because everyone who works there is as friendly as it gets. Oasis, stick around for a while, please!

My Place Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 811 Foreman Dr, Lafayette

Great neighborhood bar!! Love the atmosphere, always great bands on the stage and good burgers and onion rings cooking up in the kitchen. I have been on a crowded Friday night and a lazy weekend afternoon and service is always great! I’m coming back to check out the plate lunches during the week!
