I was with my daughter and I remembered getting an Yelp advertising email recently about a new place that offers Chinese food lunch and dinner buffet for dirt cheap pricing! I was but hesitant first, but I felt since it was recently opened, it was worth trying. The drive there was fine but when I got closer to the restaurant, my navigation took me to the back of the building. Since it is within a commercial building, it was bit hard to find. But I kinda guessed it would located in the front of the plaza, I drove around and there it was! There were plenty of parking in the front. There were few designated parking right in front of the restaurant as well. When I walked in, I noticed how empty the restaurant was. I dont mean not having customers empty(even though we were the only ones there) bit more regarding the decor. The interior was more on the modern side with the store front food display like panda express and all the other Chinese fast food chains but the interior decoration looked barren. My suggestion is to decorate the interior to meet your target customers, young, hip and hungry. The food was surprisingly better than I expected. I just assumed it would be no different than the other Chinese fastfood I have had in the past. There were about 12 choices included in the buffet. They have many other individual entrees in the menu, but I was there for the lunch buffet so lets focus on that for now. I first asked for fried rice and chowmen because i never have Chinese fast food without them! They were very fresh and tasteful! I asked small portion of everything. The fried dumpling and eggrolls were also fresh and crispy. I also liked the spicy chicken and broccoli beef. All the entrees were the usuals but they were all very good. I am going to come back for the individual entrees but if you are hungry and want to have some decent Chinese fastfood, check out this place!!

Down to Earth Jamaica Farmers Market Saturday – Menu with Prices – 90-38 160th St, Jamaica

There’s a wide array of food to choose from. From Chinese food, to Japanese food to Spanish cuisine as well as Trinidadian food, you can pick and choose whatever you’d like to eat. Mind you, in the spring and summer time, there are also vendors selling fruits and vegetables outside of the entrance leading to Jamaica Avenue. As much as I don’t really leave many businesses five stars, they’re pretty good. The Japanese restaurant gives you samples of teriyaki chicken to taste. They also have specials where a small plate of chicken teriyaki, vegetables and fried rice is about $4. Also, the Chinese restaurant has a special in which their small plates are $3.50, the medium is $4.50 and the large plate is $5.50. I purchases a large plate from the Chinese restaurant. They have a hot steam table there as well. It’s a small buffet servicing your usual Chinese American food such as fried rice, bourbon chicken, chicken with broccoli etc. It also comes with an iced tea (I don’t really need sweet drinks so I threw it away). The Spanish food buffet is also very delicious. I believe their food is weighed and the buffet has a variety of options to choose from. You have plantains, stewed chicken, fried chicken, pork chops, yellow rice and avocado salad. If you’re uninterested in coughing up a lot of money for a simple plate of lunch, order a dish on the menu and they will also cook it right in front of your face. I’m giving them 5 stars since they’re accessible to students at York College who are uninterested in paying for lunch in the school. I also like the fact that a lady is selling jewelry. That’s another plus. I just wish they’d stay open after 7pm.

Singyun Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 150 Provencher Blvd, Winnipeg

Of all things, to go to the city’s French quarter and have Chinese food. That said, zero regrets were had. Blink and you’ll miss the place along the Provencher strip. The lunch buffet has the usual variety of standard north American interpretation of Chinese food, chicken balls, sweet and sour pork, ginger beer, fried rice and noodles. There was plenty more to list, but that’s for you to find out about on your own. The food was well prepared, like for example, the chicken balls unlike other places I’ve gone were mostly meat, not a sea of fried batter with a tiny pearl like nucleus of meat. For the price of the buffet, to it also include a drink is down right just bananas. The place is a little dated in its decor, but it adds the the charm. There is nothing pretentious here, just decent north american Chinese food at unbelievably reasonable prices.

El Herradura – Menu with Prices – 11700 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville

I have been wanting to try here for several months but I have had problem convincing my wife to do a Mexican buffet. We arrived at 6pm on a week night and the place was full, but with a short wait. Stayed full for the next hour. They have a large selection of individual meals but also a small buffet. I did the buffet for the opportunity to try several different items. The flavor of everything I tried was above average. I was initially impressed with their salsa. It wasn’t overly spicy and was thick and not watery. Only issue for me was the lack of food description on the buffet. Guess it didn’t matter since I tried almost everything. I will return and maybe next time for the lunch buffet.

