Sometimes the best restaurant experiences are with the ones who – at first glance – don’t seem like much. Morazan is just this type of place. Located in the very back of the Bakerview Square complex, Morazan is not easy to find and is (most likely) operating primarily via word-of-mouth. So there’s a reason it’s survived so long without much advertising and almost zero social media presence: IT’S GOOD. I mean, like REALLY good! I arrived with a Yelpy friend during the lunch hour, and this little spot was already filling up. We ordered at the counter, where the three-item menu (1-Papusas, 2-Sandwich, 3-Chicken plate) is posted on the wall. The lovely owner/operators greeted us, took our orders, cooked, and delivered our sandwiches in a flash. So…I gotta tell you about this sandwich. Served in a crunch French-style roll, this baby was layered with goodness. First, there was the chicken layer. Cooked in what I presume is a traditional Salvadoran way, the meat was fall-apart tender and bathed in a zippy (but not too spicy) sauce. This giant sandwich was adorned with impossibly fresh veggies making it not only fairly healthy, but quite picturesque. And, most importantly, it was delicious. Like, I-gotta-come-back-soon-and-get-another-one delicious. Morazan isn’t the most stylish restaurant around, but what it lacks in coolness it makes up for in heart. The owners are delightful and you can tell they take a lot of pride in their business and their food. Next time I’m gonna save up my appetite and order the chicken plate!

Blacksmoke BBQ & Grill – Menu with Prices – 2121 Northwest Hwy Suite 100, Garland

This bbq is delicious! I went here GOT THE FOOD TO GO and the wait wasn’t bad ay all. The first thing you smell when you walk in is delicious Smokey BBQ. I ordered the 3 meat plate, I got brisket, chicken and sausage! Let me start with the chicken. Man that chicken was the most tender and juicy piece of BBQ’d meat I have ever tasted. It’s fall off the bone tender! And idk if they smoke their meats or whatever hit it was perfectly seasoned and everything. Next let’s discuss the brisket. First and foremost, the two slices I got were huge! I swear it was like eating a rib without the bone ! I will get into the ribs later. But that. Eisner has the smokehouse flavor too. Whatever they do to that is amazing. Next the sausage was peppered I believe. Smokey and savory with every ju us and tender bite. My girl got the ribs and brisket, them ribs were amazing! Smokey, fall of the bone tender, sweet sand savory. For sides she had macaroni and green beans both of which I cannot recreate or describe how delicious it is. We got dessert too. I got the peach cobbler with a side of ice cream and she got the banana pudding. That review will come later as I must to go celebrate my birthday!! This was the best BBQ I have ever had. STAY TOONED FOR MY OTHER REVIEW OF THE DESSERTS COMING SOON.. sorry there are no octubres, it was too delicious. Will post pics next time as I am 100% positive I will be going back!!

Falafel Café Menu with Prices 401 19th St S #100, Birmingham

This is a fairly new place about a block from UAB, a great place to grab a quick lunch or some food to go on the way home. The atmosphere: Not a big place, but has a nice feel to it and is kept very clean. They have about 10 tables inside, and a service bar where you order. The food: I’ve been to many places similar to this in California, and it’s about time we get one in Birmingham. Everything we had here was absolutely delicious. We had the gyro sandwich (gyro + pita + bunch of toppings from the available list) and the chicken shawarma plate (rice + chicken shawarma + hummus with lemon sauce on top + lots of toppings). I most highly recommend the chicken shawarma, the meat was nice and tender and very flavorful. Out of the toppings list I highly recommend trying the chopped salad, Jerusalem salad, red cabbage salad, tahini sauce, pickles, shatta (hot sauce). Just to warn ya, the shatta hot sauce is pretty spicy, but if you enjoy spicy food it’s a great addition. The great thing about this place is you can try as many of the toppings as you want, all included in the price of the sandwich/plate. They additionally have a cooler full of drinks that you shouldn’t miss out on, I highly recommend trying the “Vimto” drink. Price: Very reasonable. For the gyro sandwich we paid $7.49 and for the chicken shawarma plate we paid $9.49. They have very generous portion sizes, and you definitely get your money’s worth. Even more so with the plate options. Service: The workers behind the food bar are very nice, and will take the time to walk you through menu options and give recommendations.

