I was driving through the area and was craving some pizza and salad. Because it was after 4pm, I wasn’t able to get single slices of pizza but I’m actually really glad because the small sized pizza was totally worth it (looking forward to have leftovers tomorrow). I ordered the small sized cheese pizza with a small Greek salad. I quickly devoured that salad with generous amounts of delicious Feta cheese and still had some room for pizza. It’s amazing to me how fresh, homemade ingredients can transform a simple margarita pizza into a culinary delight! I also loved seeing how Mr. K had supported the local sports team on one of the restaurant’s walls, which was covered with team photos. It’s truly a neighborhood spot that makes you feel instantly at home. Parking is easy as the restaurant is inside of a plaza. I’ll definitely be back!

PICK’S At PLX Menu with Prices 530 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron

I’ve heard such great things about this place and I really wanted to love it. I went with my husband for dinner, and things were off to a great start. They had fantastic grapefruit martinis and the homemade white French dressing on my salad was delicious. However, there was a lot of shredded cheese that in comparison to the salad greens was hard and created an uninviting texture. My husband ordered the steak and red skin potatoes. His steak came out well done, and he ordered it medium. The potatoes were well seasoned, but dry. He ate his meal saying as he can eat well done, and he enjoyed the sear and seasoning on the meat. I ordered the salmon and risotto. There were long stringy pieces of onion in my risotto, which was basically rice with the taste of onions. It was not risotto. There should not be anything stringy in risotto, and it should not be a solid mass like mashed potatoes. The salmon was fishy and tasted rotten. When I told the server, she took it back immediately and apologized. However, I learned another customer had the same complaint, which led me to wonder a few things. First, does the chef taste what is being sent out? Do they feel comfortable serving bad fish, which can lead to serious food poisoning? Did they think the other complaining customer was lying? I ordered the margarita pizza instead of the salmon. It was a cheese pizza, not a margarita pizza. Just a cheese pizza with tomato on it. I’ve had real margarita pizza, and this was not it. Not even close. I did eat it because I was starving, and brought it home to my son with his 17 and will eat anything. So very disappointing. I doubt we will return, unless we just want drinks. I will say our server was very sweet.

Baker and Brewer – Menu with Prices – 94 Stuart St, Charleston

Went to Baker and Brewer last Sunday July 21st. As a big fan of Desanos, I really wanted to like Baker and Brewer. The interior is certainly more welcoming than the old Desano’s restaurant; however, it is very noisy. Started with the wood-fired olives with poblano and garlic. Good sized portion for four people but warm olives are just weird. No one in our group could taste the poblanos? Followed the olives with the peach salad. salad was a nice size for four people. Local bibb lettuce was great. SC peaches were lacking in flavor and cut julienne style so they looked like shredded cheddar cheese. The star of the salad was the pickled red pepper. Not sure why there was cilantro in this salad? Ordered a margherita and a pork trifecta pizza. The pizzas are 12 inch vs Desano’s pizzas which were 16 inch. Desanos pizzas were a little more expensive than the Baker pizzas but 16 inch pizza is almost double the size of a 12 inch pizza. Always loved Desanos pizzas and like Evo pizzas but there was nothing special about these pies. As far as the beer side goes, I have plebeian tastes. The Czech Collab was cloudy and slightly citrusey. Everyone at the table tasted it and no one really liked it. Also had a Joat Bier Belgian IPA which tasted liked most other hopped up IPA’s. The Mexican light was good only in that is a very neutral beer but again I have simple tastes in beer. Spoke with a friend who went to Baker and Brewer with his family on Tuesday July 23rd for dinner. He has always been a fan of Evo but was not impressed. All I can say is the place was busy but I’m not sure why?

Melrose Tavern – Menu with Prices – 2712 Brownsville Rd, Pittsburgh

Upon entering, there’s a certain sophistication you feel while noticing the subtle nuances between the color of the wood paneling and the paint on the walls. Wrapped in sports history, the walls provide a glimpse of Pittsburgh’s greatest sporting moments, including the bars exceptional softball team. There’s a sanguine ambiance permeating through out the bars atmosphere transmitted by the elegance of the patrons.