Hibachi Super Buffet – Menu with Prices – 1164 W Southern Ave, Mesa

Let’s start at the beginning. Once I arrived by myself and stood there by myself for several minutes. A girl finally looked up from playing with her phone and asked “How many?” I believe she meant that rhetorically because I was the only person standing there in the entrance and had been the only one for several minutes. I did not let that sway my opinion and took my assigned seat. First up, I tried the sushi and was very disappointed. Well, the fried sushi wasn’t bad, but then again how do you screw up fried anything. I returned to my seat with what would become disappointing plate number one, and found that my drink had not yet arrived. I also noticed a few new neighbors and learned that this place also follows the ancient Chinese tradition on sardine seating. Even though the place was more then half empty it is important to place each new victim as close to each other as possible. My second plate was slightly less disappointing as the first. A combo of chicken, and Chinese staples. Some Lo Mein noodles, an egg roll, orange and spicy chicken, a pot-sticker and the Cheese Ragoon with crab oil. Not to be mistaken for Crab Ragoon which actually has crab in it. The Lo Mein was dry and Spaghetti noodles, The egg roll was frozen or was steam cooked in some left over dish water. Is it just me or shouldn’t a Chinese buffet at the very least have a decent Egg Roll? The orange chicken was okay, and the spicy as well. Well I’m new to this area and am still on the look out for a decent Chinese buffet. Say what you will about there politics, but the little commie bastards can cook when they actually try. As for this place I don’t think try made it into the handbook and training videos. So you’re best to skip ahead and try someplace else.

Lucky Express Asian Fusion – Menu with Prices – 11970 Washington St, Denver

I just moved here from out of state about 6 months ago, and have been looking for a decent Chinese fast food restaurant with no luck. Not sure if it’s just this area, but I haven’t found any good Chinese food until now! I came here at 8:40pm, twenty minuets before their closing. I felt bad coming in so late but I was starving. The lady behind the counter was so sweet, she even told me she would make something fresh for me to eat. Honestly everything looked good that was out (I used to be in the restaurant industry so trust me I’m weird about food/sanitation). They have a combo special for rice or chow mein, two entrees, and a drink or egg roll for 5.50! That’s a dang good deal!! I got the BBQ chicken and the Mongolian beef. Uhmm.. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE (or at least 6 months)! Pretty dang good fast food Chinese. Thank you for opening I am so excited I live close by! Also I have plenty of leftovers. I still can’t get over that sweet combo price, thank the lawddd!

Gaslight Kitchen Asian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 2128 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids

One of the things I missed most about moving from Seattle to GR was the lack of good Chinese food – there is finally a place here that is as good or better than what I could get on the west coast! This restaurant just opened recently at the edge of Gas Light Village in EGR – it’s a relatively small location, with only seating for maybe 40 people inside. Parking is all on the street, but there’s plenty of free parking in the area (Street, D&W, etc). The interior was completely renovated before the opened, and it’s quite nice – updated flooring, bright colors. The also have unisex bathrooms that are quite large, and nicely accented. We came in on a Monday night and the place was pretty packed – we had to wait about 15 minutes for them to find two tables to seat our party of 6 at. It was a little tight (as I said above, small restaurant), but it was fine since the food is served family style. As for the food – simply amazing. We had Crab Cheese and Steamed Dumplings for appetizers. The Crab cheese were fried perfectly and had a nice sweet cheese/crab taste to the filling – absolutely delicious. The steamed dumplings were also perfect – a nice soft dough exterior and then the meat inside – they were also huge! They barely fit in your mouth. For an entree I had lemon chicken, which is my go to dish at Chinese restaurants. It was delicious – the chicken was a pounded out and breaded chicken breast which that was drenched in the most amazing lemon sauce – I’m not even sure how to describe it. It was probably the best lemon sauce I’ve ever had. The rest of my party also really liked the food. For the kids, there is no dedicated kids menu but we ordered sweet and sour chicken (fried) with the sauce on the side (picky eaters as always) – they were very accommodating to us ordering the food this way (they did think it was a bit funny :)) – the kids loved it. It’s also very reasonable – for a party of 6 the bill was only $78 – they had a special where if you order 3 entrees you get a free crab cheese which, but even without that deal it would have been well below $100. Easily my favorite Chinese restaurant in GR. This will be our new go to for take out as well (they just need to get on GrubHub!)

Linnie’s Thai – Menu with Prices – 5306 W Sunset Hwy, Spokane

A small mom & pop Asian restaurant called “Asian Restaurant” with great and friendly owners. At the end of our meal the pops chatted it up with us which was enjoyable. He mentioned that he’s been cooking for over 55 years! As far as my food went, it was just alright. I got the almond chicken with pork fried rice lunch combo. The flavor was a bit lacking and the portion left me wanting for a bit more, but for about $8 it wasn’t too bad. With my Diet Pepsi it was just enough to satisfy my lunch hunger. The best part of the meal was actually the fortune cookies. They weren’t the cheaper cardboard-tasting ones that Chinese restaurants usually cheap out on. All in all, it was “good enough” but nothing to rave about. If you’re hungry and craving Chinese this is fine for $8.

