I think the food was closer to a 4 but the incredible service definitely bumped the experience to a 5. I was here for a small get together with friends. The lay out of the restaurant is a little weird. You come in through the front of the restaurant that isn’t anywhere near parking. Then there is a front half of the restaurant, middle section is the kitchen and the back half restaurant again. We went for dinner while it was still light and plenty of sun coming through the windows. The back half has a little bar area but I can’t imagine sitting at it. I got a lovely specialty house infused cocktail. Not large not super strong and very tasty!! I also ordered a chicken veggie rice dish off the specialty menu. They ask how spicy you want your dish, for every dish! I really like that option. There is also a plate of sauces that come to the table to add additional spice. Try them!! I was thoroughly satisfied with my meal. The rice has free refills, another nice option. I also go takeout for the family. An order of pad see ew and pad Thai. They said they were good. I found them bland but I got mild for both of them per their request. This place is definitely a must try- even if you just get take out!

Big Mama Chims Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 905 Alley A, Columbia

This is very authentic! Truly a hidden gem. As a New Yorker, I was surprised that we were able to get such great (Northern) Thai food in Columbia, MO. I ordered the Tom Kha soup with sticky rice on the side ($2.50 for the sticky rice, but it well worth it), and my friends ordered green curry chicken rice and Pad Thai. They were all very satisfied! I also love the fact that they have the ‘spice caddy’ for every table, which includes peanuts, Thai dry chili flakes and spicy sour sauce. The Thai tea was on the sweet side and they mixed it with half and half instead of the traditional condensed milk. When the server takes your order, you’ll be asked to indicate the spicy level you’d like to have in your food, on a scale of 3 to 10: 3 being the least spicy and 10 being the most spicy. I chose 6.5 because I was told by my friend (who loves spicy food) says that 7 was pretty hot. I love my Tom Kha – it was just the right amount of spiciness and the right amount of food. The coconut milk that is part of the Tom Kha really added a great complexity to the dish. A must-try!

Piri Piri Chicken – Menu with Prices – 7722 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Richmond

This place is super yum! I came here 3 times and missed a 4th while in town for a week and a half if that tells you anything. And that’s odd for me since I like variety. I think the half chicken is a great option – great price and lots of food: rice, beans, 2x corn/chile muffins, and a delicious half of a chicken!! Rice is usually blah but Piri Piri’s is good such that you actually want to eat it. The chicken – awesome! Especially when doused with their sauce. If you ask for hot sauce they’ll give you the piri piri sauce…which is great but on only slightly spicy. Tip: ask for the hot, hot sauce which is kept in the back because “not a lot of people ask for it” (I just don’t think they know about it). That one is actually spicy. I got the burrito too since I was told it was popular. It is very good but it doesn’t let the quality of the chicken/restaurant standout. My favorite part of visiting was Monica at the front. She was fun to banter with and super nice!

Mr.Thai Bistro – Menu with Prices – 785 W Warner Rd #103, Gilbert

Yummy, the best Thai food I’ve had thus far! Stopped by for dinner during the week and we were the only ones dining in. The server (he might be the owner) quickly told us to pick a table and he dropped off the menus. There were a lot of yummy dishes to look from so we ended up ordering three to share. We ordered a chicken fried rice, a tom yum soup, and a chicken veggie delight dish. All with medium spice. He said they had three different spice levels. The soup came out first and it was piping hot. It was severed to us in a hot pot with the flame lit inside. The soup was really good but it was really really spicy. The broth is delicious. The chicken fried rice has got to be one of the best ones I’ve ever tasted! It was so good! The chicken veggie delight was also really good and had a unique flavor. Ugh my mouth is watering at the moment… The server was great and friendly! We will definitely be back!

Spice it up – Menu with Prices – 8626 N Lower Sacramento Rd, Stockton

I’m giving a one star mainly for the service. Three friends and I came in around 1pm on a Saturday for lunch. The restaurant was mostly empty and only had five or so tables filled. Some parties were already midway through their meal. We ordered fried rice and pad thai and got our waters, and everything was fine until we realized we noticed groups that came after us starting to get their food. At first it was dishes that would’ve been quick to make, like eggrolls, and we didn’t mind that. But then we saw that a group of four classmates who arrived after we ordered get their main dishes. We asked about our food and was told it would be out soon. We asked again 15 minutes later, and the waitress gave the excuse that other groups got their food faster because they ordered soup that was pre-prepared. However, we are not blind. We could see that the our classmates had also ordered fried rice and noodles. We also talked to them afterwards and confirmed that we had similar orders. We ended up waiting for an hour for our food. And the first dish of fried rice they brought to us had been ordered “spicy,” but the spice level was overkill and made the dish impossible to eat. Not sure if it was my fault for ordering the dish spicy or the staff overdoing the spice to mess with us. I couldn’t even eat the mild pad thai when it came because of the residual burning. They tried to make up for it by having the owner come check on us while we were still waiting for food. He asked if everything was ok then walked to the next table. He did not seem apologetic at all. They also gave us one dessert to share among the four of us, but between the long wait and blatant lies, I don’t think I’ll be eating here again.

