If you find yourself in Boca looking for some good wet style BBQ then this is s great spot. I have eaten here twice & both experiences were consistant. The lot out front is shared by several other places so parking might be a bit tough during busy hours. When you walk in, the restaurant is split down the middle with the kitchen being in the center. For drinks, sodas are sold by the can so keep that in mind. Menu wise, there are the traditional BBQ items to choose from. The corn bread is interesting as I believe it is grilled slightly. Was not my style, but to each their own. The brisket is great & the pulled pork is pretty good. They serve massive amounts of waffle fries so keep that in mind as one side is usually large enough to share with others. The fries did need salt. You will most likely have leftovers so plan to take some home. Ideally, I’d prefer fountain sodas with free refills, & the bread served with the food to be a stronger Texas Toast so it didn’t just turn into a soggy mess under the meat. Other than that, I had no real complaints. The servers were nice & the food wasn’t ridiculously overpriced. Factor in for about $20-$25 per person when you go.

FORTY ACRES AND A MULE – Menu with Prices – 1800 Dixie Hwy, Louisville

Hole in the wall Soul food place out on Dixie. I was excited about this place and I got to say I was let down. Matter of fact I was practically salivating when I took my “yelp pic” of my food I ordered. But it was all a down hill ride. The saying can’t judge a book by its cover works both ways. And this place represents that. First immediate thing that met my displeasure was the place is strictly take out. Despite having the size to place a table or two, they do not. You walk in a large room and all the food and one worker (who took 5 min to come from the back) are protected behind bullet proof glass. The second displeasure is that they only do 20 oz bottled beverages. No fountain drinks which means no free refills. My biggest pet peeve is when a place charges restaurant prices and serves big portions of food but don’t want to have fountain sodas. So I order my meal. The rib dinner which came with two sides. I also got a piece of marble cake for $3. And this where I thought things would get better. It looked great. As mentioned earlier I was practically watering at the mouth. This was gonna make up for my other two pet peeves being triggered. But no. Let down again. The ribs were so dry and hard to chew. I literally almost choked 3-4 times before throwing away what I would say is over 65 percent of the ribs. The ribs also has a very sweet tasting sauce which isn’t my preference. The macaroni was cold. The baked beans were actually really good. So props there. The cake was just ok. Not really worth $3 but glad i got because i would have been still hungry since my ribs weren’t edible. This place had potential. But I likely won’t ever go back. Bad customer service, no dine in (even most takeout places at least have 1 table go sit at), no refills and food that underwhelmed. If your in that area and looking for “soul food” I’d recommend going a few minutes down the road to Franco’s (also located on Dixie) or head up 26th to broadway and get Angie’s home cooking. Both places have dine in, fountain sodas and much better food.

Cherish Farm Fresh Eatery – Menu with Prices – 2551 W Queen Creek Rd Suite 4, Chandler

Cherish has been on my list for awhile, and I finally had the chance to stop in for lunch. First, the place is adorable inside. Bright, inviting, and well decorated. You go up and order at the counter, then get a number and find your own seat, where they bring it to you. I love how many diet friendly (no carbs for me, thanks!) options/modifications they offer. Restaurants really seem to be catching on with this, and it’s a welcome sight! My BF ordered the chicken club on the keto cloud bread, and I got the burger protein style (no bun). Both of them came with mixed greens on the side. We also got one soft drink to share, and they offer craft fountain sodas, which were delicious! Although we didn’t order any, there is a nice selection of local draft beers. BF raved about the chicken club and the cloud bread, but I was underwhelmed with my burger. For one thing, it came with a regular bun despite my request for protein style. Not a huge deal, just remove the bun, but typically burgers served without one are prepped slightly differently. All my condiments were soaked into the bun I removed, so that was a bit of a disappointment. It came with some sort of pickled onions, which were great. The greens on both plates were a lot, and while they were good, particularly the dressing they are tossed with, they were almost too much. Cherish is nearby and we will give it another try for sure. Skimming through other reviews, maybe we’ll come for brunch or get salads next time.

Piccola New Style – Menu with Prices – 1102 W Main St, Richmond

Stopped in for an early dinner. I hadn’t eaten here in a number of years and I was not disappointed.I ordered the Steak Sub with provolone cheese & fries, it was wonderful! Sorry I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. You get free refills on your fountain drinks which is Always a Plus. Even though they were very busy with a lot of take out orders my food came very fast and very hot. So if you’re looking for delivery there are plenty apps out there that the use and I know just from sitting and dining in and watching on the orders go out lol

Hummus Bean – Anaheim Menu with Prices 131 W Center Street Promenade, Anaheim

–LOCATION– in a plaza nearby Anaheim Packing House –PARKING– 30 min parking spots available on street; 2 hour validated spots in parking garage shared within building –MENU– pretty standard menu of kebab, pita wraps, and combo plates. The lemonades are super nice and refreshing (check-in on Yelp app to redeem a free one). Average price is like $15. We ordered a combo wrap and a combo plate and that was $30. Combo comes with a salad or fries. Beef was a bit too chewy and some pieces were super burnt. Chicken was better. Gyro was good. Compo plate had a side of hummus and pita bread. Pretty classic hummus. Pita bread was not warm. –SERVICE– very nice service. They bring it out to you if you sit in. I like that they don’t use plastic forks and knives when seated in. Pace of food preparation was a bit on the long side though, especially for how vacant they were at the time. –SEATING– some seating; good for smaller parties (2-4 ideally). –OVERALL– not bad but not super thrilled from my visit. True rating would be 3.5 but I don’t think it deserves a 3.

