I still can’t believe what happened tonight. Our server made a mistake and brought out a wrong dish. I ordered a poke SALAD, but he brought out a poke BOWL. I didn’t noticed the error until I saw the bill. I pointed that out to the server, assuming that he would just correct the mistake (so that I would pay for what I ordered rather than when he brought out by mistake). The server was apologetic but kept saying there’s nothing they could do to fix it. His manager came out and told me the same thing but WITH AN ATTITUDE. I’m Japanese and I hate any kind of confrontation especially in public. I was with my son and his friend’s family even, but I’m not naive enough to pay extra for a mistake the server made. Anyway, it was still so embarrassing for me to “argue” with the manger. At a normal restaurant in the US, THEY will apologize for having made a mistake and promptly correct the mistake. I just could not believe why they had to make such a big deal out of a small mistake their server made. The manager finally said to me “Next time when there’s a mistake, tell us before you eat it, OK?” in a very condescending manner. He unwillingly corrected the mistake, brought back the corrected bill, STUCK it out in front of my face, and said “Are you happy now?” It then all made perfect sense to me why the server started sweating PROFUSELY when he realized he’d made a mistake. His manager is a big A**HOLE! First and foremost, I recommend that you do not work here as a server. Second, please do not support a business where the management intimidates their employees or their customers. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” so that I can improve my future reviews. Freezer’s Sports Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 83 E Broadway Rd, Tempe

I have been here one time and will not go back. I am a server and have never in my life complained or wrote a review. I have also never been in a situation where I needed to leave one. However I went to watch the game last night with 2 friends. It took 30 mins before we were even greeted. And even then we were only greeted because the manager came to our table to ask if we’ve been helped. Finally the manager gets us a server. We ordered onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and queso dip. Our simple little appetizers took another 20 minutes to come out. At this point we called the manager over again, he tells us he is sorry and will take care of it. Our food was cold when it finally arrived, but we were so hungry and upset we didn’t complain. We got our bill and it was discounted 1/2 way. However our items were on happy hour which were $5 each so we were charged full price and discounted on the full price. It would have been cheaper for us to pay the happy hour price. And had it not been for the game we would have not stayed. I wish I would have read the reviews before going to this place. Believe the reviews!

The Lost Cajun – Southlands Menu with Prices 6105 S Main St, Suite 104-F, Aurora

Our first experience with Lost Cajun was years ago at the original Frisco restaurant. With the expansion of locations we were thrilled to get one in Southlands, we love the food. We have never had a bad dining experience there until last night. Our server was a pleasant, eager to please guy who somehow added a $13 item to our final bill when the card was run. He apologized and went to find his manager who had apparently stepped out…more profuse apologies. The manager reappears, server tells us the transaction is being deleted. Twenty minutes later we?re still waiting for a corrected check. The manager is wandering around, didn?t come talk to us, the server kept talking to him, the manager reamed the server…we?re still waiting! Server was so upset and frustrated, he offered to pay our bill, we told him no way. Another five minutes goes by the manager finally appears at our table, tells me the incorrect check was deleted, hands me his card and comps our meal. Thank you but we offered to pay, we were upset mostly at the way our server was treated. He clearly needed his manager?s authority to correct our check but was ignored and chastised instead! I felt so bad for him and I told the manager I didn?t appreciate how he was treating his employee. No apology from the guy. It wasn?t about the comp (we tipped our server still) it was the entire process or lack of in correcting the check and the treatment of his server.