Essy’s Kabob Dining, Catering & Take-out – Menu with Prices – 5207 Madison Ave A, Sacramento

Incredibly disappointed. I really wanted a good lunch today and after looking at the reviews and food this place looked like it would provide that. I walk in and it appears to be a clean establishment with no customers there yet. He hands me a menu and I pull a chair out to sit down only to see it is covered with rice so I pick another table that has clean chairs. I open the menu and see only 4 items. A chicken kabob with rice, seasoned ground beef with rice, a combo skewer and a veggie dish. None of the items looked very desirable but I went ahead and ordered the chicken kabob with rice. Plate arrives and there isn’t much to it. Chicken, rice, half a lime, and a grilled half tomato. Not much flavor to any of it so I squeezed the lime over everything and used the hot sauce. Not the meal I was hoping for. Then an older couple come in that seem to know the owner and speak with a similar accent. There plates come out much quicker than mine did and low and behold there is a delicious looking and smelling lamb shank on his plate with some tasty looking veggies. I get the servers attention and ask him which item that was on the menu. He replies it is on the dinner menu, which he didn’t give me but grabbed one to show me now, and that you can get it if you ask for it. WTF over? I would of much rather had that dish than the bland one I had so now I’m offended and pissed off. Selective service just doesn’t do it for me. Get your act together and offer all of your patrons the same thing. Rude!

Rose Apple Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1981 Diners Ct, San Bernardino

If you like your orange chicken to taste like orange breading with barely any chicken, along with a side of terrible customer service, this is the restaurant for you! Let me explain. In addition to our orders of pad see ew, panang, we decided to get the orange chicken as well since Yelp had listed it as one of the popular dishes. Unfortunately the dish was garbage. Heavily breaded with extremely thin slices of chicken. After a couple bites I told the waiter that we weren’t happy with the dish since it barely has any chicken; this d-bag waiter then decides to yell loudly so the whole restaurant can hear, “what??? There’s chicken, cut it in front of me! See, chicken! Cut it in front of me, see chicken! Cut some more, see, chicken”………all while I’m cutting in front of him and need a microscope to see barely any f*****g chicken, moron. He makes no effort to hear my multiple attempts to explain so I’m like alright dude whatever. Then he proceeds to talk smack about our table to another customer…that’s sitting in front of us. To say that this waiter is an idiot is an understatement. Panang, fried rice, and whatever else we ordered was average at best.

T. Jin’s China Diner – Menu with Prices – 2722 W Grand Pkwy N #100, Katy

The food was great I’ll definitely order again! One downside is that there was no additional things that come with the food such as a combo plate with an egg roll soup an rice of your choice. It’s just the protein and $1.00 more for rice of your choice. Anything additional is separate. Which on the good side, the main course is a large portion! So it’s worth what you pay. The shrimp fried rice was perfect! General Tso Shrimp was great (a little too spicy for me but still awesome!) my kids loved the sweet and sour shrimp. An finally the chicken egg roll was the best I’ve had in a while!

EL POLLO REY – Menu with Prices – 901 Kansas Ave, Kansas City

El Pollo Rey translates to “the chicken king” and that worthy title is definitely deserved. The menu is INSANELY simple: you only have three options to choose from. There is the half chicken plate, whole chicken plate or buffalo wings. Each entree comes with a side of beans, rice, salsa and tortillas. Let’s start with the star of the show: the chicken. It is grilled to literal perfection. When you walk in, you can see a massive grill that lines the back of the kitchen. Rows of chicken pieces are sizzling and cooking and the aroma fills the small restaurant (*be warned that the chicken smell will linger on anything you bring into the restaurant: clothes, purses etc; had to go home and do a load of laundry ). The chicken is seasoned well and very tender. I especially liked how it was perfectly charred so that you get a nice smoky flavor. The sides were decent; the rice was flavorful and the beans went well with the chicken (I made soft tacos with the meat & beans). The half chicken plate is honestly enough food for two people (or one VERY hungry person). I had a hard time finishing it, and that’s saying something. The food is also very cheap (the half chicken plate is only $7) so you definitely get bang for your buck. I sat in the restaurant, but a lot of people came and did takeout too.

