Berkeley?s best kept secret. Off the beaten path, you need to ring the bell to this one-time private club to get in. Now it?s a gem with amazing staff and even better drinks.

Uncle Roy’s Bar-B-Q – Menu with Prices – 201 S Lumpkin Rd, Columbus

It’s off the beaten path but a must stop and try. I had to try almost everything due to the prices. 2 chopped pork sandwiches for $5 which are the standard hamburger size but was very tasty. Sausages were $2 with grilled bell peppers and onions and of course there was more to choose from. On Sunday they even have a Soul Food menu. My order of baked beans were larger than the typical single serving. With these prices you can feed your entire family. There is a limited amount of seating so if you have a group plan to order to go. The staff was super friendly and showed true southern hospitality. The restaurant was clean but easy to miss if depending on the direction you arrive. I plan to visit again and try the Sunday menu. I also have a slice of homemade red velvet cake I can’t wait to try but I’m sure it will be phenomenal too.

Harrisburg Maennerchor – Menu with Prices – 221 North St, Harrisburg

Harrisburg’s oldest, private social club, it’s fun to stop down and see everyone. The drinks prices are pretty much unbeatable and I always say it might take you 10 minutes to get a drink when you first walk in, but that’s because you’re too busy saying hello to everyone rather than slow service. It is a private club, but those interested in membership can usually call or e-mail and get a tour, which often results in an offer to be sponsored. It can get a little smokey, but you can leave your coat in the coat closet by the front door and the Game Room tends to be less smokey than the bar. The Cathedral Room in the former sanctuary (the clubhouse used to be a church) is a really neat venue for parties. All in all, it’s a very charming part of Harrisburg’s history and a great place to hang out.

The Faculty Club Menu with Prices Minor Ln, Berkeley

The first thing to understand is that the Kerr Dining Room is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays (except for holidays and for a couple of weeks during the campus winter break). True, it’s in the Faculty Club, but you don’t have to be a faculty member, a Club member or a friend of anyone in particular to have a meal in the Kerr. All you need is a credit card or cash. The room is steeped in history and is pretty swanky even for breakfast: there are white table clothes, nice dishes and utensils, space between tables, servers in uniform. It’s also totally unbuttoned, and there’s no real dress code other than not looking like you just came out of the shower or the nearby Hearst pool. The second thing to understand is that I’m kind of a fan of the Faculty Club and can’t pretend to believe that the Kerr Dining Room is for everyone. Still, I am confident that you’ll be happy if you stop by. A day in the life of the Kerr Dining Room: Breakfasts (7:30–10AM) are great! I come every week or two with a large group and love sitting in this historic room that has beautiful light streaming in and overlooks the “Faculty Glade,” a lovely expanse of lawn on the Berkeley campus. The Club has a leisurely pace at this time of day. At adjacent tables, you’re likely to see groups of Berkeley faculty members, faculty visitors from other universities, campus police officers and other staff members, the Chancellor or other administrators, and sometimes even the Mayor of Berkeley. Students come as well! Order from the menu and you’ll get a hearty and copious meal at the start of your day. Lunches are a bit more hectic; often every table is taken. (Fortunately, you can reserve in advance.) The diners are most typically faculty members and administrators. You can see the current lunch menu from http://www.berkeleyfacultyclub.com . Dinners are interesting because the dining room can be very busy or totally chill. Sometimes there’s a big crowd because of an event in the Club itself or elsewhere on campus. Quite often there are noteworthy specials — for example, on the second Tuesday of each month there’s a prime rib special and a “no corkage fee” policy. There are fish nights, paella nights, taco nights. Check out the web site to see what’s going on. On the rare Berkeley evening that’s actually warm, you can eat your dinner outdoors on the deck — this is an absolute treat. Kenneth R. says “check it out”!

Kc’s Nashville Nights Menu with Prices 88 W Wilbeth Rd, Akron

Came here a few weekends ago to meet some friends, we’ve always heard about it, but it’s a little off the beaten path for us so we have never committed to coming, It’s a smaller bar, but very fun, the bartenders are fast, prices are normal if not a little cheaper than anywhere else you go, and the atmosphere was great. I met several “regulars” and they were super nice. We will definitely go back to see another band and hang out!

Strawberry South – Menu with Prices – 48 S 7th St, Kansas City

I have been to this private club twice, once on a pub crawl and once with a member. I don’t know how to become a member and don’t plan to find out. Because it’s a private club smoking is allowed. Hey, that’s cool for them but not for me. After I quit so many years ago now I can’t be around smoke for longer than 10 minutes. The bartender has been nice each time I have been in. The customers are more like “what the heck?”. I’m ordering a Miller Lite and Jameson and they’re drinking Bud – not Bud Light – a true non light Budweiser and no one really has shots. I have been told it’s like the old beer bars of KCK when the alcohol of choice was beer only. If you’re a smoker and looking for a bar to drink and smoke in – this is your place. If you can get a membership card.

Scott’s BBQ Menu with Prices 4007 Danielsville Rd, Athens

Had seen Scott’s featured on a show on the SEC Network and wanted to give it a try. Sure glad we did. Little off the beaten path, about 5 miles or so outside of Athens. The plain looking building, housed some terrific food with personal service. When we entered, it looked like a no-frills diner on the inside with 8 or so stools at a bar, and a few tables on either side. We took our seats at the bar and was greeted by a nice lady, who took our dine-in order. Ordered a rib plate, which came with 3 large pork ribs along with two sides, in this case, chose the collard greens and cole slaw. The ribs came with the choice of hot or mild sauce. The ribs were large and meaty, and the hot sauce was a perfect compliment to the flavor of the meat. A large piece of cornbread also came with the meal. As we started eating, a large jar of homemade chow-chow was also placed before us, and then a bowl of hash each was added to this feast. Throughout the meal, conversation with the nice lady made this a five-star experience. Before we paid and left, we were asked to sign the guest book and wish that we had brought a cap to add to the collection that hung around the wall, just below the ceiling.Prices were well below what they should have been for such fine food and the quantity served. Hope others see this review and take advantage of this off the beaten path gem.