Pita Street – Menu with Prices – 11400 Fourth St #104, Rancho Cucamonga

Wow! Our entire food tasted amazing. Paneer kabob plate: THE BEST. It was everyone’s favorite. I would totally recommend this for anyone who is vegetarian. The paneer was not oily or greasy, it was cooked perfectly. Falafel plate: One of the best falafel I’ve had. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. They fried it perfectly. Very flavorful. Chicken shawarma plate: Tender and juicy. Lots of flavor. The chicken was cooked crispy but was still juicy and tender. Loved this! Chicken kabob plate: Yum!! Huge pieces of flavorful chicken. The portion is great and very filling. The basmati rice that came with all the plates WAS THE BEST. The rice had so much flavor and was melting in our mouths. We all agreed the rice in the meal was a huge bonus. The hummus in the plates was smooth, creamy, and did not taste bitter or overwhelming. I Best for last: The PITA BREAD!! I have had so many different places and the pita bread here was the softest and most fresh tasting. It tasted buttery and melts in your mouth. Garlic sauce: smooth and perfectly flavored. Buttery and great to dip meat in. Customer service from the older man was inviting and I truly appreciated his hospitality. Was impressed with the food! Would recommend this plate 10/10.

Soul Cal Smokehouse – Menu with Prices – 38 W Victoria St, Santa Barbara

Met some friends at the SB public market for dinner Wednesday night, and decided to eat here. I’m a sucker for smoked bbq, and been wanting to try this place out. I ordered a half pound of smoked baby back ribs, and 20 wings (Wing Wednesday special, $1 per wing) spoke with one of the workers there, and he said they use oak to smoke their meats. He also said that they brine the wings first then smoke them. As an amateur bbq smoker myself, I was excited to try the goods! First up, the baby back ribs. The meat was very tender, one bite and fall off the bone kind of ribs. They dont sauce the ribs up, and have them offered on the side. I chose the spicy bbq and coffee bbq sauces, both were good, but I preferred au natural for the ribs, can get a better taste and smoke flavor, and the ribs didnt disappoint. The smoke wasnt overwhelming, but present. The meat had a good meat/fat ratio which made it tender and succulent. Overall, They were tasty! The only knock I’d have to point out, was that they weren’t hot(temp) enough and was just warm. The wings. Wow. Very delicious and on wednesdays, just $1 per wing! As usual, I opted to have the sauce on the side and glad I went that route! These wings had a slight crisp to it, not too fried crispy, but still a very slight crunch to it. The meat was tender, juicy and HOT(temp) I waited a few mins before I could touch them. The wing sauce on the side was ok, tasted more on the spicier side, and a good compliment to the wings. I ate more than half the wings dry, with no sauce. Overall, I’m Pretty stoked to have this place near my house, and will be back next wednesday for these delicious wings!

Herb?s Rib Shack – Menu with Prices – 186 Windy Hill Rd, Marietta

Grill on point! Customer service on point! As soon as you walk in sample handed to you on a napkin. Yes! I ordered a chicken sandwich, dark meat & a rib plate. Chicken skin crunchy & seasoned on point! Meat tender & juicy. I ate both pieces. I’m not a sauce fan & the sauce was mediocre at best. Thick & rich but lacking flavor nuances. The rib platter. The meat juicey & fat crispy and wonderful. I saved it for my son & he’s in love. The sides, potato salad & baked beans, were store bought & tasted like it. Hence the three stars. That’s just plain lazy. They do meat extremely well though & know their technique. They also season the meat before grilling and that makes for a grill master! I’ll skip the sides. Dessert was plentiful and a separate side business in the lobby. The lobby was clean. The little ladies selling were charming. Get the que, skip th

Biryani & Co. – Menu with Prices – 9406 S Texas 6, Houston

Best Indian food we’ve had in Alief! Came here for a family dinner last night, and was truly impressed with each dish- and we ordered A LOT. Every item was flavorful, memorable, and different. You could tell the chef knew what they were doing because there was something unique about each bite. If you don’t want to read the whole review here is what you need to know- Great service, incredible food, high quality ingredients. Just thinking about this meal from last night is making me hungry! The food is authentic and spicy, so if that’s not your thing be sure to order mild- for us we love spicy! We ordered spicy appetizers; Cut Mirichi and Guntur Mirapakodi. The Guntur Mirapakodi was the table’s favorite dish of the night! Just the right amount of heat! Loaded with tumeric. We loved it! I don’t think I’ve ever seen this dish at another restaurant. I will definitely be coming back for this. Delicious! For our main dishes we got Veg Chettinad, Gutti Vankaya Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala. Veg Chittinad was a mixed vegetable dish in a coconut milk curry. Gutti Vankaya Curry is sesame and peanut based paste with eggplant. It was nutty and savory. I’ve had this at other restaurants, but this was the best version I’ve had. You could taste the individual elements and as they came together to make a whole bite. Definitely recommend. Chicken Tikka Masala is always a crowd pleaser. We got this one mild, and it balanced out the heat from some of the other dishes. The chicken was incredibly tender, white meat chicken. Great dish! Of course Biryani & Co has several different types of biryani. We got the Vijayawada Special Boneless Chicken Biryani which was fantastic. Probably one of the best Biryanis I’ve had my entire life. Lots of fragrance in the dish and the meat was super tender. Lastly, we got the weekend special, Raju Gari Goat Pulav. In reading about the dish on the menu, I was worried it was going to be too similar to goat biryani, but it was totally different. Glad we got it because none of us had ever tried this anywhere else. Goat was perfectly cooked and the spice was perfect. Oh and the garlic naan was cooked to perfection! Super fresh and perfect for getting every last drop of curry or sauce off the plate. We even tried some dessert. A pineapple Double Ka Meetha. A little something sweet after all that spice was perfect. Truly a fantastic meal! We will 100% be going back. Hopefully VERY soon!