Thom’s Bread Bakery – Menu with Prices – 113 Butler Ave, Lancaster

Stopped in on a whim. The place was completely empty except the owners. We heard a lot about it so wanted to try a pizza. Menu listed margarita pizza so we ordered a small. The owner said they only have the dough for larges but we did not want a large. My thoughts, cut the dough in half and make two smalls. Well he ended up just doing the large anyway for the same price. Pizza was good. Very bread like instead of the traditional crust but the place is called Toms bread. Our margarita ended up just being plain cheese. I don’t think he actually knows that it’s supposed to be fresh mozzarella and basil. He had us all confused on the drinks as well since he was calling sparkling water, “gas water”. I don’t think he is from around here. Pizza was so so. Maybe is was because we were expecting one thing but got another

1000 Degrees Pizza Salad Wings – Menu with Prices – 237 S Battlefield Blvd ste 14d, Chesapeake

I really enjoyed my first visit here, finally! I took my little brother here for dinner on a Saturday night & it wasn’t crowded at all. When we entered we were helped through the simple process of building your own pizza. He and I split a 10inch, half plain cheese & the other half with my favorite toppings. I prefer a thinner crust, so this was just right. The pizza was very tasty, but not the best I’ve ever had. There was more grease than I would’ve liked to have seen. Still, you can’t beat a custom pizza with unlimited toppings for $9.95. I’ve been to other restaurants with a similar set up, and this was definitely the best one. I also got a side salad which was an awesome deal! I loved being able to choose my own toppings, and it was especially delicious with the shredded mozzarella. I will be coming back frequently simply for the salads. After our meal we went back up to the counter for dessert. He got a cup of the cookies & cream gelato while I had the tiramisu. It was so decadent & fresh! This will be a must-grab for me on future visits too, I’m sure. Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable, quick bite to eat that is fresh & will please even your pickiest eater, this is the place to go.

Basta Pasta – Menu with Prices – 319 Western Ave, Cambridge

i always get a margherita pizza and i might be the only 1 here that doesn’t like tomatos. You might think I’m crazy because i’m writing a review about a pizza, but i do like tomato sauce. Now for the food. About the margherita pizza, if you love cheese like me, then i recommend this pizza to you. Why you ask, because you know a regular cheese pizza? You know when yor eating a cheese pizza and you bite into the cheese and all the cheese comes off, on a margherita pizza, there are spots of cheese through out the pizza and when you bite into the cheese and it comes off, there will be another layer of cheese. If your like me and you don’t like tomatos but you like tomato sauce, beware, sometimes they’ll put a sliced tomato on your pizza. i also got a chicken paresan and i loved it except that they put too much sauce on it.Sooooooooooooo that’s my review, bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rosso Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 120 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh

Sad this place only has one review. The men making the pizzas are straight from Italy. I’m a bit of an oddball because I can’t eat cheese but I love pizza so I order all my pizzas without cheese. These guys didn’t seem to like that idea but with some convincing they decided to make my cheese less pizza… and OMG it was f*cking amazing!!! Obviously it would be better with cheese but I assure you anyone would have loved my pizza. The only thing that sucks is they are mainly open for lunch so no nighttime pizza runs. Either way their pizza is delicious with very fresh ingredients and masterful pizza makers

828 Family Pizzeria Menu with Prices 1854 Hendersonville Rd D, Asheville

I’m the Rush Limbaugh of pizza (the comparison goes only that far) in that I get frustrated when a slice looks different than what I’m used to. I don’t want fancy pizza. It makes me angry. I want what I’m used to. What I’m used to is a simple, somewhat greasy, NY-style slice that I can fold and stuff into my face. Listen… if you can fold a slice and a little grease starts to pool in the middle of the fold… you’ve got a good one. That’s what I find when I eat at 828 Pizza. Beautifully made NY-style pizza. Save your goat cheese and kale (though they actually have goat cheese and you should try it if you like it). This bad boy wants that good simple stuff. They’ve got this pizza curmudgeons love. Go to 828 Pizza.