AH-SO Sushi & Steak – Menu with Prices – 6033 W Bell Rd, Glendale

A little common sense and courtesy. That’s all it would have taken by the management of this establishment for me to not even write this review of what proved to be a mediocre and basic sushi meal, rather than to turn it into a negative experience that warrants this negative review. I say this because the sole reason that I chose this spot was because they are offering a coupon on the website LocalFlavor for $10 off $30 or more of sushi, a coupon which I grabbed and activated before going to the restaurant. When there, I ordered even more sushi than I normally would have to hit the $30 spend requirement, and everything was brought out as expected. The sushi itself was decent – nothing amazing but certainly edible – and overall I was content with the value given the coupon. However when the time came to pay the bill, I presented the coupon to the server who responded that they “aren’t taking this coupon anymore” despite the fact that it’s literally active on the LocalFlavor website with an expiration date of 9/6/19 – clearly still valid. Naturally I requested that the server go relay my concern to the manager, fully expecting that they would agree to honor the coupon and I would at the same time acknowledge that they’re not honoring it anymore… of course also recommending that they remove it from the LocalFlavor site if it’s not going to be accepted. Instead, unbelievably the server comes back to tell me that the manager is not accepting the discount and will not honor it, and furthermore will not even come out to my table to discuss. As you can imagine, I was not happy at all about this and made it known in my tip… pretty sad on the manager’s part to effectively take it out on his server’s pocketbook like that. But then again, the server was acting pretty powerless and unapologetic about it as well, so whatever. Ultimately, this was just a garbage exercise in customer service on the part of Ah-So Sushi, and they have lost the chance that I’ll ever come back in the future. Not that I would have been rushing back anyway, as the place is highly unspectacular – in a very old, run-down strip mall, very cheap and old servewear, and most importantly unspectacular sushi. You can do much better at other sushi locations very close by, so don’t make the mistake of wasting your money at Ah-So Sushi. Especially don’t expect for your coupon to be honored. You have been warned!!

The Lost Square – Menu with Prices – 412 Williamson St, Savannah

So we have had many friends rave about one of Savannah’s new rooftop bars. We were downtown and friends invited us to meet them at The Lost Square. On the way to the location one of our friends stated the last time he was there he had bill that was more than expected and turned out that there were drinks on their bill that they had not ordered. We arrived and had several very nice Dogfish Head Sours. Some of the drinks were ordered at the bar and others from the sever working our little seating area. For our final round I went to the bar ordered our drinks and also payed for my tab. So my beers are delivered and then my CC is returned already processed. I then asked for a copy of my itemized receipt which she prints no problem. It’s at this time I notice 2 drinks that I have not ordered that I was already charged for. The Bartender politely corrected the bill. However, she never gave me a copy of the voided cc transaction. When I asked for a copy she had to literally dig in the trash for the transaction receipt. Having never recirece a copy of the original bill I kinda wanted this for my records just in case. I did call over the manager to informed her of what had happened and she was extremely nice and sincerely wanted to hear my issue. I figured the issue was resolved. However, after we left we received a text from our friend who stated he paid part of our bill because we left without doing so. Obviously I’m frustrated by this. It’s a busy bar and mistakes happen easily and I get that. Rule of thumb would be to always ask for an itemized copy of your bill before you allow your cc to be run. Also If you work in a crazy busy bar like this one, please ask the guest to review the bill to ensure that it is accurate. It may be an extra step but how much time did the mistakes take to correct? Otherwise a good experience.

Taqueria y Antojitos Ricos – Menu with Prices – 714 Military Road #281, Brownsville

We have been loyal customers for many years. I have always spoken highly about this taqueria but today I had a very upsetting experience where I was brought a warm Mexican Coke (as if it was outside), I was provided with a cup of ice but the flavor was not good. I asked for a regular coke but from their cooler and they brought it. After we ate I was ready to pay the bill but noticed they did not remove the “warm” Mexican coke. I asked why and the server said the manager said no because I should have refused it upon delivery (I was nice enough to try and drink it with ice and you tell me tough luck? Mind you the bottle came open anyways.) I told the server to tell the manager that is this little insignificant matter worth my loyal business? Sure, the coke is not much but it’s the principle of the matter. She just apologized and said that the manager said no and he is not available. She also told me next time I…..but before she could finish the sentence I told her “there won’t be a next time.” Therefore, today was the last time I will ever go back. How sad that customer service could not be rendered. I guess our regular bill of $60 is nothing to them.