Nana thai & Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 430 E 25th St #37, Tacoma

My boyfriend and I came to the Freight House Square area to get macarons from La Waffletz. However, we wanted to have a quick lunch. There were so many places to choose from but we settled on this Thai and teriyaki place. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki and my boyfriend ordered the pad Thai. I believe it was $8.95 each and a bottle of water for $1. Good prices. We both love spicy food so he had ordered the pad Thai dish in 5 star spicy level. The wait time was average and we were excited to dig in. Let me start by saying the portion size is very generous. We were able to eat and become full with half the portion. My spicy chicken was good. The chicken wasn’t dry and had a nice spice level to it. Two very large scoops of rice lay beneath the chicken. It also came with a salad and a ranch base dressing on the side. I didn’t really care for the dressing but the chicken and lettuce together is also a good combination. My boyfriend didn’t like his pad Thai. He mentioned that the noodles were really wet and had an off taste. I tried some and agreed something was off. The noodles could have been stir fried a little longer so they could be softer and for more of the sauce to coat and absorb into them. We both agreed that we would definitely not order that dish again. Overall, it was an ok lunch. Really nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly and I’d recommend to anyone looking for a big portion of average Asian food.

F&F Express – Menu with Prices – 8704 Cypress Waters Blvd suite 160, Irving

This is our new favorite fast grab meal! If you get a regular size bowl, you choose either steamed, brown, or fried rice as your base. On top of that, you get sweet potato noodles and grilled veggies (largely carrot, cabbage, onions that are peppered and salted). I usually opt for half the rice, no noodles, and more veggies! Then you can choose from a variety of meat options like different types of battered chicken, beef bulgogi, and spicy pork. My favorite is the spicy pork, but my husband prefers the bulgogi. Next, you automatically get two delicious and crispy dumplings and a spoonful of sweet corn. Lastly, you choose your combination of sauces: spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, and spicy teriyaki sauce. I usually get the spicy mayo and spicy teriyaki! They have a $5 bowl option that’s a really good deal, especially if you aren’t super hungry as the regular bowl is way more food than I can personally eat. You only get one dumpling and additional vegetables like the sweet corn are fifty cents extra. You still get all the sauces you want. They have tons of parking and Pepsi sodas. Great delicious and wallet-friendly meal option!

Golden Pork Tonkotsu Ramen Bar – Menu with Prices – 1279 S King St, Honolulu

Our first time here and my impression was that it was OK, some good things and some not so good, 3.5 stars. We came for dinner on a Monday at 6:00 so it wasn’t too crowded. Tip: don’t come at 6:00, there is no parking, if you come at 6:30 there is ample free parking on S. King St. Let’s start with the appetizers. The spicy cucumber was just OK, not too spicy but the garlic chips were good. The gyoza was delicious, served to us piping hot and juicy. Really nice flavor to them, we ordered another plate. The karate chicken was also piping hot and juicy, really delicious and we did order another dish. We ordered one pork belly bun for each diner and they was also really delicious, can’t go wrong starting with this dish. The sukiyaki pizza was a total flop, the crust had the texture of a soggy flour tortilla, pass on this one. Lastly, the char siu with onions were a flop. There wasn’t any flavor to them and the meat was sliced paper thin. There also wasn’t any onions on the plate either, pass on this one also. Now for our entrees. We had various bowls of ramen and tsukumen on our table with the various types of broth. The noodles were enjoyed by all who ordered them with the main comments being that the noodles were cooked perfectly and the broths were enjoyable. There were also 2 orders of the sukiyaki bowls on our table, one ordered with a soft egg on it. The problem with this dish is that there is very little meat compared to the rice and the rice was served mushy. It was not a substantial dish so do’t order this if you are hungry or you will be disappointed, in fact don’t order this dish at all. The egg added richness but the lack of protein was evident with the amount of leftover rice in our bowls. Golden Pork Tonkotsu serves some really good noodle dishes so next time I come I will stick to ordering the ramen dishes.

Asiana Kitchen Tofu & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1135 S Dobson Rd #104, Mesa

This place was recommended, so I thought I would go ahead and give it a try. I do like how it’s at a food court right next to door a Korean or oriental grocery store. I ordered a spicy dish that was recommended, and realized that it was too much for one entire dish. It was made with rice everything. Although the dish didn’t come with kimchi, the cashier generously offered it to me anyhow. One of the cooks suggested that I balance out my spicy dish with a vegetable that’s pickled, I don’t remember what type of vegetable it was, it was readily available on a table with sauces, and is yellow. It would have been nice if there were a few dishes on the plate, not just one. Their portions were huge! They had several other options, like spam fried rice. And they did also have vegetarian options as well, like Chap Chae. When we were there, there was hardly anyone else. It was between lunch and dinner, so that was not surprised. Thankfully, people started rolling in soon after we were eating. I wouldn’t mind coming back to explore some more. And give it a little bit more time and try other dishes. Around the area was a bakery, another restaurant, an area where cosmetics and skin care products were sold, a table with water filter that included alkaline water. Most everything was in Korean writing and some English. I adored the wall photos and how it advertised Arizona’s beauty.