Bella Gusto Urban Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – Warner Plaza, 1964 N Alma School Rd #1, Chandler

There are very few pizzas that meet my taste. In fact there is a local pizza restaurant with a world famous pizza chef and I’ve had his pizza numerous times….this pizza beats it! The best pizza I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten it countless times, is Pizzeria Mozza located in LA and in Newport Beach and this pizza may rival that one. The crust was near perfection, so tender that I ate every last bite. Warning, if your idea of a perfect pizza is lots of mass produced cheese and pepperoni, you may not like this pizza. The toppings are high quality, fine cheese, sausage that tastes homemade, soprasetta, and just the right amount. I didn’t sample any of the other Italian dishes but the owner Matt worked under Mario Batali at a few of his restaurants and after chatting with him about his experience, I’m excited to try the other offerings. I just don’t know if I can resist the urge to have the pizza when I walk through the door. I haven’t even mentioned the “specials” that they offer. For example, we happened to be there on Wednesday night and it was $10 pizza night. Thursdays have 1/2 price bottle wine and many other great specials not to mention happy hour specials. If you are a “foodie” and want a great pizza fix, give this place a try.

Los Potrillos Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 10722 NW Lakeshore Ave, Vancouver

I held off on writing this for almost a week – thinking about exactly how it went down because I didn’t want to write something in the heat of the moment. We ended up here after driving by & even visiting some places in the same strip mall the past several months. It was extremely spacious and well decorated. It was far from busy (around noon on a Sunday) but we sat in the bar area since our girls ditched us after church. Our waiter brought over menus & then chips & Salad with a plate of “white cabbage”….I was like what is this & he salad it was their version of pico de gao….I love love love pico & after trying several bites (since it’s hard to put food to waste) I didn’t care for it at all. The drink menu is not expansive & I wanted a small but the waiter talked me into getting a size up for just a few more cents. I ended up with a blended peach & strawberry margarita which to be honest was mediocre. My husband ordered the French Margarita & after trying his, it was probably the worst margarita flavor combination I have ever had in my life. We ordered staple items that are hard to mess up – taco salad for me & beef nachos for him. The menu is expansive however the pricing is high – compared to other local Mexican restaurants in the area. The taco salad that was delivered had wonderful presentation but that was it. The lettuce ratio was way higher than it should have been, the taco shell was very bland, there was no diced onions, & the meat (my favorite part of a taco salad) was not proportionate at all but the flavor of the beef was the worse – it was “sweet” and it was way sweet…I’ve never had “sweet” taco meat beef & I never ever want to again. I didn’t need to have my husband try it because it was the same meat in his nachos. We did what we could to eat a majority of the food but ended up having the waiter take it away (which he never asked why) – which was a little discerning. Our bill arrived & it was almost $50. 2 drinks, taco salad & beef nachos….I felt like I had been taken advantage of & not in a good way. I’ve read the reviews prior but wanted to try local & this place (which is a chain) has a very very very long way to go if it wants to complete with the caliber of Mexican restaurants in Vancouver…But give it a try if you want…

Bekâ??s Nizza Pizza Menu with Prices 965 W Lamar Blvd, Arlington

I came here with a friend for the first time and we ordered 2 single slices each and 2 different salads. It was enough for both of us since the slices are huge. Pizza slices: supreme, cheese, veggie lover(2) Salad: house salad and Nizza salad What I can say about our first experience is this: -interior was very cute -owner is kind -price was very affordable-slices we’re big, NY style -salad had amazing house vinaigrette but I would go with the house salad-it has more variety. The Nizza salad had a whole lot of mushrooms and cheese -store has a lot of delivery/Togo orders 3stars: -supreme pizza did not taste like a supreme. It was salty and dry -salad was a little disappointing but I expected a lot more variety in the salad -I’ve tasted better pizza for the same price -I wouldn’t be back if I craved pizza

First Class Pizza – Menu with Prices – 6420 Irvine Blvd, Irvine

I used to live in this area a few years ago and I remember First Class Pizza as being super greasy and not very good. Well, fast forward to now and the pizza I ate here was delicious. I’m not sure if anything changed, but I’m with it now. We ordered a large salad to accompany the pizza and I was very impressed. Normally salads at pizza places are an after thought. Not here. The lettuce was fresh and the salad was beautifully dressed with toppings. Definitely not what I was expecting. The beer list is dope and they even have really good bottles available. My only complaint was that the service was kinda slow. I would have thought they’d drop off the salad first, but they didn’t bring it until after they dropped off the pizza. It’s always good when your local pizza spot is good.