Pie-Sci Pizza – Menu with Prices – 5163 Trumbull Ave, Detroit

Move over Chicago deep dish- I think I’ve fallen in love with a different kind of pizza place. When I think of the name Pie Sci, I think of Bill Nye simply because it rhymes and pizza is a science. This brief stopover in Detroit ended up in a place with unique pizza combinations that serves them up in a way that makes me crave it more and more. I’ve had Detroit style pizza before but this recent trip has solidified me as a fan. Since my friend and I work in higher education, we had to get pizzas off their “U Of Pizza” category. We felt like we were about to graduate with our PhDs in pizzametry just from eating here. The Hani Depp Detroit-Style was amazing! The crust was one of the best I’ve ever had on a pizza and the combination of cheese, lettuce, tomato, and herb mayo blended everything together. We had these for leftovers a few hours later and it was still phenomenal. Similarly, Weird Al Pastor with pork, pineapple, and red onions was just as amazing. Choosing to bake it as a white pizza really sold this one for me and I have to say eating two solid choices of gourmet pizza made this trip all so worth it. Plus, the outdoor dining patio is gorgeous and reminded me of days out in a park with family, friends, and food. If you choose to get a fountain drink, they serve local Detroit sodas for you to sample as well. Pie Sci = 100% Totally would come back here again if I’m in the area.

Maury’s Delicatessens – Menu with Prices – 1125 Main St, Worcester

Still great pastrami sandwiches. Thier hoagie bread is excellent. They had no French fries “because the fryers weren’t cleaned…” never a good sign, it probably hasn’t been cleaned in weeks by the look of the place. Or maybe the the counter lady, just didn’t feel like dealing with fries.. There are delicious looking fries on the yelp picture section.. The most comfortable seats are at the dinner counter, where you get a full view of everything.. If you weigh over 190, those benches aren’t happening..the full view included: dust gathering on baking trays, pastrami sitting out for hours in tubs on the counter..I love the nostalgia of the place, but let’s be clean please..There are dirty ass curtains, hiding everything below the counters..Is this where all the bread and food Is kept? I would love to know..Keep the nostalgia of the past, but update the place a little bit..Service is great, the ladies are quick , friendly, and personsable. Cream sodas still great, bagged chips..Prices are high for what you get. 2 sodas, 2 bags of chips, 2 sandwitches=$28. You could get a crappy chain-restaurant three course meal for that. Best of luck; I predict this place will become a relic of the past in the near future.

David’s Burgers – Menu with Prices – Suite J & K, 400 President Clinton Ave, Little Rock

Yelp to the rescue! Our original dinner plans were scrapped when the place we chose was packed. I went to Yelp and up pops David’s Burgers. Nice neon outside and as you enter, an old soda fountain feel! We were greeted by several employees and ordered burgers. They gave me a few sheets of checkered paper and I didn’t have a clue what they were for. Shortly after, the employee comes along with a large bowl of fries and puts some on the papers as a free appetizer before the meal…perfect! Fries were yummy and a good hold over until the meals arrived, in around 10 minutes. I had the single with fries and almost went with the double, glad I didn’t! Plenty of food on this combo with fries and drink for 7.99. The burger was super flavorful and the buns were melt in your mouth fresh/warm! Fries were good with partial skin on. This was in the top 5 burgers I have ever had. Good price, friendly staff and great food!

Panini Bread and Grill – Menu with Prices – 3510 W Bell Rd #4, Glendale

My husband and I decided to go to this Panini shop. We found it on Yelp and wanted to try it out. WOW! So glad we did. “Arizona Panini Bread & Grill” did NOT disappoint. I know it’s a Panini joint, but man, they know how to do sandwiches, soup and all the things that make for a great sandwich shop. Until today, I never really understood why people ordered potato chips. But now, after having their homemade kettle chips, I am a FAN!! My corned beef panini was perfect! The bread was so fresh and the meat was great. My husband had the Chicken Avocado Panini and it too was delicious. The fries were good too, but after eating my husband chips I was too full to finish them. Typically I only eat about 1/2 my sandwich. My husband was shocked that I ate it all. It was just so good, I couldn’t stop!! They had a nice drink selection with fountain drink and flavored teas/free refills. The Reese’s cookie was…. too good. I was so full, that I could only eat a bite, but because they have to-go boxes and give you an ice pack to pack your food, I was able to put my cookie on ice while we ran errands for 2+ hours while my cookie stayed in the car and didn’t even melt. (Ya’ll it was a high of 110° today. They think of everything. More than all of that, you can feel the love and care that each person on this team puts into the food and service. They make you feel like part of the family that they are. I will definitely be going back and bring family and friends!

Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen and Brewery – Roanoke – Menu with Prices – 24 Campbell Ave SE, Roanoke

Having previously reviewed the Charlottesville location, my husband and I were anxious to try the one in Roanoke. We visited last Friday (March 8) during a freakish snow squall. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly lady who seated us immediately and didn’t mind one bit when we changed tables to the third level, far corner, so we could look down on the streets as it snowed. I still wish they served fountain sodas or iced tea but for the moment the establishment is determined to use their own craft sodas (no diet and just ok). So I’ll have to get over that little disappointment. We ordered the pretzel bites which are unlike any I’ve had before. I would be surprised if these delicious pillow-like pretzels were Not homemade. We could have eaten our weight in these. My husband ordered the Ghost and I had a Moscow Mule (substitute for not having diet soda). Everything was brought almost immediately. For lunch he ordered a Mardi Gras menu special of jambalaya and I had the braised beef brisket tacos and fries. My food was fabulous and we always appreciate a hand-cut french fry. Husband’s jamablaya was dirty rice, beans, andouille, topped with boneless chicken breast. He said the chicken breast was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The rice/beans reminded us a bit of a Knorr’s pre-packaged dish but he did enjoy it. I was told they were short a staffer due to weather but we did not feel the pinch. Very enjoyable lunch date.

Louisiana Fried Chicken & Wings – Menu with Prices – 1016 N Arizona Ave, Chandler

I didn’t know this hole in the wall existed until someone recommended we visit for our weekly lunch outing. Definitely a little overwhelming when it comes to the menu! Lots to choose from, and they really have a little bit of everything, so it’s hard to go wrong. I definitely think it tops chains like KFC & Popeyes. There is a great ‘kick’ to the chicken- and I realized it is actually marinated in hot sauce prior to breading & frying- so there is a generous spice that is really the perfect amount of heat & makes it stand out. (You can tell if you peel back the fried coating.) But- I also felt like it was overly greasy. I’m not sure how they keep it so hot & fresh. You can tell it is made to order, just out of the fryer by the amount of grease that seeps out when you bite in. So, I wouldn’t recommend for anyone on a strict diet! But, you can choose from a bunch of other menu items, too. I’d like to go back & try the wings & gumbo! But the fries are great, too. I ordered the two piece leg & thigh meal w/ fries. It comes with a sweet Hawaiian dinner roll & fountain drink. Roughly a little under $10 for the meal, which isn’t bad at all! The fries were pretty good- I loved that they were Cajun seasoned, but tasted a bit dry & stale- like they’d been sitting out for a while. The establishment itself is really small, so seating was difficult with a group of us. And I didn’t like how they keep the drink machine behind the counter, so as to prevent refills. That, to me, is cheap & stingy for a restaurant. Same with the ketchup. You’re only given two small packets & have to request more. I feel like fountain drinks & condiments should be a help-yourself station like most establishments provide. Overall, it really is better than the bigger chains! I’d definitely pick this over others.

Teriyaki Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 2028 W Guadalupe Rd, Mesa

I’ve been going here for years but it seems as if it’s been going downhill a bit the past few times we’ve been there. I’ve always liked the House Chicken although this time I opted for the Shrimp Yakisoba which was tasty. My wife ordered the shumai and it didn’t look or taste like any shumai we’ve had before, it just looks like a fried meatball. Didn’t really like it. The taste of most things I’ve had here has been pretty good but my main complaint lately is that you get a lot of rice and not enough of the entree. The teriyaki chicken isn’t that flavorful because they don’t put enough teriyaki sauce on there. The sauce is good but the parts that don’t get it are dry. I also don’t like that they added a lot of ice to the fountain drinks (at least they did today) and then charge you for refills, and they also charge you for extra teriyaki sauce, when they don’t put enough on upfront. I always try to support the Mom and Pop shops that are trying to compete with the chains of the world but to do so they should give you free refills and teriyaki sauce, especially when the last few times I’ve been there it hasn’t been very busy at all. Depending on what you get the food is 3 to 5 stars, but the value due to the things above earns a 3 from me.

Katie’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1180 Oxford St E, London

About half full for a Sunday lunch. It is a relatively small place. The restaurant was clean. Pop is $2.25 per can. For two cans, I could go to the grocery store and buy a case. No refills for you. The servers were friendly, but hard to get their attention if needed. I ordered chicken fingers and fries. The fries looked like they were fried in grease that has not been changed in quite some time, but they did actually taste quite good. However, I will not be able to salvage the chicken fingers for this review. I am pretty sure they are just ordered frozen by some supplier. A party at our table ordered fish and chips. His fish looked was also just frozen fish ordered from some supplier. The prices are average for a diner, the portion sizes average as well. When all is said and done, I will not return to this place. Although friendly and clean, the food tasted ok, soft drinks are way too expensive, no refills, they cook frozen pre-purchased food … I know of other diners that make their food “home made” for the same price and have soft drink refills. I will give this place three stars as not to discourage people from trying it out for themselves if they were thinking about it … but really, in my mind, two stars is more appropriate.