Asian Flavor – Menu with Prices – 4839 TN-58, Chattanooga

The wife and I were traveling home from visiting the Northern Georgia mountains. We passed by and said let’s give it a try. We were there for lunch and tried the buffet. There’s a good selection but too much. Everything was very good. I had the Kung Pao chicken with noodles and rice. The wife had the General Taos chicken with rice and noodles, egg rolls and crab rangoon. Everything was hot and tasted great. You need to ask for the chili oil. It was also fresh. The owners, I think, were very much into service. Our drink glasses never got a chance to even get half empty plus as soon as your plate was finished, it was picked up and taken away. They also did great at anticipating if you might need something such as more napkins. As we sat there eating, the food at the buffet was constantly getting replaced which kept it hot and ready to eat. If you don’t want the buffet, they also have lunch specials that can be ordered. There was quite a list for those specials. We also noticed they were very busy with call in orders. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, we lived in Southern California and have been to some fantastic Chinese restaurants. We were quite impressed with Asian Flavor. We will be back when we’re in the neighborhood again.

Break Fast Grill – Menu with Prices – 310 Polk Dr, Tallahassee

We were headed home this morning and I spotted the word Break on a sign set back from the main road. Curious if the rest of the sign said Fast, we turned around to check it out.It did say Break Fast. And Buffet. Since it was still morning and we hadn’t had breakfast, we had to try it.The restaurant was new. It’s been open about a week. The building is a bit run down but the interior looked clean. There were several two-top high tables along the windows as well as regular tables and chairs in the dining room. We first sat at a high table but when the server brought over the pancakes she suggested we might prefer a larger table. Good suggestion. For $7.97 you get an all you can eat breakfast. Coffee and drinks are extra. Eggs, pancakes and waffles are made to order. All the other items were on a serve yourself buffet. You can check the website to see all that’s on the menu. Salad items were available at breakfast. Ice cream is also available all the time. The two most interesting things to note is that the sausage gravy and grits were delicious. These are two of my least favourite breakfast foods at a restaurant but I always like to sample them at a new place. Their grits and sausage gravy were delicious. The grits didn’t taste like water and the gravy had big chunks of meat in it.The server came over to see if we wanted waffles and pancakes. I ordered a waffle, Walter ordered pancakes. They were perfect. The server was exceptionally friendly and almost mother-like as she kept insisting we needed to tell her to tell the chef to ‘drop some more pancakes.’ Cold cereal and fresh fruit were also available.I am looking forward to going back here to try their lunch buffet.

Pho House Restaurant Bar – Menu with Prices – 1454 2nd Ave, Des Moines

Well I’ve been to the past 2 restaurants that have been in this location, and they have all been Vietnamese restaurants and ended up closed down. Now, there is another Vietnamese restaurant here to take it’s spot, called Pho House. It is less a restaurant and more like a Pho cafe. There is plenty of parking in the front and the side of the restaurant. Upon entering, you are greeted with partially designed Asian-inspired interior, followed by the dining area just plain tables with no decor. The staff members all seem to be younger here. When shown the menu, my first reaction was “Is this all?” There were a few appetizer items, Pho dishes, and a few Vietnamese/Chinese dishes, that’s all; it is a very small menu. We had the eggrolls and the Pho House Special. The eggrolls and Pho were okay, there was nothing exciting about them, they tasted fine. There were not any other customers here while we ate during lunch. There were plenty of younger kids there who appeared to be friends of the staff members who just hung out at a table with the staff. There was a bar area that appeared to be still a work-in-progress as well as large speakers. I’m not sure if they have a different scene at night with a bar-atmosphere, but lunch was a bit disappointing.

Gateway Snack Shop Menu with Prices 11400 114th Ave SE # 150, Bellevue

Excellent little deli/cafe inside this office building. I work up the street and routinely come here for lunch. Everything is made with fresh ingredients directly in front of you. The menu is varied with a great selection of lunch and breakfast items including espresso, soups and sandwiches, and wraps. My only issue is that during lunch this place gets busy and there’s a bit of a wait because the only person who preps the items is the business owner and she’s working as fast as she can but I don’t mind because of the quality of the items she delivers. I wish we had something like this in my office building that she ran!

Yoki Buffet – Menu with Prices – 1145 NW Broad St, Murfreesboro

There’s just something about a clean restaurant. I appreciate that the place, compared to the previous restaurant, is a total 180 fr. This place has new owners. Hopefully the new owners stay longer and not sell out. Anyways, other than the cleanliness, they offer a very large variety of Chinese food. To accommodate kids and the local population, American food is offered as well. There are three types of food offered: sushi, stand hot Chinese food, and hibachi. I tried two out of three. I wasn’t really hungry, but the food was good. If you’ve been to a Chinese buffet, Yoki’s offers the standard fare. Therefore I picked a little bit of everything. There was the lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, sautéed green beans, and glazed button mushrooms. I picked up a few pieces of sushi as well. I wasn’t adventurous so I just got California roll, spicy tuna roll and a vegetable roll. The sushi was OK. The Hibachi is just uncooked ingredients laid out buffet style. You pick stuff, the cook sauté them all together, and puts in on a plate for you. I didn’t have hibachi at this visit. I’ll try it the next time with the family. Overall it was a good experience. The price was fair. Three people, 3 drinks, and 3 desserts it came out to be about $35. Your mileage may vary.