West end bistro – Menu with Prices – 5513 Pershing Ave, St. Louis

While the food was decent and the server did her best, itâ??s obvious this restaurant doesnâ??t have it figured out and is destined to fail. There was a single table of 14 people when we arrived and the rest of the restaurant was vacant. Yet…they sat us at the table next to them. That group was incredibly loud. Our server apologized but it took us standing up and moving ourselves to another table to be able to hear each other. Our orders took so long to prepare that we thought they might be short handed in the kitchen. The server told us that wasnâ??t the case and the slow delivery was due to the large table. It seems odd that a restaurant that is otherwise empty couldnâ??t handle one table. What if three tables of 4 or 5 showed up? At the end of the meal, the server apologized profusely for the incredibly long wait but the manager didnâ??t come over and apologize or comp a meal which youâ??d expect in this circumstance. When the server brought the bill I handed her my credit card. As I went to sign the credit card receipt, I noticed we had been double charged for each of our entrees. Again, an honest mistake for which the server apologized but neither she nor her manager could figure out the credit card machine and had to refund me the difference in cash. It pains me to see what could be a great local addition to the neighborhood run so ineptly that it wonâ??t be here for long.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 4900 W Markham St Rd, Little Rock

Gideon, the supposedly manager, was worthless in trying to correct the order…’bring the chicken back (5 miles) and we will correct. Seriously? I ordered 2 breasts and got two thighs. Was babysitting granddaughters and could not run the bitten into thighs to get the upcharged breasts. ‘sorry, that’s our policy’. Asked for contact info of the General Manager…’sorry I can not give you that’…asked to have the GM to call me…’I can guarantee, he will not call you’. Asked for corporate number…’I don’t have that’.All I wanted was…’Sorry for the mistake, please come by sometime and we will give you the chicken breasts’. my advice…drive 3 more miles to KFC on Markham…better customer service

Tasu Express Asian Grill and Poke – Menu with Prices – 3307 Watkins Rd, Durham

Finally a poke place in this part of Durham Tasu express is a new restaurant from the Shiki sushi owners that offers a wide variety of food from poke bowls to hibachi express style dishes. I love poke, but most of the poke places in Durham are located in or near downtown and not close to my daily travel route. One day while driving home and deciding what to do for dinner I wandered in here seeing it was now open and was extremely happy to see they served poke bowls since I could eat poke most days out of the week. Tasu is a walk in style restaurant where you order at the counter and either pick up your food right there or it’s brought to your table. I ordered the large poke bowl option. There’s the traditional range of poke proteins from salmon, spicy tuna, crab, shrimp, scallops and other proteins. After choosing your bowl size and proteins you pick your toppings and sauces. If you love poke they have the traditional style poke spread for toppings and sauces. They have eel sauce, which I love and was happy to see that they served it here. The large poke bowl is a good sized portion and their prices fit alongside the other poke places in the area. They have an interesting selection of fountain drinks and classic ones too. The service was very friendly and quick and the place was spotless. It’s wonderful to see the Shiniki sushi owners branching out into other places in Durham. I remember when Shiki was a small little sushi place and now it’s massive and takes up half of the Homestead Plaza since they expanded. They know how to run a sushi place. The only thing that might disappoint some people here is that it’s only poke/sushi bowls served here and not any actual sushi rolls, which some might come to expect. I’m eager to try this place again and try other poke combinations or even their hibachi offerings.