Shaker Ridge Country Club Menu with Prices 802 Albany Shaker Rd, Albany

I have had the opportunity to perform for multiple events at Shaker Ridge Country Club and I have to say they have ALWAYS been great experiences. The food provided by 2Shea Catering is mouthwatering and very nicely presented. The atmosphere is always a great. I have done weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and private parties at this venue, each and everyone have been wonderful affairs. The staff is friendly and helpful. Always willing to do that little extra to make sure that you are more than happy. The views around the club still hold that vintage look with a modern flair. The grand staircase and entrance will provide for some unique and stunning photos. If you are looking for a venue for your event that is intimate and has a location close to just about everything, put Shaker Ridge Country Club on your list of places to see.

Kenwood Lane Grille – Menu with Prices – 12791 Kenwood Ln # B1, Fort Myers

Had dinner with my sister here before attendinig the theater. Small estaurant (13 tables) located well off the beaten path. You would never stumble onto it. They must rely on word of mouth. Diverse menu. Moderate pricing. All entees include choice of soup or salad and also include two sides. Excellent service by the staff. But the food is only so-so. We started with house salad. Cold, crisp nice mixture of greens. Not enough dressing on it to tell what kind of dresing it was. Basket of tasty hot rolls also provided. My sister had Moroccan chicken which she enjoyed. Right size portion. Nice presentation. I chose the classic ribeye. It was 11 oz for $29. But it was an unremarkable cut of meat, kind of like what you get at Longhorn Steakhouse. It was cooked perfectly for me but lacked any kind of seasoning. The sides were mixed vegetables– carrots (not cooked enough), asperagus (good) and mini roasted bell peppers (tasty) –and twice baked potatoes which I think were not homemade and were only average. For dessert we split some sort of chocolate cake tower with marscaone cheese inside. Too big for one person to eat. It tasted like it was a few days old — dry. So will I go back? Probably not, but my sister has been a few times and likes the place. I think there are better choices.

AxeVentures Menu with Prices 2566 Telegraph Ave Suite D, Berkeley

Axe throwing seems to be the new thing to do nowadays and I was so excited when I saw that AxeVentures was opening up a location near me. My friends and I decided to do a quadruple date. Making reservations online was a breeze. I would definitely recommend getting there early to look for parking (you know how it is in Berkeley) to take advantage of your full time slot. Of course our chronically late friend was running behind schedule, but good thing sessions are 1.5 hours long, so we still had plenty of time to play by the time she arrived. We got to share three lanes among eight people. The staff coached us on the do’s and don’ts and then assisted each of us with our first throws to give us tips on form. Like many others sports and activities, make sure to follow through with your movements. Most of the girls were feeling a bit discouraged when they couldn’t get the ax to stick, but after awhile they started getting a hang of it, so just keep practicing! Five points for bullseye, three points for the middle ring, and one point for the outer ring. Things got more exciting once we started playing one of the games. We played Countdown or at least that’s what I think it was called and it was so much fun, because everyone got pretty competitive. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. Don’t forget to wear closed toe shoes. Also, make sure to wear layers because you’ll get warm. I got super sweaty and my back was even a bit sore the next day. Can’t wait to go again!

Chevy Chase Country Club – Menu with Prices – 3067 E Chevy Chase Dr, Glendale

What a surprise this was! A very nice little bar area, nice people working. And a truly impressive food and drink menu to boot. The house burger was very impressive and delicious, as were my boys’ BLT sandwiches. The buffalo fries were a bit meh, mostly because it was an uninspired squirt of sauce and a sprinkle of blue cheese over very mediocre fries. Some great choices on the beer tap and a nice selection of drinks over all, and our cocktail was very well made. All accompanied with the gorgeous view of the golf course. So one big strike is the smoking issue. Its a private club, so surely that’s why the golfers, and apparently just guys sitting around, can enjoy their cigars at their leisure, despite it being a restaurant, open to the public. It was annoying and we moved inside. Really too bad because it was so wonderful outside. But, again, its probably the private club aspect of the place, so not holding this against them. The prices are higher that you might like but some things were worth it. The burger was worth $18. It was. Not any more, but I’d order that again. If the buffalo fries had not come with the burger, they would have been $6, I believe. It might sound odd, but they were not even worth that. BUT… the positives do outweigh the negative. We’ll be back for sure.

Chalu Burger – Menu with Prices – 3810 E Saunders St, Laredo

Chalu Burger has without a doubt the best flour tortillas in town. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path and parking can be difficult due to a fanatical following but it is well worth a trip. All breakfast orders are made upon demand, you won’t find stale eggs that have been sitting for hours here. Quality and freshness does have its price however as orders do take a bit to be cooked during peak hours. All in all very good food.

Copa Rocka Cantina – Menu with Prices – 3010 Sands Dr, Greensboro

Copa Rocka is a great strip club I defiantly recommend for everyone to come. They have amazing staff that protect the public. They monitor their crowd and donâ??t allow customers to get too intoxicated. I have yet to see violence in this club. They have attractive dancers! You will have amazing girls to choose from here and the prices are reasonable. The building is elegant, the crowd is sophisticated and business like. They donâ??t let just anyone walk in unless your dressed appropriate. Staff will always take great care of you. I love this place !