9 Delicacies – Menu with Prices – 520 128th St SW B-8, Everett

9 Delicacies is extremely good. We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Pork Belly Plate with the Spicy Cucumber Salad and House-Made Kimchi. The Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich was a crispy, juicy, saucy, messy piece of goodness on a bun. The chicken was very crispy, but very moist. The sauce was sweet. The combination of the crispy textures, sweetness of the sauce, and the amount of chicken created a nice Unami-bomb (and messy) of a sandwich. The Pork Belly Plate was extremely good as well. There was a decent amount of Pork Belly – enough to share between two people (with the sandwich) and not feel like I missed out. I could’ve done with the Pork Belly being a little more fattier and render, but the flavor was there. The rice was very light and aromatic – the coconut was a really nice flavor profile that made the rice unique. The Spicy Cucumber Salad was very good. It had a nice spice to it and had a great freshness and snap as well. It was the perfect compliment to the salty, fatty pork and meaty and messy sandwich. The Kimchi was very good too. It had a nice snap/crunch, wasn’t too sour, wasn’t too sweet – it was very fresh. Good. We ordered a Spicy Cucumber Salad to go. It was a bit disappointing because 1) they didn’t completely fill up the container and 2) as the salad set it became more condensed, so by the time we got home only about 60 percent of the container was full. I wish they would’ve packed it more – but oh well. Really good food. I’ll definitely be back. It almost feels an Asian/Korean “Meat & Bread.”

VeGreen Vegetarian Fusion Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3780 Old Norcross Rd #106, Duluth

If you think this is your run of the mill vegan meat substitute restaurant, you are mistaken! This is a real restaurant with very real, delicious vegan food. We visited for lunch. Parking is ample. The restaurant is very clean and modern. They have a beautiful mural on the back wall that fits well with the atmosphere of the restaurant. Our original server was good, but one of our guests that was gluten free and made a special request for a sauce and the server advised that it could not be accommodated. She did however answer questions that we had about the menu. The manager was also walking around greeting tables, so we asked if the sauce request could be accommodated and he indicated that it would be no problem. We ordered the set lunch portions of -Sesame Chicken ($8.50) -General Tso’s Chicken ($8.50) -Pad Thai ($8.50) The food is excellent. Each plate was served with soup and spring roll. I chose seaweed soup which was flavorful, but light. The vegan meat that is used has the texture and consistency of chicken. The taste is almost spot on with chicken, and even though you may have your suspicion that it isn’t chicken, it still tastes absolutely delicious. After leaving I was so surprised at how light and energized I felt as compared to eating traditional non vegan versions of the same.

Flying with Jerome – Menu with Prices – 1469 S Belcher Rd, Clearwater

Perhaps one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Our group tried a little of everything. The beef bourginon was superb. Meat fell apart so tender and the flavor of the wine was present but not overwhelming. Had it served with Au Gratin potatoes and they were delicious. We also had the duck, which was served with expertly cooked vegetables and a nice honey rosemary sauce. Another of us also got the Carbo Pasta. Now this was supremely rich and delicious, everyone just had to keep eating more from it because it was so delicious. As far as non-red sauces go, it’s the best pasta I’ve ever tasted. Now for dessert. They prepare a beautiful variety of pastries daily, and you can tell they are not only made from scratch, but also with the most fresh and high quality ingredients. They are all delicious and bursting with fresh flavors, especially the fruit ones. I’ll be coming back here again and again. And oh by the way, such a lovely and delicious meal won’t cost you as much as you think it would! Very reasonable.