Green Works – Menu with Prices – 176-37 Union Tpke, Flushing

So excited to have a Poke spot close by! Usually I’d be taking my chances eating left overs from my lunch at work; but no more 4 hour old poke for me!…yeah not one of my better moments. After my third encounter at Green Works, I think I can give a fair assessment of their Poke offerings. Customer service wise, everyone I’ve come into contact with has been welcoming and pleasant! My first order was a poke burrito which was good, however the fillings could’ve been spread out more. My bf ordered a bowl and his was way more filling. My second order was a bowl, a younger gentleman made it and it was amazing! Perfect portions, well cuts! I was happy. My third order was another bowl, this one not too happy with. Not a lot of fish in this one, definitely not thw same amount as the last bowls. I ordered carrots which I don’t usually do, and let’s just say they must’ve cut up two whole carrots. They must’ve made up for the lack of fish with excess carrots (see pics). I feel as if they may not be using a standard scope for the protein, so regardless of poke type; you’re receiving the same amount of fish. Overall consistency is key when opening a new place. Especially one that has switched hands as frequently as the Green Works location. I will miss Coffee Poke and their waffles but glad actual poke has landed! Three stars as there’s definitely room for improvement. But off to a decent start. Best of luck!

Manpuku Yakiniku Dining – Menu with Prices – 891 Baker St, Costa Mesa

I’ve been here plenty of times, but the last two visits I’ve had is where I draw the line. My main complaint here is the service/bill. On one occasion, I got a dish on my tab that I didn’t even receive/eat. The server that took my order said they ran out of this dish, but I guess she didn’t take it off the tab. Once it was time to pay, another server was so adamant that the dish was brought out and we consumed it. HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO EAT A DISH THAT YOU NEVER BROUGHT OUT BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T HAVE IT AVAILABLE? What pissed me off the most was that this server was so adamant in assuming that we had the dish and she didn’t take no for an answer. Like girl, she wasn’t even the server that was helping us. Smh. I’m not tripping on an order of meat, but it’s the principle of things and how this server decided to handle this situation. I should have taken this experience as a red flag to not come back and dine here. But guess what?! I was stupid enough to come back! This time, our server brought out two dishes of tongue shio that we did not order. I told him that we did not order these dishes and kindly reminded him that we ordered ONE dish of the sashimi. This time he brought out the right dish, but he gave us two orders of the sashimi when I only ordered ONE. When the bill came, we had so many items that we didn’t order on our tab (4 orders of rice, pitchers of beer, extra orders of sashimi, and 2 tongue shio). I was infuriated because there was no transparency between the servers and there was a lot of miscommunication which resulted in incorrect orders and bills. Honestly, the headache from service is not worth it for me to come back here. The food is great, but the icing on top is when I saw two cockroaches on their wall and chair. Definitely a big red flag and not coming back.

Another Broken Egg Cafe – Menu with Prices – 300 Pelham Ave SW Suite A1, Huntsville

The last time we ate here, the waitress charged my card for my table and the table next to me by mistake. So I ended up paying $50 for my meal and $40 for the table next to me without realizing it. When I saw the mistake on my bank account a few days later, I called the restaurant and asked for the manager. The person who answered the phone didn’t want to give me to a manager, and when they finally did, the “manager” I spoke with said she wasn’t authorized to do returns. She told me she would have the manager who can do returns call me immediately. I have never received a phone call and ended up having to dispute the charge through my bank. I was so disappointed to have this experience because the food was amazing. Extremely unprofessional for you to handle a mistake you made like this.

Poke Bowl Plus – Menu with Prices – 615 State St, Madison

I’m so down for the explosion of poke places in Madison, Wisconsin. I was in Hawaii last summer and literally still dream about the abundance of fresh, buttery, flavorful poke that you could find there pretty much any place you went. I’ve not yet made it out to other poke places in Madison but if they’re anything like Poke Plus, I’d say Madison is in pretty good poke hands. This location replaces the old Disco Fries restaurant, which I never entered but walked by every day and was not surprised to see go under because I hardly ever saw anyone in there. I think the location works much better as a poke place – it’s a quick light lunch you can grab to go and the service is quick and efficient. The fish is fresh and the sauces are yummy – probably the only qualm is portions are a bit small for what you pay but it is poke so I’m happy to pay it. I also got their salmon teriyaki too go one day and it was very satisfying – a surprising amount of fish and very flavorful. Definitely will add Poke Plus into my rotation of “i’m on campus and want to have lunch but don’t want to eat at the Union” places.