Ono Hawaiian BBQ – Menu with Prices – 8480 N Friant Rd Suite 104, Fresno

My husband and I tried this place for the first time yesterday. It was late afternoon on a Sunday. We were the only people for a good 10minutes then a good dozen more people came rolling through. The girls at the register were pretty cordial. I was thankful it was pretty empty because the seating seems like it would have been pretty tight if it were more busy. The place itself was clean. The atmosphere/the vibe didn’t really feel like I was stepping into Hawaii. It just felt like a typical fast food joint but that’s completely okay. I love the location, everything is new and updated. There’s also tons of other fast food restaurants to try. It’s almost directly across from Woodward park and just down the street from river park. I ordered a plate with 2 entrees, fire chicken and chicken katsu which came with salad and rice. The food took some time to be ready but it was great because it tasted fresh. The portions of rice and salad were huge. The portion of fire chicken was pretty generous. The portion of chicken katsu seemed slightly small. I definitely wasn’t able to eat all the rice or salad. The food was delicious. The chicken Katsu was great, nice and crunchy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I enjoyed it dipped in the Katsu sauce. The fire chicken was good but it was pretty spicy and I had to dip it in teriyaki sauce to really get some good flavor going in my mouth. The rice was soft and tender. The salad with the dressing was nice and flavorful. Crisp and crunchy and sweet and tangy. Overall I enjoyed my meal, if I return I will try something else in place of the fire chicken but I will order chicken katsu again. My husband ordered the Hawaiian bbq mix plate. He loved it, he poured teriyaki and Katsu sauce all over it and thoroughly enjoyed his meal. It’s definitley a meat lovers plate. We were satisfied with our experience here. Looking forward to trying some different food items next time.

The Port Of Peri Peri – Menu with Prices – 3283 Walnut Ave, Fremont

As someone who has always wanted to go to Nandos (but has never been), I was pretty excited to see this restaurant pop up in Fremont that serves similar things – Chicken and peri peri sauce. I was in the area for an optometrist appointment and found this place on Yelp. I’ve lived in Fremont for 23 years and was wondering when a restaurant like this would open where you can get good protein (chicken) and a side of rice AND also be a order at the counter and sit down type of restaurant. My girlfriend and I ordered the All For One platter with mild sauce (1/2 chicken plus 3 wings & a side) to share. Got 2 orders of Cassava Fries as the side Portions: Chicken was bone in so there wasn’t as much meat as I wanted. Fries are on the smaller side in small side bowl but they are very thick. Wings are small but definitely pack flavor. I have a big appetite so I probably could have ate more chicken since I shared the platter with my girlfriend. So if you are hungry and have two people, maybe opt for something more than the All For One Platter. Taste: The chicken wasn’t dry, especially if you get it with sauce. The 1/2 chicken came with white and dark meat. The dark meat wasn’t dry at all, and even the white meat was cooked well. The peri peri sauce had a slight tang to it but was still slightly spicy and sweet. It was delicious in my opinion. They also had bottles of the peri peri sauce on the side counter that you could bring to your table. There was also a white sauce bottle which was some garlic sauce but it tasted a little like ranch. What I did was mix both the white sauce and orange sauce and it was delicious, dunking my chicken and fries into it. Wings were great, and again dunking it in the white garlic sauce and the peri peri made them even better. Cassava fries were a great alternative to regular fries. They are a bit dry but were salted nicely and fried well, and along with the sauce you don’t notice the dryness at all. I would gladly get the cassava fries again if I wanted to skip out on the carbs from regular potato fries. Verdict: If I still lived in Fremont, I would come here at least once a week! Next time I would have to try the tenders and rice combo since I’m not the biggest fan of bone-in chicken (but it was still tasty here).

HAJU Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 175 Massachusetts Ave, Boston

This is my favorite Korean restaurant. I love everything here. I usually get the Tteokbokki & its so good its sweet and spicy with ramen noodles, rice cake & tofu topped with cheese. Its a shareable plate. Spicy Tofu Soup (thats not the name but its something like that) it’s good for a cold day & it comes with rice although it is quite spicy its served on a clay pot and mixes well with everything else, bulgogi which is a marinated meat is amazing & very flavorful & good texture served in a clay pot. Bibimbap is like fried rice served with your choice of meat i recommend beef & served in a clay pot, its great with the bulgogi. The service is exceptional & extremely nice. Parking is not the easiest but not too hard, i always fine parking in the front. Its on a busy street. The only thing I dislike is the bathroom, its gross for a restaurant & should be cleaned, its dirty and smells gross. Terrible 1 – Excellent 10 Service – 10 Food – 10 Wait Time for Food – 10 Hygiene – 8 (Everything good except for bathroom) Presentation – 8 Parking – 7 Environment – 7
